Two more days to a year that I'm not supposed to be counting. The little Tom Hanks in my soul is marking days without you. Castaway on an island surrounded by an ocean of tears getting deeper daily.

Two months and a week. I miss you. This sucks. Is it bad that I pretend that you PCS'd and will be back before long? Then I remember you're gone and won't be back even if I wished it. And I do. Daily.

Two months, four days. I miss you. Can't listen to Mike and the Mechanics "In The Living Years" anymore. It came on at work yesterday as the last song and I cried.

Bio

Ugh...I hate this part. So I'm super into Sailor Moon...which no one else is...and that's okay. I also really love Items, Escaflowne, Vampire Knight, Fushigi Yugi, Ah My Goddess, K Dramas, Chinese and Tiwanise Dramas as well. I torture people by making them read the TV.

Oh this is where I tell you I'm American...and I just lost a few people but oh well. Trust me if I could afford to live overseas I would. So yeah...that's me.

Hey, this looks great and I would love to apply, if that's alright with you. Would I post the character here first and then if she's approved move her over to the Character's thread?

Also, I don't know if this is a silly question or not but, how do we decide on an occupation? Are there already existing places in the city and we decide where we work, or do we just make the places up ourselves? Sorry if this has been asked before and I just didn't notice. I'm getting a bit lost in all these posts and I have no idea how I'll ever manage to catch up xD

You're on point with the CS concept. There are no silly questions here. You can fit the character to a job or if you want to bring an outside job in. Seems like a lot of us are sticking to what we know for jobs. Point is to have fun. Oh and welcome a board!!!

“So not your sweetheart, Slingshot. We need to get out of here now. I am sure cops are on the way and the less someone like me talks to them the less I get blamed for. Lie to me again and I will have no qualms getting the truth out of you.” I pointedly look at Slingshot. “For those of you who don't know my name is Jocelyn, but Tonic will do. I plan on getting the hell out of here. I have a backup plan that I did not plan on using for a few more years but beggars cannot be choosers. I am leaving up the coast. I have space but we are not playing here, dick measuring is out this is a team effort. You people are going to need me.” I ate the protein bar and sent an email.

<Finnlay it's Jocelyn. In a bind. Headed your way in about 4 hours. Meet me at the Parkman Bandstand. Need a favor.>

I walked over to Legion’s Fist, who had left and come back by the time I finished the email and protein bar. “You need it, you’re getting it and I will not die. That is practically impossible so far. Pass out possibly. Just a little rusty on healing this many at once. If you would comply this would be easier. I have enough room to fit all of you if you are needing it. Any of you know to drive?” I looked around as Legion's Fist shrugged and pulled off his glove and I clasped his hand as if we here about to shake hands. It was done quickly enough and I was slipping my right glove back on.

Ethan smiled at her wit. Then waited politely as the man in the wheelchair talked to Victoria. She got a bit ruffled by him and then shouted encouragement to Mali. Dragging her attention back to him he turned to face her more drawing her eye with his movements. “Victoria. The goddess of Victory in Greco-Roman times. Venus would be just as apropos. Siren call indeed. I'm sure you're familiar with that term very well since everything about you is just that. A siren call. I thought I came back to Sol to relax and enjoy myself but I promise you that I won't have that option if I don't get to see you more often. As for right now would you like to dance?” His voice got that hint of sex and promise of satisfaction. “I promise only to bite if you ask, or order as you prefer.” He stood and offered his hand to her. Eyes smouldering and his smile just a touch wicked.

What would it take to convince him other than the cops showing up?

I was thinking maybe sly and Tonic might know each other from like brief emails possibly a fight ring where she'd earn extra cash healing up the wounded. Maybe have a simple house that's "been in the family" for years. She's bound to have a few properties here and there.

Siobhan grinned at his statement of not having to wait and that they were leaving in it now. He tossed her a red bag and said he bought her a jacket. She caught it on reflex stunned that he had clearly spent money on her and a bit confused. Putting on the jacket she marvelled at the fact that it fit her like a glove. Why did he-? How did he know my size? The color had to be a guess. My favorite color. Okay but the fit? My arms are a bit longer than normal but to fit across my chest and be able to zip it up? The man should have been a tailor. Or they have a size called slender but busty. She laughed and smoothed her hand down an arm reverently.

