‘Hm?’ the girl in the swimsuit turned and looked towards the incoming group of Pokémon as well as the blind trainer and Vivia, because she’s here.
‘Yeah, I’m Lin. I’ll be your guide down Descent Tower. The first thing I can tell you is leaving your Pokémon outside the door is completely unnecessary, as is wearing any sort of unique clothing for going underwater, really. Dive is such a convenient thing. Now, then. The two of you?’
‘The two of us, yes. And, um, all these Pokémon,’ Vivia said, gesturing back towards the lot of them…
Lin gave them a raised eyebrow.
‘Yeah, uh, if you could return them to their Pokéballs, at least most of them, that’d be great. We will have somewhat limited space. In any case. Cutiecruel!’ Lin said, throwing a Pokéball that she retrieved from… somewhere… into the air, and it promptly opened and a large jellyfish Pokémon took shape.
Pokédex Entry #73 – Tentacruel, the Jellyfish Pokémon. It lives in complex rock formations on the ocean floor and traps prey using its 80 tentacles, which are normally kept short but can extend seemingly endlessly by absorbing ocean water, which wrap around prey to weaken them with poison. Its red orbs glow when it grows excited or agitated, and allows it to fire harsh ultrasonic blasts.
‘Let’s go in,’ Lin gestured to Skylar and Vivia, gave Eryn’s Pokémon one more raised eyebrow, and then headed inside. Inside was flooded with water, with stairs that led both up out of the water and down into it. Assuming Skylar grabbed onto the Tentacruel as gestured by Lin, the jellyfish promptly jumped into the water and enveloped itself with a bubble before diving with them. It was a special little bubble in which they could safely inhabit the watery depths, because convenience. Regardless, the trainers and the Pokémon floated down the rather long yet unremarkable tower, before arriving in what lay below. A whole new city, just below their feet.
Flooded Lakewatch
Beneath Lakewatch Town lies a completely different world, one which was clearly constructed to stay. Monuments and pillars showing off the architectural skill of worlds past lie spread around the rocky buildings that to this day serve as the foundation of modern day Lakewatch Town. Countless little buildings stacked on top of one another with little openings for doors, their layout seemingly random creating what could best be described as an underwater labyrinth of buildings that cannot quite be described as ruins, on account that they are far too intact to be described by that moniker. Across the underwater floor countless little forgotten trinkets lie scattered, and in the middle of it all stands a mighty temple of some form… who even knows what it really is?
However, the underwater city is not abandoned, not by a long shot. In fact, right about here floated by a huge, green piece of-
Pokédex Entry #186 – Politoed, the Frog Pokémon. It often gathers groups of other Pokémon and act like their leader. Their echoing cries are known to have Poliwag and Poliwhirl gathering from far and wide, supplying their troops. When three or more gather, they sing in a loud chorus that’s more like bellowing. The longer and curlier “hair” strand, the more status it has as a Politoed.
… Which was promptly followed by a whole little legion of Poliwag and a couple Poliwhirls.
Pokédex Entry #60 – Poliwag, the Tadpole Pokémon. It walks on two small newly grown legs, but it is much faster swimming than walking. Its damp skin is so thin, one can see its spiralling innards through the stomach, but the skin is so flexible that most fangs cannot break through it.
Pokédex Entry #61 – Poliwhirl, the Tadpole Pokémon. Its legs are well developed and it can live both on land and water, but it prefers water. On land, it sweats to stay moist and slippery if attacked. The spiral pattern on its belly subtly undulates, which causes those watching it to fall asleep.
And over there, floated a huge, blue and and black monster of a-
Pokédex Entry #537 – Seismitoad, the Vibration Pokémon. It’s capable of vibrating the bumps all over its body, channeling the energy into powerful punches or quakes. It’s able to shoot a paralyzing liquid from the head-bumps as well. They’re decently popular with the elderly, who use the vibrations for massages.
… Just… drifting by… was a Seismitoad on its way to who knows where.
And over there, partly buried in the dirt on the floor of the underwater town…
Pokédex Entry #340 – Whiscash, the Whiskers Pokémon. Despite its looks, it’s an extremely territorial Pokémon that will trash about with enough force to trigger earthquakes if a foe approaches it. It claims the bottom of ponds or swamps for itself, and then eats anything that moves around there. It can tell when earthquakes will happen, which people have made use of.
Given that the whole underwater town still stands, it’s likely this one hasn’t earthquaked a lot. Still, Lakewatch Town is right above…
This is a high-level area.
‘Wow… this is such a sight… Vivia told, for now having Venonat on her shoulder as she looked around.
‘It is, indeed…’ Lin said, something melancholy in her tone as she gazed out over the surrounding buildings. ‘Anyways, time to be a guide. What you’re looking at is Flooded Lakewatch, where the people of Lakewatch Town once lived, built by our ancestors. Dragon Lake as we know it was once much smaller, but over time, the amount of water in the lake has steadily grown. The people at the time decided that the solution to this problem was to build upwards, rather than to move anywhere. This has resulted in all the towers and multi-leveled living quarters you see around you, as the inhabitants moved upwards one flooded floor at a time.
Today, Dragon Lake leaks out through the southern river and also a couple rivers going through Route 2 and Infested Woods, so it’s unlikely it’ll grow much more, but the buildings remain standing down here as proof of the feat of engineering that is the modern Lakewatch Town, the town resting right above us. At some point a separation between old and new was built, making Descent Tower the only way down here, but we still come down here regularly to ensure that there are no cracks in the foundation. Would be terrible if Lakewatch just up and collapsed one day. There’s also plenty of treasures around, so treasure hunting can be fu-’
‘ROTOOOOM!’
Pokédex Entry #479 – Rotom, the Plasma Pokémon. Its body is composed of plasma. It is known to inhabit abandoned buildings. It is a mischievous Pokémon, known to possess machinery to play pranks and cause destruction. Its type changes depending on the machine it possesses.
Everything was suddenly interrupted by Vivia shouting out at her Rotom, the currently washing-machine formed Pokémon (giving it a water-type) having drifted over and positioned itself riiiiiiiiiiight above Whiscash, who hadn’t noticed it. Rotom, with a mischievous grin, was sloooooowly reaching down to potentially poke on the territorial earthquake causing Pokémon…
‘Rotoooom! Don’t you dare! Come back this instant, or so help me…!’ Vivia demanded with a bit of a panicked expression, while Lin was staring with an intensely neutral expression at the strange scene before her, and, well, a Rotom intent on maaaybe irritating a Pokémon that could cause earthquakes under a city on stilts.
That aside. Skylar had come here for a reason, and… and he felt it. Somehow, the blind guy of them got some sort of a feeling of where he was supposed to go. And, in fact, so did Vivia. She was just a little too occupied to share this experience right now.
Now what?
1. Search the area. Maybe find a Pokémon that isn’t immediately obvious, look for items or inspect the place for interesting things? 2. Train Pokémon. Just be aware that most things here can probably eat you alive. 3. Specify. If you specify what you want to do, the GM will take it into account and tell the result. 4. Trigger random event. Force the GM to use his imagination to make a scenario for you. 5. Area Specific: Go Deeper. There’s something calling in the depths of Flooded Lakewatch. Do you want to brave the depths and see what it might be?
