Interesting. So the girl wasn’t only unsure if her mother was in town or not, but she seemed concerned about it. Marius couldn’t help but wonder why she seemed to be so nervous upon the mention of Catherine. Did the girl finally escape her mother’s grasp for a bit? Finally got out to see a bit of the world? ”Worry not, I don’t actually know if your mother is in town. I’d only assumed that she may be since you’re here. Forgive me if I startled you.” He said to her, trying to calm her a little. He also took notice of the other dark haired woman walking towards them, standing up proud. As the woman gave him a knowing smile, he in turn gave her a coy smile of his own. He had no clue who she was, but she seemed rather interesting.

His attention was caught once more by Helene as she asked who he was, claiming he looked familiar. ”Marius Dupont at your service, Mademoiselle.” He introduced himself as he gave her a gentlemanly bow. ”We’ve only met a handful of times at your mother's estate. Apologies, I should not have expected you to remember someone like myself. It is hard, however, to forget someone as lovely as yourself.” He gave her his most charming smile, deciding befriending the daughter of the Sinclair Foundation’s leader wasn’t such a bad idea.

”If you don’t mind, might I inquire as to what brought you to Ember Grove? I hope you don’t think me rude, but your reaction to my earlier question makes me wonder if your mother knows where you are? If she doesn’t know I want to assure you I’m not going to be the one to rat you out. That secret will be safe with me, but I do also hope you’d allow you to look out for you a small bit. Ember Grove is filled with some...treacherous monsters and it’s helpful to have a reliable friend you can call on for help if need be.”

Elsea stared for a moment at the portal that had opened in the demon's chest, watching as small things got sucked in then slowly larger things. This wasn’t good, this wasn’t good at all. When would the hole stop sucking stuff in and how strong would it get? She definitely didn’t want to find out. She glanced over briefly at Malachi, then to Cora, then back to him as she mouthed ’I’ll get her to the port.’ She then heard Cade speak and gave him a grin before Cora led them the rest of the way out of the ball.

She watched the girl collapse onto the grass and let her do so for a moment, but it was obvious Elsea was eager to get further away from this building. She had no doubt that the demon would have the power to suck up the entire building and she wanted to be far from there when that happened. ”Well now we get out of Roshmi and make our way to the port, all while praying that our allies make it there safely as well.” She told the other human and then turned to Cade.

”I’m Elsea, by the way. Don’t think I’ve introduced myself yet. Do you by chance know a way out of this city so that we can possibly head towards the port?” She asked as she gave him a grateful smile for helping them get out of the ball.

The big black portal opening up in the demon's chest was something that Torvi had not been expecting. She watched as it began to suck things into its chest, the force of it slowly growing stronger. She then also noticed the stare that she got from the warrior woman, but it didn’t phase her one bit as she watched the woman go to help someone injured. While she understood trying to help as many as possible, Torvi also knew that as a human it was important to preserve her life if she wanted to help the greater Avalia. Unfortunately she knew that it meant that some of the very few injured that were still stuck inside would likely perish, but the loss of them in order to save herself could mean that Torvi would save many more in the future.

The demon bashed a hole in the wall now and she watched as Kuroi ran for it, urging them to also follow. She did, however she stood in the opening for a moment longer as she still watched the demon and watched the portal keep growing in power. The ground began to tremble, but she somehow managed to stay on her feet before turning and exiting the ballroom. She heard Ayita speaking again and she remained quiet as she watched her, shaking her head at the last bit she said. That’s when someone in the crowd yelled out at her, the person being of similar mind to those that Torvi had earlier killed. ”None of this would have happened if you humans wouldn’t have come here! This is your fault! You humans are a curse on this land!” He screamed angrily and a few more began to chime in, agreeing with him. It was time for Torvi to speak now.

”You all should leave from here, get further away! That demon is showing no signs of slowing and I fear he won’t stop sucking things up until the entire building is gone including things close to it! So go! If you’re a decent Avalian then help those injured as well!” She then moved up to Ayita and spoke softer to her.

”A word of caution, be careful what you say to this crowd and who you invite to the port. There are still enemies amongst this crowd and we don’t want to be the cause of them finding the safehaven of rebels.” She then walked away from her without another word, frustrated with several things that had happened this evening. She then approached Kuroi, her frustration apparent on her face. Both him and the woman spoke too much in a time that required action, but she tried to ignore that frustration.

”I do hope you know a way out of this city? I need to get to that port and make sure my friends are alright.” She asked him, her weapons she’d procured earlier still within her grasp.

It seemed Volfango hadn’t only flustered Sorrel, but also Finn which she found slightly amusing while also strangely comforting. Quickly pulled out three glasses and placed them on the table before going to grab the milk and some apple juice. She filled one glass with milk as requested by Volfango while she poured herself some apple juice and then left both on the table so that Finn could decide on what he wanted. She then took her seat as Finn also returned and took his own seat. She was rather quiet at first as she realized that she was going to have to have a potentially sensitive discussion with these two. There was no getting around it, she had questions about last night. Of course she wouldn’t force either of them to answer her, but she needed to ask.

Volfango finished cooking and presented the dishes to them which caused Sorrel to smile a bit. ”With all the flattery you give, Volfango, I’d be careful. I mean I might let it go to my head.” She said with a giggle, taking in the wonderful smell of the breakfast. She also noticed the hint of red on Finn’s cheeks and couldn’t help but smirk a little at him before going to take a bite of her food. She paused, however, as Finn asked her a question and she looked back up at him. Well here went nothing.

