Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

roleplayerguild.com/posts/5… If anyone's up for fighting some kaiju, why not try out my new RP, Godzilla: YATAGARUSU?

  • Name: Chiba Chinatsu
  • Age: 16
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: "Of course you are." Chinatsu is short, at under five feet in height.
  • Personality: Chinatsu is a serious-seeming girl who is also rather down to earth and practical. However, in spite of this attitude, she also has quite an aggressive temper and a deeply sarcastic side she is liable to unleash rather freely. However, Chinatsu is also very focused on her goals, and frequently channels her temper into combat. At the same time, when she becomes angry enough she may begin to misjudge what she is doing and make mistakes. Regardless, she is a rather snarky girl even when not in a bad mood, deadpan sarcasm or biting insults being her preferred way to display mild irritation. Chinatsu dislikes stupidity, and she will loudly voice her discontent with anyone behaving stupid. Chinatsu is confident in her abilities as a fighter, but lacks self-confidence in a number of other areas, such as her lack of physical maturity, or her height. She is also very easy to make flustered or embarrassed, in spite of her serious and confident behavior. At the moment, her aggression is largely directed towards ascending the ranks and taking on the Student Council President herself.
  • Backstory: Chinatsu is hardly very forthcoming about her history, but it seems she was raised by a relatively average family until her father died in a sudden accident. It wasn't long after that her mother, too, fell ill and died. Without parents, raised by a family friend, Chinatsu ended up focusing on the use of AE Devices, particularly Ryu, the sword owned by her family. This singlemindedness lead to her being referred to as the Bloody Assassin during Junior High. After spending only a short time at a different High School, she suddenly left and transferred to Shiroyama. On her first day, she declared her intent to defeat the Unbreakable Student Council president, something no student has ever achieved. Her fellow students thought this was ridiculous, as she was a Rank 0 regardless of her reputation in the past. Shiroyama's standards are quite high, after all. After being harassed by a Rank 10 student during lunch, Chinatsu defeated him almost effortlessly, sending her immediately up to Rank 5.
  • Inherent Engine Skill: Flash Step - Chinatsu can perform what is seemingly teleportation, but is in fact a sudden acceleration to ridiculous speed, for a split second. This causes her to seemingly disappear and reappear to avoid attacks or suddenly close a small gap between herself and a target.
  • Active Engine Device: Ryumaru - A glowing, red, straight-bladed katana referred to as "Ryumaru" by Chinatsu, this AE Device crackles with red energy when unsheathed. Naturally, it is capable of a basic, straightforward function. That is, cutting things. It's rather effective at doing so, slicing through mundane materials easily. It is normally carried sheathed on Chinatsu's lower back. It has a few different functions.
    • Shoheki Taberu: An attack designed to destroy mana core-based defenses, Shoheki Taberu surrounds Ryu with energy and forces itself into the outer layer of shielding. Then, it releases this energy, in a move designed to dissolve the barrier from the inside out be directing its own energy through the barrier's structure. However, Shoheki Taberu has no use against physical barriers, or any IE skill that directly hardens the body. In addition, the attack must hit point first.
    • Fukusū no hōkō Jikkō Kōgeki: An attack that causes Ryumaru's blade to alter its course in an impossible way, striking at two different angles on a single target simultaneously. This ability is not impossible to block, but it does certainly offer a difficult attack for an opponent to deal with.
    • Ansatsu Mode: A "kill or be killed" last ditch effort attack, Ansatsu Mode transforms Ryumaru into a large, even sharper form, the blade splitting and producing red energy to length and enhance its cutting capabilities. This form begins to draw off of Chinatsu's vitality, quickly draining her of all her remaining ability remain on her feet, but is incredibly dangerous to her opponent and very capable of winning a battle in a single blow, if she can land it before collapsing.
  • Skills: Chinatsu is an awful, awful cook, to the point of her cooking being considered an "alternate weapon". Aside from that, she is extremely fast and light on her feet, a capable and speedy girl who can even briefly run along walls.
  • Rank: 5th
  • Club: Chinatsu has no allegiance to any clubs for now.
@Cerces22: Oh sorry, she's accepted. ^^; My fault for being unclear.
@OwO: Accepted.

@RoflsMazoy: I'm going to have to be honest and say while there's a pretty broad range of things I'll accept for this RP, this falls outside of that. ^^;
I'll probably end up posting tomorrow!
@Raineh Daze: Accepted.
@Cerces22: I'll admit it's just my personal feelings here. Atsuko tends to be pretty harsh towards losing clubs in an effort to make them try and prove her wrong, and given how that would feel to me writing it I just wanted to bring it up. Thank you for being accommodating. ^^; I was worried I'm come across badly or something, which especially given I'm part of the LGBT community I really wanted to avoid. If it helps, you could note she tries to be encouraging to others facing similar struggles as she did or something.
@Cerces22: While the character herself seems fine, as a lesbian I kind of feel um...

I guess a good way to put it is I would feel kind of wrong placing a club just for representation for LGBT students in a context where if they lose anything they could be openly degraded by Atsuko, but at the same time it wouldn't make sense in-universe for them to be exempt from that.
Youmu considered the situation. They had to clear this place of every terrible thing, but where were they supposed to start? For a few moments she was silent.

Then, she raised the journal in her hands, looking it over. If anything, the information recorded by the man who had once owned this property would most certainly provide some sort of hint as to what they were meant to be doing here, wouldn't it?

"I wonder if there's any clues as to where to start in this journal?" she asked, flipping the book open as she spoke. Many of the pages were damaged, but there was enough as to be legible, foreign letters seemed to shift into kanji before her eyes. And so she began to read.