‘You’re most welcome! Keep me updated on how your trip is going! Good luck!’ Kalmia told Basil when he came to tell her he had all he needed. Then he got out and said that to Cyril while Rodger was there, and…
‘I’ll challenge you to a battle next time we meet, to gauge your progress. With that said,’ and so Rodger put on his helmet (because we’re advocating good biking here) and started the engine again, because Cyril was probably pretty done with the convo based on the GM’s chat with him, and prepared to ride off into the nonexistent sunset for now.
Chloe’s there, too. She’s going to have a comment if he decides to get going. Will save that for the next post, though.
Basil is currently in Pureplain City. What now?
Pureplain City is placed on the south-west brink of Isson, with the town facing the water and spreading quite far. The further in-town you go, the higher the buildings become, but the suburbs spread quite far. In terms of sheer landmass, it might even compete with Worldedge City, although maybe not in height. Life passes normally within this city. Children grow up alongside their parents in houses in the long, friendly streets. Jobs come from the depths of the town in the taller buildings. Schools grow from the reasonably high amount of children in need of tuition. And of course, there are lots of Pokémon.
In Pureplain City, human and Pokémon work together. Be it for manual labour or just for company, Pureplain houses often contain at least one household Pokémon and there are many Trainer's Schools around the city have always been plentifully attended, not counting the recent drop of embarking trainers due to the Team Wars. In addition, Pureplain Harbor is known as the “Gateway of Isson”, as that’s where all the ferries from outside the region dock, giving life to quite the marketplace. A common attraction of the city is the Super Contest stage, but other than that, Pureplain remains what it has always been. Pure and plain.
1. Find Pokémon. Can still search for Pokémon in towns~ 2. Talk. In cities, there are considerably more people one can talk to. Specify what kind you’re looking for. 3. Exit. Exit the town to any of the connected areas. 4. Specify. If you specify what you want to do, the GM will take it into account and tell the result. 5. Trigger random event. Force the GM to use his imagination to make a scenario for you. 6. Notable Buildings. Visit any of the facilities of the city! 6.1. Pokémon Center. Heal all your Pokémon. 6.2. PokéMart. Go to a store and buy things. 6.3. Gym. ??? 6.4. Super Contests. Rank 2 / 4. Where hopefuls become idols! 6.5. Trainer’s School. Where young trainers study to become better. Has a little park of wild Pokémon. 6.6. Kalmia’s Lab. You know you’re always welcome. 6.7. Pureplain Harbor. Known as the Gateway of Isson, it has a marketplace and ferries to places. 6.8. Pureplain Airport. The Gateway of Isson also has a way to dock your flying ships, apparently! 7. Familiar Faces. Kalmia, Cyril, Jacques, Rodger, Chloe, Tim & Tom… and Amelia somewhere else in the city, not that any of you know her.
Connected areas: Route 1. Easier path, just follow the bigger road. Route 2. Walk through quite an amount of suburbs until you eventually reach the path. Sea. There’s water, alright. Can take you anywhere you want to go, assuming you have means to traverse it.
And with that, Pureplain City now has an airport! Of course, Pokémon are 100% allowed on the planes, regardless of any possible life-threatening situations that involve the use of Pokémon moves on a plane. Heck, they probably allow battles on-board with no danger of breaking the walls, alike how battles on ships or in corridors is totally fine. The flight attendants were totally Lopunnys, too, obediently serving snacks and such to the passengers. Speaking of passengers, a great deal of them were Pokémon, from people bringing their Bunnelbys, a Flabébé flying about, and two seats taken by a huge Pangoro. Just because.
That aside. Ryu eventually found his way through Pureplain City, the city having many have Lillipups and Meowths around as he walked, and more than the occasional Pidgey mixed in with the crowds of people wandering around. There was, of course, the much more occasional unique Pokémon, but moving on. Eventually, he found his way to Kalmia’s lab, saw the state of the front yard, the dude on a bike that was about to leave, and summoned the courage to walk up to the door and knocking on the door…
And shortly after the door blew open by this dude jumping out in a hurry, running over to stop the guy on the bike.
To Basil, and perhaps Cyril too but he missed it because of talking, there were a couple of knocks on the door before Cyril shoved open the door.
‘Oh, dear! He’s here!’ Kalmia called, as she hurried over to the door after Cyril passed.
It is completely up to @BlackMaiden if Ryu avoided the door in time or not. Regardless.
‘Ryu! I’m so happy you could make it! Are… are you alright?’ this blonde woman in glasses and a lab-coat asked as she came over to the now-open door. ‘I’m Professor Kalmia! Here, come on, in!’
+ labcoat.
Inside the lab was a rectangular room, but the usable space was more round because the room had bookshelves placed in a circle around an area in the middle, not properly taking advantage of the space in the corners. The shelves contained varying books and papers of research, as well as the occasional Pokéballs. In the back and right, a large amount of what appeared to be computer servers filled about 40% of the available space, and they were coupled to a laptop which stood on a desk to the left of it. Other than the laptop, there was also a large amount of papers and binders on it, making it impossible to place anything else on there.
To the right of the table was a healing station from a Pokémon Center, with places to place six Pokéballs, along with a large cylinder thing with a glass middle and a hatch that one likely were to place something moderately large within. There was nothing that said what it actually was. While it was tight in here, it was still decently maneuverable and Kalmia likely knew where everything she wanted was. Also in here, were numerous Pokémon. They are, perhaps not entirely limited to,
From Claire (Rune_Alchemist) a Beedrill and a Ledyba. From Erika (Pirouette) a Poliwag and a Pikachu. From Erza (Ephemeral) a Meowth, a Lillipup, a Growlithe, a Castform and a Duskull. From Amelia (Joshua Tamashii) a Yamask, Golett and a Spiritomb. From Skylar (Gardevoiran) a Goomy.
As well as a Slowpoke, resting on the servers over there. Besides that, there were also five other humans in here! This is not counting Kalmia herself, or the guy who just flew out the door! Yupp, decently crowded.
‘Basil, Chloe! This is Ryu. He’s a new trainer, like you. Ryu, this is Basil and Chloe, say hi. The guy who flew out the door past you was Cyril, who also got a Pokédex from me here,’ Kalmia said, as she gestured towards Basil and Chloe.
Chloe, who’d been considering what Cyril told her, brightened up as Ryu got introduced.
‘Oh, hello! I’m Chloe! I’m happy to meet you! Let’s have excellent adventures!’ Chloe wished him, totally happy.
‘And these are my assistants, Tim and Tom…’ Kalmia gestured towards a couple of basically identical young twins…
‘Him, too!? You’re giving Pokémon to so many!’ Tim(?) objected. ‘Give us some, too! We’ll play a trick on you if you don’t!’ Tom(?) warned.
‘Maybe when you’re older! For now, I need assistants to help take care of all the Pokémon!’ Kalmia smiled at them. And then, finally… ‘… And this is…’ Kalmia gestured towards the last one. A bespectacled man in a suit, with a top hat and red ribbons here and there, as well as very amused smirk, tipped his hat towards Ryu.
‘I am Jacques, of the Isson Elite Four. How do you do?’ he began. ‘I’ve also been distributing Pokédexes to young hopefuls, courtesy of Professor Sycamore. Chloe is one of mine, as is Rodger, outside. Me and Kalmia is having a bit of a friendly rivalry about our trainers…’
‘Still, another one?’ Jacques asked, looking actually honestly perturbed for once. ‘You’re killing me, Kalmia, I’m running seriously short on available hopefuls,’ he lamented as he once again had a phone in his hand and checked through his numbers.