”Absolutely, in fact both of you are welcome to stay. My home is open to you.” She paused as she looked between the two. ”Under one condition, though.” She looked to Finn first as he was the one that asked to stay. ”What brought you here to Ember Grove when you have nowhere to go?” Then she looked at Volfango. ”And my question for you, my dear, is where is the one that turned you into a werewolf?” She only gave a moment's pause before deciding to clarify why she was asking these questions.

”I apologize if these questions touch on anything sensitive, but my reason for asking is because I see two lone wolves in front of me. One of you is VERY young and was obviously left on his own to figure things out which isn’t fair. The other one has obviously been a wolf for a while and yet has no pack, this is very unusual.” She took a breath, fully expecting a negative reaction from at least one of them. ”I don’t ask to pry into your lives, I ask because I want to help you both in any way I can. I know how hard it can be to be a wolf on your own and so I’ve made it my goal as an alpha to help out any lone wolves I can if they’ll allow it. So will you allow me to help you?” Sorrel now waited for whatever reaction she would get from the two men in front of her. Helmar had even come over and taken a spot at her side almost protectively in case things were to go south.

Kenia, Darius,
Bowyn, Vaeril
&
Elthrael

Kenia kept up a steady, yet quick pace as she led the group through the streets of Roshmi. She did her best sticking more to the shadows and streets that seemed less populated as the last thing they needed was to be stopped by dark elf guards and questioned. She let the others talk behind her, occasionally glancing back just to make sure everyone was keeping up. It was obvious, however, that she wasn’t quite in the mood for discussing things yet as she was more focused on getting them to the inn safely and then out of the city. There were a couple times that she motioned for everyone to stop and quiet down for a moment as guards passed them, before continuing on.

Kenia almost thought she would have some trouble keeping Darius quiet due to how much he was speaking to both Vaeril and Bowyn. He had scolded Vaeril at any given chance, seemingly knowing the elven male. With Bowyn, Darius had gone on about the so-called viking and how a prominent group of them were from Minnesota. He claimed they had four special rings due to their legendary prowess against other groups.

Finally Kenia stopped the group and turned to face them. ”Okay the inn is right around the corner. I should only be a couple minutes and then I’ve mapped out a route out from here earlier. Obviously I had no idea things were going to go to hell like they have, but I do like to be prepared if it ends up that way and I’m glad I was.” She informed them all and then turned, going around the corner. The sight she was met with caused her to freeze and her blood went ice cold. There, outside the inn, stood eight dark elf guards talking and laughing amongst each other. Within the center of them was a body, someone Kenia was very familiar with. ”Rei…” She breathed out in shock, despair also evident in the one word. She felt tears welling up in her eyes, but then something took a hold of her. A deadly rage filled her as her expression turned to something lethal, especially when she saw one of the elves holding up Rei’s silver ring necklace. ”Stay here.” She told the others, a dangerous tone to her voice as she retrieved a dagger that she had hidden on her leg. She began heading towards the guards with deadly intent.

Darius' hand moved to reach her, but Kenia was already set before he realized what may have been going through her head. Shit… Is that him on the ground?! What is she going to do?!

Vaeril however had decided to follow Kenia up to the dark elves. “Don’t worry I can keep up and I have chosen to help you deal with this issue.” he told Kenia, walking shortly behind her. “We shall dispatch them together.” he said quietly.

Bowyn saw the sharp hint of moonlight reflect off the dagger as Kenia retrieved it. It was clear what she aimed to do, and Bowyn thought it was reckless and impulsive. The group had not yet been seen by the dark elves, they could still slip away unnoticed but he also knew from the way Kenia had said the name ‘Rei’ that the now dead human was a friend of hers. Bowyn didn’t have to wonder what he would do if his own human friends suffered a similar fate, he too would want vengeance. Bowyn glanced over at Darius and responded in a whisper, ”I believe that she is going to end those who ended her friend.”

Bowyn followed Kenia just after Vaeril did. “In this, elf, I have your back.” Bowyn whispered, resolved that if he was going to be a part of this rebellion, then the time for his inaction had certainly come to an end. Kenia’s reaction to the death of a human was enough for Bowyn to know which side she was on, and the sound of grief in her voice was enough to decide that action was necessary.

”They’re mine. They’ve killed my family and now they’re going to pay.” Kenia hissed at Vaeril and that drew the attention of one of the dark elf guards.

“Halt! Any closer and we’ll be forced to attack!” The man said to the group and this merely made Kenia grin sadistically at him before she moved swiftly, closing the distance. The guard swung his sword towards her, but Kenia dropped down and slid under the attack all while using her light magic to disappear from sight. As she reappeared she was throwing a dagger of light at a different confused guard, embedding it in his throat as she slit the throat of the guard that had spoken. Without skipping a beat she grabbed the sword and spun on another guard, blocking his attack with both dagger and sword. She vanished again as she spun around this one before impaling him on her sword. Kenia was now at the man who was holding the necklace, shock evident on his face at how quickly three of his companions fell. She used this moment to fling a scythe of light magic at him, severing his hand that gripped the necklace before she tackled him to the ground. She began viciously stabbing him over and over until he moved no more. She grabbed the necklace and turned to look at the others, blood now covering her.

”Who’s next?”

