Name
Mizuhana Yoshiba
水華 吉葉

Age
15

Origin
Kagoshima, Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan

Physical Description
Often appearing taller than she initially appears, Yoshiba Mizuhana is a spirited young girl who stands at 155 centimeters (around the threshold between 5’0” and 5’1”) with an athletic figure and rather unimpressive “figure” that Yoshiba isn’t entirely thrilled to have pointed out. When not in her designated school uniform (or dream hero attire) Yoshiba is rather plain, as much would not be a surprise since she doesn’t particularly have much for money to waste on frivolous things; as a result she doesn’t have many alternate pairs of clothes. When given the option to have preferences, she likes loose-fitting clothes that allow her to be mobile and isn’t sheepish or prudish in how she’s comes off. If people think her skirt is cut a little too short she doesn’t really pay any mind of it, for example.

Characterization
Antagonistic
Brash
Brave
Cocky
Loud
Proud
Tempermental

Personal History
The daughter of two seafaring heroes who were relatively acclaimed in southern Japan, Yoshiba had a long shadow to overcome before she was even old enough to walk. However, Yoshiba’s challenge to overcome would have nothing to do with their accomplishments as heroes but rather something a lot worse. Yoshiba was effectively raised solely by her mother, Kishiko, following the death of her father after he succumbed to his wounds following a fight with his sworn nemesis. Yoshiba’s childhood thereon would include stories of her father’s valiant deeds and the legacy of his actions as a pro hero. Despite the dangers of her profession, Kishiko never tried to deter Yoshiba’s enthusiastic perception of heroism or by extension, her father—heroism was encouraged and reinforced. However, this would not be the last time the actions of supervillains would influenced Yoshiba’s life.

When Yoshiba was nine years old, supervillains broke into her home in Kagoshima, Japan with the intent of ‘finishing the job’ after her mother had decimated their plan to overtake the region, a grueling plan that had cost them over-a-decade of planning and organization several months prior. Yoshiba doesn’t remember much of details surrounding the battle that leveled her childhood home, but she certainly did not forget what she lost in the aftermath of the battle; her mother died right in front of her as the cloaked villain moved in for the killing blow, and had it not been for the interception of another pro hero, Yoshiba probably would’ve joined her parents in the afterlife right then and there. It would be a thought she would consider a twisted irony after she had been reassigned to an orphanage when the police realized that Yoshiba had no living relatives to speak of and thus no guardianship to fall back on.

It’s been six years since that fateful day and Yoshiba’s drive to become a pro hero has only been reinforced. She intends to show the world that she is ready to be a hero.

Character Development & Conceptualization
Yoshiba is a character I’ve designed as an attempt to play around with the delinquent, smarmy overconfident type of characters. She’s brash, impulsive, loud-mouthed, and smug to pretty much the core of her character, but a lot of that has to do with her insecurities and what she’s been through. She was orphaned because of supervillains and had a pretty rough time in the orphanage that hosted her up until her application to the various academies in Japan. She wants to be great and show the world why supervillains need to be put down swiftly and justly.

Yoshiba is a survivor first and foremost and once you peel back the rigid tsun-esque shell there’s something more to her. Beyond that, there's a lot, but a good amount of her character development relies on who ends up in her classroom, how she interacts with them, how they push her to be better, and where she stands overall. I would like her arrogance and smugness by tempered by someone who becomes her parallel hero, someone she can count on but sardonically put’s down every time she can. A person she can call a rival, even though she will probably most often defer to them as a “sidekick”.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Mutation

Quirk Description
Known by the name of prehensile hair, Yoshiba’s quirk is far more versatile and dynamic than it seems. Yoshiba’s hair is an extension of herself, serving much like a nerve would rather than a muscle in that it shares and acts as Yoshiba’s consciousness wills it to. This includes the ability to “harden”, “sharpen”, and “grapple” among other functions—it has been likened to tentacles among other things for just that reason, though Yoshiba’s control of her quirk has been… inconsistent at best due to her constantly changing emotions, desires, and at times, loss of focus. This lack of self-control and inner focus serves as the quirk’s principal weakness, though it is not the sole weakness considering Yoshiba’s hair is still her hair and as such is not invulnerable despite it being far more durable than it has any right being.

Other Talents & Attributes
Mediocre Student: Yoshiba’s intellect is certainly lacking in some areas, a fact that can be seen in her average-to-mediocre test scores. While Yoshiba makes up for this by being good at physical evaluations and tests, she is constantly frustrated that academically she falters despite wanting to succeed.

Physical Conditioning: Some of Yoshiba’s supplementary talents and abilities include that of being a skilled swimmer and being rather physically conditioned due to the fact that since her mother’s death six years ago she had constantly put her body through hell; this includes her own training but also her tendency to get into schoolyard brawls, to which she used as a sort of outlet for her own emotional misery. Her ability to move around an urban environment, throw a punch, as well as swim is only accented by her quirk.

Natural Swimmer: As a facet of her quirk genetics inherited from her father’s side of the family, Yoshiba is a natural swimmer and has been since her feet first touched water. Whilst she has conditioned herself to be dexterous on land, in the water she is much faster; especially if she uses her prehensile hair to enhance her swimming abilities.

Personal Dossier

Name
Amuro Namie

Age
15

Origin
Tokyo, Japan

Physical Description
At around 5'6", Namie grew a little too fast for her body to catch up and appears deceptively leaner than she should be. The telltale signs of that is the impressive muscle definition that she manages to get when she flexes. Her natural lighter brown hair has an impressive length reaching her rear end but she usually keeps her air up in a pigtails. Her wardrobe and general presentation of herself is relatively laid back with variations clothes that an athlete would wear: team shirts and jackets, running shorts or tights, and so on. Additionally, a trait that may have come about her Quirk is her eyes are red.

Characterization
Resilient
Temper
Stubborn
Aspiring
Dutiful
Pompous

Personal History
For almost every memory has, Namie can only remember her and her dad constantly in between cities. It was the result of her father's Quirk, an ability to project blueprinted or planned construction, and thus, had the two traveling all over Japan to oversee construction or reconstructing efforts. It was the sort of life that was fairly lonely to an only daughter as the constant transferring of schools meant that she didn't have any time to make any lasting friendships. Beyond that, however, was the fact that Namie's mother had passed away and her lack of presence was certainly something that weighed heavily on the family.

At a young age, Namie lost her mother to circumstances that still haven't been made clear to her. She was in the line of duty as a professional hero and lost her life is all that Namie knows about her mother's death. Otherwise, her father isn't speaking much about the subject, even when pressed. However there is one thing that her father lets slip about the subject, she is a lot like her mother. From the Quirk she inherited to her stubbornness, there is a lot of emulation. Thus, there is a rather large part of Namie's essence that drives her to chase after her mother's legacy and become a hero. She can't settle on just becoming one; she wants to become the best. Ishin Academy was her first choice because even though it was the number two school in all of Japan, it would give Namie a chance to finally settle down in school for awhile. Maybe now, she'll find some peace of mind...

Character Development & Conceptualization
Namie is a person of high ambition but believes she is capable of achieving that ambition. She was given a quite versatile Quirk as part of making her capable in her own way but I plan on making her not creative enough to utilize the full versatility of said Quirk. Thus the aim is that she will have to work alongside others to discover not only creative Quirk applications but also to discover a bit more about herself. She hasn't really learned to work well alongside others. This is due, in part, to her past where her father had to travel around Japan a lot for work, often moving him and her around the country. She never really had time to fit in anywhere and make lasting friendships. Her selection of Ishin is in part due to her internal desire to finally be rooted long enough to make friends but mainly due to wanting to very capable as a hero.

Another character arc that I'd like to explore is the reason why Namie wants to be a hero. Her father works in the civil department, using his Quirk to help with rebuilding and building roads. Her mother passed away early in her life so she never really got to know her and even though her father is quite reserved about talking about her mother, she knows that her mother was a hero. This creates the ambition to use her mother's power to do her memory proud. Along the way, discovery of what actually happened to Namie's mother could reveal a potential antagonist or anything the overall story might profit from.

Quirk Type

Quirk Description
In short, [Matter State] uses specialized glands under the skin turn viscous fiber into a maple syrup-like liquid that can be secreted from the body. The user of this Quirk can mentally alter the state of matter this substance is in by altering the temperature, making it warmer to turn into a gas and colder to turn into a solid. The boiling and freezing points are relatively low in energy requirements as in, in order for the for the user to turn the liquid into a gas, one just has to think about the liquid getting warmer until it reaches around 100 *F and for the solid around 20*F. The user can alter the temperature at their best so long as the substance is touching them and may struggle with temperature altering when the substance is away from their body. It isn't impossible to manipulate the state of matter of the substance away from the person but requires great concentration to achieve the almost telepathic thought with severely ramping difficult with distant from the substance (a feat Namie struggles with presently). The substance in all forms is noted to be quite dense, sinking to the bottom of a glass of water in both solid and liquid states. The user of this Quirk must maintain a high fiber diet and overuse of their Quirk will result in extreme dietary fiber loss. Low fiber in the body means that they will have horrid bowel activities and can even risk some more severe consequences of too much Quirk use.

