Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.
At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.
I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

ARI Unit-001, "Alice"

The small, silver-haired girl sat in silence.

This was to be her first deployment alongside humans. Prior to this point, she had indeed made excursions into rifts. However, they had been short in duration and intended entirely to test her capabilities as an artificial rift diver, to see if she could even properly function after passing through the portal. This was the first time she was being deployed as part of a unit. The first time that she would be facing proper combat, outside of the test area.

"Mission confirmed," she stated, simply, her gaze shifting towards Albrecht. Quietly, she placed one hand to her chest as she spoke. What was this sensation? It was a strange prickling feeling... while it was not as if she was unaware that her creators had given her the ability to feel, the fact was simply that she did not understand what this feeling was. It was hardly a comforting sensation, however. Perhaps it was... unease? Was she... anxious?

What did that mean?

After a few moments of further silence, the girl spoke once more.

"... ARI Unit-001," she added. Introducing oneself was important. That was something she had learned already. Humans always introduced themselves, so it was required that she do the same for herself.

"..."

Was there something else she was supposed to say? What was it...

"... Please, take care of me."

That was it, right?

Saber - Arturia Pendragon and Kobayashi Seria

"It may be taking some time, but it is important that we undergo the proper process for entry into these contests," responded the blonde knight. She, too, was now clad in her gleaming armor, though Excalibur was currently unsummoned. "As much as the idea of having breakfast is appealing, this is the correct course of action."

To be alongside even a few of her knights, once again... to see Lancelot, Gawain, Gareth, Tristan, and Mordred standing together as allies once more... It caused the King of Knights to feel a lightness in her heart. Even with the memory of all the ways in which she had made mistakes lingering in her mind, perhaps she simply couldn't help it? It was something Arturia had longed for all along, she realized. Even when she had believed she must eradicate her presence in history, the truth was that she did still desire to fight alongside her comrades again. And that desire was being granted. She couldn't help but wonder if more of her knights would be summoned.

... Was it... was it right for her to hope these things? Was it right for her to desire to see all her knights once again?

She simply couldn't accept that it was, and yet it was impossible for her to stop feeling as such.

It couldn't be helped that she was struggling to actually speak with her knights, either, one hand placed to her chest as her mind attempted to find the proper words.

Seria was, unlike the other present Master, feeling rather proud. Yes, she had planned to enter the arena in the first place. After all, what better way was there to show how powerful the Servant you had summoned as then defeating enemies in the arena? This was just the opportunity to show off, like she'd wanted!

The Archer, Tristan, seemed pretty mopey though... was that part of his legend? Seria had to confess, out of the Knights of the Round Table, he was one of the ones she knew less about. But maybe seeming him in action would help her learn?

She had nothing but confidence in Mordred.

Mihama Nanako

Nanako didn't say anything to Meltryllis. After all, nothing she could say would help. The fact was simply that Meltryllis quite clearly hated her, and nothing Nanako could do would change that. The thing that would make her Servant happiest was if they barely interacted. At least, that was the thought in the dark-haired girl's mind as she dully nodded towards the Alter Ego. She wanted to try and make her Servant happy, so... so that was what she had to do, wasn't it?

Her tired mind was suddenly jolted to attention, however, when BB's voice rang out from her TV. But, unlike the first time, where Nanako had been exasperated and attempted to grapple with the idea that an AI from the future(possibly even not the same future as they were heading towards), after the initial shock Nanako simply quietly nodded to the girl on her TV's request. There wasn't much else she could do now, was there?

"... Let's go..." Nanako said, simply, as she began to gather her things.

She hadn't even attempted to make herself breakfast.