Vaeril watched Kenia slaughter four of the guards with relative ease. He found himself impressed. “Very well done, but don’t take all the fun for yourself. I guess it’s my turn!” He said before raising his hand into the air and quickly slashing down, causing a small door of light magic to appear in front of himself. Vaeril then took one step and shifted in between the four remaining guards. “And now you shall perish!” he said to the guards now, surrounding him. Vaeril grabbed one of the guards by the throat and used light magic to surround the hand holding the elf, burning through his throat, then he turned quickly to block an attack from a dark elf's sword with the body. He then dropped the body and grabbed the dark elf who tried to attack him, kneeing him in the stomach causing the guard to bend over. “An attack from behind how dirty, but such a foolish attempt!” He said before creating a spear that instantly went through his body as it was created. Vaeril then turned to the last remaining guards raising his hands towards them and shot two bolts made of light into their heads. “I think that is all of them outside, check the area and the inn” He told the others.

"Uhh… Sure…" Darius had watched both Vaeril and Kenia dispatch the dark elf soldiers, but his primary focus was on the body of the young man on the ground. The image burned into Darius' mind while the demon within tugged at him to take action. The poor guy didn't even know what to do. For now, he would hang in the rear to support using his magic if need be.

Meanwhile, Bowyn left Kenia and Vaeril to deal with the dark elves outside, slipping past them as they began the fight and into the inn to check for more. Two more dark elves stood guard on either side of the door, and he spun towards the first one. As the guard lunged at him Boreas flew from his shoulder with a loud screech. The merlin flew towards the attacking guard, raking his talons against the dark elf’s eyes before moving swiftly out of the way. Bowyn used that second of surprise to grab the guard, grappling with him until the guard was positioned in front of him, shielding him from any strikes from the second dark elf as he too moved to attack.

Bowyn’s left hand gripped the neck of the dark elf, his right gripped the dark elf’s wrist as he moved to draw his sword. The cold that Bowyn exuded prevented the dark elf from overpowering him, as frost began etching itself in the dark elf’s skin. His magic flowed from his fingers into the dark elf, freezing every bit of moisture the elf's body contained. Bowyn could feel his own magic inside every frozen crystal of the elf as he began to crack and expand with the sudden freezing. In a swift motion he pulled his hands away from the elf keeping control of the frozen bits of flesh and willing them to be pulled and reformed from what remained of the elf’s body into a collection of shrapnel. Bowyn flung the shrapnel at the second elf, slicing through skin and with one shard slitting the dark elf’s throat. The second elf bled out in a matter of seconds. Bowyn grabbed the sword from the wreckage of what now remained of the first dark elf, and scanned the inside of the inn, ready for the possibility of more.

Outside, Jack squatted with his scythe over his shoulder on the roof of the inn, looking down upon the group left outside. He lifted the head of Rei over the ledge and watched as blood dropped down onto Kenia's face. Initially Kenia thought the drips on her face were from the rain that seemed to be threatening to fall as lightning lit up the sky and thunder rolled. Soon, however, she realized the feeling of the liquid wasn't the same as rain as she went to wipe at it. The blood mingled with the blood already on her hands, however, and so she looked up.

"Y-y-y-you must be looking for this bloke? He is up here, lass! He isn’t screaming as much anymore though." Jack laughed chaotically before dropping the head down beside her. "N-N-N-NOW WE HAVE THE FINALE THAT IS YOUR D-D-D-DEATH!!!" Jack yelled as he tilted his head cracking his neck, He then stood up and readied his scythe, ready to not only combat but kill those down below. Unbeknownst to him, his yell had carried off to quite the peculiar fellow...

Elthrael had gotten further away from his attacker and where he had departed from Risa, his first choice of action had been to heal his wings and hearing, as soon as he had reassured he wasn't being observed. As his hearing had returned from the effects of his healing magic, the first thing he was met with was a distant yell which made his aching ears perk up. The moth fairy darted away mid-air towards the direction of the sound and upon reaching it, landing on a nearby roof which had a chimney. The fairy was met with the scene of a bloodbath outside of an inn.

'My my, such a mess... but what do we have here?' He thought as his eyes set on the individuals about, watching them from his vantage point. To the moth fairy it seemed like there was some kind of struggle still underway below, between a group and a man standing on what seemed to be the roof of the nearby inn.

A soft smile began to decorate his lips as he considered the next course of action, still occasionally looking about to make certain he wasn't snuck up on. Just who were these people? The scattered dead ones were most certainly dark elves, yet he couldn't pick out a dark elf amongst those remaining. What he would soon know and witness for sure, was a meeting between violence and madness. An unraveling...

Horror filled Kenia as she watched Rei's head fall to the ground. For a moment the head morphed into that of her son and then back into Rei. She vaguely heard the words of the human above her as she stared for a long moment and the dead boy she'd begun thinking of as her son. Then she began to laugh. It started as a small giggle, but soon morphed into a belly laugh before she looked up at Jack. "Oh I'm going to have so much fun with you!" She said as she gave him the smile of a mad woman. She flung a chain of light right at the handle of his scythe, yet at the same time she did this she also made a small slash of light right at the back of one of his heels, attempting to slice right through his achilles tendon. She then yanked the light chain forward, attempting to pull him down to her level.

Jack had allowed the chain to attach to his scythe and jumped into the air to dodge the slash at his feet. Before touching the ground, he created a small tornado running down the chain. He then propelled himself through the wind tunnel of the small tornado towards Kenia at full speed. At the last second before impact, he moved to the side while grabbing the chain to swing it and cause Kenia to stumble from the force before slashing the chain to cut himself loose "N-N-N-NICE TRY DARLING BUT YOU WILL NEED TO DO BETTER THAN THAT!" Jack yelled to Kenia.