‘You don’t need to prepare a rival battle for EVERY trainer I get~’ Kalmia grinned as if she’d won something. Regardless. ‘Alright, let’s get you set up,’ Kalmia said, as she went over to her computer and pulled out a shelf next to it. From it, she retrieved two items. She walked back to Ryu, and presented one of them to him.
‘Here you go. This is your Pokédex.’
‘Now, let me explain a few things.’
‘First and foremost, your Trainer Card. It is your ID as a Pokémon Trainer, showing your name, index number as a Pokémon Trainer, a picture of you, the date you got your card, today, and it also shows how many badges you currently have. At the moment, that's zero. If you ever enter the Pokémon League, the Battle Dome or any Pokémon Contests, it will also show your results there.’ Kalmia said. ‘I took the liberty of inserting your new Trainer Card into your Pokédex, for the Pokédex won't function without it, but you can take it out when you need to show it or add a badge to it. It's in the back of the Pokédex.’ (You know how the Pokédex looks like a Game Boy Advance? It's in the place where you'd insert a game cartridge. You may pick what colour yours is~)
‘Your Pokédex has multiple functions. The main function is to give you information on every Pokémon you encounter and register the Pokémon you have caught. Scan a Pokémon by simply holding the Pokédex towards the Pokémon in question and press the scan-button. You'll be told information about said Pokémon, and by capturing the Pokémon you can also see its expected sizes, what moves it knows, what level it is, what types it is, where it is expected to live, all sorts of stuff. Note, Pokéballs needs to be registered to a person in order for them to function, and the Pokédex does that for you when your Trainer's Card is inserted. It's already linked to the PC as well, so any Pokémon beyond the six you're already carrying will be transported to the PC, and you can retrieve them at any Pokémon Center PC.’ It is common knowledge that you can only have six Pokémon at you at any time.
‘If you check the Pokédex, you can play the cries of a specific Pokémon you've previously caught. Use that as you wish. You can also use the Pokédex to find out where you might be able to find a specific Pokémon that you've scanned and want to catch... Or, well, you WOULD be able to do that, but the Pokédex has never existed in Isson and as such that data is not recorded. However, you can input it! So, if someone ELSE of you guys has inserted the data of where one might be able to find a specific Pokémon, then it will display on your map similarly! You can also supply each other with information about your previously caught Pokémon if you wish! Do help each other out~!’ So no need for ALL of you to complete the Pokédex if you don't wish to, you can do it as a team.
‘In addition. Since we are doing this on mission of the Pokémon Research Association, we're actually getting paid. For each Pokémon you catch, the data of where the Pokémon was encountered and such will be recorded, and a number of Pokédollars will be transferred to your accounts. Also, assuming you register a Pokémon trainer battle, you automatically get the winnings transferred to you should you win the battle. Really easy, and you don't lose anything by losing, so you don't have to worry about running out of money out there!’ The Pokémon Association has to do SOMETHING so that Pokémon Trainers don't go broke out there. (… And please ignore the financial contradiction caused by not losing anything by being defeated. I feel you shouldn't have to fear getting into Pokémon battles for monetary reasons!)
‘It's also a communicator that can be contacted by both phone and Pokégears as well as other Pokédexes. I took the liberty of inputting the contact information of all the other Pokédexes I've handed out and to my own central Pokédex, but you can register any other people just as you wish. Give me a call anytime you're in trouble and need some advice! I'm not a Pokémon Professor for nothing!’ Kalmia smirked happily, looking out over the new trainers.
‘Any questions?’
‘And then… finally, your Pokémon,’ Kalmia said, giving a little smile to Ryu. ‘We have… something special prepared for you. I’m sure you’ll like it~!’ Kalmia told, looking proud as she offered the Pokéball to him. And, as soon as he opened it…
- You've obtained Fennekin! -
Pokédex Entry #653 – Fennekin, the Fox Pokémon. It typically likes snacking on twigs, as the energy from them fuels its fire-type moves. To intimidate opponents it uses its roomy ears to vent air hotter than 390 degrees Fahrenheit. It can be temperamental, but typically does its best for its trainer if caught.
- Would you like to give Fennekin a nickname? -
With that Ryu was free to interact with his Pokémon and potentially anyone else in the room.
‘Hm?’ Rodger paused, someone shouting so loudly would definitely be noticed, after all, the boy looking over at Cyril as he came prancing. ‘I’m Rodger, yeah,’ Rodger told, looking curiously at Cyril. After the question… Rodger chuckled a bit.
‘Asking to have me join your trip, huh? Now, I like your style for asking, but I already have a companion. I’m travelling with a smart dude called Oaken. Completely stone-faced, but very good at what he does. We split up in Stillwood Village because he beat the Gym and I couldn’t, but we’re to meet again in Lakewatch Town. I’m not going to bike through Wet Caverns, so I have take the long way around. I prefer to journey on my own terms, anyway, and journeying with Oaken is the same as on my terms because he’s completely ignoring me and as such it’s my decision to tag along, to keep up with him. Just going to smash that grass-Gym with my new Flying-type, first, gotta train Ace to a better level. Still, I’ll see you around. I look forward to fighting you one day,’ Rodger said with a slightly battle-hungry smirk.
Anyways, that’s that for now. Now what?

“Delivery Service”, indeed! Bet that’s a piece of cake with someone like THAT under her employ! “Stacy”, hah! What a generic-sounding name!
Ronin kept still, smiling widely and forcefully as the box was accepted and this new yet familiar girl showed up. Ronin also grinned widely when it was arranged to be for free.
‘Thank you, ma’am! Just what we wanted!’ Ronin said, and followed after “Stacy”, somewhat nervous in her steps, but also smiling widely. Because, facing adversary with a big smile got to make it better!
Yeah, she did not miss how “Penrose” was emphasized. Yeah, no, what was a suspicion of a passing resemblance stopped being a passing resemblance and turned into absolute surety. There was no mistaking it. Good lord, what had happened back then?
And Jill’s coming too? HOW LOVELY!!
‘Why, I’m honoured! Thank you for tagging along!’ Ronin called to Jill happily, because, well, what else could she do? She felt like she’d have a nervous breakdown if she kept quiet, she had to distract herself by saying something!
Holding hands it was! Ronin took Stacy’s hand… woah, this felt unreal… and then Amanda’s in her right to complete the circle, assuming Amanda came along. Then, finally, after a teleportation of some strange kind, they found themselves on top of Penrose train station. Ronin breathed out a sigh of relief. How nice to be back… but woah, this place looked bad… and even Jill looked surprised! Ronin looked at her in surprise. She’d totally have thought Jill was the one behind it, but apparently not?
Camera? Ronin looked a bit surprised, looking over in the direction, but… it occurred to her that… eh. Someone was looking at her. With a little bit too much focus. Jill was looking at her. “No longer under her employ”? Haha, whatever do you mean, I have no idea what you’re talking about were words that Ronin wasn’t able to spit out, because they’d been blatantly untrue and an obvious lie of equal measure…
And then the one who she’d be tracking was name-dropped.
