"Well met, Lord Annatar - I, Dr. Minccia, am thankful for the aid. My plan is simple - My GPS can tell me the location of every major jeweler in Las Vegas!"

"Anyways, I'd be more than willing to split the loot evenly in exchange for assistance. While my robots handle a few other locations, I believe we should head... That way."

"If you are still having second thoughts, I will also concede the right to pick the name for our temporary alliance. Just be sure to make it have flair."

"Nnnnnnot so fast, Doctor Mamacita!"

"But what could be the opposite of jewels..?"

"TO THE CITY POUND!"

Despite having been engulfed in Maricola's fleshy appendage, Annatar was at least still capable of communicating telepathically, though he wondered how the boy felt, hearing Annatar's thoughts while seeing his small mammal body slowly get sucked into Maricola's meaty arm. "I have no desire to name the alliance, so you may keep that honor for yourself." Annatar thought-spoke to Justin.

At that moment, Maricola made her declaration and headed towards the pound, with both Annatar and Justin in tow. Annatar doubted Justin had any interest in whatever Maricola was up to, and was afraid that if this continued, Justin would lose interest and seek help elsewhere. Seeing as Justin wanted to steal jewels, he could surmise that Justin simply wanted to accumulate wealth, a common and simple motivation for humans. But seeing as how Maricola had decided to seek the opposite of jewels (pets, or somesuch apparently according to Maricola's unfathomable mind), Annatar would need to strike some sort of compromise. "Maricola, wait! If you are against jewels, we could steal something else. And I don't mind being stuck inside you, but at least let our friend her go, please? We could steal something else instead, our new friend seems keen on getting filthy rich. Having hung out with, ahem, 'youth' your age, I know a thing or two about 'technology', which you seem to be a master of. Couldn't you easily 'hack' these gambling machines to award us with money we haven't won? That way, we accumulate wealth and don't even seem to be doing it illegitimately. How about that Maricola? Or maybe, you tell me what you're interested in?"

Yes, Annatar realized, he was indeed babysitting.

The scouting drones that Brunhillde had Omniac send out were a sort of test. Omniac had been designed with the concept of 'sound', so 'canonically' it was able to hear whatever its scouts heard. What this meant in-game was simply that it had shared aggro with its scouts and was able to detect enemies and intruders outside the guild where the scouts were posted. Of course, Omniac would 'declare' that it had 'heard' from its scouts through what was essentially a magitech 'psychic'link akin to radio. A few of these scouting beetle drones alighted on the shoulders of Kira, Merius, and Nebuchi, who were exploring outside the guild, and one went over to Alena's shoulder. Multiple had been sent to the group outside in case they split up, but that possibility was much less likely for the group that was dealing with matters inside, so only one was sent to Lady tea, Marchosias, and Archene collectively.

"Omniac, our faithful guardian, how do you fare? Is there anything strange afoot to your sensibilities."

"The interior group is currently dealing with a breach in our defenses. They are holding their own quite capably against what appear to be necromantic goat-men and their undead minions. The external group is continuing to scout the perimeter."

Brunhillde slowly looked up, startled. Omniac was not capable of offering interpretations of events. She looked at Overzealous, wide-eyed, but didn't comment on it. An indistinct sort of 'radio chatter' emanated from Omniac, with hints of familiar voices from the guild members being eavesdropped on. This also meant that they were indeed picking up the sounds in their vicinity and transmitting it to Omniac, who was replaying the sound faithfully, though the signals were being mixed. Brunhillde would need to think of a way to deconvolute the signals.

As for the other guild members who had scout drones in their vicinity, they heard similar radio chatter coming from the drones, the only difference was they didn't hear their own sounds, but did hear Brunhillde's and Overzealous' voices, as well as the clanging of the forge.

"We should try creating something more complex."

"Y-yes," Brunhillde replied, trying not to think about what she had just heard from Omniac. Being a bit of a fanatic, thei first thing Brunhillde thought of was... "Trains! I mean, it would be a pretty long-term goal, since the engine is massive, and we'd need to lay down tracks. But at least it uses fuel already available in a medieval setting, namely wood or coal. It will be donkey's years before we could make anything even close to resembling a smartphone, but maybe we can start trying to generate electricity. I'll need acid and metals to make simple voltaic cells, but that shouldn't be too hard to find. We'll need magnets if we want to make turbines...I wonder if lodestones are a thing in this game? I mean, world. But I'm getting ahead of myself, before we get to electricity, the industrial revolution was only a few steps away from the medieval age, right? Or what about gunpowder? Ancient Chiense invented that, right? OH! Or dynamite!" Looking around, something else dawned on Brunhillde. "Measuring equipment..." she said in dismay. Before, in the game, an ingot of iron always weighed 'one weight' and was a foot long. There was no need to measure anything since everything was digitally managed by the game. And while Brunhillde could craft a sword from a pre-existing ingot, that was only because she had memorized the sword recipe. To make anything outside of the game's original crafting menu would require making their own measurements. "I'll need rulers, bottles, glass, lots of glass. Scales...big ones, small ones. Standard weights. Omigod, omigod!" Brunhillde's diminutive form bounced up and down in excitement. "I don't know where to start! What do you think would privode most immediate utility to the guild?" she asked Overzealous.
@pugbutter

