Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

roleplayerguild.com/posts/5… If anyone's up for fighting some kaiju, why not try out my new RP, Godzilla: YATAGARUSU?

@1Charak2: Rain's reluctant because she feels like in this setup it will make your character feel irrelevant, and honestly I share the same concern. Are you sure there's nothing you could do to tweak her power setup? Maybe make her a mage who dabbled a *little* in Necromancy with more of a focus on another category of magic?
@King Cosmos: Yes, this thread is for filling that final spot basically. ^^;
@1Charak2: I've been waiting for some kind of solid feedback from Rain since she's raised the concerns.
It's been years.

Years since the last war for the Holy Grail concluded in Fuyuki City. Years since the final combatant fell, and the war concluded in the destruction of the Grail itself. And the remnants, too, were dismantled, cast apart by a former participant. Indeed, the Fuyuki Holy Grail has been utterly annihilated, no longer to be of any use. And yet...

Some of the components remained. The allure of a wish-granting artifact that could be used to obtain the Root of all Knowledge proved itself to be too great. The scattered fragments of the Holy Grail were assembled, rituals and replications of previous techniques were used to attempt to piece them together. And yet, they could never fully recreate the Grail that had been created by the Einzberns. But with the fragments they had collected, with the pieces that had been recovered and recreated, they were able to produce a copy, a replica of the original Grail. A hacked together, improvised system that was not fully tested nor fully explored, but a replica of the original nevertheless.

This creation, this new Holy Grail, this copy of the original, was placed in the coastal United States town of Redrock. Named for the reddish stone jutting up from its beaches, the town is not known for any kind of unusual activity. And yet it happens to be the location of one of the highest concentrations of leylines in the United States. Far from Japan, there was no way for the participants of the last War to attempt to interfere if they so chose. At least, as far as the creators of this new Grail were concerned. A variety of interests converge now, on Redrock.

The Mage Association, suspicious and yet intrigued by the revival of the failed ritual. The Church, desiring once again to see if this truly is a recreation of a holy relic. They have even dispatched one of their most potent Executors as an overseer.

An overseer for a new Holy Grail War.

The town of Redrock is a sleepy, peaceful town. While it is not rural, far from it, it is not an immense city. It shares many similarities, in fact, with the small city of Fuyuki that the war once occurred in. It possesses its own attractions, including the Redrock Amusement Park and the aged catacombs dating back to the birth of the United States.

It would do well for the participants in this new war to gain experience with their surroundings.

So... a Fate RP! The above introduction should probably have covered setting well enough, but I'm going to lay down some quick ground rules before I go further.

  • No Servants Older than Gilgamesh
    • That's canon.
  • No Servants from 1900 or later
    • Known rule of the setting, even if I do think there's some cool candidates from beyond then. Sadly, Simo Hayha will never qualify for anything but perhaps the most far-flung future Grail Wars.
  • No Servants with more then three Noble Phantasms
    • Isn't that enough? Most have one or two. More crosses into far too much power.
  • Standard Seven
    • We'll be having seven servants and seven masters summoning said Servants. Sorry, but this is going to be a traditional grail war,
      so first come first serve when it comes to classes. ^^; In addition, players from the last version of the RP will be allowed first pick of Servant slots.
  • Please sign up with both a Servant and a Master
    • This hurts the last point a little, but ensures there is balance in numbers. Don't worry, you won't be playing with yourself. Pairs will be arranged between players, or I can pair people if they're stuck.
  • If you get yourself into a situation where your character may be killed, I'm sorry
    • The premise of this RP guarantees that Servants will be dying. And if your Master messes up, they're at risk too. However, Servants at least are all famous figures from the past, and shouldn't go down easily.
  • No reality marbles
    • These are super-rare. Exceptions MAY be made but it's unlikely.
  • Have fun!
    • That's what this RP is here for. Follow standard RP etiquette and my guidelines, and you should have no problem.
  • Tiger Dojo
      Finally, @Raineh Daze will be helping me run this RP, and will naturally be in charge of the Tiger Dojo.

