Current Noble Arms is now either four years old, or three years and eleven months. The third thread had lasted for more than one year.

My Roleplay, Noble Arms: The ASEAN War, will reach its 4th year in June or July. It's been a long journey.

Despite its massive flaws, my RP, Noble Arms: The ASEAN War, is still one of the longest ongoing RPs in RPGuild - It turns 4 years old in July and the current thread itself is more than a year old.

Raven Rivers

The blood price had been paid; violence for violence, grief for grief. As Raven had his Shadow Hawk begin retreating along with the convoy, he said to the enemy, "Console yourselves in your defeat - It will mean nothing in the end."

His mech began running for the storm, following his commanding officer - Ingrid - and the rest of the convoy, realizing that his outburst would get him a stern talking to (at best) from the Colonel once they were back home. But he knew how useful he still was and how his actions hadn't endangered the group... Yet. He can get through the long talk and remind the Colonel that while the latter had his love interest imprisoned, he had a lawfully wedded wife and son in that same imprisonment and risk of execution.

Wait, no, that's a bad idea. The Colonel does not know he loves the Captain yet, and tugging on his heartstrings might get me a worse punishment than a talking-to and maybe the first level of punishment.

Colonel Gaius Wayne was a friend, a friend who had grown somewhat distant from the chains of commanding others, but still a friend. He needed to save this friendship; he cannot lose more ties with other people. But considering how his wife and son were still in enemy hands, how they can be tortured in unspeakable ways at any moment, then killed, how can he not lose it? This was his family he was talking about; every second they were in the enemy's prison was a second of uncertainty that gnawed at his heart.

He had thought that fighting in the battle would remove some of the uncertainty; it did, but it took a psychotic outburst to cleanse himself of some of it. Rage had freed him of his feelings for a few seconds, and that was alluring, addictive, and above all, dangerous.

The sound of raindrops could be heard hitting his mech, and as his cockpit cooled, Raven knew this: That if this continued, if he surrendered again and again to his rage, he'd lose the Colonel's trust, and may have already lost Ingrid's, and will lose everyone else's.

Katrina and Andrew's faces flashed before him, driving away guilt and regret as he whispered to himself, "Katrina, Andrew, I will rescue you... Whatever it takes."
Raven Rivers

"Shut. Up!" Raven said as he had his Shadow Hawk grab the Wolfhound by its remaining arm, hoping to pull it closer to where he can punch it on the head and cockpit with his mech's other hand, again and again and again. "You're the bad guys here! You have our children as your prisoners! Stop pretending you're anything but! Fuck you! Fuck. You!"

I will kill this man, the man thought as he lost himself in hate, not registering whether he had succeeded in his attempt at Mech unarmed combat. For Katrina, for Andrew, I will kill this man, this enemy pilot. I don't care if it kills me, I'll kill him and the other foes and kill and kill and kill -

"Hahahahaha!" a laugh escaped his lips, "If you guys want to be psychopaths and sociopaths, I will oblige! I will kill you all! All! For my own family! For the people you all killed! You don't care! I don't care as well!"

The Shadow Hawk continued punching at what Raven thought was the Wolfhound; hopefully his grab attempt had succeeded. "You will die here! You will pay! You. Will. Pay!"

Nothing would dissuade him, not enemy fire, not the growing heat of the cockpit, not the orders of his friends and Ingrid. Maybe the Colonel could stop him, but would communications reach him in time?
Raven Rivers

"Joy," the pilot named Raven remarked with a note of sarcasm, even as he charged up his Shadow Hawk's laser to fire at the enemy mech which was called a Raven (yes, it was confusing as it sounds). He then continued, "You've succeeded in infuriating us. It would have been best if you had just negotiated our departure from this planet instead of attacking us, our spouses, and our children; now you've left us with nothing to lose and everything to gain by splattering your asses to the ground. Plus, aren't you mercs too, or are you going to tell us you're something fancier? If so, I don't believe it."

He was waiting until the other mechs close to him scored hits at the ECM-emitting foe, hoping that they would breach the enemy Raven's armor with concentrated fire before he shot at it with the hope of frying its circuits, letting loose an intensely blue beam of light aimed directly at the mech's cockpit. That ought to end the enemy mech for good and restore their own Raven (the mech; still confusing)'s ECM bubble. Once that mech was slag, Raven would turn his autocannon at the Wolfhound Arroxy had shot at, pointing his autocannon at it and firing a round of large bullets at the 'Light Mech' before remembering that this was supposed to be a fighting retreat.

