Current Noble Arms is now either four years old, or three years and eleven months. The third thread had lasted for more than one year.

My Roleplay, Noble Arms: The ASEAN War, will reach its 4th year in June or July. It's been a long journey.

Despite its massive flaws, my RP, Noble Arms: The ASEAN War, is still one of the longest ongoing RPs in RPGuild - It turns 4 years old in July and the current thread itself is more than a year old.

Chapter One, Desperation in Lingayen, Part Nine

Lingayen Beach, Municipality of Lingayen, Lingayen Gulf - 9/25/2022, 17:25 UTC+8

Those who had been under the dome may have witnessed two unusual sights: that of the remains of Ari’s barrier, glittering and drifting down around them like gold dust; and that of Ari herself dropping abruptly to her knees, the shape of her shield Adamantius blurring and then blinking away. Those perhaps inadvisably close might have caught the smell of her burning, charred clear through by a thin stream of colorless, odorless, primordial gas. She looked down at the sand before her, eyes wide, hands shakily climbing to her chest. She emitted a series of very soft choking noises.

Noel was at least close enough to see her fall. He spoke into his radio: “Our defensive barrier has been broken,” Noel was trying to keep himself calm, firm, not entirely emotionless, but projecting only a leader’s emotions; he needed to look fearless, and he looked to Nemo, “We need to get it back up; that means that Nemo and I have to go to where Ari is and heal her before she dies.”

Then he responded to Lotus Squadron’s transmission with one of his own, “Roger that, Lotus Squadron! Everyone else, including Volunteer Makri, out of Huo Ren’s spot as fast as you can! It’s going to be a crater soon!”

The boy sighed, glancing at the setting sun, tired out from the constant fighting. Then he asked Qingshe, “Liason Lei, time for the final leg of the battle, right? I and Nemo will be going to try and heal our barrier mistress before she expires unless you have–?”

There was a loud, harsh, explosive sound from the hills.

-------

Even while reeling from Nico’s kick, the Dragon of the Zodiac switched all the way from a pained grimace into a hideous grin as he caught that sound. He dismissed his Noble Arm once again, and reached up to his ear with his remaining arm, brushing his hair aside with a slight flourish, scanning across all those in front of him - Princess Fuyuko, the brave white-haired flanker, the King, and the Witch closing rapidly…

His smile died a little, with regret that he was in no position to destroy them all himself.
“Zǒu ba, Cáo Bǎo,” he said.

And then Lotus Squadron’s cannon fire plummeted down from the clouds and plunged into the sands, a storm of dust and shrapnel, blinding and slicing and blasting into the melee, ignorant of friend and foe.

-------

To Nil, Callie, and Henri, the sound of that blast was deafening - head-splitting - and the cause of the sound was far worse than that.

The spires of glass that were once around them emitted a distorted, twisted cackle.

“Nn-hnn-hnn-hnn… ahahahAHAHAHA!”

And then the hill buckled - deformed - all at once, collapsed. As they escaped on the helicopter, they had the opportunity to see that the ground had quite literally escaped from under them. Like a living being awakening with violence in its heart, the hill, starting with the peak and going down, began flowing in a single direction: toward that section of the beach where there was once a dome to protect the main Philippine force.

-------

As the sun approached the horizon, one huge shadow lengthened over the beach faster than the rest. An amorphous roaring crashing monster, shedding stones and clods of earth in a perpetual malicious avalanche, pulled itself from the hills and began to rush for the Philippine army at a terrible speed, blocking the river’s mouth which had been in its way and thus putting Alain, who was still by the riverbank, in harm’s way.

At the end of the day, he would be presumed missing in action, not having gotten out fast enough as the glass and the sand, the earth, and the mud swept through his position.

Andrew Rivers

All his life, Andrew had been taken in by the stories of 'Adorably Precocious Children', particularly the types who were able to navigate the world of politics and intrigue as well as any adult, using their child's looks and enthusiasm and the fact that everyone underestimated them in order to achieve their goals. He wanted to be one of them, knew he could be one of them if given the chance; he was a genius, he knew things which others did not, and he was 'adorable'.

Or so he thought.

Reality was a harsher mistress. Where once he was top dog among the other kids, here he was mistrusted, looked down upon, and regarded as a potential enemy. They had manhandled him a little before interrogations, too. But Andrew knew enough not to bridle - He had learned patience from his imprisonment.