Other Talents & Attributes
Namie has maintained a very healthy amount of athletic activities such as team sports, swimming, and weight training. Although not the biggest, strongest, or most standout Quirk, she still did very well in the psychical tests. Most of her experience with fighting comes from petty sport squabbles, usually due to a bit of stubbornness or self-importance on her part as losing wasn't ever her intent. Outside of a few school yard brawls, she hasn't had any opportunity for proper training, leaving her rough around the edges. In addition, she is motivated well enough to maintain a strong performances in the academic field as well.

Personal Dossier

Name
Kimura Momoka
木村桃花

Age
15

Origin
Shibukawa, Gunma, Japan

Physical Description
Standing at 5'5", Momoka stands taller than most her age due to her foreign blood. With her father's Norwegian roots, Momoka's hair is a dense blonde. Styled with a comb and a single elastic band near the nape of her neck, very little work goes into maintaining her hairstyle. Her dull blue eyes constantly seem tired yet gentle. However, bringing all attention away from her eyes is the large streak of pink paint across of her face. Constantly reapplied by her nervous tics, the stark line tends to also draw attention away from her large forehead. The tips of her bangs share this tic—almost as if permanently dyed.

Her body is surprisingly well built. Lean muscle hidden constantly hidden by loose clothing attest to her unexpected dedication. Her general build would best be described as average. Her style of dress consists of loose shirts and raggedy pants that are constantly splattered in paints. Her uniform is remarkably clean, however. Though, this is because she owns dozens of uniforms. Most of them become stained pink by the end of the day.

Characterization
Languid
Hardworking
Social
Amiable
Insecure
Directionless
Weak-willed

Personal History"Burger's character just wants to be eaten. In a sexual way."
Born to Nils Jansen, a painter, and Kimura Rio, a retired pro hero, the aimless Momoka would almost certainly be a hero or an artist. Momoka always did her best to be liked. She did everything her parents said to the best of her ability. She even picked up painting in an attempt to impress their father. Whenever the neighborhood kids wanted to play, Momoka would always turn them down because she would only slow them down. As she got older, she only thought less and less about her future. Things that she once enjoyed, like painting, had lost their lustre.

Even though she was slow, Momoka helped out everyone she met as much as she could. Many residents of Shibukawa had encountered the young Momoka assisting with something. Be it painting someone's fence, getting a cat down from a tree, or trying to fix someone's computer, she became a well known fixture of the community. Momoka's choice to become a hero was, in reality, the recommendation of her mother. If she didn't know what to do, she could just help others even more. After all, her mother knew that Momoka had the heart to help others. Momoka, of course, wanted to help people. Despite the protests of her worried father, Momoka was resolute in becoming a hero, just like her mother.

Character Development & Conceptualization
Momoka is, in essence, a character that struggles with her own aimlessness. While she has the willpower to achieve her goals, she lacks any sort of drive to create her goals. This has lead to her doing primarily what others tell her to do. As Momoka develops, she will begin to understand that having this sort of aimlessness hurts her greatly. Because of her insecurities, Momoka has the compulsive need to be liked. She will swallow her opinions if she thinks that others will disagree. Her artist's block is reflective of herself. She lacks individualism; she'd rather be liked than be unique.

Because of her upbringing, Momoka has had very little interaction with the "bad" of society. As a result, she has big heart that, for better or for worse, believes in the good of people. She looks to villains as evil because that's what she's been taught; rather than work to defeat these villains, she would much rather save people. This innocence of Momoka acts as a foil to other characters who see villains as irredeemable beings of evil.

As Momoka grows as a character, I intend for her to become more free willed and concise about her future. She'll eventually learn to value her own self-worth instead of being stuck looking for validation. She'll finally understand the missing piece in her paintings and finally get her inspiration back. Her innocence may fade or may be steeled against coming trials, but she'll begin to understand what it really means to be a hero.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Emitter

Quirk Description
Inherited from her mother, Pretty in Pink allows for Momoka to freely control pink liquids using hydrokinesis. This connection is somatic; she must make hand signs, arm movements, and other gestures to control the flow. For instance, in order to launch a spear made of paint, she must punch with as much force as her body can muster. She can create a shield made from paint, but she must block with her arms.

The type of liquid she uses affects its properties. Concentrated pink liquids such as paint tend to be easily controlled, but slightly pink liquids (such as dyed water) can hardly be controlled with any degree of accuracy. The viscosity of a liquid affects how the liquid moves; thin liquids tend to move faster while thicker liquids tend to move slower but hold their shape better.

As she uses a liquid, it accumulates contaminants. Little bits of dirt, grime, rock, and other unwanted materials make the liquid unreliable and troublesome to use. Her range is about 30 meters before the liquid becomes almost impossible to control. While depending primarily on the liquid she manipulates, her top speed is thrice that of her punch: 20 m/s. However, doing so is taxing on her body. As she can't create any pink substances, if Momoka runs out of usable liquids, her quirk becomes useless.

Other Talents & Attributes
Momoka is adaptable. Because of the effort she puts in and her general openness to new ideas, she can acquire skills at a slow but steady pace.
Momoka is a talented painter. Her paintings are nothing special, however. While they are fine technique wise, they lack any sort of emotional punch.

Personal Dossier

Name
Uchimura Mifune

Age
15

Origin
Kawasaki, Kanagawa.

Physical Description
Mifune stands at 5’9, an impressive height given his age, and is the owner of a lean, compact strength and wiry musculature. Somewhat unfortunately is his tendency to mitigate both traits with his general comportment, preferring to carry himself in a ‘nonchalant’ (read: consciously maintained) slouch. His complexion is fair, visage possessed of sharp features rendered dim and almost ghoulish by the prominent bags and sleep-lines that underscore his otherwise striking violet eyes. His hair is a noticeably abrasive pinkish hue, a side-effect of his quirk, and he prefers to style it with the mantra of ‘no-style-at-all’, unkempt and ruffled; within the confines of Ishin Academy, however, he keeps it patted down and tame.

His expression typically cycles throughout three states; a disdainful sneer, a barely composed stone-face that twitches as Mifune begins to lose his composure, or all the outright contortion of unbridled fury.

Characterization
Mifune’s general temperament is as the thin layer that rests atop kettle-water, fluctuating as the brew boils. Perpetually annoyed, and anxious in equal measure (and a fair bit socially awkward and self-conscious), his genuine struggles to maintain a facade of cool tranquility are inevitably short-lived. He fumes at the slightest of annoyances, as if convinced that every detail that doesn’t subscribe to his whims will be the end of him if he doesn’t eradicate it with extreme force. Short-sighted and impulsive, Mifune is brash and almost certainly a bit dim socially, although is rather successful in bookish endeavors, and behaves appropriately in the presence of authority - not a total idiot, to be fair. This is perhaps because his fiery disposition conceals a surprisingly deliberative soul, eminently aware of his weakness and that his overall lack of influence in the universe might very well amount to nothing.

Furthermore, Mifune is a bonafide busybody. His paranoia that the troubles of others will fester and come to affect him are symptoms of a textbook control freak, culminating in perhaps the world’s most socially awkward hero complex. His mantra is rather concerning: He’ll resolve to stomp out whatever it is that ails you, and then he’ll stomp you too if you don’t cut that shit out.

(List Form: Anxious, Awkward, Temperamental, Studious, Irritable, Unconfident)

Personal History
Born and raised a good wholesome Christian in Kawasaki, Mifune was taught by his parents, two respected members of clergy, to subscribe to two particular, foundational tenets of life, the combination of which, in hindsight, gave him no small degree of anxiety; one) good things happen to good people and two) if bad things happened to good people, it happened for some special reason. Everywhere Mifune looked, however, was empirical evidence that something was horrifically wrong about those twin pillars.

The kind, smiling girl who spilled her coffee upon her book-of-the-week. The lady priest who broke her leg falling to the brook during prayer. The myriad property damages and injuries inflicted by villainy and all its collateral damage. It occurred to Mifune that his parents must have left some third tenet out, something to make sense of the arbitrary nature of ‘bad things’. Young Mifune dreaded the day-to-day, plagued by the thought that he was no more or less likely than anybody else to fall prey to calamity. He found that, in his waking moments, the world spun around him, every person and object around him a risk, a chance - factors he couldn't control. Factors that endangered him, themselves, everything.

And so, Mifune resolved himself to being in a position where he could do battle with that cruel, whimsical probability; he’d be a hero.