From inside the inn Bowyn heard the crack of thunder and shouting from back outside, with the inn appearing to be clear of any more dark elves. He turned his attention to those outside and from the entrance to the inn Bowyn saw the severed head that lay at Kenia’s feet, and he saw the blood soaked elf laughing with madness in her eyes. He gave Boreas a look that told the bird to stay inside but as he moved to leave he saw the bird move to take off and follow him. As Bowyn quickly left the inn he shut the door behind him, ensuring that Boreas could not follow, Boreas would be mad but he would be alive. Outside he saw the fight already in progress between two equally mad opponents, and while Kenia’s state was understandable to him, the human, Jack, was clearly nothing like the humans he had met before, he was not only insane but a force of pure evil as well.

Darius slowly shook his head, visibly disturbed at this point at both Kenia and Jack. To him they were both mad. He glanced over to Vaeril who appeared unbothered. A neutral bystander. Darius did not want to be that. Not again.

The clouds soon darkened and rain drizzled down upon the scene. Then a thick fog started to coat the area around them."J-J-J-Just like London." Jack now in a more quiet unsettling tone before jumping back into the fog. He then sent slashes of wind towards Kenia with his scythe, but the attacks were met with a wall of water hastily generated by Darius. The wind sliced through but the attacks were dulled considerably. Kenia had been ready, however, as soon as Jack disappeared into the fog as she threw up a light shield. She hadn't been expecting the wall of water as an extra layer of protection, though.

"Just take the loss and run! It's just you now and you'll die if you keep fighting!" Darius tried to bring some kind of reasoning into this insanity. The sound of his voice managed to shake something loose in Kenia as she remembered there were others here with her. Others she needed to protect, to get out of the city. Some of the madness left her and she was thinking a bit more clear, however she couldn't just let Jack go.

"I can't just let him go and run. If I do that then we're all in trouble. Do you really think he'll let us go? I've already lost a family member and loved one here, I won't lose new allies and friends." As she spoke she searched a couple of the bodies near her until she found a couple more daggers. She also discarded her shoes, feeling much more stable and allowed her to move more silently. Then she moved, making next to no noise as she circled around where she'd last seen Jack. As she did this she sent an illusion of herself running towards where she assumed he was and silently waited.

Jack jumped into the air allowing who he thought was Kenia to run under him. He quickly realized something was off when it continued on a straight path. "Ah... Well interesting, a fake." He said, using the wind to keep himself in the air. "A-A-A-AN UNFAIR FIGHT! I BLOODY WILL RUIN YOU ALL!!!" Jack screamed as his eyes began to glow a pure white. He stretched himself out and the clouds in the area began to spin faster and faster as wind speeds increased. "I-I-I AM THE GOD DAMN WIND!!!" He screamed louder while losing himself in the overwhelming magic flowing through his body. The hurricane Jack started now beginning to shatter the glass of buildings and threw debris everywhere. Jack, now the source of immense power stood stationary floating in the air as all the magic he could release flowed out of him. This was the true potential of human power on display as Jack lost control of himself, unable to move from his spot.

Vaeril looked at Kenia, "He is not going to let anyone go; be careful and prepare yourselves." He called out. Vaeril grabbed onto a solid object, bracing himself. Seeing Jack lose control of himself reminded him of past situations where others had lost themselves. Though wind magic was bad, he had seen worse from fire and earth users. "Grab onto something if the wind becomes too strong!" He yelled out to everyone now. The wind was making everything harder to hear. He watched as Jack lost himself, now stationary floating in the air. "WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING AND FAST!" Vaeril yelled as loud as he could, hoping someone would hear him over the sounds of debris hitting things and glass shattering.

Bowyn gave off the hint of a grin as a heavy fog rolled in, the added moisture in the air was exactly the sort of boost he could use. As Kenia sped off into the thick fog he moved near Darius and Vaeril, pulling the fog away from Jack and forming it into a dome-like shield of ice around them just as the wind picked up. It took most of his focus to keep the ice from shattering as debris from the quickly forming hurricane pounded against it. Bowyn knew that for the sake of closure, Kenia had to be the one who ended Jack, and helping protect the others while she did so would allow her to maintain a singular focus. From both the rain and the water Darius had used to shield against Jack’s slashes, Bowyn sent a handful of large spikes towards Jack. Spikes made of solid ice propelled up from the ground in his vicinity. He had no way to fully control the accuracy of the spikes with the intensity of the hurricane, but managed to keep them away from Kenia who Bowyn could see more clearly than he could Jack. Bowyn’s moments of split focus on creating the spikes and holding up the ice shield were enough for bits of debris to shatter through. He hoped he’d done enough to at least give Kenia a distraction to finish off Jack because he knew he wouldn’t be able to hold the shield much longer. At least not without some help.

The moisture that had been frozen and pulled from the fog, suddenly began gathering around the ice dome. Darius was raising both his hands up with a look of determination.

"Just worry about keeping the dome cold. I'll gather the moisture from the fog." Darius felt he could at least do something like this. It was just like how he had pulled together the residual steam from his shower to form spheres of water. This was just on a larger scale. The water would gather and then freeze on contact with the dome, repairing and fortifying it from the flying debris.

”Oh hush you! I’m already working on it!” Kenia yelled at Vaeril as she formed a protective barrier around herself, trying to lessen the push of the wind and block from debris. She was glad to see both Bowyn and Darius working together to protect the small group from the destruction. Then she saw the ice spears flying towards Jack and grinned as she now knew her plan. Swiftly she sent another light chain at Jack, this time with a spear-like end to it, and impaled it right through his chest. Then, with as much strength she could muster, she yanked him hard down toward the incoming ice spikes, impaling him on a few of those as well. He hit the ground hard, impaling him even further. The wind storm began to die down and she moved towards the pin cushion now on the ground. She watched the life quickly fading from Jack’s eyes and just smirked at him.

