Current Noble Arms is now either four years old, or three years and eleven months. The third thread had lasted for more than one year.

My Roleplay, Noble Arms: The ASEAN War, will reach its 4th year in June or July. It's been a long journey.

Despite its massive flaws, my RP, Noble Arms: The ASEAN War, is still one of the longest ongoing RPs in RPGuild - It turns 4 years old in July and the current thread itself is more than a year old.

I’m one of the subscribers, btw. Lol.

I believe we’ve talked with each other before on my intro post. Think I’d be ready to join shortly, just need to work on the character sheet.

Btw, is there a limit on how many characters we can have in the RP? Also, how many times we should post per week?

Thanks!

No limit; have as many characters as you can support. Once or twice every posting round; sadly, the pace has slowed so it's hard to get a full round in one week.

But I want to get things done faster, so once per week if you can.

Also, want to join the Discord Server for OOC Discussion?
Posting here to save this RP in my records.

There's also a 'Subscribe' button at the top?
Extremely sorry about that lttle post in the ic my Nephew had my phone for a bit and i guess he read the first bits of the ooc so just Ignore the post i guess.

You're forgiven. Kids are being kids.
@AndyC, considering it.

Edit: Hmm, would a father-and-son duo work out?
The RP as a whole is three years old.

Thank you guys for helping make this a success.
@Rin, well, we do discussion in the OOC Discussion Discord; the OOC is best used for posting WIP CSes or ideas too large for a Discord message, as well as advertising for people to come. Also approving CSes and also giving detailed criticism on them.

I. Intro

Human Space has collapsed.

It has been 52 years since The Anarchy, where a combination of internal conflict, AI rebellion, and economic collapse led to the destruction of the rough framework of trade, commerce, and the free flow of information that had held Humanity's settlements and colonies together. Earth is divided, the Colonies are warring with each other, Mars is aloof, Venus' traders and executives want to profit, and Jupiter's kaleidoscope of squabbling factions wants to rule everything with an iron fist. Billions have already died, and 'only' millions dying yearly counts as progress towards peace.

Expectations have sunk that low.

Factions bicker over the remains.

Earth, the homeworld of Humanity, remains the source of legitimacy for those seeking to unite the species under one banner. For the most part, Earth and its people avoided the abuses of tyranny and control that were expected in other histories. They gave independence to the Colonies when requested, allotted Mars representation, gave Venus' entrpreneurs the chance to make money on equal terms, and as a reward, was spared the worst excesses of the Anarchy - Nothing was dropped on it from orbit, its academics and diplomats are respected, and its nations are careful not to raze each others' cities and thus destroy the prizes within.

But that just makes it a treasure to be seized, if not by a unifier, then from outside.

You can rise high.

In this anarchy, there is opportunity. The low can overthrow the high, the rich can become poor, and the ability to pilot a Mobile Suit, or even one of the legendary Gundams, can allow one to shape the tides of war, the processes of history, and the forces of social change.

You can be anything you want as long as there is room for you to rise. What you cannot be is a God, but below that are many things. Trader, Warlord, or a Lone Adventurer with a salvaged Gundam, you can be who you want to be... Or fail, die, and be forgotten - That can happen too!

TL;DR - This is an Interest Check for my most ambitious RP yet: A Sandbox, pseudo-persistent world game in a world that combines elements from various Gundam settings. And by that, the tech, the ships, and the Gundams are taken from multiple settings that have been Frankensteined to work with one another.

Earth is closest to UC but with less bullshit space magic - No Unicorn Gundams, no Phenexes, and no Angel Halos. Newtypes and Cyber-Newtypes exist but get a nerf, so do not expect to be Amuro or Banagher.

Mars has IBO tech, only Nanolaminate works like it does in those videogames that do cross over Gundams from various settings - It can block even the most powerful UC beams. Also, the original Alaya-Vijyana exists on Mars, so the A-V System does not cause nerve damage or loss of control over the limbs.

Venus has Gundam 00 Tech, minus the Innovators or any technology reliant on them, plus a smattering of IBO Urdr-Hunt tech, including Nanolaminate, as well as some models from Reconguista in G.

