Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.
At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.
I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

Hoshino Hikari

Her home wasn't particularly far, and she had a little bit of homework to do. By her standards, it wasn't much and she'd have it done quite quickly, so there was no harm in stopping by the local convenience store for a snack. As Hikari made her way there, she found her thoughts drifting once again to the subject of the unusual dream she'd had. She couldn't remember the last time she'd had a dream that made so much sense while simultaneously making so little. It was as if it had been cut and past out of a story, or real events, but she hadn't read or watched anything like that recently and obviously it couldn't have been anything real, right? So why was it that she had such a strange dream?

As she walked, deep in thought, Hikari's red pigtails bobbed. But even still, due to her small size she wasn't exactly an easy person to notice, and as such, when she failed to notice someone crossing her path, they entirely missed her as well.

Moments later, the two girls collided. With a yelp of surprise, Hikari stumbled back and landed on her rear end. Thankfully she hadn't dropped anything, but...

"H-hey!" she cried, looking up at the perpetrator, "Watch where you're going!"

The girl looked like a foreigner, though Hikari wasn't sure where she was from. Platinum blonde hair, red-brown eyes, she almost seemed slightly familiar, like the small redhead had seen her somewhere before once, but not frequently enough to be certain as to where.

From atop a nearby rooftop, the girl who had been watching her continued her observation. On further inspection, it was unusual just how small she was, almost the size of a large doll. That and the fact she had wings made it unlikely she was human, really.

"... She looks like she has a bit of a temper, but that's not always a bad thing!" she declared, nodding to herself. Certainly, that little redheaded girl was going to be a great magical girl! She could sense it, the will to help people, the aptitude to wield magical powers... even if she was temperamental, that didn't mean she couldn't be great!

"Aaah, jeez, are you giving me more competition?"

The angel girl glanced back over her shoulder, to the source of the voice.

"You know I'm not the strongest magical girl, and you're piling on even more for me to fight?"

The blonde gave a small smile.

"I can't just ignore someone with lots of potential, I'm sorry," she replied.

"Aaaah jeez!" complained the speaker.

After a moment, however...

"... You know... you won't be able to make her a magical girl if she's stuck in the hospital for a couple weeks, right? As long as it's not too bad, just enough to keep her out of the Hex Night..."

"Eh?!"

@TheFake
Keep in mind you don't necessarily need to wait for me to do an update once you've posted. You can interact among one another, I'm only doing a big GM post when the Hex Night itself begins.
Edit: Oops.
"Ah..."

Everyone was already back? She hadn't yet sent for them. Fanilly, needless to say, found herself quite surprised at the swift return. It was a good surprise, of course, but that didn't make it any less surprisingly that her knights had returned on their own so quickly. She nodded to herself. Now was the time to fill everyone in on the situation.

"What is all the fuss about?" questioned the Earl, with a frown, "I may be an old man, but I have bones of steel and the mind of a fox! You needn't spend so much time worrying about me!"

For a few moments, Fanilly glanced back at Earl Achter, before sighing once more. This situation... she could only hope that one of the magi could dispel whatever enchantment had been placed on him. His son looked equally concerned.

Naturally, nearly everyone in the castle had now gathered, either to hope that the Earl could be cured... or to gawk at the immortal knight attempting to clean her armor. It wasn't every day you saw someone like that, after all.

Quickly, Fanilly did her best to explain the situation.

"There's... the Earl's mind has somehow been enchanted," she began, "Around a week ago, a young women in a dark dress suddenly appeared, and since then he's been unable to see weapons or any sign of conflict. He couldn't see the blood on our armor, nor even feel it when Sir Radistirin made him touch her armor. He couldn't even see his own sword. This enchantment must be removed as soon as possible."

The Earl himself simply watched with a frown. After all, he had no idea he had been enchanted in any way. To him, he had simply misplaced his sword, and this was a simple visit from a famed order of knights.

"Dame Lockhart, er... Dame Cymbeline Lockhart," Fanilly corrected herself, in order to avoid any confusion. She had to confess, she still wasn't quite able to tell the twins apart aside from their equipment and clothing, and so she feared misspeaking in relation to them. Now wasn't the time for any confusion. This had to be dealt with quickly. "Sir Yevan, if you have any ways in which you could break through this enchantment, you must try as soon as possible. Sir Indrau, if your sword can help in any way, please do anything you can."

Among those in the crowd that had gathered around Tyaethe was a young girl, no older then nine or ten, green-eyed and pale, with black hair. Her wide-brimmed travelling hat bobbed from side to side as she excitedly approached, swiftly outpacing any of the adults around her.