She looked over at Joel as he swung himself into the seat and took down the steering wheel from its hanger attaching it with an affirmative, metallic click! to the steering column. With a small twist of the key, the battery came alive first with an electric hum then the fuel pump sounded with a growl.

Then the warehouse erupted in the echo of an unfiltered exhaust note. The best way of describing it was cross between a banshee and roaring lion, completely, elemental, visceral and bone-jarringly loud. Siobhan groaned tilting her head back just a little bit. She bit her bottom lip as she reached out and opened the door.

The workers seemed to stop in their movements just to see the commotion and joining several others that gathered when the cover was removed. Joel tapped the accelerator a few times blasting the rpms up. Siobhan shivered in appreciation as the beauty growled and roared. She could already feel the vibration of the engine playing over her and shivered again at the thought of just how much closer she was going to be to that barely leashed wild thing claiming to be a car. A fireball of unburned fuel popped from the side-exit exhaust and was gone again in a flash. Joel nodded and glanced over to her. She couldn’t hear him, but his lips clearly read: Let’s go.

She laughed giddily and slid in shutting the door gently but firmly. Situating herself in the seat she ran her eyes over the interior design. It was very clean cut and spartan nothing flashy to take away from the drama of the car itself. Her eyes sparkling with wild excitement she smiled wickedly and made a motion like a seat belt and shrugged. She'd never been in a race car so while the concept of the five point harness was easy to guess she didn't want to do it wrong. Plus it was too tempting to see how far she could push him. His actions were writing checks that he couldn't cash. Let's see how far to the bank he'd go. She grinned wickedly then leaned over her hair falling across his arm. The faint hint of coffee and vanilla that accompanied her last time present. She raised her voice over the roar of the engine. “Check. Your move.” She sat back with a satisfied, wild, wicked smirk on her face the challenge blatantly obvious in her eyes.
Thinking bartender, social worker, teacher/professor, family doctor, as just some ideas.

What's one profession we dont have yet?

All of the above I believe.

Ethan noticed the two girls that sat down at the bar. Both attractive and no wedding bands to be seen. Excellent. Marcus has been caught staring at the dark haired one. A shame since Ethan's preference was brunettes. Petite ones at that. He'd chat her up and see if it went anywhere. Looking at Chris he nodded. “Good luck with the encouragement. Excuse me.”

He got up with his drink and took the seat that the other girl vacated to sign up to sing. He turned to the girl sipping the white wine and smiled at her. “Hi I'm Ethan and I saw you and wanted to ask you something besides your name. Are you an interior decorator? Because when I saw you the entire room became beautiful.” His voice was smooth and sensually hypnotic and he smiled looking her in the eyes as he reached out his hand to shake hers. Instead of shaking her hand he turned it over and kissed her knuckles lightly not breaking eye contact. “And I hope you shoes are tied because I'd hate for you to fall for anyone else.”

Siobhan changed into a teal long sleeved v-neck shirt that wasn't paint stained while Joel cleaned up. Her black skinny jeans passed inspection so no need to change those. Finger combing the tangles out of her hair she wondered what was at the airport. It better not be one of those jokes like he tried with the blinker fluid. The conspiracy theories in the talk radio were actually interesting and she had jotted down a few topics to discuss later. Pick Joel's brain a little bit.

She was sitting in the living room when Joel came out studying the painting again and wondering if he'd appreciate one of hers enough to put it up here as well. Maybe. She'd ask him later.

There was an exciting anticipation in the silence of the Uber that they took out to the airport. His good mood was infectious and she didn't mind that her curiosity rose with each passing minute. They got there just as she was about to ask what they were out here for. Getting out she decided that she was going to keep quiet and enjoy the surprise.

The night was a little chilly and she hadn't quite anticipated it to get as cool as it had. Shivering a tiny bit she kept pace with Joel his mood getting more excited as they passed the receptionist who she smiled at and waved as they smiled back. It was a short walk to a receiving area where pallets were being unloaded. Joel's mood seemed to swing even further up as he smiled wildly. He swung his bag around and reached in for something. Drawing out a folder rolling it up and pointing out something covered in a silly metallic cover. “That's our piece right there.” He practically had to yell to be heard. His smile turned into a grin of epic proportions and Siobhan grinned back excitedly as they moved up to the desk.

