You JUST scrolled down!

Hello out there! My name's Mason. I like a lot of random stuff like comics, Masters of the Universe, M*A*S*H, X-Files, conspiracy theories, as well as a good superhero themed role play! I'm more of a DC freak than a Marvel zombie but I did grow up on mutants and 3rd string heroes. Once in awhile I'll make a few micros in MSPaint for my RP's because I love designing heroes as much as I do writing/reading about them. I'm about to try and get another random themed game off the ground, if you're interested gimme a shout!

My top RP's on the Guild:

Young Justice 2020
Justice League Unlimited
Titans of Gotham
Champions of Engine City
Marvel Reborn
Legion of Superheroes Return [stat based]

Top Characters:

Ditto - Young Justice series
Bulleteer - Justice League Unlimited
Leviathan - Titans of Gotham
Fastlane - Champions of Engine City
the Thing II - Marvel Reborn
Ultra Boy II - Legion of Superheroes Return

I've been RP'ing for awhile. I mostly RP to keep my writing skills up to par, and I generally RP between Casual and Advanced. I've been a member of the guild for quite a bit, pre Guildfall even. Ninety percent of the time you'll find me in some superhero themed RP or something based off of another fandom like MotU or Power Rangers. Currently in the process of developing my own comics!

Favorite DC heroes (I won't go into villains to save space) in no order: Aquaman, Hawkman, Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner), Superboy (the clone), Swamp Thing, Starman, Animal Man, the Ray (90's era), Impulse, Captain Atom, and Batman Beyond.

Favorite Marvel heroes list: Human Torch I & II, Capt. Mar-Vell, Black Bolt, the classic Destroyer, Havok, Multiple Man, classic Scarlet Spider, Spiderman 2099, Nova, and Colossus.

OTHER FAVORITES: Space Ghost, the Rocketeer, the Maxx, Shadowhawk, Green Hornet, Madman, Doctor Star/Andromeda, the Phantom, He-Man, and Zorro.

And I already posted the link to the new OOC, so far we've got 5 characters posted. Where's Sentinel and Yellowjacket @Lmpkio & @Weird Tales?

EDIT: Nevermind Sentinel was on there. Guess everbody's using hider tags for CS's...

So only one mythological character is allowed to exist? Or only one schmuck in a power suit? Or just one alien outlaw? In the entire fucking universe? There's suspension of disbelief, and there's just plain stupid logic.

That's why there were additional Wildcard spots and Alien Spots, as well as an additional Big Man/Woman spot. The Big Man could've just as easily been Atlas or Ares and worked alongside the demi-god so long as he was primarily a strength based character.

In previous games I've had the problem of half the cast being the same type of archetype. If I'd accepted every vigilante archetype CS for this there would've been a total of four or five not including the other characters who are walking the line. I don't want that anymore than I do five schmuck's in power suits. Or a half dozen Alien Outlaws. If I wanted the last two I'd make an Iron Man/Iron Army RP or a Guardians of the Galaxy RP. If we form a team later on it will presumably be more like the Avengers than the Justice League, especially with STRIKE watching over us all SHIELD style. And archetypes are bound to free up soon if we get any early dropouts.

The new OOC is up. Get ready cause I might start the IC tonight as well. Reinterpreted some things in the details, and I don't think the @ mentions work in opening posts of new threads.

Archetype: Size Manipulator
Name: Jonathon Marlowe
Alias: Gigas
Age: 28
Powers:

* Duplication - Marlowe can create 5 duplicates, of different size and strength.
* Dupe Telepathy - Marlowe and his giant dupes are all connected telepathically.
* Strength/Durability - With each duplicate the hero is granted more strength and durability.

6 ft - At normal height and weight, Marlowe can lift five tons and take small arms fire.
12 ft - The first dupe can lift 10 tons and take heavy arms fire.
18 ft - The second dupe can lift 15 tons, and take any gunfire with the addition of bladed weapons having no effect.
24 ft - 20 ton lift, same as before.
30 ft - 25 ton lift, same as before.
60 ft - 50 ton lift, same as before, just twice as big and powerful

Weaknesses:

* The more duplicates he makes, the less time they have to stick around. With all of his duplicates active, he has roughly five minutes to get everything he needs to done. The most strain comes from the last giant dupe. Without the largest dupe, Marlowe can keep them active for fifteen minutes. He generally just uses the first two or three duplicates.

* Brute Force - anybody stronger than Marlowe could still get the best of him.

* Telepathic Attacks - his mind is always vulnerable. If his concentration is broken he involuntarily reabsorbs his dupes.

* Gas Bombs - Gas based weapons effect him like they would anyone.

* Heat / Cold - Gigas can still be burned and suffer the same as anyone from extreme temperatures.

* Eyesight - Flash grenades mess him up, he wears special golden contacts to help with being near sighted and to protect from the sun's rays. Bright lights are still a big weakness.