Character Development & Conceptualization
At the base level, he was initially conceived as very much the tropey Japanese delinquent character; sneering, temperamental, argumentative, combative and more than a little anti-social. While a slight set of those traits (namely, irritable, anti-social) has been retained over a day or two of brainstorming, his core motivation is now a sort of deconstruction of the hero complex (in this context, likely a tendency to meddle with everybody’s affairs, as ‘hero complex’ sort of has a different meaning to it in a hero roleplay), with Mifune being kind of… this socially awkward control freak and busybody that’s consumed with the notion that every single bad thing in the world will lead to catastrophe if not nipped in the bud.

Conceptually, he’s framed through this near-crippling anxiety, where the world seems to move too fast around him and even words of kindness strike him as this painfully abrasive static. He struggles to maintain a certain control in this world of unbearable tempo, attempting to do so with a readily raised fist and short fuse.

As the character develops, the idealized route will be for him to embrace the way of the world; to be comfortable in doing the best he can, yet also knowing that there’s a time for him to accept ceding control. With less specificity, as it’d be a bit presumptuous to assume how things will unfold but, the general theme will be: how to get by, more or less, without going crazy (and with, ostensibly, a little help from his friends; being able to transition from a not entirely personable dude to a real, tight friend with some semblance of nuance is a particular goal here).

The quirk, and my intent to develop the quirk (and the way he uses it) will likely serve as a bit of a microcosm of his overall character development. The quirk lends itself to a manner of subduing villains that isn’t near as a violent as a closed-fist smackdown; Mifune will likely transition from hooligan-level beat-down brawling to a more ‘zen’, ‘open palm, gentle-fist’ kind of martial arts. Eventually being able to go ‘full cowl’ and envelop himself fully in his pink feathers will be some very general, typical depiction of him being fully comfortable, of blossoming in the world, should that indeed come to pass.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Transformation.

Quirk Description
Mifune possesses a Transformation-quirk known as [Feather Boa], and is able to morph his hair into feathers of pink, and also grow said feathers from his numerous follicles. The feathers are coated with an agent that incites sensations of tickling, provided it makes contact with exposed skin. Said sensations begin as a light, if incessant, feeling (like the constant running of a feather over one’s skin), and increases given prolonged or repeated contact, to the point of debilitating. Mifune is himself immune to the effects of the agent, and is thus able to handle his feathers if he so chooses, being able to remove them from his person.

Currently, he lacks a certain degree of fine control with his transformation, being primarily limited as a matter of breadth and fluidity. He is able to manifest, through a short but telegraphed sequence of exertion, up to two patches of feathers (each with roughly the surface area of a limb) at a time, with the generation of a new patch causing the previous ones to revert or recede. It is also known that he needs to remain well hydrated in order to make the most of his quirk; failure to do so decreases the potency of the agent, and, at times, may cause the feathers to emerge bereft of the substance.

Other Talents & Attributes
Uchimura Mifune is a decent enough ‘brawler’, which is more simply to say he’s above-par for his age when it comes to size, strength, coordination and athleticism, enough to make up for his lack of technique or training when against middling competition.

Otherwise, Mifune is rather adept at rout memorization, which carries him in most of his more bookish endeavors. He is also incredibly handy, almost prodigious when it comes tasks like furniture assembly and quick plumbing fixes.

Personal Dossier

Name
Kumonosu Seikatsu
生活 クモの巣

Age
Fifteen

Origin
Osaka, Osaka

Physical Description
Standing at a lanky 178 centimetres and weighing a measly 57 kilograms, Seikatsu is one to stand out, much to his dismay. His abnormally green, frazzled hair doesn't help him much, but he likes the color, and can't be assed to change it. Droopy eyes of pink give way to an assumption of tiredness, save for when he offers a curt smile and that drowsiness turns to contentedness. Features of note are his oddly large hands. While he doesn't dislike them, he certainly wishes they wouldn't attract such attention. Hard to wallow through life as a leaf when people constantly want to compare hand sizes with you.

Characterization
They say an object at rest stays at rest. Such is true for Seikatsu. He prefers not to move if he doesn't have to, claiming life will take him wherever it deems necessary he go. Call him an apathetic philosopher and you'll have pretty much summarized his entire personality. Seikatsu is, by all definitions of the word, boring. Bland is another good word of choice. He doesn't do much, and this has led him to have very few friends, and those he does have are self-proclaimed. While he doesn't dislike company, he does prefer to be alone, a preference which led him to move out on his own under special circumstances.

Not a heartless being, Seikatsu isn't against helping people, and will often lend a hand to those in need if it isn't too much trouble. Much like his father, he's also fascinated with the vast variety of quirks present in the world, though he finds it would be bothersome to confront people about their abilities. He's a curious bugger with the lack of enthusiasm to satiate said curiosity. He also happens to be a genius, but being the humble guy he is, he doesn't present that fact as anything particularly special about himself.

Personal History
Seikatsu grew up an only child, and was thus afforded most of anything he wanted, his father being a researcher that studied quirks, his mother a gardener. As a result of the lack of interaction training he'd have most likely gotten had he had siblings, he became a bit unsociable. Opting to stay inside and read books and play whatever video games were good enough to pique his interest, Seikatsu grew up to be quite the loner. His parents feared for what this would mean for his future, and tried to push him into socializing with others. His apathetic nature made making any real progress difficult, and the parents gave up their resolve. As long as he was happy, they concluded.

In school, Seikatsu was little less than a genius. While he found studies boring, his near perfect memory allowed him to nail material upon learning it a single time, and simply recall it whenever test time came around. Rather than bully him, students often came up to him asking for help with their classwork. These "why not" study sessions were the little socialization Seikatsu took part in, and are what led him to make the few self-proclaimed friends he has. Shortly after his 15th birthday, Seikatsu moved out, claiming to want to try living on his own for a while. He currently works as a library's assistant to make his living wages, though he of course still receives some money from his parents, albeit reluctantly.

You're probably wondering why such an apathetic person would want to become a hero. It's quite simple, really. When a flyer advertising enrollment for Ishin Academy smacked him dab in the face as he was walking home one day, he assumed life was telling him this was the path for him to take. Call him impulsive, but that's his reason. His parents also encouraged him a bit, seeing this as an opportunity for him to make some actual friends. Most hero schools were keen on promoting teamwork, which would force the apathetic boy out of his shell.

Character Development & Conceptualization
Over the course of the roleplay, I hope to take Seikatsu out of his comfort zone, putting him into situations that force him to demonstrate anything other than unfiltered apathy. I want to push him in the direction to where he can see someone as a true friend, and not just someone he tolerates because "why not".

Because of his impulsiveness, I'm also aiming to give him personal direction in life — setting goals for himself that aren't just actions taken because he believes it's where life is pointing him, but because they're things he genuinely wants to do.

In addition, I want to open his eyes about what it means to be a hero; that one can't simply be one because something or someone is telling them to. That there has to be a desire, a drive, to be one. A drive that, without, the path he's taken is a road to failure.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Emitter

Quirk Description
Seikatsu's quirk, Living Web, allows him to generate webbing from any orifice on his body. The speed with which the webbing is generated is dependent on his focus. The thread is also surprisingly durable, proving itself capable of withstanding the average karate chop. Blunted sharp objects may also have a hard time severing it. Seikatsu wears special shoes that are resistant to the stickiness of the webs, so as to not hinder himself if he were to ever cover the ground with it as a defensive strategy.

Other Talents & Attributes
As mentioned before, Seikatsu possesses genius level intellect, and is also quite the strategist. However, he's also a bit frail, having not bothered to train himself much physically. As a result, he relies more on being nimble, thanks to his slender, albeit tall, figure. He's capable of solving a Rubik's Cube in around 5 seconds. As a side note, and oddly enough, Seikatsu has a bit of a dislike for spiders, despite his quirk being related to them.

Name
Watanamiya Rikuo

Age
15

Origin
Fujidera, Osaka

Physical Description
Rikuo, true to his artistic nature, has gone wild with his own appearance. He dyed his brown hair blond only a few days before entering the academy, and his eyes are a bright orange - though that is natural. His hair is naturally messy as he doesn't bother fixing it up as it just takes more time off that what is needed. Despite what most would think, Rikuo has a lean and athletic body. He carries himself with confidence and assumes his full height of 5'6" and seems to be growing taller by the year.

Characterization
Rikuo is a highly individualistic person who doesn't go with a decision if he doesn't want to. He couldn't care less about what others think of him nor does he have any wish to do so in the near future. He's rather confident about himself, his talents and what he is right now and doesn't let anyone put him down. While his stubborness isn't as prevalant as others where he won't back down, it would take a lot of time to convince him to think another way once he's rooted himself in an opinion. Though he can be more easily swayed if he considers you a good friend as he trusts his friends to know what is best for him.

While he isn't quick to call people 'good friends', he considers acquaintances whom he talked to for a few times his friends as well. He is friendly and approachable when he isn't absorbed in painting or drawing. He can easily strike up conversation with anyone as long as they are willing. He tries to make as many friends as he can since it's rather nice to have people around. Though sometimes, he has a tendency to put people off when he starts to speak. He has little to no mind to mouth filter and he says the truth about what he feels. He doesn't believe in white lies. The cold and harsh truth is where he's always been as he grew up being faced with critiques who tell him everything without even thinking of his feelings. So much so that he feels like it is the normal thing to do.