"So you're the immortal knight?" she asked, tilting her head to one side. She didn't seem particularly deterred by the sticky troll blood caked on Tyaethe's armor. "Did you kill a lot of trolls?"

Really the answer was obvious, there.

Caster

It was hard to say that Caster didn't feel some measure of pride in her own abilities when her Master called her a 'sublime craftswoman'. That being said, she wasn't about to let such feelings get they better of her. She could feel pride without being foolish. Her strategy in this Holy Grail War was not one that allowed for hubris, but pride was absolutely allowed. Satisfaction in carrying out her plots. Charging foolishly ahead out of hubris was simply a way to find oneself dead, insofar as Caster believed. So she simply gave her Master a small smile as they proceeded onward.

Of course, when her Master questioned if there was anyone worthy of note ahead, all the Servant had to do was reach out to the numerous spiders she had released all across the city. It had been only moments after the contract had been sealed that she released her eyes, thousands upon thousands upon thousands of spiders, small enough to be virtually invisible but numerous enough to swarm across the entire city. It would be difficult to escape her notice, but even such numbers could not be everywhere at once. She had not yet discovered any enemy Servants, for one, but she was quite capable of of observing much of the city. It was also nearly impossible for her spiders to penetrate defensive bounded fields... at least, the smallest, weakest ones she was using now. Caster was careful, regardless. She could not count on knowing the nature of every Servant even if she was able to locate all of them. There was a great deal of difference between seeing a Servant in action and encountering them directly.

"There are... three individuals leaving the Church. One appears to be a young girl, and is absolutely a Servant judging by that presence," Caster said, "... There is also a... child atop the roof? My eyes are unable to locate a Servant near her, but that does not mean there isn't one."

She could provide her own advice, and would, of course. But for the moment Caster decided to see what her Master's independent decision would be. Based on what she had seen so far, she hoped that it would be a wise one.

Caster would grow to dislike a Master who made foolish decisions.

Konpaku Youmu

"... Ah...?"

That... was a picture of Yuyuko-sama! Someone had drawn a picture of Yuyuko-sama! It was a rather playful-looking Yuyuko-sama, which... was typically the look Yuyuko-sama had anyway, but it wasn't just that. Her appearance, aside from perhaps some minor details, was almost spot-on! For a few moments, the silvery-haired half-phantom girl could only stare in mild shock at the site of the image of her mistress, drawn by someone from this world and posted on this world's internet... Were there more? Was this a common thing? She couldn't help but be curious!

"That's... that's Yuyuko-sama!" she exclaimed, "But why would someone know... how could someone in this world-... oh, I see."

She nodded to herself. Of course, in this world...

"This world's has entertainment that we star in, so because people appreciate it they're motivated to draw art of it," she continued, mostly to herself. It made sense, really. When people were inspired by something in her world, they would sometimes create works based on it. So there was no reason to assume that it wouldn't be the case here. That being said, it made the small girl feel at once curious and rather self-conscious. Did that mean people would draw art of her too...? She had to look it up now...

Of course, that would be for the future. Blushing a little bit when considering the comment on Yuyuko's figure, Youmu nodded to herself.

"In any case, you're probably right," she continued, "Yuyuko-sama is... Yuyuko-sama likes food. She likes food a lot."

Yuyuko-sama was an all-consuming black hole when it came to food, even.

"I think it would probably be one of the first things she would want to do in a new world. To see what the food is like."

@KoL@Raineh Daze@PKMNB0Y@TheUnknowable@Crusader Lord
Now that Saber could get a better look at the Lancer, what she saw was... disturbing. That blackness clinging to her body, shadowy matter of some nature... even from here, the King of Knights could feel it. Something deeply wrong and warped, something corrupted attached to the Lancer's body. One of her eyes was a shade of gold... something was horribly wrong with this Servant. Something had blackened her very existence. Almost immediately after Bathory's distraction, the white-haired Lancer hurled herself towards the horned Servant, attempting to drive the tip of that unusually-shaped spear directly through the pink-haired girl's throat.

Reaching into her mana core, Arturia allowed magical energy to burst through her body, filling her with even further strength, light flowing up Excalibur's blade. From this angle, she'd have to strike from above in order to deflect that spear...!