  • Name: ARI(Artificial Rift Intruder) Unit-001, affectionately known as Alice by her creators
  • Age: 1
  • Appearance: Pale, with platinum blonde hair and pale blue eyes. Blue jacket and equipment, bodysuit is white and black. Very short at below 5'0.
  • Personality: ARI-001, or Alice as her creators most often refer to her, is a very quiet, expressionless individual. Indeed, in most respects she seems to be completely emotionless. One could easily be forgiven for believing that to be the case. However, closer observation will reveal that Alice does indeed possess emotions, albeit they are usually extremely subdued. Due to her extremely advanced artificial intelligence, Alice's behavior is remarkably humanlike, though still stilted as she does not truly understand how to express herself. Alice does not understand many human social conventions, but she is highly curious and possesses an interest in learning about the world and people around her. While she is unlikely to voice her questions, she is highly likely to observe the world around in in a rather intense fashion, which may seem a little disconcerting given how often this leads to her staring at people. Alice also possesses an interest in animals, particularly small, fluffy ones. In spite of her curiosity, Alice will do little to encourage interaction with herself, still having a viewpoint that she is a 'tool' made for the purpose of rift diving. Tools don't often talk with humans. She will immediately prioritize the lives of others over herself, up to the point of causing extreme damage or even catastrophic damage to herself if it means protecting others. It can be said that any sense of self-preservation she possesses is immediately lost when the lives of others are in danger.
  • Attribute: Alice is not human and therefore is incapable of possessing an attribute. However, a prototype 'Artificial Concept Engine' was installed within her during her creation, allowing her to mimic the attribute 'Light'. This is mostly for the purpose of generating infinite ammunition for her directed mana weapons and has little use beyond this as of now.
  • Abilities: Alice is not human, nor is she organic. As such, her body is considerably more durable then it would appear, and she is not at risk of blood loss or injury in the same manner as a human. However, as a system intended to avoid her unnecessarily causing serious damage to herself, she is capable of feeling pain. Alice is an artificial human, a robot created for rift diving with the use of advanced technological and magical systems. These manifest in the form of her armament and equipment.
There are three stages of deployment of her weaponry, each unlocked with an incantation and confirmation code.
The default stage is Argent Gamma. In this stage of deployment, she is equipped with a set of mana-based laser cannons fueled by her Artificial Concept Engine that can also serve as a shield, and a chain-blade weapon inscribed with 'fairy letters' discovered in one rift that allow it to damage magical defenses. This is her default combat stage.
The second stage of deployment is Argent Beta. This stage of weapon deployment combines her smaller laser weaponry into a single cannon, and creates a hard-light mana blade projected from her chain-blade. More potent, but less versatile and slower, as well as consuming more power.
The final stage of deployment is Argent Alpha. This trades her melee capabilities away entirely, in order pour all her energy into an overwhelming ranged attack. All her equipment is transformed into a single enormous magical cannon, a high-grade anti-fortress weapon capable of vaporizing solid manner with a single shot. Known as Vorpal Cannon, it taps directly into her core energy supply, and firing it can cause enormous backlash damaging her internal systems. A weapon of last resort that can cripple her operations or even destroy her entirely.
  • Skills: Alice has absolutely no skills practical for survival. However, she would like to learn how to cook, in spite of never mentioning this to anyone.
  • History: ARI Unit-001, or Alice, is the product of a collaboration between the Shiokawa Institute of Magic-Technology Hybridization, based in Japan, and the Robertson Institute for the Advancement of Robotics in the United States. The goal of the collaboration was to make an artificial being capable of performing action within the rifts. Indeed, they wished to create an artificial Rift Diver. After many years of development(and a not-insignificant number of failures), the ultimate product of this effort, ARI Unit-001, was created. Designed in the form of a young girl(due to the influence of the Shiokawa Institute and one of the notable scientists designing her schematics, as the Robertson Institute was initially intended to create something decidedly more manly), her creators began to refer to her as 'Alice' due to both her appearance and the idea that she would be 'entering wonderland'. She has only recently been cleared for experimental deployment, though she has entered rifts prior to this point she has never done so with others.

If anyone needs me to make any edits to help flesh things out or give them more to do, I'll happily do so! Just let me know!
The moment Leonardo spoke to her, calling her 'kiddo' and drawing attention to her stature, Arinne narrowed her eyes. She didn't respond to him, however. No, her mind was deep in thought over the best way to pay him back for that little remark. There were a number of ways she could do it, but each one of them was something that would delay the trip to the crime scenes too much for her liking. Besides, the more time she planned, the more time Arinne could ensure her vengeance was appropriate. As long as it didn't cause permanent injury, virtually any possibility was open to her mind.

"... If a certain someone is done being rude, we may depart," she said, rising from her seat with a nod towards Paul. Those seating arrangements did not dismay her in the slightest.

With that, she lead the way out of the room. Transport had already been prepared, the Ar-Rynesarte influence was still enough to swiftly garner such service, after all.

But there was another delay.

It was an older man, one whose hair had begun to grey, but still held some signs of youth, clad in dark clothing.

"Ah, Lady Ar-Rynesarte. What are you doing this fine day?" he asked, with a smile.

"I'm not interested in becoming wrapped in conversation with you, Lord Vallius," Arinne responded, shortly, narrowing her eyes. The long-winded lecturer had seemed to take an interest in attempting to hold conversations with her as of late. She supposed there was nothing wrong with that, especially given the man had not-so-long ago lost his daughter, but she had no interest in serving as a surrogate, especially when she had business to attend to. "I have important business I must attend to, as you may be able to discern."

"... Is it about that murderer?" he asked, with a frown, "You really shouldn't worry yourself over such things. The Citadel Six will certainly handle it."

"If I had the faith in the Unlucky Six to do their job flawlessly, I would not have activated my remaining contracts. Good day, Lord Vallius," she said, narrowing her eyes slightly as she did. The man let out a sigh as she departed, leading her servants to the vehicles they would be taking.

Once everyone had been sorted into the appropriate cars, they were off.

The moment Arinne's group, and by extension the others, arrived at their respective crime scenes, the first obstacle was immediately apparent.

They weren't abandoned.

"Hey, hey, you can't come in here!" warned a police officer, a young woman, accompanied by a man. Arinne sighed. She had expected this, but it didn't make the process any less annoying. She could just barely see into the alleyway beyond. There was no way they could conduct an investigation like this.