”How was that for a finale?” She asked as she stepped on the light spear in his chest and slowly drove it in further until all signs of life were gone. She then continued on, stepping on his chest and then over his body as she walked towards the inn without a word, disappearing inside.

When Kenia finally emerged again from the inn she carried four bags, three of which had the clinking sound of glass bottles in them. She also dragged behind her a slightly panicking demi-human man who’s panic only seemed to worsen as he saw the dead bodies. ”Enough sniveling, you worthless rat. Now it’s obvious someone informed the guards of potential humans here and I’m willing to bet it was you. Am I wrong?” She pointed a dagger at his throat and he immediately began nodding. ”I thought so. While every fiber of my being wants to kill you, I’m going to resist. Instead you have a task. You will take this boy's body, head and all, to the Sun Elf Village. There you will find a tomb for the Biralei family. You will lay his body to rest there with them. I will be checking if this is done and if it isn’t I will hunt you and your family down. You can run, but I’m very good at finding people. Do I make myself clear?” The man nodded frantically and she nodded in satisfaction as she let him go and then turned back to the group.

”Anyone care to help me carry some alcohol?” She asked as she held up the three bags.

Vaeril listened to her threaten the demi-human with secret amusement. He remained expressionless on the outside and turned to Kenia with a nod, "Alright. Good job taking care of that human, I'll help carry some." He moved over to take one bag, leaving one hand open for combat if need be and waited for the others to make their moves, not interested in sticking out or asserting himself as a leader.

"I'll need a drink, so I'll carry a bag." Darius seemed irritated as he walked over to retrieve a bag from. Kenia. "This is all just fucked up. Shit like this is why the DROMs were a mistake." Darius grumbled more so to himself. He did not plan to voice his feelings with this group, but he couldn't help it.

Bowyn relaxed and with a sigh of relief he allowed the dome shaped shield of ice to fall, the ice turning into snow as it fell around them. While Kenia went into the inn he enjoyed the few moments of silence, the sight of snow, and the slightest chill that remained in the air. He let out a sharp whistle and seconds later Boreas flew through one of the shattered windows of the inn. It wasn’t a long wait, Kenia soon returned from the inn carrying a few bags and dragging a demi-human along with her. He remained silent as she made burial arrangements for Rei, and it wasn’t long before it was time to go. Bowyn grabbed the final bag of alcohol and glanced towards Darius and nodded with agreement. “A mistake, well I guess that’s the nice way to put it.” Bowyn said softly, far too tired to elaborate any further.

The various displays of magical powers made the moth fairy curious, these magics were far from the usual kind he was used to. To bend the very wind and water to one's bidding was certainly a powerful tool. And as far as he knew, the only ones to be able to do such a feat were humans. And in some very rare cases special kinds of demons.

Why had there been two humans fighting each other? What possible gain were there in eliminating one of their own? Judging by the dead dark elves, he assumed the lone human were in fact an ally of Aklenroth. And those which served the lich king, human or not would have to be subdued or destroyed. The aeromancer had ultimately seemingly lost control, as it had summoned a fierce and chaotic whirlwind of death.

Upon having first seen it, the moth fairy had closed his wings and then used his chlorokinesis to attach himself to the building he was located upon, which was a distance away from the gathering. He also gathered a few thicker vines to provide him cover from any stray attack from the front. Then as the wind had finally settled and the human was now dead, Elthrael had spent some moment to summarize what had just occurred.

'God of the wind hm? How ironic that the air that you should have focused on was the one you were breathing. But now you've ran out of both place and time, what a shame indeed. But this is the fate of all those who crave the power and lack the control. This is your fate too, Elsea. Power which you cannot control is not power at all but a weakness which shall destroy you and judging by the mess... possibly those around you.’ Elthrael mused to himself as he loosened his grip of his vines and took a soft breath himself.

Whilst the human male had not impressed him, despite the unrelenting barrage of wind magic and the fierce force behind it, he had been impressed by the teamwork done by at least three of the four he was fighting. The moth fairy began to softly hover towards the group, landing on the roof of a building far closer to them. Then he began to softly clap his hands as he took a few steps even closer along the roof of the building.

"Well done, well done. Such fine display of unity, amidst such forceful winds. It seems your foe didn't quite realize he would be the one to... " Elthrael took a slight moment to chuckle at what he was about to say. "...wind up dead. Ahh, and we meet again, oh fairy of the cold lands." The moth fairy said in a softer tone of voice as he set his eyes on Bowyn and his bird. "But where are the two missuses? I take it the dance didn't quite spin the way they thought it would, but what could one expect from entering such an obvious trap." He shook his head softly, his mouth showing a soft upturn at the corners of his lips.

"Yet you have found new company far more interesting, an elven woman with the chain of command in brimming light, a human male aquamancer who seems to be able to control his gift and..." He said in a ponderous manner, looking over to Vaeril. "...someone to carry the baggage. Or in this case... wine by the looks of it. Surely there's more pressing matter than drowning oneself in such sweet poisons." He chuckled softly, looking between those gathered.

"Such as finding the girl... Risa Millinia and those which follow her in this uprising, whilst it certainly be a bold move of hers to declare so openly her resistance to the undead king. Those who are guided overly much by emotions tend to fall because of them, as was the case of this here man... and the other male human which once were in her company but perished. On the other hand, it is a lack of emotion in the king which has left people to join this... rebellion. For he has forgotten whom he is and what he sought for. To not understand others is one thing, to not understand yourself is another." He softly mused, looking between the four and a half gathered.