Breaking into a sprint, tossing snow up behind her, the armored girl suddenly sprang into the air, raising her weapon above her head before bringing it sharply towards, slamming the resplendent blade down onto the place where the shaft of the spear met the head, briefly burying the tip in the snow with the resounding clash of metal on metal. Before the enemy Lancer could pull her spear back up, Arturia immediately drove the tip of her sword towards her chest...!

... And as expected, had it blocked. Servants did not fall so quickly, after all. In fact, the motion of the spear's shaft to avert its wielder's impalement seemed almost instinctive, rather then a calculated move. It wasn't unexpected given how sudden the knight had attacked, and yet... On Arturia's second attack, forcing the Lancer back, her guess was confirmed. The Lancer's motions were swift, but there wasn't any intelligence behind the defense. It was not strategic in any sense, simply an automatic move made to save the enemy Servant's life as opposed to anything intended to force the blonde Saber to change her tactics.

However, guessing that the Lancer was acting entirely off of instinct and nothing else would be a mistake.

The tip of the spear suddenly launched forward, a pin-point strike aimed directly at Arturia's heart. Now, she was forced to defend, deflecting the oddly-shaped weapon only to have it nearly immediately lash out once more. The strikes were not wild attempts to deal damage, but instead targeted blows... the Lancer was inflicted with some form of madness, but not in a way that dulled her skills. Rather, it make her focus almost entirely on offense!

Again and again, spear met sword. The Lancer's speed was lower then expected from her class, but it was hardly enough to exploit. Still, the instinctive nature of that defense... the Saber-class Servant felt that if she focused on unexpected attacks she could overwhelm it!
@Natsu: I kind of assumed if she got here as an exchange student she'd at least have a working knowledge of Japanese. ^^;
There were flashes of light in the night sky. New stars igniting in the air. With each flash of light, the two figures could be see. Girls, one surrounded by floating mirrors, and another wielding some kind of enormous gauntlet. Again and again, lights flared. Mirrors slammed against a massive silver fist, and they girls fought. Beams of light lit up the night sky. Explosions ripped through the air as they struck at one another again and again.

This time, there was a massive explosion that rocked the night, blasting the gauntlet-wielding girl back through the darkness and sending her tumbling and skidding across a nearby rooftop. She rolled once, and with an ugly crack struck the wall behind her. For a few moments, she laid perfectly still, and it looked as though she might not be able to get back up. But then, with a shuddering breath, she struggled to her feet.

The mirror girl floated towards the rooftop.

"... You really should give it a rest," she said, simply, inclining her head to one side. "There's no way that you'll defeat me, not like this. You won't win the Hex Night."

The gauntlet-wielding girl growled. With a clank, her the silver metal of her gauntlet seemed to expand, letting out a whine as steam poured from its inner recesses.

"Like hell I'd give the prize to someone like you," she snarled, rising and turning to face her opponent. She drew back her arm, sections of the gauntlet spinning to life with a whir. "I'll go all out on you, if that's what it takes!"

"... Then I'll cease to hold back, as well," the floating girl replied, with a smile.

A silvery light erupted from the other girl's gauntlet, circular segments of the enormous fist spinning rapidly and releasing steam and smoke.

Three mirrors aligned in front of the floating girl.

"Airgetlam... OVERDRIIIIIVE!"

"Threefold Annihilation Star!"

"Mmmnn...?"

Her alarm had gone off.

The brunette rubbed her eyes, stirring as she blinked blearily. Had she been dreaming...? She yawned. It was something strange, filled with some sort of fanciful battle, like you might see in some sort of anime. She didn't know how to feel about that. She hadn't watched anything weird recently. Why would she have a weird dream like that?

She swung her small, slender legs over the side of the bed as she rose. It was such a vivid dream too... Like she was actually there. But things like that weren't real, were they?

In the mirror, as she rose, was the shape of a small girl, one who certainly looked quite a bit younger then sixteen years old, clad in orange pajamas that fit her small frame rather loosely. Her shoulder-length brown hair was to her shoulders, messy from bedhead, her brown eyes half-closed from early morning bleariness.

Dismissing the strange dream, she went about her normal business. Getting her school uniform ready, brushing her teeth, taking a shower, brushing tying up her hair. Now much more awake, she nodded firmly to herself, her characteristic pigtails bobbing. Soon enough, she was dressed in her school uniform, and made her way downstairs.

"Good morning, Hikari-chan," said her mother, a pretty woman in her thirties with the brown hair of her daughter.

"Good morning," replied Hikari, smiling at her mother as she set about having breakfast. Father had already left, his walking stick gone. He had to get to work early in the morning, after all.