Hatred seeped through his voice as he spoke, "You're going to know what it's like to be unable to protect the people you care about. Not that you care about anyone but yourselves..."
In just two months of action, we've managed to reach 50 IC posts; thanks, guys!
Chapter One, Desperation in Lingayen, Part Six

Lingayen Beach, Municipality of Lingayen, Lingayen Gulf

"The enemy Arms Master we know for sure is after us is Ren Huo - Or was it Huo Ren?" Noel responded to Regina punctually. "His Noble Arm is a Spear which allows him several Sun-themed powers - That means he's most likely the one projecting that Artificial Sun above us. Thankfully, Princess Fukuyo here is strengthened by fire and heat in general, meaning that she can counter him long enough for us to stab him in the back. As for the other Arms Masters... I don't have anything yet."

And indeed, the Princess could feel her Noble Arm being strengthened, and it was faster than it should be even in these circumstances. She might recall a memorandum from Japan's Military Intelligence that Ren Huo might have a secret weakness; that he seemed to empower every Arms Master who based their power on fire and heat whether he was willing to or not.

Those rumors were further confirmed once the Artificial Sun suddenly began fading, turning transparent until it vanished completely, leaving a clear sky. Noel's strategy, discussed with Callie and Nil, to use Henri to negate the magical construct had succeeded, with Henri's dive into the giant ball of fire, a dive where he had been able to activate his 'Anti-Magic', being the decisive factor in halting Ren Huo's onslaught and the near-loss of the defenders.

In the air, Lotus Squadron could see the man with the spear, Ren Huo himself, halt completely in his tracks, and Kaitlyn could see him as well, and if she requested Qingshe for a telescope or already had binoculars, she could have a closer view of the man who had caused so much havoc on his own.

"Fireteams one and two - All of you but Nemo can reach him with your powers!" Noel shouted, clearly remembering Regil, Lucy, and Fukuyo's abilities in particular. "Prepare to attack; fire at will when we get the enemy's position through the comms!" He then shifted topics, "Lotus Squadron, do you copy? If you've found Ren Huo, give us the coordinates of his position - We might have a chance to rub him out of this world!"

He then took the time to walk up to the smallest Arms Master (Nemo) and give the boy a cautious head pat, before saying to him, "You did well in the previous stage of the battle. Now, I presume you have more powers than what you've already shown? If so, while the others blast him, tell me all about them so we can use your Noble Arm better."

Then to Qingshe, Noel continued, "Can you relay a message to Private Pierce? Tell her she's amazingly good with kids; can she and you help me protect this one?" he gestured to Nemo, "We can't avoid all trauma, but we can use whatever support we can to get through it and even minimize what we get..."

Team Callie had succeeded with flying colors, giving the Main Group a chance to deal with the enemy who had cast the Artificial Sun. It was almost time for the real deal to set, and the sky was brightly lit with red as the area cooled. They could see from their position that the Chinese Fleet was holding back, making no moves to attack for thirty seconds - An eternity in a modern battlefield. Was this because although the ships had been reset yet again by the mysterious Arms Master who was frustrating their efforts, the crewfolk who had been killed on the vessels had not been so lucky?

Either way, this would be enough time for the Main Group to fire at Huo Ren, enough time to get off one or two blasts, but that wasn't their problem right now.

Because in the thirty seconds' pause, the earth was shaking, even though it was not being pounded with artillery. The Philippine marines that had been stationed on Team Callie's new hill were vanishing, many turning to the just-appeared team of Arms Masters for help before they were swallowed into the softening ground. Then, when the three members of the team were finally alone, yet given enough foreshadowing of their enemy's nature and capabilities to be afraid, to sense that they were being toyed with, the earth underneath them began to crack, with small chunks of the hill breaking loose and tumbling down towards the beach...

Just as the three of them saw Sophist flying towards them, lightening gravity in their area so that they were almost floating, "The person behind this must be nearby - I've lightened your gravity to allow you to escape, then we're going to find whoever is causing this once we find another vantage point!"

Ken Illustrious Ikari

As he sought the source of the wraiths which haunted the apartment, slicing through ghosts with his magic blade as he went, Ken gradually, painfully, realized something. He did not want to abandon Reverio and Chinami. It wasn't right to do so, not after what they had gone through and what he had gone through. Was it so conventionally kind others might find it boring? Yes it was. But Ken wanted to own that behavior, make it his' and ingrain it into his psyche to the point where it was indelible. Why should he be afraid of them hurting him? Pain was a part of life, meant to indicate what damage needed healing and what dangers to keep away from, but it can also be a survival instinct gone wrong.

Same for Hate (capitalized); it was also a survival instinct, sometimes useful for taking out threats and disposing of truly monstrous folk, but more often than not going out of control and consuming oneself and all around them...

As one can see from the IC posts, the RP will have its Grand Finale in this year or the next!
@Bartimaeus, is the Scholar class allowed? It's not WotC, but you said that you can be persuaded to allow third-party stuff if it's not absurd...

Edit: I'm thinking of a Fighter/Scholar who will eventually become an Eldritch Knight.

Edit 2: After talking with Bart in Discord DMs; I decided not to join.
