Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.
At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.
I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

Akiyama Takehito smiled. Sure, after so many times, on such an advanced character, raids had become a bit routine. But there was something fun about going through them in-character, and there was a lot of hype for the next expansion coming next week!

Emerald Odyssey was certainly a popular game. Allowing for extreme detail in character customization, the creation of NPCs for high-level players, and a wide range of viable paths to success for the players, its playerbase was vast and the game itself was popular. And, well, needless to say, the next expansion, The Holy Crusades, was generating a lot of excitement and hype. No-one quite knew what to expect from the content, but it had been teased that the secretive Theocracy of Klein would be opened up for play.

But that didn't mean Takehito would act out of character. His character, the diminutive, child-like vampire Vanyra Briarheart Rozenkreuzlite, would never worry about such things. She'd simply comment on how worthless the enemies of the last raid were, how it was a meager effort for someone like herself. Takehito certainly wasn't one to neglect gameplay for roleplaying, but he could build those in synergy with Emerald Odyssey! There was no need to ignore one side or the other!

Vanyra_Briarheart_Rozenkreuzlite: How pathetic~ Of course, I can't blame them for their worthless efforts when I

He never finished his message.

For there was no longer anyone sitting at the computer.

His vision was blurry. What had happened...? It was so bright, nothing like his dimly-lite room at night... He couldn't really make anything out, and it felt like his head was spinning. Had he stayed up too long and passed out? Holding his head, he weakly stepped forward.

"What ha-"

He froze where he stood.

That wasn't his voice. That was the voice of a girl. A small, cute girl. A child, it sounded like a little girl's voice. How could he have spoken in a little girl's voice?! His vision clearing, his head ceasing to spin, Takehito looked down at his body, his hands.

Delicate, pale little fingers... a slender little body, clad in red and black gothic lolita. As he started to perceive more and more of the world around him, he realized that he was not in his room at all.

And that he was certainly no longer a he.

The small, almost paper-white girl trembled with wide eyes. How was this possible? Takehito concluded it must be a dream, and shakily pinched one arm.

He felt it.

He felt that pain.

He was wearing that dress. That dress he knew on sight. He was standing on the grassy plains in the daylight, thought of course it wouldn't cause any debuffs given how he'd built... he'd built her.

He was no longer Akiyama Takehito, University Student.

She was Vanyra Briarheart Rozenkreuzlite, High Vampire.

"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHH?!"

Certainly the sudden outburst from the delicate-looking, childlike vampire would be difficult to ignore.

Vita

They were being surrounded, huh? Probably by whatever had left what she could assume was the remnants of an explosion of some kind. Vita raised Eisen, narrowing her eyes. The moment she saw one of these unknown enemies, she was going to crush it into the floor until there was nothing left. But at the moment, all there was to do was await the appearance of the enemies. As much as the fiery-tempered redheaded girl would like to simply charge in and start destroying them, she had to acknowledge the fact that she needed to reduce the amount of collateral damage, if possible. So that meant waiting.

Irritatingly enough.
Konpaku Youmu

Youmu nodded swiftly to the boy, and then leapt out the window. However, she didn't fall, like some might have expected. Instead, she rocketed through the air, her phantom half following her at an equal pace, some distance behind her. Of course, moments later she felt an uncomfortable pressure. Leo had evidently started to grip her phantom half more tightly, and after a moment she looked back over her shoulder.

"I told you not to grip too tightly!" Youmu called, before putting on another burst of speed. There they were! One of the dragons had taken to the air, while another had remained on the ground, firing balls of intense towards a man a woman, as the dragon in the air swooped towards a young girl. The man looked as if he could handle himself, and the woman seemed potentially more capable, but the girl seemed unlikely to be able to evade. Even with her speed, it would be difficult to get all of them of them... so the small, white-haired girl simply hoped that her assessment of the three people in direct danger was correct.

Rocketing downwards, the air rushing around her, Youmu outstretched her hands and wrapped them around the girl, lifting her off the ground as she hurtled out of the way of the swooping talons, holding her tightly against her body before slowing, spinning, and skidding across the ground and coming to a halt. Moments later, her phantom half came to a halt nearby and gently deposited Leonardo on the ground.

@KoL: Both accepted. People might as well post their Servant bios in the thread now, since the secret thing has been called off. ^^;

Now we only need @Rin's Master finished and we can start!
This world is not peaceful.

Falhein, a military organization that positioned itself as a protector working with numerous governments to strike down monsters and other threats, has clashed with the Shadow Knights, a rival organization representing the country of Zevbrin. The secretive Shadow Knights have acted largely from the shadows, with an almost cult-like dedication to their mysterious goals. Technically, Zevbrin is not officially associated with the Knights, so it is difficult to level any punishment against them. Instead, Falhein clashes again and again with the Shadow Knights as the perform raids or attempt to claim territories for themselves.

The motives for the Shadow Knights are unknown. But recently they have attempted to encroach upon the country of Aurella, raiding towns on their borders with advanced technology.