With plenty of time to eat breakfast, the girl had time for her mind to return to the events of her dream. It was almost like it had its own narrative, and it had been so real... aaah, what kind of ridiculous nonsense was she thinking? There was no way she could have even been dreaming of something real. Premonitions of the future or visions of the past were something out of mythology. And certainly, even if they were true, they wouldn't feature anything so strange as two magical girls doing battle.

Eventually, she finished her breakfast, and set out on her way to school.

Hikari met her friends on the way there, chastising one of them over a failure to be up to date with her studies and growing irate when one of them joked about her height.

Everything was as usual.

Hikari conducted her duties as class rep and remained focused on her teachers.

Everything was as usual.

She ate lunch with her friends, deciding not to bring up her strange dream.

Everything was as usual.

She closed the school day by conducting her standard duties as class rep.

Everything was as usual.

And yet, as she began to depart from her school...

Hikari didn't understand why, but she felt almost like she was being watched.

Soon, her life would would be anything but the usual.

"... She'll be perfect!"

The small figure, the size of a young girl, smiled to herself as she stood atop the roof.

The Hex Night would soon begin, it was true, but after discovering a candidate to be a magical girl, how could she possibly hold back? She knew many of the other girls were already preparing, some would be arriving in Japan for this Hex Night today. She rather sadly noted that there had already been at least one fight, even though the Hex Night had yet to begin properly... but there was no way she could ignore that this little brunette girl(perhaps she was so smart she was moved up to high school!) was an excellent candidate.

She smiled to herself. She might be throwing her into the Hex Night, but...

The Hex Night was one of the most important rituals a magical girl could be involved in, wasn't it? It was a chance this girl deserved to have.

And it was going to begin tonight.

Taking to the air, the strange girl decided to observe her chosen candidate.

Indeed, all across the city, there were girls preparing for battle that would soon come.

The Hex Night of Magical Girls.

Konpaku Youmu

As Youmu followed along, she nodded to herself. Really... Yuyuko could be in any one of these places. Ah, what if she was spending too much? Yuyuko-sama had quite a lot of money to spend, but at the same time she couldn't be sure how much she had. If she got carried away... Well, Youmu hoped she wouldn't. It was a silly thing to do, after all, if she ran out of money here there wouldn't be any way to actually pay for anything... Well, no, Youmu could provide some money but... Well, hopefully she wouldn't have to. Though ideally Youmu herself could take over cooking for Yuyuko. It wasn't easy all the time, but she had come to enjoy cooking for Yuyuko-sama.

When Leo questioned Yuyuko's appearance, Youmu took a moment to think. How would she describe Yuyuko-sama's appearance? Well, there were multiple ways, several of which the pale girl blushed slightly about and swiftly dismissed from her mind. No, she would stick to the most obvious, identifiable features that would be easily seen when looking for her.

"... Yuyuko-sama is... pale, more then me. She has pink, wavy hair down to her shoulders, and is most likely wearing a blue hat and frilled kimono," she began. "She's also taller then me, um..."

Youmu paused for a few moments. Yuyuko wasn't especially tall, but she was certainly taller then the diminutive half-phantom girl. Youmu couldn't recall exactly how much, however. Was it necessary to say? Should she? Maybe she should...

Vita

Vita wasn't entirely sure what was happening. One moment they were walking along, the next moment someone with some kind of spatial transport spell had appeared and was using a high-power barrage spell on them of some sort. Hinanawi seemed to know her, at the very least, and she also seemed to want the giant, scythe-wielding girl. In any case, that meant that they couldn't let her have her. As much as the hotheaded redhead felt she was more suited to attack, it wouldn't be a good idea to abandon the white-haired dragon girl until she'd dealt with the initial barrage of shots.

Holding Eisen out in front of her, a dome-like red barrier, the partial form of the defensive spell Panzerhindernis, quickly materialized, the barrage of shots striking the barrier with a shower of magical sparks but failing to pierce through it. Almost immediately as the initial shots dissipated, Vita canceled the barrier and squared up her feet, raising Eisen back over her shoulder almost immediately.

There was a mechanical whir as it loaded a cartridge.

"Kometfliegen!" intoned her armed device, the head growing larger once more as it generated a large orb of iron. When Vita brought her hammer down it sent the orb hurtling through the air with a crack, directly towards the strange woman emerging from the hole in the air. The diminutive girl quickly took to the air and followed her attack up, her hammer's head reducing back to normal in size as another catridge loaded and it began to change its form...