Rikuo has always wanted to try out new things, whether it be bad for him or not. He would decide that once he's tried it but would rarely reject a new idea before he could attempt to do it. This can lead to a lot of trouble, and he wholeheartedly accepts that. But at least he can say that he's done it once. Though he does have some semblance of common sense and would reject those that go against his moral compass, but those are few in between. He doesn't seem to care much for rules implented by outside sources, which can cause a lot of friction with the higher ups.

Personal History
Not much can be said for Rikuo's past that is different from the others. Living in Fujidera wasn't the most exciting of things and having two parents with quirks who never thought to use it for the betterment of society led to Rikuo's life being incredibly stale and boring. His only escape was painting and this led him to places far beyond what he has imagined. With the child's painting being put up in children art competitions, he has been given chances to go and see the other parts of Japan.

When he was 10 and in Tokyo for another competition, he had witnessed a battle between a hero and a villain. Thoroughly impressed and inspired, he decided he wanted to become a hero - leaving his artistic career behind in favor of training for a hero school. His parents weren't happy with this, but soon came to accept it. He wanted to become a hero people looked up to and inspired others, and he planned to not let anything stop him from fulfilling this dream.

Character Development & Conceptualization
I wanted to play around with the impulsive and easygoing type of character and admittedly this type of quirk as well. It clicked when I saw that Ishin Academy is strict about discipline and I want to see how a character who's always been 'free' would feel and act once the shackles come on. I'd also like to see how others would percieve him as, considering his personality and how they'd come to accept or reject him because of how he doesn't go with the flow of the people if it doesn't either benefit or interest him.

I also want to see how long he will hold out once he sees and undergoes the training needed to become a hero. He stuck with art for so long because of how he was a natural at it. His training as a child was basic, something he could actually do without much effort, but faced against this, his dream as a hero might waver or might seem too distant for him. I want to see how I could push him to put a lot more effort and a lot more time into being a hero - or maybe someone could guide him along the way. Someone he can potentially bond with, or even just look up to, so that he would continue with his dream.

He also needs to be very fluid for his quirk to work and I want to see him train and develop his quirk more into something useful. For now, he's more of a long range, support type of role when it comes to fights. Though eventually, I do plan on him becoming a sort of hit and run type of character. His quirk can also become useful to those who can manipulate that kind of substance, and would most likely provide others with it should they need to also use their quirks for maximum advantage.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Emitter

Quirk Description
His quirk has been aptly named Artistic Dream, a combination of his parents' quirks which allows him to secrete paint from his arms to hands. He can then freely control this created paint - hardening them and using them as a flying projectile or as a weapon. He's been shown to be able to paint without a canvas - instead using his quirk to paint on air itself. As paint is a rather thick substance, the flow of secretion is slow which causes him to be conservative when it comes to fast paced fighting. Equipment could aid in preventing him from running out of paint to use.

His paint is rendered useless once it makes contact with something solid. It dries up rather quickly and he cannot pull it out once its there. He can also control the paint he produces around a twenty meter radius around him and while that is far, the further it goes, the harder it is to fluidly control it like he can when it's close to him.

Other Talents & Attributes
Artist - He has some form of natural talent when it comes to painting, or even simple sketches. While he had been good enough to get into contests, he's only won a few so he isn't that good.

Household Chores - Having two parents who work until the wee hours of the night, it was natural that he would become good at doing his own chores and buying his own things.

Photographic Memory - One of the reasons why he paints well, in his reasons, is because he can remember things well. He can 'capture' a moment in time and be able to recreate that in his paintings. So long as he makes an effort to do so, he can remember things rather easily.

Personal Dossier

Name
Kenzo Osamu

Age
15

Origin
Aomori, Aomori Prefecture, Japan

Physical Description
Osamu is 172cm tall (5’8”) and possesses a well-toned physique. Osamu makes a point of having his black hair cut short and made presentable, and would never be seen in anything short of the neatest, if unimaginative, clothing. Due to his generally stoic demeanour, Osamu maintains an intense expression on his face at almost all times, even if he doesn’t mean to.

Characterization
Stoic
Co-operative
Cautious
Polite
Dedicated
Driven
Prejudiced

Personal History
Osamu is the son of Miura Kenzo, a politician known for his conservative, nationalistic and nigh-bigoted beliefs. Their family has a history of military service, and Miura prides himself on being descended from someone who fought and died in the name of his country. As a child, Osamu didn’t pay much attention to his father’s politics. While he never opposed him, he never really took his fiery words to heart. Rather than seeking to follow in his father’s footsteps, he wanted to become a Hero like many young boys. One notion he did take from his father was a disdain for U.A. and many mainstream heroic institutions. Partly due to being a graduate of Ishin Academy, Miura was highly critical of the frivolousness of modern heroes, believing they should serve the public interest rather than compete for rankings. The youthful idealist in Osamu agreed, and he vowed to be a man that looked out for others rather than seeking personal gain.

As a young teenager, Osamu had a close knit group of friends. Every one of them entertained aspirations of heroism, but not all of them had much talent for it. Osamu, however, considered it his mission to try and help his fellows make the best of themselves, and always invited them to join him in learning martial arts. Miura was initially supportive of Osamu’s group, and even paid for lessons for those that could not afford it. However, when the group came to include two Zainichi Koreans, siblings named Joji and Jun, Miura became immediately hostile. He counseled Osamu to disassociate with them, spewing all sorts of hateful rhetoric. For the first time in his life, Osamu openly defied his father, refusing to cut ties with his new friends.

Osamu continued to visit his friends until one day when his wallet went missing. It happened at a time when he had been with the Zainichi siblings and a few others. When they were unable to find it, Osamu’s father was quick to suggest one of the siblings had stolen it. Osamu naturally refused to believe it, and defended him to his father’s face. Going behind Osamu’s back, Miura arranged for the police to investigate the sibling’s house, and found the wallet in Joji’s room. Osamu initially didn’t want to believe it, but after neither sibling had been prepared to speak with him since, and with his father constantly speaking bile into his ear, Osamu resigned himself to the situation. He grew alienated from his friends, and spent some time in relative isolation.

Eventually, Osamu got over himself, and resolved that whatever the case was, he still had a dream to live up to. While a great deal of his idealism had died of late, he still wanted to be a hero that would do right by somebody, if not everyone. He threw himself back into his martial arts and exercise, preparing for the day that he would make his debut at Ishin Academy in earnest.

Character Development & Conceptualization
After reading through the premise, I felt that this school could use at least one character that is in line with the spirit of the school. Osamu is based on a character I have made before, though heavily adapted to fit the setting. Obviously, the character could be described as ever so slightly racist, though hopefully not to a degree that people will find distasteful. I hope to express Osamu’s prejudices in a subtle fashion, rather than having him be a caricature that runs around shouting slurs. Naturally, I’m expecting to have his prejudices challenged in due time, though as in all things, it remains to be seen what the exact result of his experiences will entail.

In spite of his prejudices, Osamu is still intended to be a mostly good person. He will try to help others and breed a sense of camaraderie among his peers. This will be subject to change depending on the demeanour of those he finds himself around, but barring any overwhelming hostility, he will likely try to become something of a leader among those that will allow him to. In regards to those who aren’t fully or even partially Japanese, he will be inclined to politely maintain a distance from them until otherwise encouraged to overcome his aversion to them.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Emitter

Quirk Description
The quirk is named Rising Sun, and it entails absorbing solar energy and storing it in Osamu’s body until it needs to be used. Osamu can use it by ejecting it from his hands in a concentrated form, allowing him to, for example, create searing beams of solar power. These attacks naturally create intense light, and are harmful to look at directly. However, concentrated attacks tend to drain Osamu’s reserves quite quickly, and the energy charges fairly slowly even in direct sunlight, hence Osamu tends to favour smaller, less flashy uses of his power.

One crippling disadvantage to his power is the fact that he cannot recharge it at night or in any location where the sun’s rays cannot reach him. While energy can be stored and kept until a time where he needs it, it will be quickly drained and unable to replenish if he were to use it liberally under those circumstances.

Other Talents & Attributes
Trained Martial Artist: Ever since he was young, Osamu wanted to learn martial arts in order to be better as a Hero. Encouraged by his father, Osamu spent much time over his formative years learning Judo. He is not only skilled in said martial art, but has also reaped the benefits of the regular exercise associated with it.

Amateur Tactician: Learning of his families’ military history from his father, Osamu became interested in military tactics after reading more about it. While you probably wouldn’t want to put him in charge of a military unit just yet, you might find he’ll come up with an inspired idea from time to time.

Personal Dossier

Name
Katō Takara
加藤財

Age
15

Origin
Tokyo

Physical Description
A short girl by trade, Takara stands at an astounding 4’8”. Her eyes are a simple brown, but they’re a bit big for her face. All around, she is plain on the outside. Beyond this, a Chinese ancestry shows subtly in her chin and nose among an otherwise pure Japanese face.