Jupiter, or rather, the colonies and moons around it, has Gundam Wing technology, and enough Gundamium to make three dozen Gundams, plus a smattering of UC technology, ships, and models in addition to Neutron Jammers, Neutron Jammer Cancellers, and Neptune Systems from Gundam SEED. Also, Coordinators and Coordinator/Natural Hybrid children.

Oh, right, AI-controlled Mobile Armors like the Hashmal also exist, and they are joined by AI versions of UC-era MAs, such as the Elmeth, as well as AI Gundams, making them even more formidable.

To prevent this RP from turning out like most Sandbox RPs before it, we will have multiple OOC Threads, one for the Earth Sphere, one for Mars, Venus, and the Asteroid Belt, and one for Jupiter, plus (if I can recruit them) a GM for each OOC thread under the watch of the Over-GM, aka me. There will be a 'Master OOC Thread' where all OCs will be archived, same for every major plot development, and which will also act as a 'Bulletin Board' for opportunities to advance your position like bounties, missions, and eventually, when an OC takes over Earth/Mars/Jupiter, a way to coordinate major warfare.

So, your thoughts and interest?

Mission Five - La Naval de Manila, Segunda Vez/Segundo Beses/Second Time

West Philippine Sea Airspace - 12/25/2022, 5:19, UTC+8

Lotus Squadron sliced through the air, each pilot's jet flying like a silvery dart as they cleared the skies, firing lines of death that caused the enemy's cockpits to ignite into blossoms of flame. They knew what Cao Bao could do - reassemble physical objects that had been broken, teleporting them to his side. This could restore the wounded, but not bring the dead back to life; corpses were reconstituted intact and fresh, but were still corpses.

Drones were another matter, especially the newfangled fiber-optic ones made by the Russians and sold to the Communist Chinese. These can be destroyed and reassembled as many times as Cao Bao's energy permitted it, same for the Iranian Shaheed Drones and other, faster, prototype models that, though easily brought down by a dedicated pilot, were still a swarm of metallic pests.

Nevertheless, in three days, the quality of the PLA Air Force and whoever else they got to pilot for them had been reduced; the same planes still flew, but the twists and turns were more basic, the lucky hits fewer, and the overall willingness to engage danger less.

Those three days were enough for Admiral Yi Yeol to move into position to engage the PLA Navy as his own flotilla advanced halfway to Scarborough Shoal; there, in the open waters of the West Philippine Sea, they would fight the decisive engagement of the ASEAN War...

BRP Jose Rizal - 12/28/2022, 5:00, UTC+8

BRP Jose Rizal

Callie could see him, either through Charter or more mundane means (spy drones existed).

Cao Bao was walking the deck of the Guandong Type-004 Nuclear Aircraft Carrier, reconstituting the latest jets brought down by Lotus Squadron particle by particle. It was the first time in those three days that the black-coated, well-muscled, weary-faced officer whose stubble and the cigarette just above it expressed a constant burden of aggravation strode so openly; before that, the jets just reconstituted on the ship's deck, the drones, likewise.

Admiral Yi Yeol knew it was a trap; he wasted no time telling Callie and Cristina that over the radio.

"Specialist Lindmann, Volunteer Bernardino," his voice crackled, "This is not the real Cao Bao, but an impostor; his file marks him as too... self-preserving to show himself just when the battle is starting. Special Agent Makraig... You're in reserve as we are going to spring that trap."

The noise of explosions from ships too far away to see were already reaching their ears, even in the BRP Jose Rizal's communications tower, where they had gathered to make better use of Callie and Myron's Noble Arms. Inside, they could see the mass of monitors and panels, manned by cool-headed, mundane personnel who sorted through the data that flowed through bundles of fiber optic cables that fed the blocky, modular consoles.

Admiral Yi Yeol continued, "Task Force Obsidian goes in, takes out the Imposter and those protecting him, then gets out. Do not try and take the Aircraft Carrier for yourself; assuming that the real Cao Bao is still alive elsewhere, focus on killing enemy personnel. But if you must capture someone, have Henri use his Anti-Magic Field to remove Cao Bao's 'marks' from them and their equipment. Now, Move Out; we have a war to win..."

