So, the IC is up. You can feel free to post as you see fit, just try to keep at least 2 posts in between each player, so that we don't fall into needless speed posting. I'm sending this message mostly because I'm sure some of you may not have been notified thanks to the 10 nofications limit that each post seems to have.

Also, you can fell free to engage and defeat/try another plan against the enemies as you see fit, as long as no one goes Mary Sue here. Please try to keep this realistic within your character's capabilities.

Other than that, just try to have fun and if something seems confusing don't hesitate to ask.

The land of Valys, a world tormented by the shadow of conflict ever since time immemorial. This world which is divided by three great powers, the mighty Empire, the resolute Alliance and the crafty Grand Duchy, may be a world that will never know the meaning of true peace, whose frontiers shift and waver to the dance of its nation's powers like the ocean tides ebb and flow according to the caprices of the moon.

However, even such a world of conflict has its moments of much-needed reprieve and that's is exactly what the Liberation Festival is for. The annual feast in which all warriors put down their arms and the people celebrate the defeat of the vile Goddess of Strife by the Heroes of Legend. During the days of the festival, a competition between the aspiring knights of every nation is held in neutral grounds and all battles are abolished by law.

But, as is said, all rules have their exception. Such an exception would soon become the turning point of a group of Imperial Cadets sent to a patrol mission at the Northern Frontiers. What fate has in store these young warriors? Will they give in to the weight of the whole world? Will they forge a name for themselves and become the next legends to be celebrated for eons to come?

That's what we are about to find. But first, their story shall begin like many others, around a hot meal in a bone-chilling Northern evening...

Northern Arcadia
Arden Highlands

"Alright, Cadets, you have been doing a good job so far but don't let your guard down just because we are a couple days away from our last objective, Fort Orello, the last bastion of the Empire's defense in the North. If you let your own competence cloud your judgment, you are liable to meet an unsavory demise on the battlefield." The raspy voice of the Knight Captain Velocchio sent by the Academy to oversee the Cadets' training echoed through the camp as she barked orders left and right.

The darkness encroached fast fast on the hilly lands of the Northern Empire, especially around this time of the year when the Winter was still a very fresh memory. After all, the Liberation Festival was celebrated on the first weekend of every Spring, without a fault... at least on recent history.

A freezing wind blew through the Cadets' camp, threatening to blow away their all too precious fire even as tonight's meal was about to get ready to eat. Such a meal, a hearty venison stew, was a luxury for soldiers on the battlefield, brought to them by luck on today's hunt. No doubt it would also be the last good meal, non-preserved meal they would have before reaching their expedition's destination as the lands around this area are comprised mostly of complicated hills and forests.

Beyond the exceedingly complex terrain, which in an of itself acted as a barrier to deter unfriendly advances from the North, laid the famous valley where Fort Orello and its namesake village were located. Being one of the last remaining citadels of the Old Empire, originally build to thwart the lackeys of the vile Goddess of Strife, Orello is one of the Empire's most critical defense positions, standing right in the way of the Grand Duchy's forces.

The village of Orello itself is very well known through the most of the Empire for the quality of it's beer, made from their freshly clean waters, as well as for their sheep, whose both wool and meat are coveted as luxury goods.

However, unknown to the Cadets', they would not have an easy time reaching their destination.

Half an hour later

"Unknown armed forces spotted to the northeast of our position. It's the enemy, the enemy, Sir— gahh!" Those were the last words of Wagnil Strauss, one of the group's scouts, before being hit in the back by two gun shots. It seems like the very enemy he spotted managed to track him back to the Cadets' camp and began their attack without any sort of warning.

"Our position have been compromised, get your arms and ready yourselves for the battle," the Captain shouted as she took cover behind tree, holding on to Strauss' limp body.

The enemy, which attacked from all sides of the camp, were comprised of light infantry forces, numbering at around one and half dozen. Apparently, one third of their forces were comprised riflemen, with the remaining soldiers wielding light shields and battle axes, all their gear bore a striking resemblance to that of the Duchy's military, thought they didn't bore any form of visible identification. They attacked in groups of two shocktroopers and one riflemen from separate directions leaving only a small corridor, which would lead straight into a nearly impossible to traverse rocky hillside, open for escape.

What was the reason behind such an attack? Who was behind it? And what would the Cadets do in face of such a drastic outcome? That's what will be found out pretty soon... maybe.

@McFazzer

Your character feels quite alright for me. I don't see any issues with his abilities, to say the truth. You can move him to the CS tab as well.
PS: With this, it seems like that there's only @McFazzer left to apply a character. I guess I'll be getting the IC ready if not today, then up to Tuesday, for sure.