Her body is stronger than it looks, especially given her short stature. Her width is obvious, but there’s a certain discipline to it that’s evident. Takara’s legs are exceptionally strong, having trained them for an optimal Tachi-ai. On top of this, she is faster than she looks, and tends to be slightly stronger than most kids her age.

Characterization
Brave
Careless
Dumb
Dreamer
Hard Worker
Optimistic
Solipsistic
Super Secretly Cynical
Personal History
Takara was born to Katō Yuuta and Miho, a semi-famous Sumo wrestler and a teacher, respectively. She has a strong relationship with both of her parents, and while she admires her father more, she feels that she knows her mother better.

When she was young, Takara wanted to pursue her father’s career choice of wrestler, though between her quirk and the traditional rules of Sumo, that was out of the question from the start. While her father didn't exactly approve, he liked having his daughter look up to him and taught him what he felt he could. She received some minor bullying because of it, but her Sumo moves allowed her to make quick work of most opponents, and she quickly became respected by her youngest peers. Her tough (stubborn) spirit and her heroic (hot-headed) attitude were traits she had been given by her father, and she used them often. Little Takara, unfortunately, only realized that it was a pipe dream when she was twelve.

After that, she died down a little bit. She got through school fine enough without much incident except from a less-than-a-few less-than-favorable grades. Her worst offense was sneaking off to see an underground Sumo event. Her mother scolded her for obvious reasons, but she understood well enough and helped Takara where she needed it. Through Takara's slump, her mother helped her and is the sole reason that Takara enrolled at Ishin Academy. Studying for it was harsh, and she would have preferred one of the "nicer" schools, but she figured that if she couldn't make her parents proud through Sumo, she'd make them proud by being a hero, and so she put in the work to study. She was a little slow, and had to really work at understanding the concepts, but combined with the help of her mother and more than a few weeks of working at it, she managed to scrape together enough of an understanding to get in. Barely.

Character Development & Conceptualization
As she is now, Takara's one of those kids who has only one real interest and that's all she knows how to talk about. Her identity is focused on one big aspect, Sumo, but at the root of this obsession is a fear of disappointing others, or even worse, disappointing herself. She shifts this lens onto becoming a hero in an attempt to make sense of it without calling her motives into question, and as a result, she boils things down to a simple game.

Takara has yet to mature enough to the point of understanding that other people don't share her motives. She believes that if she wants something, everyone wants it and it's right. She has poor teamwork skills and tries to take the lead, but her lack of wit makes her less than optimal for such a role. She works hard but hardly works, only putting in any real amount of effort if she thinks it'll benefit her in some way. Those who openly disagree with her earn her ire. Her dimwitted nature combined with her bullheadedness means that she is constantly at odds with figures of authority. Worse still, the girl has yet to develop the self-awareness required to realize that she projects herself onto others.

Her desire to take on competitors in Sumo, coupled with her careless attitude and her sinkhole optimism, see Takara wanting to take on any and all challengers. She does not consider such big concepts like her duties to humanity, she does not quite register that saving lives is an important and morbid reality of the hero, nor does she consider that stopping a villain is a moral dilemma that could have bigger implications than simply winning. Her actions are rooted in her own desire for glory and sportsmanship above all else, and she does not quite grasp the risk of the world. Heroes and villains are just sides to take (wrestlers to cheer on), she figures, and she does not think of the moral implications of a thought like that. The words of bad guys and good guys is showmanship and little else in her mind. Takara has yet to develop an identity outside of Sumo, and this is the only lens she is capable of seeing the world through.

As time goes on, Takara is intended to mature past these views. Ideally, she sees the error of her ways and learns to practice her brain as much as her body, or at the very least accepts that the reigns of command be handed over to someone else. Instead of looking inside and calling it outside, she will learn to separate the two things and think about the impacts of her actions. Most importantly, she will learn that Sumo isn't the only aspect of her which exists, nor is it even the most important aspect - she will learn that there is more to a person's actions than mere showmanship, perhaps jading her worldview a bit.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Transformation

Quirk Description
Matroyshka allows Takara to disconnect her upper and lower body from one another, allowing a secondary, smaller, Takara to come out. This Second Takara can do the same thing. The Third one, however, is too small to contain another Takara, and despite Takara's best efforts, cannot seem to open her up. Doing this is painless, but she frequently finds her midsection cramping, and she has some spinal problems from it.

Each of these mini-Takaras are like a pinky toe in terms of control. They are incapable of acting autonomously, and will stand around doing nothing unless Takara concentrates on animating them. Recombining her upper and lower body is a taxing feat on its own, and there is some hollow space within her (as a result, she can hide small objects inside of her). She can make the the mini-Takaras move, but like her pinky toe, she can only make it move if she moves her other parts too. As an extension of her body, she can see/hear/smell/taste/feel/etc. what her miniatures do, but it is often disorientating for her to decipher what is going on.

A side-effect of this Quirk is that each of the mini-Takaras require just as much nourishment as the big Takara. Gaining weight is difficult for her, and she is essentially eating for three people. The more weight she is able to gain, the bigger they grow, and she suspects that if she were to eat enough, she could grow a fourth Takara. Strangely, her physiology is fine (if not odd in its arrangement). When she is not controlling them, they "fall asleep" in the same way as a foot, and she has to stretch them to prevent that prickly feeling which occurs during such an incident.

Oddly enough, when she sneezes, all of her miniatures sneeze with her.

Other Talents & Attributes

  • Takara can Cook A Mean Chankonabe. That's about it.
  • Takara knows a lot of Sumo Moves. She is a decent fighter because of this, but even more than that, uses her vast knowledge of Sumo to formulate her strategies and adapt in a physical confrontation.
  • Takara is Tough. Really, she can take a pretty hefty punch for a 4'8" 15 year old.

Personal Dossier

Name
Adachi Chen

Age
15

Origin
Tokyo, Japan

Physical Description
Chen has always been on the skinnier side, not anorexic but not buff either. He doesn't have any muscles to speak of really, but he more than makes up for it with his striking features. With mysterious purple eyes and hair that is black in some areas and greyish in others, he catches the attention of anyone in the room. He stands at about 5'4, a little shorter than his peers but not by much. He tends to stand out in a crowd due to the sheer energy that seems to radiate off of him. Everything about him screams confidence, from the casual smirk he constantly wears to way he holds himself straight no matter what.

Characterization
Chen is the epitome of cocky bastard, believing himself to be the best of the best no matter what anyone else says. He's not a complete asshole however, he's actually pretty nice to most people. He just doesn't think they could ever compare to him when it comes to Quirks. He basks in the attention of others, so he regularly puts himself in the spotlight. Chen especially loves when people compliment him, feeding his ego is the best way to get on his good side.

Chen isn't delusional though, he recognizes that he needs to obey figures of authority such as other heroes and teachers even if he doesn't think they are as good as him. He even respects a select few people as being even greater than he is. And once someone has become his friend, he would be willing to do almost anything to help them out of any tight situations they've found themselves in. However depending on the situation he may or may not make fun of them the whole time while doing so.

A weird little quirk of his is that he's actually incredibly messy. His room looks like a tornado ran through it on a regular basis and his handwriting is on the verge of being unreadable at times. It's why he prefers to type essays rather than write them.

Personal History
Chen Adachi was born on a cold December night a few weeks before Christmas in the middle of a crowded Tokyo hospital. His mother could turn her fingers into knives and his father could heat up anything he touched. Thus Chen was born with a strange combination of the two quirks, he could make anything he touched incredibly sharp. This made growing up interesting to say the least, he quickly learned to be very careful while eating to say the least. He became very careful while doing everything actually.

Growing up in such a large city meant he needed to have money to have fun, unfortunately his family never really had the money for him to go out and do those kinds of things. Instead he decided to become as outgoing and confident as possible in order to get free stuff, because that's how it works on TV right? It never really worked out for him, but he doesn't regret it. Being confident is a plus in his mind, plus he has reason to be confident.

His want for cash never really faded though, and as he watched a boring commercial on TV he realized something. Mot of these commercials starred heroes. That means they got payed to be in the commercials. Chen rushed to his mom with a sparkle in his eyes to ask if he could apply for a hero school, she looked so proud of him. And here we stand today, as he is being accepted into one of the most prestigious schools in the country.

Character Development & Conceptualization
I think the most important thing I want to do with Chen is to teach him what heroes really do. He somewhat understands that heroes save people for a living and fight the bad guys, but in the end he's only doing it to make cash and be famous. He wants to be a hero solely for himself, which isn't going to work in the long run.

I also want to break him of his arrogance, as he believes that he's better than everyone else his age. I also want to develop his powers so that anything he touches continues to be sharp even while he's not touching it and so that the sharpness only continues to increase. Right now he has to be in constant contact with whatever the object is in order to make it sharp and the hardest thing he can cut through at the moment is a small rock.