‘Ah… ahahahaha! Well, I…’ Ronin scratched the back of her head a bit, still grinning. Now, it was true that Ronin wanted to get a bunch of help with this task… but, um, seeking help from the one who’s little sister killed her wasn’t entirely part of the plan…!
‘… Sure! I’m going to need all the help I can get! …’ Ronin smirked at her, meeting Jill’s eyes, and suddenly felt a bit of confidence. She no longer had to hide who she was from Jill, so, a bit of the fear of being noticed promptly vanished. Instead, there was a feeling of wait, this might actually be really good. Ronin met Jill’s eyes, and suddenly gave a bold little grin. ‘… I’m here to save my other one. So don’t you touch her, and we’ll be good. Alright. Here’s to a good partnership!’ Ronin happily called, reaching forward a hand to Jill to shake…
So, after a bit of time, a familiar individual walks towards Descent Tower, stops, and just looks over the gathered Pokémon.
The swimmer crossed her arms, raising an eyebrow and looked questioningly at the four Pokémon. Then, she raised a hand and pointed at Peri.
‘That… is that girl’s newborn Onix, right? … What’s she up to, leaving her Pokémon here instead of bringing them in Pokéballs…?’ Lin asked, staring at the gathered four Pokémon. Now, of course, Erebi could recognize her, but Lin couldn’t recognize him, because she didn’t know his current form.
Oh, and eventually, probably, can yet decide not to come, there’s going to come a blind guy and with a bespectacled girl following from over there. Speaking of, Dei would recognize them, wouldn’t he?
How will the crew react? Maybe wait for Skylar’s post first. Maybe.
Vivia will currently be tagging along, because, Skylar had suggested an adventure and she was not about to miss out.
The girl gave Skylar an odd look and a slightly raised eyebrow as he looked that closely onto the list of services, and then finally looked down on the money offered. She sighed a bit, sinking back into her chair and looking disappointed, as she pressed a couple buttons on her phone and then brought it to her ear.
‘Elana here. There’s some kids here that want to go down Descent Tower, and they can pay for a guide,’ she said, listening to whoever was on the other side. ‘I’d honestly have loved to, but underwater is not my expertise…’ she replied to whoever was on the other side. Another pause, and Elana gave a smirk as she looked over Skylar before looking away again. ‘Nah, given the kids this time, I think it won’t entirely matter how you’re dressed…’ A pause later. ‘Thanks, Lin. You’re a lifesaver. I’ll see you paid later. Bye,’ she said, and closed the call, before leaning forward and collecting the money.
‘Lin will meet you in front of Descent Tower. That should work with you, right?’ she asked, before sighing a bit. ‘Come again if you ever want to explore some mountains… we might have increased our prices then, though…’ Elana commented, but otherwise shrugged, go on, out of here.
Eventually arriving to Descent Tower eventually?
Now, Skylar can totally ignore the appointment, but in case he doesn’t.
Visually, it was but a tall building like any other in Lakewatch Town, the top looking like a huge water tower and the inside revealing a building flooded with water. Stairs led up, but also down, into the water and further down where no person unable to live underwater could explore. Except, well, before Skylar came that far, there was a woman perpetually in a swimsuit standing outside, her hands on her hips as she was staring at a group of four unattended Pokémon. Two being rather small, a Charmander and a Mawile, then a somewhat taller Nuzleaf, and finally a frickin’ giant rock-snake that was just hanging about next to the tower.
This girl, staring at these Pokémon.
Pokédex Entry #4 – Charmander, the Lizard Pokémon. A fire burns at the end of its tail from its birth, and the strength of the fire indicates its health and current emotional state. This fire cannot be put out, as it burns by fuel from within. It prefers living in very warm conditions. Caution is advised near newly born Charmanders, as they’re not careful with their fire yet.
Pokédex Entry #303 – Mawile, the Deceiver Pokémon. Attached to its head is a huge set of jaws formed by horns powerful enough to chew through steel. It’s a dangerous Pokémon which fools those who look at it with a docile and fail appearance, before spinning around and chomping those who’d dare approach it.
Pokédex Entry #274 – Nuzleaf, the Wily Pokémon. It lives in densely overgrown forests, where it bores holes in large trees to live in. It pulls a lead from its head and makes a flute with. The flute, sometimes heard by forest-land travelers, have special powers that strike fear and uncertainty into people’s hearts. It dislikes having its long nose pinched.
Pokédex Entry #95 – Onix, the Rock Snake Pokémon. It lives deep underground, and it burrows through earth at a staggering 80 km/h in search of food, and it grows harder as it collects material while digging. A magnet in its brain keeps track of which direction it is travelling. The tunnels it creates behind it as it burrows are often used as homes for other Pokémon.
… Now, hadn’t Skylar se-/ been around this Charmander once before, perhaps?
What will Skylar do here?
Lakewatch Town
As one looks upon Lakewatch, it is clear it was once built by the side of the water. Yet, over time, Dragon Lake has actually increased in volume, the water-level rising and swallowing the town. Then the natural conclusion would be to move the town back, follow the water-level, and rebuild at the new shore, right? That, does not appear to have been the thought that went through the minds of the designers of this Town, which is essentially placed out in the water on top of older buildings, the streets of the town flooded in water and to get around one has to make use of their many canoes or get on the back of a Pokémon.
The town of Lakewatch rises fairly high for its size, and vegetation grows pretty freely around the buildings. Most buildings and streets have white floating cobblestone to walk on either side of the streets, with a river of water flowing in the middle. People here are highly accustomed to this, and the streets are constantly bustling with people heading back and forth, as well as people actually gliding down from the higher buildings from the roofs above using strange little paragliders. It appears people live in the higher floors, while business takes place on ground/water-level. There are canoes basically everywhere that anyone’s free to borrow, townspeople commonly jumping down on a canoe, using the force of the jump to drift it to the other side and then simply jump off.
Now, anyone could hear from the name that Lakewatch Town is the town that basically rules the Dragon Lake. The Lakewatchers are a group of people that regularly patrol the waters, and become friends with the dragons that live there. Tours by the Lakewatchers are the primary tourist attraction of the place, along with the fish that is procured from the same lake, and guides are trained to show the way in any surrounding areas. Their boats are also those who trade with the western side through Highhill, keeping the place alive and busy. Plus, there’s always the rumors of treasure or otherwise hiding deep in Flooded Lakewatch, and Descent Tower looms in the middle of town for those hoping to explore… but who really knows? It’s a nice and different place, definitely.
So, what will they do here?
1. Find Pokémon. There’s plenty of water here. Could be any number of Water Pokémon in the different rivers through town. 2. Talk. In cities, there are considerably more people one can talk to. Talking can give you info on local rumors and such. 3. 6.3. Pokémon Gym. ??? 6.4. Lakewatcher Base. From where Lakewatchers embark to patrol Dragon Lake. 6.5. Lakewatch Docks. For getting tours of Dragon Lake, just taking a ferry or fishing! 6.6. Explorer’s Guide Service. With all these strange places around, Lakewatch offers guides to the surrounding areas! 6.7. Descent Tower. A tower in the middle of town, with stairs down to Flooded Lakewatch. Come prepared for the underwater. 6.8. Back Alleys. … What? Lakewatch has a darker section? What are you talking about?