We seem to have gone slight above the quota I thought initially, but that's not a big deal, we will be keeping the players we have for now.

Sorry for the delay on getting this over. I changed her attitude and abilities.

She seems alright now. You can move her to the CS tab.
@KoL Wow, I disappear for a few days and more people joined. I'm glad ^~^

Speaking of disappearing, i might not be able to join as I'm without Internet for a bit.

Oh, well, that's a shame. If you ever are able to come, we will be over the actual thread.
I'll post for Hell and Heavens' sides tomorrow. I just wanted to get something for the Machina out of the way, first.

Plus, I didn't have the time or will to do a bigger post. At least I hope this will get some developments going for them.

Hyperion, High Queen's Chambers

With yet one more defeat in a major skirmish hanging over their heads, it was no wonder to imagine that the morale of the Machina Forces was at an all time low. Even if the High Queen provides them with a life of luxury that none of the other factions of the former Triumvirate can ever hope to achieve.

The losses they have been amassing such as the impossible defeat at Ruthria, when the Machina not only outnumbered but outgunned the enemy at the final confrontation, all the way up to the recent massacre at Arcadia, when the Blood Countess' Demon Roses made all of the Machina efforts completely moot, weighed far more on the collective consciousness than victories like that of Point Hephaistos.

Eos worried, deep in her chambers, what was the factor behind it all? Her processors calculated every possible variable but never found the cause for why the Machina fell so low. "If this continues even the newer weapons will become useless. I must address the issue through another way," Eos thought. That was when something unexpected happened, the stoic High Queen of the Machina recalled a memory of her past, long before she was found by the Nexus' mankind, something that have her an idea of how to proceed.

This would have to wait, as Eos found her feet guiding her away from her chambers as soon as she noticed that Bastin had returned to Hyperion. As the Queen made her way to Bastion's room, she set her plan into motion, broadcasting a message to be relayed to the rest of the Machina territory by their extensive communication network.

Something unprecedented was about to happen. But before it, Eos had a personal encounter with her most valuable treasure. Such a meeting would begin with the Eos knocking on Bastion's door before walking in.

"I was... worried..." Those were first words Eos directed to her friend in a long time. Now, the stoic robot had to think on how to proceed with the conversation, leaving a gaping silence between them. Maybe Bastion felt like filling it?

Hyperion, Karaoke Bar

"Hey, you glorified vending machine, raise up that thing's volume. There's something interesting on air," a very rude voice said to the service android that ran the bar. For most people on the relatively crowded establishment it would feel like a just one more 'meatbag' was trying to be cocky. However, those who were part of the game ran a certain alchemist not too long ago, such a voice would be unmistakable.

The news on the holoTV were relating a very uncommon, indeed a first time, event.

"... to conclude this edition," the news droid said as the video cut to the image of a gigantic concert hall, located not very far from the High Queen's palace, at the heart of Hyperion. "Her Royal Majesty, High Queen Eos, issued a message for her subjects," the droid's voice said before the projection was cut to that of Eos' bust. Some of the less tipsy occupants of the bar even rose from their seats, the mere glimpse at the High Queen's visage being enough to inspire awe on the hearts of all but the most foolish, Men and Machina alike.

"Listen to me, my Children. We know that the war has placed heavy tolls on us as of late. Even the most stalwart between you needs some rest eventually. I shall grant a moment of reprieve to all in the form of a Royal Concert. This is not a compulsory command. All who don't want to are free to ignore this call. This will be a chance not to recharge your power and ammunition but to recharge your spirits, do as your own will decrees," Eos' projection said, before flickering off. The news droid concluded his transmission just as the same message was being broadcast by every of the Machina mass communication means.

"Hah! That certainly is going to cause an uproar, will it not? Her High Majesty finally remembered that she was built as the replacement goldfish for a certain Schrodinger's Idol. Let's see where this will go," the voice, coming from a table right besides the one where Hibiki and the Tatianas were sitting, said once again. Naturally the only being who could do such a blasphemous declaration within the Machina lands was the Alchemist of Genesis, Hohenheim, whose narcissism and lack of respect for any other being were well known to many, now.

Hohenheim sat cross-legged at a cushioned chair, occasionally flashing her obnoxiously perfect smile when she wasn't eating an appetizer. Regardless of that she 'seemed' to be unaware of Tatiana and Hibiki. In all likelihood, she was feigning ignorance to goad them. The question was for what, and why Hohenheim was there.