The primary goal for Chen as a person day to day would probably be for him to just stop acting so much better than the others. It drives a lot of people away and he's never had too many friends because of it. Hopefully he can make some friends who can teach him the value of humility.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Emitter

Quirk Description
With his Whetstone, Chen can make anything he touches incredibly sharp, sharp enough to cut through solid rock in a single swing. A thin psionic field is formed around the object in question, making the object sharper. The level of sharpness decreases depending on the size of the object, where as a blunt baseball bat could become as sharp as a mass produced sword, something the size of a desk would barely become any sharper. On the other hand, something small like gloves on his hands would reach the maximum sharpness he could produce. However there are hidden depths to his powers that he is completely unaware of.

Other Talents & Attributes
Is very good at sleight of hand tricks and juggling. There are many things that can be juggled, so it made for decent entertainment when he didn't have the money to go out. One of his old past times was going to the arcade to play fighting games, so he's not too shabby at those either.

Personal Dossier

Name
Yumi 'Isami' Camilla

Age
15

Origin
California, San Francisco

Physical Description
Camilla is a tall, energetic, and cheery girl, standing at around 5'8 or 9, with dark tan skin, a surprisingly fit and toned physique(gained from many years of having a mother obsessed with healthy eating and a father that is equally obsessed with physical fitness), bright blue eyes, and more purplish-pink hair than she knows what to do with. She also has long, elf-like ears which she is able to wiggle or move at will, and often does so in accordance with her mood. She can be a bit self-conscious about this particular trait, as she finds it beyond embarrassing, and it can also allow those who know her to easily tell what she's feeling or if she's trying to lie(though she's a bad liar anyway without the obvious tell). While her eyes are natural, one of the many traits she shares with her mother, her hair has been dyed just about every color under the sun, and will likely be dyed many more times in the future. A fan of self-expression with her body as a canvas, one will often find a create deal of her body covered in intricate Henna-styled designs, taking advantage of her 'second-skin' to easily cover herself in a number of designs, then get rid of them for the next day. When she goes all out, it often takes her literal hours to get ready because of this.

Speaking of getting ready, if allowed to her own devices, Camilla will often try to dress lightly, using light, sometimes semi-transparent fabrics in order to better show off her designs, as well as simple jewelry. When it comes to winter wear, she often prefers light colored peacoat jackets, patterned shawls, and cardigans along with boot-cut jeans. She normally brings quite the wardrobe with her where ever she goes, but knowing the type of atmosphere of Ishin, she's only brought her most conservative clothing options. It's a bit of a drag, but she really wants to get into the school her father learned to become a hero in, and just the fact that she's from the states already puts a major uphill battle for her to gain any sort of recognition or acceptance in the school.

Characterization
Chipper. Ambitious, Playful, Determined, Artistic, Open-minded, Honest

Personal History
Camilla wants to be a hero, just like her dad. It has been her dream for as long as she can remember, even though many in her family didn't feel the same. her mother, while seemingly supportive, often mentioned all the dangers the profession holds, having treated more professional heroes and idealistic vigilantes than she can count at her local hospital, in subtle attempts to dissuade her from it. Her 3 older siblings all respected the profession well enough, but for much of her life, none of them really took her words seriously, and sometimes even mocked her for it as she tried to beat them up with a sparkly pink hand, her quirk barely manifested and as such, nothing special. The other students in her class laughed and made fun, telling her that she was delusional, that she needed to realize that it wasn't going to happen. But through all the teasing and name-calling, one person never doubted her, never mocked, her, and never, ever asked her to give up on her dream.

Takeo Yumi, her father, never once told his daughter that she couldn't have what she wanted. instead, he forced her to prove how badly she wanted it. Throughout her childhood, he put her through as intense a training session as he could with her age, pushing her harder and harder, telling her that nothing would get easier, that no one would help her when it was time to help villains. She was the help for the helpless, the savior for the meek, and in order to be that symbol, in order to be a hero, she needed to prove to him that she had the resolve to make her own way in the world. Especially if she wanted to go to the school he had gone as a child.

The training was grueling for her, even if her father allowed her enough time between sessions to let her still have some semblance of a social life, not wanting his daughter to become a complete workaholic like he had been at her age. But she made it through, never once settling, never once letting herself thing "this is enough." She worked to build herself up to his standards, working hard to excel in both school and training, even if it came at the sacrifice of making any truly close friends due to just how busy her schedule could be and how one-track her focus was. Eventually, the day came where she was to take the test to join Ishin, her father pulling some strings and calling in some favors from his time back in Japan's hero industry in order to get her even the slightest chance. She was respectful and courteous, taking every slight hint of disapproval or prejudice against her with complete composure, though if she was honest with herself, her heart had felt like it would explode in that harrowing environment.

What followed was several weeks of mind-bending anxiety, nervousness, and stress eating . . . and a single moment of pride, relief and intense anxious energy as she opened up a letter from Ishin(written in Kanji of course) telling her that she had been accepted. As happy she was, and as hard as her family celebrated the occasion, she didn't let it get to her head. She had yet to truly make it as a hero.

She had only gotten her foot in the door, but the path before filled her with equal parts excitement as they did nervous, stomach dread. Whatever the case was, she would face it head on, as best she could.

Character Development & Conceptualization
The first, and probably most obvious, intent for my character is exploring having a non-native character trying to make her way in such a system that is so intent on either seeing her fail or not even letting her participate in the first place. I like the idea of it being her against the system, and want to play off the differences in cultural norms a bit as well. Playing the stranger in a strange land trope is something I haven't ever gotten the chance to do before, and one of the main reasons I decided to make things harder on my character by making her have such a target on her back, at least when it comes to dealing with the system.

I'm trying to develop her as a bit of a counter-point to what you'd expect of a character like her. On the surface, she seems very cute, bubbly, and focused on aesthetics, yet there's a practical side to her as well, a willingness to get her hands dirty with hard work and dedication in order to get what she wants. She feels the style is just as important a feature for being a hero as the deeds that the hero does, because as a hero, one is held up to certain expectations. If you only focus on the actions you take and not on how people take them, then you could unknowingly be setting a bad example for who knows how many people that follow in your footsteps. A big part of BNHA themes has to do with how each of the character's view heroism, and for Camilla, her main reason for wanting to be a hero seems simple("I want to look cool just like my dad!"), but the meaning behind those words are a lot deeper. She wants to be cool like her dad because her dad's coolness inspired her to be a hero, and she wants to inspire others in the same way.

Her quirk, odd as it is, helps in that through it she embraces both her sense of practicality and her sense of style without having to really give up anything between the two. The versatility of the micro-organisms that make up her second skin allows her to form strong, durable materials that can withstand a lot of punishment, while also keeping the flowing henna-inspired designs she works into them with just a thought. Ability-wise, I hope for her to eventually learn to spread the armor over her whole body, and possibly even learn to shape it into different forms, like blades, claws, or tendrils. I think there's a lot of ways I can take this symbiote-like idea for if I push myself creatively, and what is a BNHA rp if not a place to try something different and interesting.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Transformation(?).

Quirk Description
Second Skin
Camilla's quirk is definitely one of the more odd ones out there. Instead of the normal mess of different germs, organisms, and bacteria that cover every living being, Camilla is covered and protected by a strange strand of micro-organism unique to her and her alone. Mixing her mom's quirk, which also has to do with the control of micro-organisms, and her father's quirk, which is a defensive enhancement quirk, she can form a type of armor around herself that increases both her strength(enough to put a crack in concrete) and durability(could take a bullet mid-caliber bullet)..

As of the now, she can only form this armor on two of her limbs or her entire torso, the armor taking on a flowing organic look, usually matching the color of her hair and whatever Henna design she decided to apply on that given day. As such, while her entire body gets a slight reinforcement, which is needed to handle the strain, the majority of the strength is located where the armor is covering, and in the case of her torso being covered, she can't really exert the increased strength since it's focused entirely on her abdominal muscles. Another drawback and weakness to her quirk are that the micro-organisms that make up her armor react very badly to anti-bacterial agents, causing it to weaken and sometimes fall apart instantly if the chemical is strong enough. Not only that but because her quirk also serves as such a strong defense against many forms of bacteria, when it's down, she tends to get sick pretty easily, as her own immune system is rather under-developed. It's rare for her to stay sick for that long, as the organisms grow back within a day or so and are constantly beating down encroaching bacteria and virus, it still sucks pretty hard. She's had to get a ton of vaccines throughout her life as a result of this, and along with other check-ups to see if there's a way to work around the problem so she doesn't end up catching anything serious or life-threatening. Her current goal for Quirk growth is both spreading the coverage and increasing the durability of her quirk.

Another attribute of her quirk, however, is that she can cause them to change shape and color in more subtle ways, and thus, often uses them as the basis of her Henna work instead of the actual pain, as it can't be as easily ruined, and even if it is, it takes literal seconds to fix it. She's also started trying to use her quirk to give herself more tattoo-like designs, but she's put the cork in that(mostly) upon coming to Ishin.