For what purpose do the Shadow Knights perform such attacks, and why are they now targeting the Nation of Aurella? What is Zevbrin's motivation?

This world is not peaceful.

And yet, something is about to change...

What will happen when someone from outside, someone from an entirely different world, someone from a mundane universe without magic, is suddenly thrust into the middle of such a conflict?

What will they do?

Since this is a private RP I don't think I need to have a big information dump in the OP. We can iron out setting details among ourselves! But the basics are...

  • Magic: Everyone has it, and can do some level of magical feats.
  • Technology: Much more advanced then most fantasy worlds, due to the usage of magic to enhance it. Basically, magitech.
  • Blessings: Unique abilities some native residents of the setting possess, beyond the normal magical capabilities.

For a moment, Fanilly was silent at Lilianna's words. But she knew it was the truth, nodding quietly after a brief pause.

"You're right," she began, "I was already questioning it before we set out. I couldn't understand how a raiding party of orcs could possibly have come so close to the capital. There's no way their movements would go unnoticed."

It didn't take deep expertise to know that orcs were not the most subtle of creatures. Their strengths were in their numbers and their ferocity, not their tactics. And certainly, absolutely not in magic. Orc magic was almost unheard of, not even the most cruelly intelligent minds among the barbaric, cannibalistic race were capable of feats of magical prowess. And that was because it was not a matter of intelligence. As a race, orcs were simply without the capability to do magic. The meager amounts of mana within them were simply that which was found within all living things. Which meant...

"... Is it possible that... if that mage is their ally, is it possible that they somehow helped the orcs reach Brennan?" Fanilly asked. She wasn't sure if Lilianna would be able to answer such a question, but she did not have a deep knowledge of magic herself. She had no idea if there was any kind of spells that would allow such a numbers to move covertly, but it was one of the only possibilities she could think of.

Of course, moments later that train of thought was interrupted when the town's defenders approached them. The first was a young man, handsome, with dark hair and blue eyes. His armor was fine, though not without splatters of blood here and there.

"On behalf of my father, Lord of Brennan, I offer my deepest gratitude to the Iron Roses," he said, planting his sword in the ground and getting down onto one knee. Ah? He was doing something so... Fanilly almost made to stop him, but he quickly rose again.

"There are those among our number who perished here, but your efforts have ensured their lives did not end in vain. May they rest in the moonlight," he continued, his voice taking a solemn tone. Fanilly lowered her hands. Ah... she wished they had received the news sooner, regardless. Or if they had made it with more speed, perhaps some of those guards who had died would still be alive...

The young man sighed.

"My father would like to speak with you, to thank you personally for coming to our aid."

He seemed a little uncomfortable. Not simply because of weariness from battle, but... why was it his father had not come personally? Was something wrong?

Had the Lord of Brennan not participated in the defense of the town...?

"... Ah-hah... I... guess you could say that," responded Sir Avlin, awkwardly, as he lay there. His leg exposed, Lyrie could now see the full extent of the damage. An ugly dark bruise had formed halfway down his shin, a deep purple blotch with a bulge in the center. It wasn't hard to guess what injury it was, but she needed to see exactly what the damage was.

"Sir Avlin, please remain still," she said, before placing her hand(now cleaned using the warm water Sir Tiral had provided) as lightly on the bruise as she could. She shut her eyes.

"I wish to see beyond flesh, to what lies beneath. Reveal it for me."

It was one of the earliest spells she had learned over the course of her lessons. It allowed her to see, within her mind, what was beneath the surface she was touching. To be honest, it was a modification of a spell made to perform this process on any solid object, but tailored to the process of seeing through flesh.

And in her mind, the girl could see it. Sir Avlin's leg had cracked, the bone breaking all the way through. On one hand, it was not a simple fracture and would be more difficult to fully mend, but on the other the bone had not pierced through the knight's flesh and jutted out of his body, which would have made realigning it more difficult. The lack of pain he felt was likely shock...

She could do this. She had practiced before. She had to do this for Sir Avlin.

Lyrie took a deep breath.

"Y-your... your leg is broken, but... I'll h-heal it!" she declared, trying to sound as confident as possible. She didn't want her patient to worry either.

Angeline lowered her shield. The exterior's glow was fading slowly, but it still felt like it was blazing hot in her hand. And yet she made no effort to drop it.

"... So it was a trap, then," she said, simply. That certainly seemed to be the case. Whatever magic had been involved here was entirely for the purpose of destroying anyone who had come to investigate. It was not only the tree that had been destroyed, there was a small crater at the epicenter of the explosion.

The moment Tiral arrived, however, well...

He didn't even have to try and detect it. No, the sheer residual magical energy that hit him would be possible to detect even without any active attempts. The trap in the tree was something powerful, something beyond the work of a regular mage. The one who had done this was deeply, incredibly gifted in the magical arts. It perhaps was not unexpected. Not when the perpetrator had presumably also fired the beam of magic that had melted rock simply by passing close to it.

But still...

This level power would undeniably be disturbing.