Alignment: Hero, Agent of STRIKE
Personality: honest, cautious, tactical, easy going, resourceful
Appearance:

BRIEF Bio:

Marlowe was an Olympic level wrestler and sprint runner who later in life became a security guard for a hospital in New Athens for several years. Upon coming into contact with an alien and some strange substance on the edge of the hospital perimeter, Jon was somehow given the ability to make giant duplicates of himself. Shortly after STRIKE's mountain fortress HQ was set up in New Athens [two years ago], Jon was recruited into their rank and has trained with some of the best in hand to hand. A couple of his giant dupes actually helped with the recent renovations in the east wing of the HQ. Now with Liberty Son on the path to becoming the twisted Darkstar, STRIKE will recruit every hero it can in an attempt to take down one of the nation's most influential superhumans. And one of the first was Jon, now codenamed 'Gigas'.

At this point in his career he's mostly trained with STRIKE agents and doesn't have any real in the field experience. He can't wait to remedy this.

Storylines:

* Out of the Shadows - Rumors of a giant man in the ranks are finally put to rest when Gigas is tasked with being among the superhumans to take down Liberty Son / Darkstar.

* Assault on STRIKE - the mountain fortress is attacked...

Notes: We need more supervillains.

U N I V E R S A L

Welcome to New Athens, a city of adventure and intrigue on the Atlantic Coast of North Carolina. In New Athens, a hero is made every day and a villain every night. A thriving metropolis, New Athens is a modern city built in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina and extending to the Atlantic Ocean with several valleys and one large river that connects to the coast. Over the years the city thrived with coal mining being it's main source of revenue however New Athens quickly became a leading industrial city on the eastern 'States with several noteworthy corporations' factories and plants. Westman Chemical Plant, Napier Valley Ammunition Plant, Pepsi Cola Bottling Company, and Wells Helicopter are just a few of the reasons people choose to live and work in the grand city of tomorrow. The Olympian Gazette is widely known for its stories of new superhumans and celebrities, as well as the general local news. Midtown is where most of the action is, as well as the Mercury Mall. Subdivisions, landmarks, and schools include Lee Heights, the Kirby River, Shuster Elementary School, Universal Avenue [one of the longest streets in America], Simon Middle School, Kubert High School, Riverview [ghetto subdivision], Highland Park, Warpath State Park [in the mountains], the Museum of Tomorrow [tech museum], etc. The city sees a number of tourists as well, all trying to get a glimpse of superhumans in action. New Athens has more superhumans than any other major metropolitan city in America with a general population of over three hundred and sixty thousand residents with an estimated fifteen thousand superhumans possibly within city limits. And who are these superhumans?

________________________________________

The general idea is to build a universe similar to how the big two comic book companies have done with heroic crossovers, fights between the heroes, and team-ups leading into the eventual founding of a superteam within the game. Now, that isn't saying you HAVE to join a superteam. Originally in the comics the Hulk only joined the Avengers long enough to take down Loki. When looking at the building blocks of a more connected universe I look to movies and story lines like Batman v Superman, Civil War, the Avengers, Justice League War [the animated retelling of the new52 JL origin], Hulk vs. the Thing, Secret Invasion, etc. There are a lot of teams and concepts involved, but not everyone's characters will be team players or want to be. And I get that. There will always be the option to have a 'Wildcard' which is exactly what it sounds like. Can be anything and not even based on an existing archetype. Maybe you wanna create something of an amalgam of Hawkman and the Punisher and toss into the game as a vigilante w/superpowers? That can still happen.

I'm also going to be one of those people who insists this is a High Casual RP. I'm not exactly looking for Advanced level length posts, I just don't want to have to assist everyone with their own individual stories because that isn't what this game is about. Two or three players could be working on their own thing in the game while I'm mimicking a battle like Hulk vs Thing or Superman vs Batman with another player in the background. If we lack a Superman or Capt. America type character, then the group can have dibs on collectively making them like I mentioned above.

Archetypes and Marvel examples of each [that's still available] include:

Updating the Player/Character log [again]! Any inactive players have been removed and more archetypes are available in green for any interested RP'ers!

That's everybody including a few with incomplete CS's I've already pre-approved. Remaining available archetypes are in green, but again I'll be capping recruiting and only accepting characters/archetypes we really need. Probably done with Wildcards for now. If I missed somebody that had already been approved shoot me a PM, if not and you've waited this long to submit even a WIP sheet pickings are super slim for an archetype now. If/When there are any drop-outs just check with the OP of this thread for a list of archetypes that are back on the table. Apologies if you wanted in on this and archetypes became unavailable. Honestly didn't expect this many but we can roll with it. Looking forward to some characters meeting and eventually having a few form teams and alliances and such!

