Ahem.

The fact that some GMs think they are all powerful and can do anything they want when they feel like it in an RP. I understand some people like to take their roleplays seriously and such and all that, but if someone criticizes the way you are handling things... and the GM seemingly nerfs your character or gets your character to have something horrible happen to them, because of 'plot', the very next day. It tends ro grind my gears til sparks are flying.

I don't know the context, but GMs are the directors of the RP and kinda are “all powerful”. Doesn't mean they should be assholes or unflinching tyrants, but they do have that autonomy and that right to do what they think is best for their RP.

I am a believer in GM God's, but I also agree with this. I think GMs should be able to do whatever they want in a game, but it would be better if they weren't assholes about it.

Sometimes a GM has to nerf characters and players because they can see a loophole that may be exploited. The GM is simply taking control of the situation and balancing out the field so they can see everyone enjoy an even experience.

The delivery of that message however is what can change a passionate GM to a tyrant, and vice versa. Most of the time they want the best but frustrations from players or even themselves when missing details, can in fact impact their perception from others.

When you find a great RP, ideas running well and such then thr GM vanishes without a trace and it dies.

Thing rolling nice, things starting to get fun and such and then... Nothing.
Gone. Caput :(

I can relate to that. We were less than 10 IC posts in when the GM dropped off the face of the earth.

Fancy finding you here of all places @boomlover :)

That feeling when you work on ideas for months, never openly broadcast them, and circumstance/shifting interests means they die and fade away before they even become interest checks...

@PrinceAlexus Reminds me of a really promising RP. First RP someone made, then a few days in, they up and vanished and haven't been back on the site since. Feelsbadman.

Canon x OC pairings where the thread maker wants OC slot makes it look like the following:

OP wants to make a creative character and slot the other person in a position of rigorously sticking with the canon of the given verse so OP can fulfill a fetish to be a part of the universe (fandom, basically) without inviting much creative modifications from the other side. Hence, a non-original roleplay, and something probably better suited to just being a poor grammar, no paragraph fanfiction for the interest it will probably bring. Bonus for it being an anime totally not ecchi set of pairings.

This is where most "genuine" (I use the term very broadly and am bound to trigger some super sensitive people so shoot me) roleplayers who are interested in this scenario will (and should imo) be open to doubling up, person plays canon partner of your choice for your OC, you play canon partner of their choice for their OC. Everyone wins and is happy.

Alas it doesn't always work out that way either XD

What's with the prevailing new trend of black on guild background for titles and such?

It's not unreadable per se, compared to some of the other "styles" people like to use, but in my book it's almost as semantically bad as using some abhorrent shade of dark blue on guild background for dialogue. Is it... cool to make everything dark like that on a dark theme?

Because it's a petition to make everyone go get a pair of negative glasses. And turn this site into some 2D-negative amusement park show.

...How about fuck no, smh.

'ere we go again. Dark purple, guild background, dialogue. TF. Come on. It doesn't help readability when the 'distinct' words don't stand out and serve to almost blend into the page.

@ArenaSnow when colours could be used to aid a reader and add style, turn more into a burden and a pain in the ass. xD