It began simply enough. But then... but then...

The descent began. With each page a new story of horror seemed to materialize. Not on part of the mysterious creatures that seemed to inhabit the land. Though those were terrible too, the true monster did not seem to be represented there at all.

A little girl thrown into the sea to satisfy terrible creatures. An entire ship's crew killed. Villagers used as food for unknown abominations. As Youmu turned the pages, she could feel something hot rising inside of her chest. Swelling, growing, burning through her.

It was anger. With every page turned, she was growing more and more furious. This man, the previous owner of these lands...

"... He was a monster," the small half-phantom practically spat, shaking slightly, "The man who owned this place was a monster. If he still lives, I'll kill him myself."

How could someone do this? How could someone behave so horribly? So ruthlessly and without consideration to the lives of others? Even the youkai of Gensokyo no longer ate the flesh of humans, and even that was something they had done for survival. This was just wanton, reasonless killing and torture for... what? Money? Power? It was disgusting. It was absolutely vile. How could someone do something like this?

"... There's... monsters infesting this place all over," Youmu said, finally, "For the sake of anyone left... they have to be exterminated."

The moment that Hibiki landed in front of them, the mob suddenly came to a surprised halt, a few stumbling backwards. What could be seen of their faces was contorted in a look of surprise and shock.

The man at the head of the group, one arm far too long in comparison to the other, slowly stepped forward, raising his torch. He wore a tall hat and a ragged suit of some kind, a hatchet dragging on the ground in his other hand.

"... Foul beast!" he cried, suddenly, raising his weapon, "Words don't mean nothin'! Kill the beast! Spill its blood!"

Almost immediately the entire mob charged. Each of them raised their weapons, some snarling like inhuman creatures as they tried to converge on Hibiki.

Arinne raised an eyebrow.

One of her servants seemed to think he had the right to behave arrogantly when simply parroting the most basic facts about the killings without applying any critical thinking. That he had the permission to abuse his capabilities as a mage, to use a spell to force his voice into every one of their ears as if he was the one in charge. How bold of him.

Indeed, how bold of him to directly question her motivation like that.

The small blonde leaned back.

"Why indeed?" was her only comment, with a shrug. It wasn't as if she had any particular interest in concealing her motives, and anyone who could put two and two together could likely guess at it, but the way the boy had spoken had immediately rubbed her the wrong way. And so she had every intention of rubbing him the wrong way right back. "I could question your motivation for repeating the most basic facts about the killings like they were profound new information, couldn't I?"

With a smirk, she leaned forward.

"Or perhaps I could question how someone could possess such a lack of confidence in themselves that they need to cover it with abuse of their magical capabilities? My my, making quite a first impression, aren't you, Mister Arden Grey? But is it really the one you wanted?"

Arinne cocked her head to one side.

"If I wanted the most basic summary of events, I could read a newspaper. I certainly hope a human being could provide me with more then that," she concluded, picking up a cup of tea and taking a sip as she did. Ah, perfect... though she noticed one of her other servants, Lady Dalraan, had chosen to begin eating the biscuits she'd ordered with some irritation.

"... Now, where ever does it say that these are for everyone?" she commented. To be truthful, she didn't necessarily believe that they were wrong in thinking anyone could have some of the biscuits and tea to themselves, but it would be more entertaining if she lead them to believe they did not. Besides, she had ordered them for Saturday and herself in the first place, hadn't she? "Isn't that rather rude?"

But now...

Her bodyguard had at least been able to supply information that seemed significant, and put some thought into his words. Yes, indeed, this was the precise conclusions she had come to herself. However...

"Satanists?" Arinne asked, unable to hold back her giggles. She leaned back in her seat, small feet kicking back and fourth as she placed one hand to her mouth, her giggles growing into full-blown laughter, "Really? Ah, that's too much! Yes, yes, surely, the perpetrator is actually a cult of insidious cloaked figures worshipping the devil!"

Could the mundane law enforcement be blamed for jumping to an outlandish conclusion for an outlandish ca-oh yes they absolutely could. Satanists was a completely absurd stab in the dark!

Arinne wiped a tear from her eye.

"Aaah... but you're right, Mister St. James," she said, recovering from her mirth, "The killer must have been extremely precise in order to claim the organs and only the organs. Displacement sorcery and medical knowledge? Hmmm..."

A look of deep thought crossed her face. But it was the knight Dame Blackmore who had provided the most interesting response.

"Ah, yes! That's what I was looking for," she declared, clapping her hands together with a smile, "Indeed, internal organs are quite useful for a variety of spells. Alchemy, haruspicy, and theurgy just to name a few. The internal organs of both humans and animals can be used as potent magical ingredients. Each organ can be utilized as a representation of a celestial body positioned in our solar system. The heart is the sun, the brain is the moon, the lungs are Mercury, and so on and so forth."

She waved her hand. Any well-educated mage would understand the association between parts of the body and the heavens, however. No, what was far more interesting to her was Grain's reaction to bringing up the possibility of the victims' virginity... now that was quite amusing.

Arinne's smirk returned.

Ah, but this was the critical thinking she had hoped to see from all her servants... though some had yet to respond. Perhaps they could show they were capable of coming to their own conclusions?

"So, if they killer is, possibly, murdering these girls for magical ingredients..." Arinne continued, "Why would they pursue such violent options? Certainly there are easier ways to obtain a corpse, are there not? Even if they do require virgins. It may take some time, but to commit murders on the street in such a disruptive fashion..."