Connected areas: Wet Caverns. Water-filled caverns that are located to the east. There’s a small hill to climb to get to the entrance. Route 5. The main exit of Lakewatch, leading to a grassy incline connecting mountains, forests and plains. Route 14. The waters of Dragon Lake are also known as Route 14. It connects Lakewatch Town, Highhill Town and Stillwood Village.
‘Huh? What? Aren’t those pretty regular-’ Chloe started, looking in surprise at Cyril, then she got it, and made a sound of bottled up amusement and just did a smiling shrug. ‘Eh, I was curious!’
Basil gave his reply, and Chloe just smiled happily and nodded. ‘Just going off and see what you find, eh? I like it! Who knows what we’ll actually encounter out there, after all!’ she nodded. Basil mentioned that about busking… ‘Aaah, don’t know if that’s something I could do, I don’t know if I actually have anything to show off. That said, I don’t need to! I’ll be paid catching Pokémon! I have, in fact, been imagining by future team! For example, I would like to have a Growlithe! A cute and loyal little fire-dog by my side, and Arcanine looks so majestic and soft, too, and…’
‘There are Growlithes on Route 1,’ Jacques shared, smirking a bit by the side.
‘Eh? Seriously?’ Chloe looked totally stunned. ‘What am I still doing here!?’
She asked very seriously, looking excitedly like she was about to leave.
Speaking of leaving, Basil mentioned that Rodger was just about leaving, and that was punctuated perfectly by the sounds of the engine on Rodger’s bike roaring alive. He hasn’t left yet, but he just started the engine, so if Cyril doesn’t want him to leave yet he’s going to have to get out there ASAP!
Kalmia’s looking on the scene with interested amusement. Jacques is doing the same, but with his little trademark smirk.
What now?
Currently in Pureplain City.

Dunstan turned his head and gave Dawkin a long, drawn-out, analyzing somewhat bored-looking gaze in response to his question, before finally giving his answer.
‘I’m going to give you the weirdest-sounding bit of advice you’ve ever heard,’ Dunstan started it off with. ‘Feebas likes being dolled up. Make it feel beautiful. Brush it up, accessorize it, and then take it to the saloon in Justroad City a couple times. Three should do,’ Dunstan said, sounding like it was actually like working towards something, and then simply shrugged and turned back to his computer.
That aside. Now what? Dunstan is available for any more questions or revelations and stuff.
Raremine Town
no cat-eared girls here, sorry
Raremine Town is a moderately large, bright town on the edge of the only desert in Isson. By some twist, the largest mineral deposits in the land is located right under the desert, making it an attractive place to build mines. From that, Raremine Town naturally sprung into being as a merchant town on the edge of habitability from where the mineral could then be delivered to the rest of Isson. The temperature is hot, sun blazing down on this land where plains slowly become desert, the atmosphere dry and unfriendly… yet, life and trees blossoms among the buildings of Raremine Town.
The ground is still the grass from the Vast Plains, with buildings on top of them. The modern houses stand tall with plenty of architectural skill put into them, tools for building and living sold inside the houses. Everywhere, one can see workers walking about, but they’re happy workers, with their families living close at hand in the town and with the finest equipment available. Oh, and of course, plenty of Pokémon that assist with the finding of ores and such! The trees, which appear to have been planted and grown all over town by the residents themselves, gives plenty of homes for local Pokémon to live.

They can give tips about the desert! 6.5. Research Lab. For archaeologists, those who want to talk to Dunstan and those who want to resurrect fossils. 6.6. Stone Store. Where all the stones of the Desert Mines or Frozen Cave eventually end up! Lots of evolutionary and other kinds of stones! 6.7. Bug Garden. A garden within which bugs thrive. Vivillons can be hired here for tracking down the Mythic Oasis! 6.8. Warehouses. Because the things they mine here needs somewhere to be stored. This includes Ancient Pokémon, apparently, as some of the warehouses are pens. 7. Familiar Faces; Claire and Dawkin. Alec, Dunstan, Florrie. You’re in the same town. 8. Commotion. There seems to be a search going on. Want to partake for some reason?
Connected areas: Route 6. The Vast Plains open up to the north of Raremine. The shorter paths lead to Route 8 and 16, while west far enough leads to Lakewatch Town. Route 7. The single rocky desert of Isson, it connects to the Desert Mines, the Old Tombs and to the Mythic Oasis.
‘Pahahaha! Sure! Come along! We're building an adventuring party just walking along! We've got a swordsman, a knight and a magician already! I like it!’ Ronin laughed and happily accepted Amanda's request to join. So, absolutely!
The place was super colourful and decently awesome. Also, actual speed-pads!? ‘I swear, this place is like directly out of a game! I've got to invite-’ "Eli here one day", Deni was about to say, then realized she shouldn't mention Eli's name yet. Whelp. ‘... Well, rescue mission first! And even before that, delivery mission!’ Ronin said, as they eventually reached the Magical Services district. This, too, looked like one awesome place to remember existed. Got to get here with money one day.
Oh, yeah. Asengav never spared Mariette or Deni/Eli with even a bronze, but now that she had no backer at all... Well, guess she could take mercenary missions!
‘And here we are! Jill's Instant Deliveries!’ Ronin read out loud with a great smile as she spun towards the place, because she's that type of person. Yupp, this looked like a cool enough place. She sure knew where she'd like to "instantly delivered", hahaha. Wonder if she'd be able to get back after? Hm. Eh, she could make friends with someone with Overcity Shift. It's not that rare!
So, heh, whoever owned this place was sure a fan of the cute yet elegant. In any case, here she is-
……………
Deni stood like frozen a couple seconds, big grin plastered on her face because honestly what other expression could she possibly make at a time like this, her mind going in a thousand different directions. Like, what? Huh? How? What? Coincidence? What happened? How many died? And most importantly… WHAT!!??
‘W-we… We have a delivery for a Jill’s Delivery Service! I take it that’s you!?’ Ronin asked, a little too loudly, her mind a mixture of utterly amazed and more than a little terrified, wearing her automatic grin. ‘It came from a girl in a shawl speaking some foreign accent! We happen to be looking for a way to Penrose, and when I told this girl she handed me this thing with directions to you!’
… Better, uh, pretend… like nothing. After all… Ronin was a stranger, even if this girl was who she resembled, and this did appear to be a legitimate business. Just passing through. Can’t hurt. She can’t have been resurrected to just go and die this quickly. One does not simply walk in on the final boss right after forming the party. This is probably just a case of mistaken identity, Deni’s memory was probably foggy during all that time being, ya know, dead. Regardless, she couldn’t do anything here, mid-Overcity. Right?
&
‘…’
Right, then. A battlefield of some kind did appear to be in the making.
Question was, what role would Mariette play on it?
@BlackMaiden A well of knowledge, huh. I wonder if that means I should be supplying him with a well of knowledge whenever he goes somewhere, heh. XD
Isson sure is a popular travel destination for Kalos trainers, huh.
Aw, that is cute. That ending of the background probably had Kalmia crying out of how sweet it was and ended up agreeing to it on a sheer emotional basis, no tests needed. Hahahaha. Very well, yeah. I see nothing here that is in any way problematic or anything. Ryu is accepted.
Geesh, we have THREE characters originally from Lumiose City... XD
Alright, you're taking me a little bit unawares on account of how long you took before the character sheet came, but anyways. You're the last one of those I accepted could join the roleplay, so with that, we're utterly full and you may write a post about arriving to Kalmia's lab in Pureplain City. Do address me if you want any guidance about how to get there, or something, I do think the first post should still give enough of a basis for the first post, except the fact you may simply knock on Kalmia's front door and such.
