Current Re: cavemen 2, But 1 problem I ran into was balancing the inherent ARK-esque survival loop w/ traditional action-adventure-socializing RP developments. Tribals have it hard but RPs are power fantasy.

Re: cavemen topic, I once had an idea in which Players were primitives having 1st contact w/ a deity that grants a magic "starter kit." Exploring w/in the magic rules would adv. their world/tech etc.

@Elite Minor: If you want other people to see it/give feedback/etc, you could try The Gallery forum in the Off Topic section. If it's just storage then I'd second PMs to your own profile.

@Krasnaya: Try journaling in private, or saying your thoughts out loud under a hot shower. It's the expression of our feelings in more tangible form, not necessarily having an audience, that helps.

Looking good @Zeroth just going to say now tho, stuff like adept style and hunter arts won't be present in this RP, partly because I found them so broken in Gen and because Gen is also a spin off title. Tho monster like Gammoth and Mitzy will still be around there won't be things like deviants again because they are more of the crazy spin off kind of thing. Aside from that feel free to post your character in the character tab.

Yeah, I didn't know if you were going to allow styles or not so the "adept Hunter" line can be taken either way; the name of the style, or just the literal meaning of adept which is just a synonym for being skillful or whatever. Personally I thought some of the Hunter Arts were a little too much as well, but less because of how OP they were (though some of them certainly were) and more because of how they changed the traditional flow of the game and made it more of a race to fill up a meter, and spamming your get-out-free cards, instead of the usual steady, calculated pace where every action you take depends on your personal skill level.

For Deviant Monsters, though, are they really that different from G-Rank or Apex Monsters? The whole idea is just that they've survived longer and adapted to fighting against Hunters, just like Apex monsters have just adapted their immune systems to the Frenzy virus like when humans catch chickenpox. The only difference between them and true "sub species" is that they don't change their habitats or elements--they're just overall tougher and have a few new moves. I think it'd be cool to have them around.

I mean, just think about the terrifying chaos of fighting something with qualities from different games like Frontier G3, 4U, Generations, etc. Burst Deviant Apex Savage Deviljho. Imagine it. >:D
@LeamonZest89Here's my character sheet, hopefully everything checks out. If I need to change anything let me know.

@LeamonZest89Are you still accepting applications? I started the games with Tri on the Wii, and have played 3U, 4U and Generations on 3DS, though I haven't played the Stories spinoff. And does it matter what specific armor/weapon we start off with--like the Leather Set or Hunter's Set, Iron or Bone weapon, etc etc?
@Zerothjust wanna mention. Jojo and Mina are there as well. I case you didn't know

Ah, sorry. I knew they were doing laps around the school grounds but didn't realize they'd ended up there too. Should I edit, even though the extra mentions wouldn't work? I don't know if it would add much since Kenichi doesn't really know either of them yet either, although at least he knows Mina's name.

Boys' Dorms > Campus Grounds

“Ah that’s fine.” It wasn’t surprising he was asking about his quirk now. ”They are my quirk, and there’s seven of them that act like a boost in different ways. They make me act weird though, so it’s hard to use multiple at once. They boost things like strength, speed, senses and even healing. It feels weird to share them though.” He stopped sharing after that. When he asked if Kenichi was ready, the blue hair nodded and followed him out the door. But then the floating lights, an orange one and a red one, actually spoke up for themselves, which startled Kenichi a bit. Ayato sighed and explained.

”They also have their own personalities. I could introduce all of them if you want. I was also wondering what your quirk was.”

"Oh, mine's pretty simple." Kenichi said, gesturing to the mask over his face. "It's called Hyper Ventilation, but not like the kind where someone gets too hysteric and passes out. Basically, my lungs can move and store huge amounts of air--I can hold my breath for ten minutes at a time, easy, or blow hard enough to knock people over. But as I grew up the only other way I figured out to use it was like blood doping." He flexed an arm to demonstrate, the veins growing brighter in color as freshly oxygenated blood surged through them. "The more air I get, the more energy my muscles can use and the better they flush this stuff called lactic acid--that's what makes you tired or makes an exercise painful." Actually, now that Kenichi thought about it, Ayato was the one who had mentioned the far-away cage or whatever it was in Arsenal's class, so maybe he was smart enough to understand everything without Kenichi attempting to explain it. Oh well, less chance to bungle it up.

"My doctor told me my body adapted as I grew too, since my Quirk is one of the types that are always active, so I can handle pushing myself way past what would be safe for a normal athlete. But I'm no All Might or Desutegoro...at least not yet."

He put his hand on his chin for a moment as he considered what Ayato had said about his own Quirk.

"But, your Quirk seems pretty neat. Like having a guiding fairy or summon spirit in an RPG. But if using them gives you different powers, and there's seven of them, I bet their personalities are based on basic emotions, right? Anger, Sadness, Pride, Love, stuff like that?" There were supposed to be seven sins and seven virtues, and all the emotions were associated with different colors. Each of Ayato's little lights had been a different color up until now too, and the red and orange ones had been more assertive. Red was usually the color of something like anger, so to the blunette this hyper...hypno...hypothesis made the most sense.