Archetype: Atlantian

Name: Arkylius of Atlantis

Alias: Sea Snake

Age: 24

Powers:

'Ark has powers based on your average Atlantian native. His physical attributes are heightened giving him additional strength and durability to survive the pressures of the deep. His max lift would be around five tons but he'd be straining, and his skin is hard enough to withstand small arms fire with barely a mark. As an Atlantian he can 'speak' telepathically to water based life forms but it's literally like talking to them. He can't control them at all like Aquaman or keep a shark from tearing into him. Arkylius also has enhanced hearing and vision as well as the ability to breath underwater.

In addition to his heightened physicals, the gear 'Ark uses is really what makes him stand out. His black, gray, and yellow scaled suit give him a little more protection and can withstand heavy arms fire where covered. On his calves and partially down his spine are fin like areas that help him propel through the water faster. He'll also wield a spear or something, just can't decide what yet. His hydro-mechanical giant snake that a surface dweller dubbed 'Jake' is his main mode of transportation in water AND on land and is capable of crushing something as large as a school bus with its ability to constrict. The snake as well as 'Ark's suit are also outfitted with stealth tech rendering them both invisible when needed. The snake is roughly seventy feet long [roughly the length of two school busses] and about four feet wide in diameter and can reach speed in the water up to 200 mph. A concealed ear piece links the mind of 'Ark to the machine.

Weaknesses:

Being on land for too long greatly decreases the level of power in both 'Ark and Jake the Snake. While 'Ark can remain on land for up to four hours before needing hydration, after the four hours he becomes dehydrated quickly and shows the usual signs of that before dying like a fish out of water. The robotic snake only lasts about two hours before needing to be completely submerged in water to charge it's power. The snake's top speed on land is greatly reduced to a mere 50-60 mph. The snake isn't indestructable, but it'd be like trying to take down a tank if you didn't possess super strength or energy hot enough to hamper it's mechanics.

Alignment: Hero

Personality: Honorable, Loyal, Naive [on land dwellers and their customs], Impulsive, Eager

Appearance: Black and gray bodysuit with light armor covering his left arm and his right wrist. Portions are also slightly armored with yellow scaled portions as well as having fins on his calves and spine. His eyes glow a light gold color and 'Ark has long dark-brown hair.

Jake the Snake looks like this but with a pair of horn like bumps on its head:

BRIEF Bio:

Ark was just another 20-something Atlantian native and the nephew of King Orrinus until one day the royal guard of Atlantis had to defend the city and the king from 'the Creature King' who possessed several mostly giant robotic creatures at one time including Jake the Snake. Most of the mechanical creatures were destroyed however Ark found one in stealth mode just outside of the walls of Atlantis. Ark toyed with the machine for nearly a year before adopting a superhero like alias and helping the Royal Guard defend the city against Kraken, the merman Swordfish, as well as the Creature King.

When his uncle, the king, realized it was his nephew helping his guards defend against the city's enemies he was actually offended that the young Atlantian didn't think his Royal Guard was capable enough on their own with all of their training and ordered the robot snake be dismantled. Lashing out against his superiors, Ark rebelled and chose to leave the undersea kingdom. Now he's arrived in New Athens, wide eyed and ready to take on the surface world.

Storylines:

If @Marik is cool and is bringing back the person responsible for Marionette's cybernetics I'll need somebody to eventually fix Jake after getting a little too beaten up trying to stop a supervillain who's out of his league. Could lead to a crossover at some point.

And @Lord Wraith I REALLY want to have a run-in with your pawn shop Gargoyles somewhere for whatever reason. We're located somewhere on the coast of North Carolina in my mind's map with the Appalachians on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other. Maybe Mayhew wants to acquire something out of the ocean?

Notes: He was originally going to be a reformed villain but I went with the Atlantian archetype instead and made him the unofficial and unwanted hero of Atlantis.

OOC WILL BE POSTED WITHIN THE NEXT HOUR OR SO!

~KL~
@Lord Wraith was in one of my only RP's that had an eventual ending in-game with a Batman Beyond RP that included more clones of Bruce and that twist we devised with his character turning out to be Damian and the big bad the whole time who kidnapped Terry McGinnis. I remember when that bit was revealed in game it blew everyone's minds.

Only games other than that one that ended when I wanted them to were when we started a second or third 'season' in a series. I'm cutting my number of RP's down to give more attention to this one.

~KL~

At some point somebody could need the power of a plant based hero or you could solo and do a team up here and there till a team is formed. A lot of options really once we get this thing going...

~KL~
If we get to a point we REALLY need them we can always do the community made sandbox characters and create them as a group. So it's not something I'm stressing about ATM...

~KL~
I've been getting it a lot too in between refreshing pages...

Here's a more complete list of who we've got, and honestly I'll probably have to cap recruiting for now outside of something we could really use like a Plant Person like @Gisk is interested in or a Feral Man/Woman. I'll eventually add which are heroes, villains, and walking the line, as well as who's male and female.

If I missed somebody that had already been approved shoot me a PM, if not and you've waited this long to submit even a WIP sheet pickings are super slim for an archetype now.