As if to immediately shatter the mood, however, a certain set of new figures arrived on the scene.

Peering out from behind nearby trees, roughly a dozen tiny figures suddenly fluttered onto the scene. Each one was small enough to fit in the palm of someone's hand, uniformly they all resembled human female children.

Fairies. They were hardly uncommon in Thaln's forests, and soon they were scouring the area, peering at the blasted apart tree and the crater. One, however, fluttered up to the knights, her wings thrumming. Another swiftly followed her.

"Oh, oh! It's knights! There's knights here, Feeree!" said the one with shorter, lighter hair.

The longer-haired one with darker hair(presumably Feeree) looked thoughtful.

"Do you think that they're looking for the dark lady?" she asked, aloud.

Mordred

After that little conversation, Mordred busied herself about checking out the room. There wasn't too much too it, and she hated all the clothing options, but hey, the fridge was stocked! She saw no problem with helping herself to the contents immediately, eventually extracting a popsicle to have a taste of. It was... lemon? It tasted like lemon, that was for sure. Of course, it wasn't much longer after that, that the call for aid came out. Of course, she was a knight, so even without this agreement she would never turn her nose up at kicking something's ass helping those in need! Nodding firmly to herself, she pulled on a pair of boots and headed out to reach the van.

The ride to their destination was, at least in Mordred's opinion, awesome.

"Hell yes! This is what driving is all about!" she declared, cheerfully, careful not to lose her popsicle. It was that girl from before in the driver's seat too, right? The one who'd gotten all excited about her? She was an awesome driver! An exciting ride, this is what Mordred wanted from being in a vehicle. She wasn't sure why no-one else looked happy, this was great. Of course, it was over all too soon(and likely in a fashion that terrorized any bystanders), and still clad in her casual wear Mordred hopped out of the van and approached the... sludge. The first thing the blonde was hit by was the absolutely awful stench, wrinkling her nose and waving her hand.

"Jeez, whatever this thing is it stinks," she complained, stopping at what she felt was a safe distance from the ooze.

Konpaku Youmu

The time spent in the apartment was... curious, to Youmu, to say the least. Her phantom half had returned soon, and now she had spent much of her time trying to figure out how to use a great deal of the strange items around the house. Certainly, some of these could be used for the duties assigned to her by Yuyuko-sama... and the television, that was quite fascinating as well. It was much like the manga she sometimes purchased for Yuyuko-sama, except it was moving and on a screen... and also wasn't manga but the point was it was images made with a purpose. That being said, it didn't take very long for for something to come up. When Leo spoke, the short white-haired girl swiftly approached him, peering at the plasticky device he was holding.

"... Those are dragons," she said, flatly. Not the sort of dragon she was most used to seeing, but certainly a type of dragon she knew existed. What were dragons doing flying around so freely in the outside world?! She took a deep breath.

"You're right!" declared the girl as she approached the window, "I'm certain that if Yuyuko-sama was here she would say the same thing."

She opened the window, before pausing a moment.

"... Ah..."

Scratching the back of her head, Youmu found herself fretting for a moment. She was certain the boy couldn't fly, so he was limited to moving on the ground, and she wasn't as fast as she was so she would easily lose him in the dust even moving on foot... It didn't take long for the half-phantom to come to a conclusion, even if it was an awkward one she didn't particularly like.

Her phantom half drifted towards him.

"... You can..." she hesitated, "... Ride it. But don't squeeze too hard."

This was already going to be awkward, she didn't need to be bearhugged while trying to fly. But it was the only way she could think of to get Leo there quickly.

Vita

"I want to get back to Hayate as soon as possible, you don't have to ask me twice," was Vita's swift response as she sat back in the bath. She'd guessed Nanoha was already trying to work beforehand, in any case. The other girl was almost always trying to work at getting something done, so it was no surprise. A large scale dimension transfer spell had to be both the explanation and the solution. What else could cause something like this, after all? But what was with this universe? Having all that creepy insight into their lives... if they really were spying on Hayate, Vita would never forgive them for it.

Regardless, the redheaded girl was surprised to see that Nanoha had been given the same room as herself, but it wasn't exactly negative at all. It was better then having no-one she knew around, after all, but at the same time it wasn't like having Hayate around either. After finishing off her bath, Vita exited the bathroom and dried off before getting dressed, taking some time to raid the fridge while she was here.

She might as well, after all. She was a growing girl!

Not that Vita take it kindly if anyone pointed out the fact that she did not, in fact, grow at all.

Some time later a phonecall arrived, alerting them to some sort of incident. It was part of their agreement with this world's Japanese government, after all, and it's likely the TSAB too would have wanted them to respond to any strange activity as well.

So it wasn't much longer before Vita activated her knight's armor and took flight, en route to the location.

What was discovered on arrival was... unusual. It was chunky piles of black dust that smelled like coal. Already present was the blue-haired girl from earlier.

"What is this stuff?" she asked, approaching one of the piles. Was it just big piles of carbon? Why would that be here? It didn't make much sense to the small girl.