"But I am certain you have places to go, people to see. Allow me to join you on this little venture won't you? In return I shall offer the human here what others have casted away. Advice that is." Elthrael softly chuckled as he flew over to land atop a wooden post.

"Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Elthrael." He said with his corner teeth visible as he made a slight bow from where he stood. Kenia just listened to him go on and on about things that didn’t seem too important at the moment as she slung her bag over her shoulder. Where this newcomer had appeared from she wasn’t sure, but she’d keep an eye on him. For now, however, they needed to get out.

”Follow if you wish, fairy, I don’t care. If you prove to be a problem I’ll just deal with you later.” Kenia said with a sigh as she fastned Rei’s necklace around her neck. She then motioned all to follow as she led them out of the city through the path she’d mapped out earlier that day and into the forest where they could hopefully find a place to rest for the night.

Marius had awoken early as his thirst for blood was beginning to really bother him. While he enjoyed indulging Millie by eating the meals she prepared, they did nothing to truly sustain him. Human food hadn’t been all that satisfying since a long time ago, but it was fun to try and enjoy at times. Now, however, he needed to find the one thing that would satisfy him and kept him from draining Millie of all her blood.

It hadn’t been hard to locate a victim as he walked past the clubs of the town. There was a young woman who was forcibly being kicked out of Trance, obviously still drunk as a skunk. There were some nice enough to ask her if she had someone coming to pick her up or if she needed a cab and Marius grinned at the perfect opportunity. ”There you are! Seriously you spent another night here? Seems like you didn’t get too lucky either. Come on let’s get you home.” He moved over and quickly put his arm around her to steady her. She looked up at him in confusion, but before she could say anything he thanked the bouncers and started leading her off.

”You say I didn’t get lucky, but it sure looks like I did.” The girl said with a giggle, her words slurring as she looked up at Marius.

”Is that so?” He responded while giving her a smirk, but continued on. The girl went about rambling about this and that, occasionally telling him how hot he was and Marius just let her as he led her off into the woods. She didn’t even seem to notice they were going into the woods until they were quite far away from any civilization. She began to look around, the slightest hint of worry now crossing her face.

”Hey wait a second, where are we?”

”A special place. I thought you wanted to have some fun?” Somehow these words wiped away that worry and she was now grinning seductively at him as she moved in and kissed him. He allowed it for a second before moving down to her neck, planting kisses there which caused her to lean her head back and moan. The moan soon turned into a shocked gasp, however, as Marius sunk his fangs deep into her neck and began to feed. She tried to struggle, but the shock mixed with the drunkenness proved the struggle to be futile. Soon she went completely limp in his arms and he finished sucking every last bit of blood from her. As he went to drop her, however, he heard the snap of a twig from behind him. He sniffed the air for a second and there he smelt another human. He smirked as he realized his luck.

A gunshot went off, but Marius was gone from the spot he once stood. From the trees behind where Marius stood earlier stalked a young man, geared up as an obvious vampire hunter. From up in a tree the vampire watched his prey with amusement. The man seemed young and perhaps rather new to this. He wasn’t sure if he was a part of Operation Humanity or not, but either way he seemed like he’d be fun to toy with. ”Now tell me that isn’t the best you’ve got.” He said and he watched the man jump as he spun around and looked up at Marius before firing off another shot. Once again Marius was gone and now stood behind the man. ”Try again.” He said into his ear causing the guy to spin around. Before he could fire again, however, Marius disarmed him. ”Too slow!” He pulled the magazine out of the gun and threw it one way before throwing the gun the opposite direction.

”My turn.” He pinned the man up against a tree by his neck, all the while the man struggled. Then he tore open the man’s shirt before Marius plunged his own hand through his chest. The agonizing scream that escaped the hunter was glorious and Marius felt around for a second till he found the beating organ hidden in his chest cavity. He took hold of it and slowly began to squeeze as he also pulled the heart out of the man’s chest. He took much joy in crushing the heart and watching life leave the eyes of the hunter. He then dropped him to the ground and placed the heart in the man’s hand. He figured the man had some kind of tracker on him and whoever he worked for would eventually find him and the girl Marius had feasted on. He looked at both corpses with satisfaction before heading towards a stream and washing the blood off of himself.

After his escapade in the forest, Marius was now strolling through the park. He was glancing at his phone and saw that Millie had texted him at some point. He read her text and grinned a bit to himself as he finally responded to her.

Hello darling. Breakfast was quite the adventure, but very enjoyable. Have a wonderful breakfast yourself and I’m proud of you. Maybe we should go out for dinner tonight, what do you think?

He hit send on the text and as he did he heard music coming from somewhere in the park. How interesting, perhaps he’d check it out. He took a drag from his cigarette as he slowly walked over to find a young woman playing her violin. She looked oddly familiar and it took him a minute to place her. Finally he remembered, having only seen her a couple times in his life when he was at the Sinclair Foundation compound visiting Catherine. He also glanced over at the dark haired woman who was watching Helene as well, finding her quite interesting as well as she definitely wasn’t human. He could smell the similar scent coming off of her and he wondered just how many vampires were out and about today.

He waited for Helene’s song to finish before he dropped his cigarette butt on the ground and put it out while clapping. ”Brava, Little Princess. Your mother would be so proud.” He said with a sly grin at the woman. ”Speaking of which, is your mother around? I would love to have a chat with her.” He asked, not caring if the other dark haired woman overheard the conversation.