And so upon hearing the explosion of Governor Xiu's headquarters, Andrew waited a little longer, for the Free People's Army to send someone to him to confirm what he had already inferred - That the Governor was dead and the situation in Yuzhny Portveyn was worse than ever. There was a time to act fast and this was now. And so his next words (after checking the rank of the person sent to talk to him, of course) were, "The Green Knights have a few exclusive channels; I know some of them. However, you will need to let me access communications equipment - Anything else but my voice and they'll think you tortured or killed me for the info. As for why I didn't tell you this before... You didn't trust me enough back then."

He needed them to believe him. He needed them to see the determination, the resolution, in his eyes. He needed to convince them. He also needed to convince himself that there was no way he could have told them about the exclusive channels earlier, that he needed them to trust him more first, that he hadn't just neglected to tell them about it because he was still emotional about his friends dying and his father being in peril and how everything was on a knife's edge.

After all, child/teen geniuses didn't get emotional, except around people they loved, and in order to show them that they are not cold and heartless monsters.

Either way, he waited, waited for them to bring him before their higher-ups, and waited for them to listen to his promises and his offer of exclusive comms channels. And above all, waiting for them to let him access better comms equipment, dangit!

No sign of frustration showed on his face, or rather he thought that there wasn't any sign of frustration on his face; perhaps there was? He was prepared to plead, to let them have a glimpse of the boy behind the 'Wannabe Guile Hero', if only they'd let him have access to the equipment needed to access the Green Knights' comms channels before it was too late - Don't they know that without the Green Knights themselves, the Free People's Army would lose the reprieve they've gained for a city that they have a chance of controlling now?

If they let him near the comms equipment - It didn't matter if they had a gun placed at the back of his head - If they let him have access to a comms suite, he'd access the most encrypted channel he knew, a channel that his father, Reya, and the Colonel were likely to have kept open. And he'd say, his voice cracking with an undignified, un genius-like sob, "Gawain Green Knights, repeat, Gawain Green Knights? Are you here? Are you alive? This is Andrew Rivers. Repeat, this is Andrew Rivers. No, I'm not in Fort Tie Shan right now; I'm somewhere safe. If you're able to receive my calls, tell my father I love him and to get on the comms right now. Also, if Engineer Reya is still alive, tell her I'm sorry for ever planning to marry her for her noble title."

And if he was allowed to talk further, he'd say, "As for the Colonel, I'm sorry for being trouble and going off on my own, but I'm safe now. I hope Dad didn't go crazy in my and Mom's absence; she still isn't safe."

Andrew Rivers, the Wannabe Guile Hero, would not realize the irony in that last sentence until later...

Howdy everyone, looking for people to do an Gundam inspired rp story, be it universal, iron blooded orphans or an original setting, I’m flexible and only want some people to explore stories and plots based off a common interest. Feel free to comment or contact me on discord.

@MagusDream, Willard's Lore and Backstory are approved; just remember that Noble Arms would not be a 'recent' problem as they've been around since Late WW2.
@The World@Chiro@Aisede@MagusDream@Lewascan2@Conscripts@Gerlando@Senhara@Creative Chaos@Nimbus:

@SkyHresvelg has given up her position as Co-GM, meaning that @Sniblet, who is also a Co-GM, but who cannot be listed as one on the thread due to site limits back then, can now be officially listed as one.
@Andromedai

@Letter Bee I'm fine with another NCR member, though them being Jimmy's direct superior may be a bit of a logistical stretch: Considering he was dispatched from an encampment in Wyoming, it would make sense for his superiors to be located there rather than following their scouts out into uncharted territory.

Thanks for your answer; it works.
<Snipped quote by Letter Bee>

Well, misreading aside I think much of the same or similar logistical challenges would be raised. Though now Muhammad Ali could absolutely send canon down if they wanted to. But at a very early point the siege guns would slow the force down enough they can be engaged in attrition warfare, or the guns are stolen. Or abandoned so the main army could establish some position somewhere and then the guns are stolen. There's a reason Napoleon himself didn't drag his artillery run in the Egyptian and Levantine campaigns, because they're too heavy for (necessarily) under-developed terrain, and he had to move to a position first to exert control and the large guns shipped there on boats for delivery.

But if this is also to be doomed to be a Lions Led By Donkeys ass military expedition then this is and should be expected.

Thanks; maybe this could lead to unintentional consequences which would strengthen Ethiopia in the future...
@Andromedai, wait, is SPECIAL 39, or 40?