And so...

Mana flowed through Arinne's limbs. She was, perhaps, well-equipped to deal with such a scenario.

"Don't worry, officers, we won't be taking any of your time," she stated, smirking as she glanced up at the both of them.

"O waters, still and freeze, flow no more."

The magical energy in her body flowed down to her fingertips, as she calmly raised her right hand and waved it.

"Let stillness take you."

Suddenly, the officers were... not frozen, no. But they may as well have been. Their movements(and even their perception of reality) had suddenly slowed to a crawl, to the point where it almost seemed as if they were frozen solid. It was a simple spell, a sort of stasis. Completely useless against anyone with any magical capabilities, but against people like these police officers...

They would have all the time in the world to perform their investigation.

"Come along, then," Arinne said, simply, glancing back towards the others, "Let's see what this blood-soaked killer left behind!"

There was perhaps a hint of too much excitement in her voice.

The crime scene was of course no longer home to the body, but the chalk outline remained. Not only that, but the rather expansive spray of dried blood lingered, as well. Notably, the largest marks were near the victim's head and roughly a meter in front of them.

At this moment, the other groups were being encountered with similar roadblocks, police officers blocking their way. Each crime scene was in a back-alley, just outside of the normal routes most people took, and would hold a similar sight... at least at first glance. But nothing could be done without circumventing local law enforcement, now, could it?

But if they couldn't deal with that, they were hardly worthy Servants, now, were they?

Okay my character should be coming soon, she's going to be a bit weird but I got the okay from the GM.
The little puppy let out a soft yip, shuffling up to Fleuri and licking whatever part of him was in reach. It seemed that, in spite of its skittishness, the small creature was not exactly displeased to see people. Even if it was fairly wary initially.

It was only moments later that Mae suddenly appeared, rushing up to the two knights.

"Rissia told me she thinks you found-Ennifer!"

Overjoyed, the little girl fell to her knees with open arms. Immediately, tail wagging, the little puppy dove into her owner's embrace, Mae hugging the tiny dog to her chest as it licked her face.

"Thank you thank you thank yoooouuuu!" cried the little girl as she hugging the puppy close, "The Iron Roses are amazing! They're really really amazing! Ennifeeeer!"

It didn't take much more to make it obvious the little girl was happy.

But suddenly...

There was a weight on Fleuri's shoulders. Not a particularly heavy one at all, but certainly present.

It was the other little her, the one with dark hair, pale skin, and a wide-brimmed hat. Rissia.

"I knew you could do it!" she declared, cheerfully, kicking her feet on either side of Fleuri's head. Just how had she gotten there so easily? Had she been sitting on the roof of the tavern, just waiting for the right moment?

"Hehe~ You'd be pretty bad knights if you couldn't help a little girl, though," she added, teasingly prodding her current mount's cheek as she did. This was the innocent lack of respect of a child, wasn't it?

Or...

The orcs were no match for the knights.

Given they had been killing plenty of them leading up to this point, and the force here was considerably smaller then the ones they had faced before, the barbarians were slain in short order. Fanilly's dagger caught one dark, jagged blade and her sword bit through crude armor and flesh, the final orc falling in a grisly heap. Indeed, they were already slaughtered. Preparation, certainly, served to diminish their threat.

But, the instant the final orc fell.

"... Very well... I suppose you've killed plenty of beasts tonight, haven't you? A few more was nothing."

Fanilly could hear the Witch's voice carry from the top of the tower. She could see the dark figure of the woman at the peak of the ruins, smiling down at them.

As she raised one hand, a brilliant arch of purple magic circles steadily materialized in the air, forming an arc over the tower as they did. They seemed more tangible, more intense then the ones at the forest ruins. In that case...!

"Perhaps this will get her attention?"

There was a whine, almost like but no-where near the volume of the scream that had accompanied the enormous blast during the battle, as beams of magical energy suddenly rained down on the knights! Fanilly rolled once, one laser hissing into the earth where she once stood, before immediately charging once more. She couldn't think about anything else. She couldn't let there be any more delays. This madwoman was endangering the entire town, every last man, woman and child, so they had to reach her!

If they could just get up the tower...!

Saber - Benienma

If the perpetrator had still been there, she would have set upon them immediately.

Benienma had not officially served in the capacity of a guardian and judge for some time, though she still could if she so chose. But that did not mean her skills in that regard had dulled, and now that she served as part of the city's law enforcement... she simply would not, could not, do anything but her best. That poor girl, shot for what seemed to be no reason. Even if there was a reason, how could it possibly be a justified one? She was recovering, certainly, but if she hadn't survived...

The culprit had to be found. As soon as possible. They had to locate the perpetrator as soon as possible and bring him to justice. It was just a simple fact.

The tiny redhead nodded towards her Master.

"Of course, Master," she said, simply, her gaze shifting from the scene of the crime itself to the surrounding area. With that, she swiftly began her investigating, scanning the area. Not only with her own eyes, but the eyes of a large number of sparrows that had flown to her side.