The rest of the morning was hell for Maeve as she had to deal with EGPD to report the breakin at her shop and the dead person in there. She’d sent poor Hazel home as soon as the police told her she could and also informed her to take the rest of the week off as the girl was pretty traumatized. In fact, Maeve just decided to text all her employees to let them know that the shop would be closed for the week, however she still told them they’d all get paid as if they had worked that week. She wasn’t sure how long it was going to take the police to do their investigation, but she was willing to bet it would be at least a couple of days before someone stepped in and swept it all under the rug.

Finally late morning came around and they told her she was allowed to head home, which she was grateful for as she was in need of a bath and some good whiskey. As she was getting into her car she took notice of a VHS tape that was sitting in her passenger seat. She picked it up curiously, but then she saw her name written on it and she immediately knew who it was from. ”Damn Alexander, are you really that old that you don’t know how to use a phone to record things?” She mumbled to herself with a shake of her head as she realized she was now going to have to find a tape player. This thought seemed to just irritate her more because it meant she’d likely have to go to Goodwill and it always smells like mothballs and death in there. Such cruel and unusual punishment Alexander was putting her through.

Finally by the afternoon she’d found one of those small tv tape player combos and made it home. In the process she also informed some of her higher ups in her coven of what had happened and asked them to keep their eyes open for anything unusual. Now she was home and as she entered the large house she was greeted by her familiar, Todd, and one of several coven members that lived on the property with her. ”Ah Oskar, would you be a doll and retrieve the tv out of my car and set it up somewhere in my bathroom where I can watch it while taking a bath?” She asked him as she took her shoes off.

”Sure thing Maeve. Want me to start the bath too?” He asked as he moved to head outside.

”Only if you want to Oskar. You really are a doll.” She said with a grin as she moved and kissed his cheek before heading for the kitchen. Todd followed her and seemed to give her a look as she began pouring herself some whiskey in a glass. ”Oh don’t look at me that way, it’s been a long day already and I deserve this.” How a fox could look so judgemental was beyond Maeve, but Todd seemed to pull it off well.

Once she had what she wanted she headed to her bathroom and was impressed to see that Oskar had even started her a bubble bath along with a fire. She’d definitely have to thank him later for going the extra mile. She put the tape into the tv and settled into the bath. She sipped on her whiskey as she watched Alexander come on screen, beginning things by apologizing for her shop. She chuckled at the mention of her body count and shook her head. In fact, the entire video was entertaining to her. As in cut off she sighed and began contemplating what her next move would be.

As she finished off her whiskey her phone vibrated and she grabbed it. The message that greeted her was quite intriguing. It appeared to be at Alexei’s bar and there in the photo was Alexander playing billiards with a young woman. So he really did decide on learning billiards as his new hobby. She thanked her spy before she decided to send Alexander a video of her own. Using her magic she held her phone aloft as she hit the record button, still sitting there in the bath. ”My dearest Alexander, perhaps I should begin with thanking you for the apology. Perhaps I did go a bit overboard this morning, but you can only imagine the anger I felt walking into my shop wrecked and having Shay written on things after I specifically told you last night I knew of no Shay. Plus I’ve had to close the shop down for the week as investigations happen and put good employees out of a job until I can open again. It’s just all very frustrating.” She began with an annoyed sigh. Todd came over and dropped a towel on the ledge beside her which she proceeded to grab while standing up. She kept the video angled so nothing could really be seen as she wrapped the towel around herself.

”I must say that is a neat little trick you’ve got, quite useful I’m sure. Have you ever wondered, though, why I’ve never made much of a fuss over you taking some witches?” She began again as she made her way into a very large closet filled with clothing. She kept the phone floating and angled as she proceeded to put on her undergarments. ”The first man, Daniel Stout, he was accused two years ago of using dark magic after his wife mysteriously died and the cause of death was deemed to be the use of dark magic.” She now set the phone down on one of the shelves, getting tired of using her magic to hold it in the air. While it was a simple trick it still used some concentration and she’d rather focus on picking out an outfit now. The phone was still recording as she walked around the room, looking through her clothes and trying to decide on what to wear.

”The next girl, Renee White, was caught trying to cast a love spell on one of my right hand men. Turns out she was trying to get close to me in order to try and enslave me with one of her dark spells.” She pulled out a short red dress and a black polkadot dress, holding both of them up against herself while looking in the mirror. ”I could give you the names of every person you showed me and what they’d been accused of.” She settled on the red dress and slipped it on before turning back around. ”Well other than that last man. Him I didn’t know. Quite an interesting fellow though if I do say so myself.” She said as she pondered it for a minute before walking back over to the phone and picking it up.

”But you see there is a purpose as to why I didn’t stop you from taking them. Thank you for sufficiently punishing them for their crimes. I do very much appreciate it.” She smirked at the camera a bit and winked.

”Congratulations, by the way, on finding someone to teach you billiards. She really is a pretty little thing. I hope you don’t plan on doing any harm to her.” She moved over to a vanity and sat down as she pulled out some red lipstick and began applying it.

”Oh and one more thing, you should really learn how to use a phone, love. It’s no longer the dark ages, it’s way easier to send a video this way. I had to go out to stupid Goodwill and buy a VHS player, so thank you for that. Now I’ll always have that little momentum to remember you by. Tootles.” She blew a kiss at the camera before ending the recording and then sending the video to him. Now she had to decide what she wanted to do for the rest of the day. Perhaps she’d go out to dinner this evening and enjoy some live music.