As they headed down through the dorms, Kenichi caught the smell of cookies floating through the air. Acting as if they had nearly stepped on a minefield, he suddenly shot an arm out in front of Ayato.

"First rule of Fit, Ayato-kun! Carbs or fats depends on your end-goal, but avoid sugar as much as humanly possible!" he said, with an urgency in his voice and an uncomfortable amount of intensity in his eyes. Then he kept walking. "I smell meat too, though. Protein is pretty much your best friend on any diet or exercise regimen." The blue hair wondered who was in the kitchen, but figured it must have been multiple people since sweets and meat didn't sound like an ideal combination to him.

As they left the dorm building and starting heading around the campus to the gym, something else caught Kenichi's attention--the sound of a familiar voice shouting in a way that wasn't familiar. There were some people talking near the entrance gate, one of whom Kenichi felt like he could have picked easily out of almost any crowd. Mostly because of said person's antennae.

"Hey, Ayato-kun, I'm gonna say hi to a classmate real quick!" he told the other boy, before striding over towards Fumika and whoever it was around her. As he got closer he realized one of them was Jett, and he didn't recognize the other two girls. One of them bore a strong resemblance to Fumika, although she didn't seem nearly as quiet or passive, and the other...

Ouch, wonder what happened to her leg? Right, gotta remember not to say something stupid--this isn't like talking to Dad, so no jokes like you would make with him.

@Aerandir@Feyblue"Yo, Motome-chan! Jett-kun!" He raised a hand at the same time as he raised his voice in greeting, walking casually up to the group as his other hand pulled the breathing mask down to let it hang around his neck. In a sudden flash of mental insight he realized his workout clothes might not be the coolest thing--just a white A-shirt and a pair of blue shorts--and despite all the work he had put in thus far maybe his muscles still weren't cool enough to be put on open display like this. But oh well, too late to worry about that now...heck, why was he worrying in the first place, it wasn't like he wanted to be thought of as cool...

"You're so cool!" She said, her admiration obvious in her voice. Instead of her usual calm, stoic tone, she practically shouted these words, hopping halfway up from her chair before she evidently thought better of this decision and wobbled back down into a seated position.

Well, maybe a little bit...

"Everything, uh, alright?" He stopped just short of the group, looking around and giving a nod of acknowledgement to the two girls he didn't know. "I mean, I don't wanna interrupt anythin', I just...thought I heard Motome-chan shout." He scratched his cheek with a self-admonishing grin.
@ArtymisPkken mentioned that Roy might head to the gym too, but if y'all are fine with what seems to be a steadily growing nexus of characters that's cool with me.

We can all get SWOLE together XD

Boys' Dorms

The other guy introduced himself, and offered to let Kenichi call him by his given name. It was probably a good thing that the breathing mask was covering most of Kenichi's face, because he had a hard time reigning in his expression in response to that. It was one thing with some of the students who didn't have Japanese style names--which were a lot, actually, now that he thought about it--but Ayato was clearly Japanese and for another thing they didn't know each other really well yet, and for another thing calling somebody by their given name implied being very familiar with them, and given that the two of them were room-mates now he didn't want other students to make the wrong assumption about just what kind of familiar relationship they had. As a matter of fact he had a sudden, horrifying mental image:

He and Ayato sat on a bench eating their lunches, and the other boy spoke to him.

"Kenichi-kuuun~, that sure looks good!" Why did he sound like this in Kenichi's head, he didn't sound like that in real life.

"It is, Kamina-kun! Ya wanna try some?"

But then when he looked up, Fumika was looking at him with clear, crushing disdain in her eyes.

"Ah." she said, as her ahoge pointed at him accusingly. "So Yoshida was like that. I see."

Everything around him went black as his face turned almost as blue as his hair. Then the mental world shattered like glass.

"I, uh, wouldn't wanna seem rude to impose." he managed, turning his head and coughing into his fist...even though he was wearing a mask...

”That’s fine. It won’t bother me. Actually, if you don’t care, I’ll join you on your workouts. I really need to start working out more.” Kamina got changed in his workout gear too. He was ready to follow Kenichi to the gym.

"Ah, sure I guess." Kenichi was still on guard, but the idea of helping someone else improve appealed to him. Although if this was Ayato's first time using a real gym's equipment he might need some actual lessons to keep him from hurting himself, especially if he tried to follow Kenichi's lead instead of going at his own pace...

What was he mumbling about?

"Say, uh," Kenichi began as he pointed to the small flickering light that had just disappeared somewhere behind Ayato. "Are those lights part of your Quirk? If ya don't mind my asking, what is it?"
@pkkenThey could, yeah. Although Kenichi's purpose at the moment is lifting the weights--maybe he could teach Roy the art of SQUATZ N' OATZ!?