So, there is a dude walking up to his motor-bike on the outside of Kalmia's lab and I didn't intend him to leave juuuuuuust yet, gonna give Cyril enough time to possibly stop him from leaving come the next post, and there's signs someone has used Rollout all over the front yard of the lab and then patched it up with a couple of shovels, and there's a random puddle of water and a bucket lying nearby... for various reasons. Anyway.
Wilhelm did appear to enjoy having someone around that actually enjoyed his little jokes. In any case, they searched on, and Froakie kept looking at them a bit curiously as Eryn waved to it before continuing on. Braith’s possible line of thinking about being called old aside, Quagsire gave a light reply about the “remember where they parked” but.
‘Quagsire!’ it sounded like. Whatever that meant. So, after having maneuvered the underwater architecture and finally arriving in a new, alien area…
Claydol floated away, steadily as if knowing where it was going. There was sounds of water running here and there, and from sheer logic they were clearly not on surface level yet. Wherever this was, it was still very much underwater.
‘I did, indeed! But, the rocks supposedly found under Lakewatch Town were never described as anything as complex as THIS! … Huh?’ Wilhelm then looked surprised when Eryn told that this was a trial, to do without help. With that, Eryn prepared herself to get going after that conversation with Tula, and Wilhelm was told to probably stay here.
‘Very well! I’ll just, study and look over everything I can… in this immediate area! Would you join me, Quagsire?’ Wilhelm asked the blue Pokémon.
‘Quaaaaaag!’ Quagsire replied, and then Eryn was off to wherever she felt that she needed to go…
The feelings of “where to go” had gone away. They’d guided her here, but from here on out, she was on her own.
As such, she followed the path which Claydol had gone. This led her up a decently empty corridor, where she constantly had to watch where she placed her feet lest she’d stumble over some ancient cable or chute, which seemed to be spread across the structure, some water trickling through basically any and all corridors.
Finally, some corridor later, she arrived to a more open room. There were pillars and architecture spread around in ruins, unfathomable in their original purpose, but it meant there’s things to hide behind. Meanwhile, there was Claydol, floating in to the middle of the room…
Claydol blasted a sudden magnetan blast of energy from one arm that loudly impacted one of the weird pillars, the sound of the violent impact echoing through the area. Psybeam fired relentlessly and mercilessly at the pillar… and from it fell a poor little Scatterbug that had been in the wrong place at the wrong time. Apparently, there was the occasional Scatterbug down here… as soon as they weren’t being found by Claydols, anyway.
There was an odd sensation in the air. A desire that she leave, a powerful sensation that something did not want her there. It was not the same sort of feeling that had been directing her here. That will still presented the desire that she find the exit without help. The one that wanted her out of here, was separate, threatening, alien, in sharp contrast to the first, and only just now awoke. And as it did… Claydol turned around, looking for something to shoot, both arms raised. It hadn’t seen Eryn yet, assuming she hid somewhere when she had the chance, but there was the problem of Claydol having eyes in all directions.
There’s only one other exit from this room.
What will Eryn do here?
Blue dot - Entrance. Pink dot - Eryn, if she didn’t enter the room. If she did, she’s in the room above, hopefully hiding behind a pillar not on the map if she knows what’s good for her. Red dot - Claydol.
‘Quite a while, yes. I knew him even before his more difficult years, albeit I wasn’t close to him until after he’d already cleared his name. Say 20 or so years, I was already a veteran and he had a rapid ascent to stardom…’ Dorian reminanced a bit about the Elite Four member.
The older trainer then watched as Amelia considered what she’d been told and released her Pokémon from their Pokéballs, patting the large, excited dog next to him all the while. When she spoke, he got a satisfied little smile, and nodded his head in turn to her.
‘You’re very welcome, young Amelia. Do feel free to return again whenever you feel the need for the words of an elder. Now, then, if that was all, I believe Stoutland here would like his walk.’
‘Stoutland!’
So Dorian said as he stood up once again, despite already having been out with Snorlax, in order to go take a walk with Stoutland. Care for Pokémon does take a decent amount of time.
In any case. If Amelia had anything further to say to him, she could. Otherwise, here’s Pureplain City.

So, some hard work putting the front yard back into order along with a dutifully working Rodger, who despite his looks appeared not to consider putting the yard back in order to be particularly much of a chore, Basil once again came to talk to Kalmia.
In response to apologizing for the yard Kalmia just raised a hand and waved a bit, shaking her head a little with a smile. That aside, Basil asked to be introduced to Cyril and his friend.
‘Oh, yes! Sure, come on in!’ Kalmia waved for Basil to follow as they approached the two that were practicing trading by Kalmia’s computer and station.
‘Basil, this is Cyril, who came here from Kalos. Cyril, this is Basil, from Worldedge City, also a trainer who has received a Pokédex from me. Be nice to each other!’
‘And this is Chloe, whom I gave a Pokédex,’ Jacques introduced, because he’s still here, smirking by the side.
‘Yupp, hello! Nice to meet you! Hey, do you have your eyes on any particular Pokémon? Have you imagined your future team?’ Chloe spun and asked Basil, a bit of a gleam in her eyes as she completely bypassed how Basil was looking to just be excited. ‘Cyril was doing a plan to get us rich quick! Didn’t work yet, though,’ Chloe told, as well.
Anyways. Now what?

‘Hm, okay,’ Vivia said with a frown about not knowing what the countermeasure is against. She looked a bit disappointed in that it was just a cave, but after that she was decently amazed by that Mesprit had apparently been communicated by magical writing on fingers, among other things. Woah. ‘That’s a real Psychic-type, huh…’
And, in Lakewatch Town, Skylar probably would need to have his Pokémon or Vivia guide him a lot, because basically all streets had a direction one could walk in to just fall off and down into water. If this place was in a real Pokémon Game, there’d be a mechanic where you jump into canoes or onto Quagsires to be ferried to different streets of the town that were completely separated by water. But, Vivia followed along with Skylar for now and… Nah, no birds. Just a lot of Woopers and Quagsires for now.
Eventually, they found their way to the place they were looking for.
The Explorer’s Guide Service building itself was but a small dent into a building, a door and windows full of advertisement for the service. Inside was a cozy little store-like room where lots of fliers advertised the accomplishments of several presumably employed individuals while good reviews of their services hung around like newspaper articles, the walls covered by papers, maps of Isson and the likes. By the door stood a sign with some info for a visitor.
“Lakewatch residents live somewhat out of the way, meaning we need to travel to find our callings! On our travels, we have learned a lot! Here we offer our experience for you to use!”
There’s also a map of Lakewatch under the message with a “Our guides live HERE!” showing small arrows pointing at various spots throughout Lakewatch Town. It was vague enough that’d it be somewhat hard to find the person based on it, but with the number of arrows and how spread it was it delivered the message that this was an honest occupation in this town.
And, in the back on a chair behind a desk covered in paperwork and a strange small stone-statue of a Trapinch sat a girl staring at her mobile phone. Except, the moment Skylar came in, she quickly looked up, gained a mildly interested look and leant forward. The girl’s wearing a jacket, a hat with some adventurous-looking goggles on and a large backpack lies packed on the right of her chair. She looks like she’s basically already on a journey.