Other Talents & Attributes
Thanks to her older brother, Camilla is a cut above most other students she knows in that she's been trained in how to fight, using both the regular self-defense maneuvers, mixed in with her brother's MMA/Boxing style that focuses on landing heavy punches to vital areas to bring an opponent down quick, while using the legs once in a while for trips or kneeing people in the face when given the opportunity. She's also a rather skilled and flexible athlete, having been in both cheerleading and gymnastics("If anyone else tries to tell me cheerleading is not a sport, I swear to god they're going to be in for it.") and doing great in them, but never pursuing them that much due to her main desire to be a Hero. She considers herself a decent artist, focusing on intricate patterns in both henna, regular drawing, and has even taken a crack at knitting and embroidery once or twice, with . . . meh results. She's yet to truly do anything she considers her own yet, most of her work being semi-successfully attempts to copy that of others from tutorials online, but she's gotten pretty confident as of late and might get to making her own stuff soon.

Personal Dossier

Name
Tanaka Shun

Age
15

Origin
Okinawa, Japan

Physical Description
Always taller than most boys his age, Shun is big in all respects. Heavier, taller and darker skinned due to growing up on Okinawa, he sticks out like a sore thumb this far north. His dark brown hair is occasionally gelled up into a pompadour, and he walks around wearing a dumb grin on his face. Constantly wearing relaxed shirts and shorts, it’s a humorous sight to see him shivering as he walks outside between classes. But, as he says, ”The clothes are just part of who I am!”

Characterization
Earnest
Friendly
Honest
Helpful
Humorous
Lazy

Personal History
Shun was raised by his father, a racecar mechanic in Okinawa alongside three older brothers and a younger sister. Shun barely had any real memories of his mother, who was always "away on business" during his childhood. Her own work was kept secret in their household, as his father seemed particularly upset with his wife's career path. When Shun was 8, his mother was killed on one of her business trips, and his father became colder and more obsessed with work. Shun's more cheerful personality, something he seemed to inherit from his mother and grandmother, continued undaunted in these dark times, even masking his own sadness.

Whilst Shun's father and brothers all had the same quirk, Shun had inherited his mother's quirk: Overdrive. This seemed to create a further rift between Shun and his family, as he was still expected to assist with his family's business after school. In fact, up until his final year in middle school, Shun had never actually considered the hero course at all. During a class trip, one of Shun's classmates tripped over a railing, and Shun was able to grab her in time before she could fall. This was the first moment where Shun's homeroom teacher recommended he consider the hero course for high school, instead of going to a normal high school, and then to a technical school to get a degree in mechanics.

Shun's application process was an awkward series of misadventures. His scores were extremely average, and his aptitude with his quirk was pathetic. A month before his middle school graduation, Shun received a letter from Isshin Academy, a school he had not applied to (due to the sheer distance from home). His scores, quirk tests and interview all felt the same at every other school he applied for, and it all seemed hopeless.

And then he received his acceptance letter. Even without his father's blessing, Shun took the chance to pursue this odd career choice; based on both his teacher's recommendations and a serious conversation he had with his grandmother that same year...

Character Development & Conceptualization
Shun is a fun, relaxed and laidback character, and is meant to be an antithesis to the shonen protagonists that are so popular in the genre (and that I tend to roleplay all the time). Shun is relatively weak compared to his other classmates and has only made it this far due to his quirk’s abilities. The goal is to follow this lazy character that in any other medium be a background or punchline character and show how even someone like him can develop into an excellent hero. The other concept of his character is growing into his place as a hero and learning the truth behind some hidden family secrets. Dealing with the serious consequences of taking up a hero's mantle, as well as trying to live up to their ideals and expectations around those who knew them best is an interesting source of drama.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Emitter

Quirk Description
Many believe Shun’s quirk is based around simply charging up energy, but it’s a little more than that. Overdrive is simply Shun’s ability to store up kinetic energy, then release said kinetic energy any way he pleases. While he can do damage with his quirk, Shun’s greatest weakness is both in his physicality (out of shape) and in his ability to store the energy. It can take up to three minutes for Shun to charge up his quirk, leaving him both open to counter-attack and incapable of performing a rescue. However, when he releases his kinetic energy, he is capable of both extreme speed and strength.

Overdrive is a deeper quirk than simply kinetic storing; as Shun's mastery of his quirk increases, he will be able to sap potential energy from objects (trains, cars, bikes, moving debris, etc) as well as draw out reserves of energy, though this technique comes at a great cost.

Other Talents & Attributes
Shun is a brilliant gearhead and can tear apart most small electronics and vehicles if left to his own devices. As far as his own physical abilities, Shun has fallen behind throughout his school years. His attitude has always been focused on taking it easy and relaxing, which has stunted his potential physical growth. He also lacks any sort of great stamina, rendering long applications of his kinetic charge weak. Shun is also a master around a barbeque, in case anyone gets hungry out there in the snow.

Personal Dossier

Name

Hanamura Daiki

花村 大輝

Age

14

Origin

Aomori, Japan

appearance

Daiki appears and acts bigger than he actually is, Daiki Hanamura stands at a measly 156 cm (Or about 5'1") and weighing a surprising 53 kg (about 116 pounds), he is surprisingly fit and athletic for his age and size. The only odd thing about Daiki physically is his cat-like tail and his yellow eyes. When he is not in his school uniform or in his hero outfit he has a rather normal sense of fashion, often wearing jogging pants, a sweater (with cat ears sewed on), and running shoes. He knows how to sew and make his own clothes so if he wants to wear anything different he just makes it himself.

Characterization

Daiki has a cheerful, outgoing, and yet somewhat passive personality, which is normal for a young hero like him but there it is. He is a shameless flirt and flirts with damn near anybody who gives him the time of day. Daiki has a tendency to cry and get upset if something doesn’t go his way or if somebody rejects him, he is very emotional and is a crybaby, which doesn’t mix well, he cries at every intense emotion.

He is also apprehensive to engage in combat and prefers to use underhanded and sneaky manners of dealing with foes preferring to just mess with them than engage or defeat them in direct combat. But for his seemingly goofy and lighthearted nature, he is still a Pro-hero srudent who has gotten as far as he did by tricking stronger opponents and anybody who gets in his way to become a hero. He is a very smart person who has tricked and squirm up his way into Ishin Academy and using his persona as a “childish crybaby” to his advantage. He is very manipulative and scheming, but not foolhardy or evil, just dishonest, really. He is a compulsive liar.

Due to his compulsive lying, he changes his personality very slightly to adjust to each person he is talking to. He adds and drops traits like a hot potato to get to people's good graces or to get under people's skin. He is two-faced. No two people know the same Daiki. Which is why he prefers to talk to people in larger groups or by themselves. No talking to pairs for this guy! But for all of Daiki's faults he really does want to become a better person and has a wish to save and protect people. Especially people like him. But he doesn't know how to go about doing it which is why he wants to go to Ishin Acadmey hoping they can "fix" him.

Personal History

Daiki doesn't know his parents. As long as he could remember he was always in the foster care system down in Aomori. Even at a very young age Daiki had to help around his foster homes no matter how brief he stayed there. He often moved twice a year for six years. Daiki was a good kid all things considering, he never bullied others, argued, or even cause much trouble at all at both kindergarten and at his foster home. And when his quirk mundanely activated during a game of hide and seek, it didn't cause a huge difference in the young Daiki's life. While he was never abused or had his dreams crushed in an overt way, I mean, how could a dream be crushed if you don't have one? Daiki for most of his childhood was just too busy caring for others to focus on himself.

But that changed one day. Daiki learned to lie in elementary school and he was good at it. Daiki from then on lied about everything he could get away, he learned quickly the best lies to tell are the huge ones that people wouldn't expect to lie about, while little mundane lies are often caught and killed before they could be anything huge. Over the years Daiki became better and better at lying until he's tricked by his own lies at times. Daiki was a professional liar by the time he went to middle school. But it was also at this time he finally got a dream for himself.

He wants to become a pro-hero. Like everything else in his life at this point, this dream was born from a lie. He only said he wanted to become a Pro-hero because everybody else wanted to and he would be the weirdo if he didn't agree. So he lied and lied about becoming a Pro-hero who would save people with his [CatScan] Quirk, even though he didn't really wanted to at that point. But after some time thinking and keeping the lie alive he couldn't help but fall in love with the idea of being a Pro-hero. It took him longer to fall for the dazzle of pro-heroing but he did. After 11 years. Daiki knows if he wants to become a Pro-hero he needs to go to a Hero school and he had one in mind. But he needed to train hard and hone his quirk. And it was lucky for Daiki that lying for most of your life teaches you certain skills and the know how to manipulate others which is the only way he can make use of his quirk at this time. His greatest strength with his quirks is tactics and he aims to take full advantage of that.