Villain Psych > Boys' Dorms

"Tch." Kenichi grit his teeth and began to move his share of the room back into place. What was that bullcrap? When he thought about Mamoru's explanation, he had to begrudgingly admit it made sense--Obsidian's lesson had been all about how Villains didn't play by rules, how they were unfair. And of course you couldn't trust them. So "who thinks they can hit me?" was, funnily enough, exactly what it sounded like--a question, not a challenge. So, like a villain daring the hero to step forward--right into a pitfall trap--the students who had managed to land a hit on her got detention for striking a teacher outside of official sanction. And like Mamoru had theorized, there was also the whole long-term goal versus short-term satisfaction thing too.

Why can't I be smart like that? the blue hair questioned himself. He noticed Yashiro's disapproving glance, but didn't meet the other boy's eyes. Ever since the training at Echo, he had been down on himself for not using his Quirk more intelligently. And now, after being tricked by a Villain, and only avoiding the punishment some of the others got because, unlike them, he just hadn't been good enough rather than because he had seen through any kind of trick, he was angry. Mostly at himself.

First impression's the most important--so is this first day how it's gonna be my whole time here? Maybe being a physical type who was only good at punching stuff, lifting stuff, and moving fast was his limit. Maybe he couldn't "go beyond," like All Might, because this was all he had to offer.

Fuck that.

As the principal's voice came over the intercom, ending the class and directing students to their dorms, Kenichi grabbed his schoolbag roughly, holding it over his shoulder with one hand while the other was jammed into his pocket. Slouching and scowling like a typical delinquent, he headed out the door as quickly as Madame Obsidian allowed.

As he made his way to the dorms, he stopped in the lobby where students' belongings had been brought in on dollies and found his suitcase with its Komei ID tag. Hauling it over his other shoulder--with a few heavy thumping sounds from inside it--he made his way to his room only to find that he wasn't the first one there. That seemed to be a trend today too.

"Yoshida Kenichi, comin' through!" he called as he bumped the door open with his knee and headed inside. It turned out his room mate was the soft spoken guy who didn't emote much. Though he had heard multiple voices, it seemed like only one other person was in here--but there was some kind of light show going on, presumably related to the other guy's Quirk. The far bed and one side of the closets had been claimed, but that didn't really matter to Kenichi. He simply let his suitcase thump down on the other bed, hung his school bag from the other edge of the long desk, and started unpacking his own stuff.

Those heavy thumps turned out to be from two dumb bells, each one weighing 30 kilograms. Then there was a bundle of resistance bands, ranging from 10 to 70 kilos, and a box of those special face masks designed to limit one's breathing during aerobic exercises so that their heart and lungs would be forced to work harder. Then the spare uniforms and regular clothes, a New 3DSXL, a motivational poster with, of course, All Might's monstrously buff figure plastered over the caption, some miscellaneous school supplies, toiletries, a pair of running shoes, and a couple of books on body building and athletics. And then, a second poster. Surprisingly, this one bore the face of the unpopular hero whose results nonetheless couldn't be argued with, the eternal number 2, Endeavor. Much like Madame Obsidian's example in Villain Psych, Kenichi had grown more fond of Endeavor after what had happened to his father for one reason: The fiery hero didn't take any shit from evil doers and had no qualms about beating them down.

"Nice to meetcha. Sorry, I never got your name in class." Kenichi said while he put his things away and tried to decide on a good spot for his posters. Hopefully the other guy wouldn't mind him putting them up. After Ayato-kun introduced himself, Kenichi started to change into some workout clothes and fastened one of the breathing masks over his chin.

"Well, I hope ya don't mind, but as you can see I'm the type who works out a lot." he gestured to the weights now stacked in the bottom of the closet. "I tend to get up around five every morning. Will that bother you?"

Once he was done with the introductions and pleasantries, Kenichi planned to hit the Gymnasium for a bit. He had to work off this anger and frustration somehow, and if he wasn't going to catch up to everyone else in the brain power department, the only thing he could think to do was make it so that what he did, he did better than anybody else possibly good. If strength and speed were his only good points, then he was going to push them through the roof.

Villain Psych

Kenichi crashed into the floor with a bone-shaking impact, rattling the chalkboard and teacher’s desk. Komei’s buildings had no doubt been reinforced to handle the occasional Quirk related accident, but even so he had dented the surface of the floor and cracked several tiles all around him. He shakily got to his feet, his body throbbing from the stress of his own momentum being so suddenly brought to a halt.

The six armed girl attacked Madame Obsidian head-on as the teacher used her own Quirk to get back that thermos--from the smell of something burning and the way the metal container started to glow, it had to be something to do with fire, or maybe some kind of energy transference. Roy used his own solar-powered constructs to create a large hand, trying to grab the Villainess from behind.

“Careful, Roy-kun!” Kenichi called, as he grabbed the desk and gave it a hefty push to clear the area further--the more people got involved, the more room they were going to need to fight. Especially considering his own quirk that required so much movement to build up speed and power. “If she does stuff with heat, she might be able to absorb that!”

With those multiple limbs everywhere, and Roy on the other side, Kenichi couldn’t see any openings to try and make another attack of his own. But at this point the “exercise”--if it could even be called that anymore since a self-admitted Villain had turned that kind of expression on a student--was getting so chaotic they were going to end up with another “1-A Incident.” Idly Kenichi wondered how many classes today were going to end with someone heading to the Nurse’s office.