Type-004 Guandong-class Nuclear Aircraft Carrier - 12/25/2022, 5:19, UTC+8

Newly built, but hardly bloodied, the Type-004 Guandong-class Nuclear Aircraft Carrier was the flagship of the People's Liberation Army Navy. Weighing up to 110,000 tons and capable of carrying up to a hundred aircraft, its steel-gray deck was a landscape of its own, brimming with just-restored fighter jets and a smattering of helicopters and drones. Beside a stealth bomber, Cao Bao waited for Task Force Obsidian, standing there as they portaled or teleported in - A sign that this was an impostor.

'Cao Bao' stood tall, then dissolved into what seemed like iron filings. From boxes of maintenance equipment, prefabricated armor plates, and boxes of metal with no discernible purpose except to serve as barricades emerged the barrels of anti-materiel and heavy machine guns, along with the occasional grenade launcher.

Then someone strolled from around the corner of a large cargo container.

"Hey, hey, hey!" the young man in flamboyant but torn clothes that looked straight out of a Wuxia film said. "My name is Wu Shufen, the Second Monkey King! I'm the Monkey of the Zodiac - The People's Republic of China's Zodiac, not the imitation ones you guys have!"

Still in his chipper tone as he waved about his quarterstaff, he continued, "Now, I won't ask you guys to surrender; Huo Ren's a black mark on us and so is Ai Chen and Yulian is still alive as far as I know, so let's fight; the most wily wins!"

Field of Cars, File Island, Digital World

Elecmon frowned at that and looked at his friend, hoping that he, Dorumon, had a plan just for this. But his friend seemed to be worried about something that had nothing to do with what was going on just then. And judging by how Dorumon had a small burlap bag to hold the Digivices with - It was cheaper than conjuring them from thin air - Elecmon can guess just what he was worried about.

There was one more Human and a potential Digimon partner than there was a Digivice; more hints of Lucemon and his machinations. The orange Digimon, which looked like a giant mouse combined with a possum, but whose tail was a fan of feathers, frowned, his tiny fangs showing as he looked at the group of future partners.

Dorumon was too worried to pay attention; an ominous development.

So Elecmon decided to force the situation and nudge Dorumon to move closer to the group of Humans; after some vague murmuring, Dorumon walked forward once again, and Elecmon accompanied him on all fours, catching sight of his redheaded future partner as he did so. But before he could talk to him, Dorumon was already walking towards Pulsemon and Vergil, his eyes glinting as he glared at the latter.

At that time, Elecmon thought it was due to outrage at that cranky brown-haired teen having tried to abuse Pulsemon (and failing) before approaching Dorumon like he had a chip on his shoulder (which he did). Time would tell if he would ever infer the real motivations behind Dorumon's expression as the dinosaur-like, dragon-cub-esque Digimon met the brown-haired teen with an attitude halfway, then cleared his throat.

The sun shone on his fur, which was purple except for his underbelly, paws, tail tip, and snout, which were pure white. From that snout came forth human words in a language that should not have been physically possible for such a creature to speak.

"If you want answers, you can get them from me, Mr. Falcon," Dorumon's tone carried a roughness to it that was slightly testier than usual. "Long story short, this is the Digital World, which in turn is made of Humanity's data combined with some form of extra-dimensional energy; think 'The Force' from your movies. We are Digimon, sapient beings of Data and extra-dimensional energy given life, and with the help of... gadgets called Digivices, Digimon can be fed emotional energy and grow in power."

He then tossed one of the devices in question, a small, oval, rectangular object that looked like a child's toy with a screen at its center, then continued, "I had enough for all of you, but some were stolen, along with most of the partners they were... destined for. You see, this Digital World is under the tyranny of the... Demon King Lucemon and the six other Demon Lords, whose goals are to snuff out this last bastion of freedom, File Island.

"Lucemon, in pursuit of these plans, has taken some of the Digivices that I... acquired and used them to persuade, no, manipulate, several of your fellow Humans into taking his side and conquering the Digital World and putting it under their boot heels."

Dorumon then glanced at Vergil, his furry tail waving around as he threw in a barb, "Let's just say that Lucemon likes playing on people when they feel abused, neglected, shunned or hated, and now they're a villain who may probably go to fatal lengths for revenge..."