Okay, aiming to start this this coming weekend. Would like it if people got their bios done for that. ^^;
@Sho Minazuki: Honestly I'd like to hear a bit more about the backstory, just to make sure your intent gels with the setting. ^^;
If @Eisenhorn responded to me I could get it moving again, but I can't really do anything at the moment to push past this scene.
Finally a replacement for the now kind of an NPC'd Vita.

  • Name: Souseiseki
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: The Fourth Rozen Maiden
  • Personality: Souseiseki is a very serious girl. As a Rozen Maiden, she follows the word of her medium to the letter, and there is little in the world that can sway her from this duty. However, if one thing were to come close, enough to make her hesitate, enough to reach her even in a dark moment, it would be her bond with her twin sister, Suiseiseki. Souseiseki does dearly love her elder twin, but the fact is that in spite of being the younger of the two sisters she is quite clearly the more mature of the two, at least in most situations. She is willing to fight, even if she does not enjoy it, and she dislikes lying. There has only been one lie she has ever spoken, and it is not an act she ever intends to repeat. Of course, her serious attitude isn't totally lacking any sort of humor, even if the rare more humorous comments Souseiseki makes are usually delivered in a rather flat fashion. In spite of being ruthless fighter, she is a rather kindhearted girl deep down who does not like to see others suffer. Souseiseki has a boyish look, and she does not mind being mistaken for a male doll, as evidenced by her more masculine form of dress and the useage of more masculine pronouns. It's likely she would not take well to being made to dress in a feminine fashion due to being totally unused to it. She is reluctant to harm humans, as that is not the purpose Rozen Maidens were created for, but will do so if given no choice or if ordered to by her medium. Finally, Souseiseki lacks knowledge of certain, more intimate subjects. As a result, she is completely unaware of the fact that talking about, for example, having her body built may come off as incredibly inappropriate and awkward.
    It's likely best not to tell her how this sounds.
  • Brief History: Souseiseki is the fourth Rozen Maiden, created by Rozen as Suiseiseki's twin, in order to compete in the Alice Game. Their Father's intent was to enforce a battle in which only one of the seven dolls can become 'Alice' by killing the others, though that has stalled in some ways. As of now, Souseiseki has been reunited with her sister, but things are about to change for her once again...
  • Universe of Origin: Rozen Maiden
  • Equipment: Souseiseki utilizes a pair of golden garden shears, which are quite large when compared to her own body(though of average size to a human). While their chief function is to be utilized to allow her to cut souls and memories, they can also be used as a melee weapon, similarly to a sword. While not a piece of equipment, she is accompanied by her artificial spirit, Lempicka, who allows her to summon her shears. Finally, she has her case, which is where she sleeps. She will attempt to synchronize her sleeping patterns with her medium's, but if they make a habit of staying up very late this is unlikely to work well.
  • Abilities: To begin with, a Rozen Maiden requires a medium to utilize the full capabilities of their power. By attaching herself to the consciousness of a medium, Souseiseki is capable of utilizing far more power then she would otherwise, and of fighting properly. By using her golden shears, Souseiseki can cut through such abstractions as souls and memories. With a medium, she can do this outside of the target's dream, but without one she may only manifest her shears and her power within such dream. While she is within the dream world, the soul of the dreamer manifests as a tree. By cutting away at its branches, she can alleviate them of trauma, but if she cuts all of them they begin to lose their memories. She can even damage the soul directly in such manner. With a medium, any Rozen Maiden also becomes physically strong enough to threaten a full-sized human being, meaning Souseiseki's abilities become far more dangerous, and her very small size becomes an asset if she is forced to fight. In spite of Souseiseki's potent capabilities, it is only in conjunction with her beloved twin sister that she is capable of using the full power of the shears and watering can to heal or destroy a soul. Normally, she would be capable of accessing a world between worlds known as the N-field, but that appears to be impossible currently.
  • Other: N/A

As usual I tried to avoid spoilers in the backstory, even if it's not exactly a recent manga. ^^;
@1Charak2: Well, given Rain raised the concern of overlap, I kind of need a final conclusion from her as well.

@Sho Minazuki: I'll give you another look-over shortly.
@Lord of Evil: For a little help, if you still want to make a hundi, the main inspiration behind them is tales of chivalric romance and knights errant.
