I think it was the wording or I misread what I saw because it read as you directed my James' lance away. As for the blinding thing, that's still kinda cheap. It's an AOE spell, making it hard to deflect...

Well my James had his own blinding spell ready which I seemed to have forgotten about, I should probably change it to using that as a counter (at least that makes sense to me. either that or the blinding becomes worse XD)

Shane Disappeared into a shadow portal never to be heard from again. He was one with the shadows and nothing could be done to stop him. He stepped right though the portal he created and disappeared along with his Shadow demon friend and shadow vines

I found the CS and looked it over. The idea behind the CS is not bad, but I would have liked a little more explanation on why he was insane, and how he got his shadow powers. I did like the "illogical" insanity, and it would have been funny is he go from raving mad, to standing on a table trying to balance a glass of water on his head.

I have actually considered making a character who often does absolutely random things for no appearent reason.

You used a big bright light on a light manipulating wizard, it stands to reason he can just kinda...well divert it to the side to make sure he didn't get blinded. I mean he sidestepped the lance, unless he was close I think that that was legit.
It was more legit as your sidestep when you 'heard' a spell being called out and reacted to that. My James didn't say anything, my only character who said a spell was Cody.
And he kinda mumbled it.
I think the main issue is I have no idea how big this park is, and in relation how close everyone is to each other. I kinda assumed some decent distance between James and James (plus some sort of minor charge of the lance to gain momentum) so a quick sidestep would make the attack sail past him. Maybe it was how I worded it? I should check that.
EDIT: I read my post over again (the previous one) and James actually didn't say a word XD
It also occurs to me that he prepared his own blinding spell I didn't even use XD