Kenia was fairly positive her eyes were still red from the tears she’d shed minutes ago, but she tried to ignore that fact. She couldn’t dwell on the worry she had for the safety of both Malachi and Cora even though she so desperately wanted to get them out of there. It seemed she had stumbled upon another human and perhaps her priority now should be getting him to safety. She could only pray her little family would be safe and she’d see them there. Before she could reply to Darius, however, the winter fairy spoke and he obviously wasn’t a fan of her kind. ”Touchy, touchy. Obviously some of my kind haven’t been so kind to you in the past. I will say, though, that some of us light elves aren’t pretentious assholes that think they’re better than the other races like Governor Shit-for-Brains. And you can call me Kenia.” She said as she referred to Terneus, but then also introduced herself and risking using her real name. She then looked to Darius.

”He does have a point, though. It may not be best going about announcing that you're human to people you just met. Some people in this world would rather have your head to give to Aklenroth than help you. Luckily I don’t think either the fairy here or I wish to do that.” She cautioned him, backing up Bowyn. ”As for the demoness in there she was still being pursued, however one of my companions was attempting to assist her from what I saw as I was being shoved out the doors. Even that bitch of a demi-human that was just here tried helping her surprisingly. Not sure why, but I suppose the demoness has a good chance of getting out. My friend will make sure she gets out too, I can guarantee that. In fact, he will stick around to make sure as many get out as possible.” Calling Malachi her friend felt strange as she felt they were much more than that now, but what they were she wasn’t sure. Then there was the fact that she just said Malachi would stick around to make sure he got as many out as he could and that thought actually made her sick to her stomach. Stop dwelling on it Kenia. Instead focus on saving who you can. Make Malachi proud. She thought to herself angrily.

That’s when another joined their small group and this one Kenia was immediately wary of. She recognized him as the host of the ball and he seemed to be limping. His tone sounded worried, however she was all too familiar with putting on a very convincing act. She was capable of it herself, but unfortunately now was not the time to question him on it. She heard Ahzmorath’s booming voice and knew now was the time to flee. If the light elf followed that would be fine, she could question him later and if she thought he was a threat she’d have no problem dispatching him in his sleep. They had a journey ahead of them and there would be plenty of time for that. ”He’s right, we need to leave now. I can get us out of this city and to a safe place, but I do have to make a stop first. There is another of your kind, Darius, that I need to retrieve first. After I get him from the inn we were staying at then I’ll get us all out of here. You just have to follow me.” She explained and then began to swiftly exit the premises, leaving it on them to decide to follow her or not.

Elsea looked up at the large cat man as he helped her up and gave her an appreciative smile. He spoke words of honor to her that, as simple as they seemed, touched her heart. This was why she chose to stay in Avalia, for people like him that didn’t look at her like she was a monster. ”And I am honored to fight for you and your people.” She said in response before she noticed another warrior woman approaching the group and dispatching three people who seemed to have malicious intent. That wasn’t something she’d expected to happen, but at the same time it didn’t entirely surprise her. People would do many crazy things out of fear.

Cora approached them then and Elsea could see the exhaustion. She quickly moved to help her friend stay upright. ”I’m quite alright, my friend, but you seem like you’ve been through it. Have you been using your magic? I caution you to save any you have left if you have been using it. We do still have to get out of the city.” She cautioned her and then noticed her eyeing Cade. ”Don’t worry, he seems to be a friend.” She said softly to Cora with a smile.

”Unfortunately we don’t have magic to level the building exactly, but burn it down maybe? It would take a lot for us though and unfortunately I don’t think it would do too much good. I fear Aklenroth will just unleash another horror if we defeat this one.” She explained solemnly as she began to guide Cora towards an exit. She glanced back to see if Cade would follow or not, the woman binding the demon with chains had given them a chance and it wasn’t fair for them to waste it.

Meanwhile Torvi hadn’t gone too far from the group, instead having turned around to try and relocate her friends. She watched just in time for Bowyn to go chasing after the winged woman. While she feared he may be getting himself into trouble, at least he had gotten out. Now she scanned the room for Belle, but she’d hoped that Elle would have made her leave. The elven woman seemed to be very protective of Belle which Torvi wasn’t exactly sure why, but she was thankful for. She wasn’t seeing her friend, however, and decided to just hope she’d gotten out. Others had seemed to start attacking the other demon that had been chasing a white demon around as well.

She overheard Ayita telling the cat man to get the two other humans out and she’d stay and help get others out. At this point Torvi knew they all needed to get out, but she could try to help the woman get others out in the process. As she turned to offer to help however she could, there was a demi-human man who appeared to be confronting Ayita and Ayita replied. She listened to the words the other warrior woman spoke and agreed to a point with what she said. ”But even warriors know when to retreat and regroup.” Torvi spoke as she moved up beside Ayita and then looked between her and Kuroi. ”This fight against this demon is not one we want right now. Most are almost out and safe, the ones still fighting we can only hope will be wise and retreat as well. You speak of fighting for the future of your people and I’m assuming those people are not here yet by how you speak. So how are you to bring them here if you are dead?” The ball was in fact looking a lot more empty, though there were a fair amount still there trying to fight. Some had begun to retreat as well, however.

”I would be honored in helping you in your quest to provide a peaceful land for your people, but that requires us leaving now. I know of a place where other warriors are going to regroup, we should meet them there.” Torvi didn’t know the woman, but if helping her got her to leave then she would. All she wanted was to at least save another before getting out.

”I advise you leave as well, this is a battle to be fought another day.” She told Kuroi before scanning for the best exit. There seemed to be an exit that was more clear than the others over near what appeared to be a dark elf that was attempting to fight the demon as well. ”That looks like our best way out.” She said to her small group as she pointed to the exit near Baraian.
