there are different types of Robots

Golems - Golems are machines that run on essence. They are slightly magical in nature and are generally powered by binding a spirit to its vessel.

Androids - Androids carry the brain/ soul of a living mortal. Their systems are only as complicated as their design, which can be incredibly advanced.

Droids - Droids are machines that are programmed by mundane means and have a processor, computer chip and require power or fuel to function.

Automaton - Automaton are powered by either essence, fuel, power, etc but their processing unit are actually a type of machine spirit called an awakened intelligence. These are the most advanced and most useful in scope because commonly the AI can be removed and placed in another system seamlessly. Like golems, they can even have magic to help them perform their functions. AI develop their own personalities over time and can be quite unpredictable if the AI is quite old or has been deprived of interaction for too long.

Mechanoids / Synthetics - More akin to a race then a machine. They are advanced enough to develop their own culture and follow all of the rules that other alien races follow, give or take some minor cosmetic adjustments.