That is totally a lollipop.
‘What’s up? Heading somewhere?’ the girl asked in a casual yet sharp tone, with hints of interest as she looked over Skylar.
Now, a list of the place’s services are listed to the girl’s immediate right.

And in case they left to do anything else…

Plus, there’s always the rumors of treasure or otherwise hiding deep in Flooded Lakewatch, and Descent Tower looms in the middle of town for those hoping to explore… but who really knows? ‘… Then why did he send you to me?’ Dunstan asked, sounding positively lamenting about it. Still, the next question… ‘The World Library in Worldedge City has my personal backing. Rainrock Library is a decent collection of information, as well, with a lot more local information. As for reading… “Collected Legends of Sinnoh” covers the creation myth pretty well. They got some connection to it over there. There was also an event there some time ago in Sinnoh, detailed in Rowan’s “The Team Galactic Incident, Detailed Report”... and a more biased version from a Team Galactic member in “Galactic Conquest”, that gives a very different individual’s viewpoint if you can stomach the cringe.’
And, well, that's basically it for answers to those particular questions.
1. Find Pokémon. Can still search for Pokémon in cities~ 2. Talk. In cities, there are considerably more people one can talk to. Talking can give you info on local rumors and such. 3. Exit.
‘And don’t come back!’ Ronin called after them, laughing out loud as the two thieves took off running. Honestly, they seemed like fun! Ronin would have liked to talk to them some more, hear about their antics and adventures, maybe join in on some! They’d surely get along excellently at any time when they weren’t trying to steal from her! … Wait, hadn’t she called out the wrong sentence if she actually DID want them to come back and talk to her in the future? … Eh!
Now, why would snitches get stitches when the snitch was the victim of the attempted theft? What reason did Ronin have to protect the two that just tried to steal from her? Well, absolutely none! Which is why…
‘They went that way and left at the corner! Hurry!’ Ronin called, pointing in the same direction Amanda did to be consistent but also decidedly leading the guards in the opposite direction at the corner where the thieves actually went right. For no other reason than because Ronin felt like it. Feeling proud of herself, she now turned to Amanda, who handed the box back and introduced herself.
‘Thank you very much, Amanda! Good samaritan, you. Many brownie points. Good karma. I’m Ronin, and this is Valkyrie. Now, I’ve got to deliver this box before I get robbed again! It just might be the key to my return to Penrose, after all!’ Ronin told happily, before spinning on the spot intending to continue along the path that had been pointed out to her by the strange shopkeeper!

Amaryllis made this little flower appear behind Bunny’s ear, which Mariette stopped to inspect. The colour wasn’t entirely to her taste, she liked the calm feeling of blue more than she did red. But, it was a fantastical gift which could only be made by Amaryllis, meant only for her. Mariette might put it in a glass and keep it displayed in her room to look at every now and then…
‘Thank you. Until next time, then,’ Mariette said, and intended to leave… when both Hilaria and Sophia asked one way or another if she didn’t want to stay, the later talking about a feast for them. Eli paused behind her, the darkness harpy reminding Mariette with her eyes about what they had come for. She considered it for a couple of seconds…
‘I’m afraid I’m going to have to decline that meal. You don’t want me around when the Ascendancy arrives,’ Mariette told, for the sound of people approaching meant she had to get going as quickly as possible. With that, Mariette exited through her portal, Eli skipping inside and turning around to wave her little black slime-wings at them in farewell.
‘We’ll see you later!’ Eli happily called as she waved to them, and then the portal closed and there was no trace of them left…
… Okay, with that done, and currently present in an apartment across town, Mariette picked up her phone and pressed a specific set of buttons before guiding it to her ear.
Ace dove down, talons first, because talons for Fury Attack and beak for Peck makes sense, and started scratching at Cecil intensely! Cecil was not able to catch the first couple talons that came scratching at her in fury, making her take some damage, those are some seriously tiny arms on Darumakas… but then she got one!
‘Rufflet!’ Ace complained, and immediately scratched at her with his remaining talon (still Fury Attack). However, he also waved his wings to pull himself off her… and with that he managed to pull herself out of the hole! And then… time to roll.
‘Lift her! She can’t roll in the air!’ Rodger commanded. Now, Ace weights around a fourth of Cecil’s weight, and with that it became really, REALLY hard for Ace to try to lift her off the ground, but those fluttering wings sure tried to. So, once again with feet on the ground, Cecil took more Fury Attack swipes, but she’d recovered enough that she could start preparing for Rollout, and-!
And que a very panicked screaming Rufflet being carried along a rolling Darumaka and getting run over multiple times by the red boulder-like being rolling across Kalmia’s lawn.
And that… that did it. With the equivalent of being hit by multiple Rollouts a second, half a lap around the yard later and Ace was left more-or-less flattened on the ground while Cecil could stand up, more or less fine, but having taken heavy damage mainly from flailing Fury Attacks from a rather desperate bird.
‘Ruuuuuuuuuuuuuff…’ complained the downed bird.
Basil was victorious! Basil earned 1000P for winning!
Cecil grew to Level 6! Cecil learned Incinerate!
‘Ouch. Better luck next time, Ace,’ Rodger said with a twist of feeling his Pokémon’s pain in his expression as he held a Pokéball forward and called Ace back. He then looked to Basil with a bit of a smirk.
‘You were just lucky to have started with a super-effective move… but you got guts, Basil. I like that. I look forward to the day I can truly go all out against you. Then we’ll see who ends up on top!’ Rodger said, breaking out a bit of a grin at the end there. One way or another, Basil had at the very least earned himself a rematch one day.
‘Well, well, well. Haven’t you two been busy?’ Kalmia said with the biggest of smiles possible as she looked over the yard that Cecil had successfully torn apart rolling through. ‘I do hope the two of you are ready to help get this place back in order, right?’ she added, and just in time as if having completely predicted this Tim and Tom showed up grinning with one shovel each to offer to each of the combatants…
Rodger’s going to chuckle a bit before taking the shovel and just getting this out of the way. Now, with that out of the way.
‘Seems like I lost. I’ll go get strong so that I can start winning already,’ Rodger told Jacques. ‘I’ll make you proud of me yet.’
‘I’ll look forward to it. Good luck, Rodger,’ Jacques simply said, and that should about do it. Rodger was intending on going off to his bike and ride off into the eventual sunset…
‘In any case. Congratulations on winning your first battle! Now, let me just heal Cecil up…’ Kalmia said, and took out a Super Potion, because that should about do. ‘And then prepare you with the first little set of Pokéballs that I can supply you with…’
Basil obtained 5 Pokéballs!
‘And that should do! You’re now ready to embark on your journey! Do remember you can call me anytime through the Pokédex. Mine, as well as the numbers of all the trainers with the Pokédexes I’ve distributed, are already saved onto your Pokédex! Oh, and theirs will update with yours, so don’t worry, they can reach you, too,’ Kalmia told happily.
‘So! Any more questions?’ Kalmia asked, and that was about that. Basil can depart now if he wants to.
Currently in Pureplain City.
Be it for manual labour or just for company, Pureplain houses often contain at least one house-hold Pokémon and there are many Trainer's Schools around the city have always been plentifully attended, not counting the recent drop of embarking trainers due to the Team Wars.