Ah, I gotcha. That's not a bad position for a character, but keep in mind that Black Lily only employs the worst kinds of people. Take a look at the OOC and if you think you can work a character concept like that into this kind of world, I'd be more than happy to look at a submission for it.

But middle-management are the worst kind of people...

Neeza

"I suppose that is... True, that is vaguely true what you tell me Neeza. It is true yet, inhumane. Their expertise is formed from their experiences in the abyss by fighting and delving deeper, yes. It is harsh however to train someone into an 'super abyss delver' by hurting them so that they become used to the reality of the abyss. We won't force those methods on someone of that age and certainly not on someone that unwillingly led up to our home. Children need to have a childhood too to become decent citizens, just like you Neeza."

Neeza tried not to flinch when Leader mentioned having a childhood. True, the latter half of her life had been spent in opulence, but it was unable to erase what happened in the former half. Having experienced both had forced her to attempt to wrap her mind around the 'why' of the situation. The only conclusion she could reach was that fate was arbitrary and random, inherently unfair. Some of her fellow orphans still lived in poverty and under harsh, abusive labor conditions, while other children knew nothing but warm beds and full bellies their whole lives. Thus Neeza did not see herself as the most fortunate, nor the least fortunate, but seeing such extremes opened her third eye to some deeper truth that she was still trying to grapple with. In the religion of her homeland, the concept of 'nothingness' or 'emptiness' was considered holy, virtuous. Yet her people had lost their way. They reached for greater and greater heights of comfort, creating such dichotomies. But the truth was not to be found in high places, nor was it to be found in the light. It was to be found in the deep, in the dark, in the only place in the world that could be called the embodiment of 'nothingness', of 'emptiness'. Still, she needed to trust, that whatever higher power governed the Abyss, that called to her, held dominion over all matters of life and death, and that even the fate that she saw as arbitrary and random was the working of this higher power. After all, it had led her here, hadn't it? That being the case, perhaps she should trust 'fate' for the time being, and allow the other children the comfort that was their due. Perhaps the discipline Neeza sought was for herself alone, for now. After all, she was the chosen prophet, not them. Unless she had some faith to bring to them, a religion t obelieve in and motivate them to purify themselves and prepare for transcendence, the discipline she wished to enact would be as pearls before swine. Neeza merely nodded, wordlessly, in response, though her critical eyes continued to bore into his.

"Neeza, I'm sure you'll be a great delver someday. If you already think about the abyss like this I am sure you'll be the one to get to the bottom of it. But, the abyss is not only full of pain and horror. It can be the most womderfull place as well. So please, use the comfort we give you to enjoy the abyss as well."

As if reading her mind, Leader asked her to 'enjoy the beauty of the Abyss' as well as its hardships. Neeza wondered if this went against creed. Of course, strength was paramount to survival, but if she closed her eyes to all the Abyss had to offer, then she was being ignorant, and unworthy of being the Prophet of the Precipice. Neeza nodded again, and finished her tea. "Thank you, Leader, for the thought-provoking discussion. I believe that I will be able to sleep tonight." She got up, returned the bow, and headed back to bed.
Yeah, I'll get a post up soon. Just wondering if @Xiro Zean is still with us
I'm pretty sure it is, but I've noticed people trying to "win" in RPs like that before with vague powers which really kills the fun. I think the GM might be worried about that.

Good point. I shouldn't have let Maricola's slap destroy Annatar in the first place, but I did it for shits and giggles.
More like you shouldn't post outside the limits of your CS in the first place.

@Stern Algorithm
Replace Other in your CS abilities with Regeneration. I shouldn't have allowed that first time around.

Whoops, sorry, I thought this whole thing was just supposed to be light-hearted and goofy, so I took some liberties. I will make the changes and refrain from stepping out-of-bounds.
@Stern Algorithm
Don't forget to add regeneration to your sheet too in case you lose track, friend.

At least he didn't reappear and eat his own body
"Good thing your pal Endemmy is here, I know all about Vegas. After all, this is where I'm from!"

That explains all the diseases. I guess what happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas.