The attendant, apparently someone Joel knew pretty well, shook his head and smiled broadly as they approached. “I don’t know how you pulled that one off old boy.” He said taking the roll of customs and import paperwork from Joel’s hand.

“C’mon, let’s see it,” Joel said. “I’m taking it outta here tonight.”

The small barrier that separated them raised as the lock was released. Joel took Siobhan’s hand quite unexpectedly and lead her over, not taking his eyes off the prize as they walked. Uh wait...I bet he doesn't realize he's holding my hand. What's interesting is that I don't mind it. That's um...later. Dissect later. For now enjoy. This is going to be interesting. What has him so worked up? If I wasn't already fully bursting with curiosity I would be now.

The roar of a heavy aircraft rotating down the runway sounded in the distance outside and the heavy covering fluttered lightly in the breeze that came through the air off the flightline. It was almost surreal, like a scene from a movie as they removed the clips from the base of the skid. The wind swept under rippling the metallic cover like a wave first teasing a black wheel and a letter-marked tire. They peeled it back slowly from the front, carefully rolling it as they went revealing carbon fiber angles and swooping aerodynamics in a satin-black finish. They flipped the remainder over the high, rear spoiler and folded it over storing it with an extra set of tires on the back of the pallet.

“Remember that bet I told you about?” Joel said turning back to Siobhan who nodded mesmerized by the beauty in front of her. “This is what I won.” Her eyes met his. He's sharing this moment with me?!?!? And I'm freaking speechless!!! This is beautiful!!! I swear if it sounds half as good as it looks...dear god!!! And the ride?!?! The man is out to kill me with pleasure!!!

Set before them and unmarked save for a small outline of Suzuka Speedway behind the driver’s window and the factory badging was the same car that raced in the Grand Prix with only one noticeable difference: there were two seats inside the roll-cage rather than one. Joel walked alongside running one hand over the refined lines of the wind-tunnel tested, completely hand-built body just barely allowing his fingertips to touch the paint. “Most of the time I was over there was spent building this car up the way I wanted it.” He said with the utmost seriousness. “It’s not legal for GT racing,” He continued, looking at it. “I wanted all the race restrictions removed, just so we could run flat out, no rules. We tested it at Suzuka over several days until I was satisfied.” He looked on solemnly.

Siobhan shivered in reaction to his fawning over the car. Oh that is just SO SEXY it's wrong. Thank god he can't read minds right now. He wouldn't survive the ego trip he'd be getting from me.

Digging in his bag he took out a metal plate. The standard Washington State, SOL CITY registration. The large characters spelled out LAPTIME.

“I once told someone the 300 was my Mona Lisa,” He said looking back. “This is the Sistine Chapel.”

Siobhan walked around the masterpiece in awe. She reached out but didn't touch it just hovered millimeters away from it. Putting fingerprints on it seemed wrong. She came around back to stand by Joel admiring his work of art. She was so keyed up that she got closer than she normally did; which typically was arms length or what she could determine was a safe zone. She was definitely within arms reach. Not crowding him but closer than she normally got. With the exception of the roof, of course. “Wow...just...wow. I'm speechless right now. She's beyond gorgeous, seriously though no words do her justice. I really don't know what to say, other than thank you and if I don't get to ride in her then I may just kill you. Slowly. Then bring you back to life only to kill you again till you agree. You seem a decent fellow I hate to kill you.” She didn't seem worried about how close she was and actually was comfortable with the lack of distance. She trusted Joel and it spoke volumes for her to be able to relax in his presence and let her guard down. She grinned at him.

Siobhan listened intently to Joel's tirade, albeit short, about the class system and touching on societal faux pas. It was nice to have someone other than Paige think the same way she did. “Woah there Speed Racer. Didn't mean to tune you up there. You have a good point and I agree.” She organized some paperwork. “Seriously? Lettuce and ice water. Wow savage. Give me a nice rare steak and salty steak fries so that I can soak up the juices any day. I'm definitely a full course meal compared to that. Eat your heart out Julia Childs.” Siobhan rearranged a few files then put them in a cabinet. “Okay so offend was too strong a word. I don't want to be a stereotype. Home wrecker or any of the nastier words that come with it. Glad to know that isn't the case.”

She stood up straight rather than leaning on the wall. Grinning she said. “Not coming just breathing hard. Sure I'll go with you.”