‘Did he, now? How dismissive of him. He should know enough about Uxie to satisfy you without bothering me. Perhaps I should dock his pay…’ Dunstan commented as he spun his chair to start typing away at the computer for a bit. And… on his computer he clicked up some huge files on the guardian trio. Drawings of all three were readily available…
‘The Lake Guardians, three legendary beings that were born from the same egg and gifted humanity with knowledge, emotion and willpower. There are some sightings of Mesprit a bit of everywhere as it’s the only one that seems to enjoy showing itself occasionally, there’s the very rare sighting of Azelf predominantly around Lakewatch Town, and there is absolutely no sightings of Uxie reported because Uxie makes them forget they saw it. Overall, the three are harmless. Assuming you don’t attack them, they’re a peaceful bunch that just stay within their roles as guardians. They have very dangerous methods of neutralizing attackers, but it will only ever be targeted on such attackers, leaving them without memory, emotions or willpower, respectively,’ Dunstan told, sounding almost bored as he did.
‘They are called the Lake Guardians because they were originally said to have been guarding the Dragon Lake, which, yeah, all the sightings of both Mesprit and Azelf are centered on the lake itself. As far as we can tell, the ancient people that once lived around Dragon Lake basically worshipped them, and built architecture in their honour. Unfortunately, due to certain rules we’re not allowed to do further research on them. There’s this whole mythology about how they’re the ones keeping the creation trio in check, but that hardly concerns you. Does it?’ Dunstan asked, typing down something about a sighting of Uxie in his own notes on Uxie…
Since Dawkin is quiet for now, guess that’ll do for a reply.
If they escape for any reason.

‘I’d certainly look forward to that! Good luck!’ Kalmia told Cyril happily, and then… there was this odd sound from the front of the building, through the still open door… Of rolling, and dirt being showered everywhere, and… ‘Now, let me just… go see what they’ve done to my front yard…’ Kalmia said, as she started taking some determined steps towards the door. Jacques chuckled a bit and followed after.
‘Alright! Let’s go!’ Chloe excitedly headed on with Cyril, and they healed up their Pokémon at the station and after that… Cyril shared his plan. Chloe listened curiously, and Chloe’s reaction… was smirking excitedly at him. ‘Sounds interesting. Let’s try it!’ Chloe said, eager to get started and try this out, and so they did.
To speed up the process, the two tested to trade their Pokémon… and they did, but they got no money for it.
‘Aw, really?’ Chloe said, disappointed as nothing had happened. ‘The Pokédex does register that I “own” a Budew, but I didn’t get money…’ But, then Chloe shrugged and just beamed at Cyril again.
‘Oh, well! Guess I’m just going to catch every Pokémon in sight as soon as I get out of here!’
That is most assuredly Chloe’s plan. Assuming she got Sentret back, at the very least.
So, what will Cyril do now? He’s currently in Pureplain City.

‘Ooooh… I am… so envious…’ Vivia made an admiring if somewhat sad noise as she looked at the Mesprit entry, for the simple reason that she’d had to stay behind. In any case!
‘Oh, alright. I’ll take you up on that,’ Vivia said, accepting that Skylar would pay the fare for her, though she did sound a bit surprised that he would. And with that, they were off to board the ferry!
It was a standard little boat, the kind that mostly looked like an on-water buss with an inside with enough room for around eighty or so seated people with the roof and all plus an outdoors area where people could stand around and look out over the water. The underside was notably reinforced. The staff took their payment no questions asked, just another day at work for them, and as soon as they had waited long enough the ferry took off. The payment is for one “trainer”, as in one human and up to six of their Pokémon, because that’s how it works in the Pokémon world… assuming the Pokémon aren’t too big.
Route 14
You find yourself on top of the waters of Isson’s largest lake. While the mountainsides that surround it most assuredly makes it simple to see just how far away the different shores are around the lake, it is most assuredly not possible to see the far side of the shore. On calm days the waters are still, on windy days small waves roll across the surface. Every once in a while a ferry or a ship passes by, fishermen seeking the catch of the day or travellers making their way across from Highill Town, from Stillwood Village and from Lakewatch Town, to any of the three above. Few things actually inspire calm as much as this still lake…
Or at least so it WOULD be, if it weren’t for the chaos just underneath the waters. You’ll always be told not to ride through Route 14 on a ship without reinforced bottom, for the sheer amount of Carvanha will tear it apart given the chance. This is also the reason why not to release weaker Water-Pokémon into the depths. Carvanha are generally more rarely seen by the the shores and towns, but out here? Here they’re the bread of the butter, the butter being Magikarps, which are everywhere. The two most common fish have secured their places. Who knows what might exist beneath this dangerous layer of piranhas?
This lake is commonly referred to as Dragon Lake, however the dragons mainly inhabit a single area of raised islands surrounded by cliffs at the northern part. That’s the part that the common patrols of the Lakewatchers circle, day in and night out, just in case someone would like to attempt catching some of their precious dragons like they once did… but albeit the majority of dragons seems to live there, there’s nothing saying you can’t potentially find dragons anywhere in Route 14. They’re just exceedingly rare.
The trip turned uneventful, other than saying hi to another ferry heading the other way and a large canoe with a number of Lakewatchers on, spying out over the waters and rowing around ever vigilant. They had a number of tourists in the back and a tour guide explaining things, probably heading in to potentially look at dragons.
Vivia spent the time admiring the view with Venonat. And also, maybe asking Skylar some questions.
‘So, er, how did it talk to you? Just, like, Psychic powers, or?’ she asked curiously. ‘How was the inside of the cave? Was it more architecture, did it go deep? And, uh, do we have any idea of what it is we’d be using the countermeasure for?’ she said, probably with a somewhat of a whisper so that nobody overheard.
No particular new birds could be seen. Though, the boat did float over numerous Magikarp and Carvanha…
Pokédex Entry #129 – Magikarp, the Fish Pokémon. While known for being extremely weak and washed away by even the weakest current, Magikarp can survive even in the most polluted of water. They’re incredibly fertile and have spread to waters all around the world. They jump fairly high, and older Magikarps are known to brave mountains with these jumps, seeking evolution.
Pokédex Entry #318 – Carvanha, the Savage Pokémon. Territorial and vicious, they’re known to swarm and attack anything that enters their territory. Their strong jaws and sharp teeth are known to have the power to tear out boat hulls. However, when on its own, they turn extremely timid.
No birds, though.
Eventually, the ferry would approach a town in the south-west of Dragon Lake. A town that appeared to have been built on top of the water…
The ferry landed at the docks and let Skylar and Vivia loose…
On the streets, the favoured Pokémon for getting around was definitely Quagsire, and there’s Woopers here and there just for hanging around.
Pokédex Entry #195 – Quagsire, the Water Fish Pokémon. A very easy-going Pokémon, they swim about and don’t even mind if they bump their heads into things. When hunting, it simply opens its mouth and moves no muscles, waiting for prey to blunder in. When not moving, it expands very little energy and does not need food for a long time.
Pokédex Entry #194 – Wooper, the Water Fish Pokémon. It lives in cold water, sleeping on the bottom and seeking food by the shore when it's cold. When walking above water, wild Woopers cover their bodies with a slimy, poisonous film that keeps them from dehydrating. It's slightly dull-witted.