For the next three years Daiki trained his quirk, his body, and mind as much as he could, as he lacks an offensively powerful quirk but his quirk is still extremely useful and powerful in an urban setting. Daiki knows he has to work twice as hard as most people to get accepted into Ishin academy with his quirk but he's determined to get in!

Character Development & Conceptualization

My vision for Daiki's growth as a character is that he start out as an extremely flawed character for pretty shallow reasons but I want him to become a good person and an excellent Hero because of good and deep reasons. I want him to improve.

Also due to his constant lying and generally being two-faced I am aiming for him to learn that his constant lying and avoiding the truth is more harmful than it does good to him. Since to him lying has become second nature and a comfort to him and I want him out of his comfort zone.

And finally I want him to learn that Ishin cannot simply "Fix" him without him playing an active, honest role in it. Currently, he assumes they will fix him magically which is impossible without his input. I want Daiki to learn to open up to others and let them help him.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type

Emitter

Quirk Description

Daiki has a Quirk called [Catscan], and it is a powerful quirk when used properly. When he activates his quirk his eyes become stilted like that of a cat and glow a pale yellow. [CatScan] Allow Daiki to scan (Think a mix of the byakugan and eagle vision in Assassin Creed) the immediate area of 55 m (or 180 feet), this scanning process gives Daiki information about his current location's layout and the location and distance of objects of interest (I.E People or large items) from where he's standing, he can pinpoint the exact distance by the inch. But now he can only do it for a few minutes at a time before his eyes start to hurt and get a headache from all the information being processed at once. He also can't move or lose focus while scanning at this time without getting dizzy and sick.

Other Talents & Attributes

Daiki due to his childhood he knows many homemaking skills, like sewing, Cooking, cleaning, taking care of children, gardening, and basic first aid, which is a mix bag of useful skills in the Pro-hero scene. But useful ones anywhere else.

Personal Dossier

Name
外村・手熱 (Gaimura Shuuatsu)

Age
14

Origin
Naha, Okinawa

Physical Description
Stands at 176 cm, incredibly skinny under his clothing, due to the large caloric requirements of his quirk. He's almost always seen eating when sitting down, and sometimes even when on the move, in spite of it being seen as rude. Shuuatsu tends to keep his clothing very tidy, avoiding any wrinkling or signs of wear. Carries himself in a relaxed manner, though he almost always stands up straight. He has a habit of dressing light most of the time, even if it's cold out. Smiles a lot.

Characterization
Shuuatsu is a very relaxed individual, who often finds himself lost in his own thoughts. Even in combat, he's always calm, though it's less due to mental diligence and more to a very lackadaisical outlook. That said, if he begins to speak about his hobbies, he gets very fired up and enthusiastic, often turning into a motormouth as a result.

Personal History
While living his entire life in Japan, Shuuatsu often felt like an outsider. He was born on a base of the US military in Okinawa to an American mother and an Okinawan fisherman. In childhood, he was often teased for looking like a foreigner, due to being only half Japanese. When he developed his quirk, he even began to feel estranged from his family, as it seemed completely disconnected from his mother's Radio and his father's Water Orb quirk. Due to his percieved isolation at home, and his actual isolation in society, he tried to become someone who was always happy, due to a lack of faith that anyone could ever accept him. As time went on, he so often wore the mask of a goofy, happy-go-lucky kid, that he forgot the reason he'd done it in the first place, and found that it just became his default.

As he grew up, he never really took much stock in heroes. The boy barely even knew they existed until the day he found himself ambushed by a small time villain with a quirk that he couldn't defend himself against with his quirk, and a hero saved him. While he was thankful, the hero didn't stand out to him until he saw a crowd begin to celebrate the hero. This struck a chord with the young boy, who thought he may have found a way to become accepted by those around him: Become a hero. Maybe then nobody would see him as an outsider.

Character Development & Conceptualization
I'd initially not had much in mind for development of this character, aside from his first name, which I ended up switching syllables on. I knew he was going to be a mutt, but as I read the description of the rp and wrote up his background, I started getting ideas. I know one of the major things to check off on his development is to break him out of the mask he's pretty much cemented over himself, and to realize that there are people like his family who do accept him regardless of how much of an outsider he is. Beyond that, there's development of him as a fighter, learning to use a quirk that seems pretty linear in new and creative ways. I think the standard coming of age thing is the biggest concept for him. I'll admit, I'm more go with the flow about development, so nothing is really set in stone.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Emitter

Hot Hand
Hot Hand allows him to raise the temperature of any part of his body. Shuuatsu can use the quirk to keep himself comfortable even in extreme cold. The upper limit of his heating is somewhere around 2000 degrees celcius, and if he heats too much his body can distort the air around him. He's able to localize the quirk to specific parts of his body or his entire body as he chooses, but his default is to heat his hands. Heated body parts have a tendency of glowing, red at lower temperatures, and white as he approaches his maximum capacity.

Hot Hand has a handful of drawbacks. The first is that as he uses it, many types of clothing simply can't handle the heat and burn up if he gets too high on the temperature. His quirk also burns a lot of energy, so it's difficult for him to put on weight, and is almost always eating in order to keep himself from getting starved by his own body.

Other Talents & Attributes
Non-quirk based abilities:
Shuuatsu is a trained karateka, having been raised on the island of Japan where the martial art was created. His voracious appetite has also led to him becoming an incredibly talented cook for his age.

Personal Dossier

Name
Chikyu Yuki

Age
14

Origin
Tokyo, Japan.

Physical Description
Yuki has a thin body type. His height is 5'5 and a weight count barely over 100lbs, giving him something over the skinny physique he has. And being the product of to vastly-different people, one could understand how his faint blond hair and dark golden eyes is a product of that. When it comes to his attire, he wears winter-themed clothing. He typically can is seen in silver jeans while wearing a black, long-sleeve shirt underneath, and an ice-hued coat. Around his neck, he has a pair of earmuffs.

Characterization
Yuki suffers from an identity crisis. Some see it as him simply being quirky, while those with an intuitive nature, especially those keen on spotting the idiosyncrasies of an individual, might be able to sense one who is suffering to find who they truly are. Yuki can’t decide for himself if he should be cold and distant like his father, or if being a social butterfly like his mother might be the way to go. As a result, he puts on these pseudo-masks of his parents in certain situations, which in turn creates two distinct personalities that are both what makes Yuki who he is (to others) and the sole cause for his inability to settle on a single personality he wants to have.

On one hand, Yuki will resemble his father almost to the point where it’s like his father is being manifested by Yuki himself. When he acts like his father, Yuki is often cold and dismissive of some, though never insulting or negative. He simply portrayed himself as a sort of distant teenager who retains all manners but isn’t very talkative, yet, when approached, there’s a sincere effort to be received well by the opposite party. To put it simply, Yuki’s cold persona is a nice boy who speaks only when it’s absolutely necessary.

But this is not his true personality.

So, then the other mask that he puts on is, to the most literal sense one could interpret, is a social, cheery, young man who smiles and greets everyone with a similar sincerity as when he would if he was donning his father’s personality. Only, in this case, instead of it being exclusive to when he’d be approached, Yuki’s the one who does the approaching. Every single word and action that comes from him is seemingly natural and it’s almost as if it comes second nature to him. The energy coming from him is equally approachable and unintimidating. Quite so, Yuki embodies his mother with all the ease in the world.

But this is not his true personality, either. None of what he does when embodying his parents is the true identity that Yuki longs for. The underlying theme in him is he seeks to have a personality and identity that is truly his own. But, not all is lost because, despite it all, he has one thing that has carried over: he is very sincere about his feelings. He is also a teen who has manners. It’s just everything else that has not yet been decided nor been found out.

Personal History
Yuki was born in Tokyo Japan to his two superpowered, hero parents. They represent everything that Yuki has always aspired to be and what he fights with every day. First off, his father, whose citizen identity is Yukino Shimo, is more publicly known by his hero alias, The Cold Knight. He’s mostly known for his trademark armor costume and his powerful emitter quirk, Absolute Zero that allows him to freeze anything he touches. Much like he has been throughout Yuki’s entire life, to the public, Yukino rarely interacts and simply does his job as only he could. Completely opposite of him, however, is his wife and Yuki’s mother, Shizen Chikyu, or otherwise known by her hero name, Mother Nature. She commands the element of nature, though it does seem to be rooted within the earth itself, through the use of her emitter quirk, Of Earth. Unlike her socially-distant husband, she is a social butterfly that is full of love and a warmness that makes her one of the favorites in Tokyo’s hero scene.

With these highly-prolific heroes as parents, Yuki grew up knowing what it truly meant to be a hero. They set the best example they possibly could. Yuki’s perspective of heroes and how they should act was based on his parents, but in doing that, he had always found himself wondering what that should be. Should a hero be cold, distant, yet effective and strong like his father, or should a hero be engaging with their fan base and greet everyone with a smile? Throughout his life as a single-digit-aged child, Yuki was constantly asking himself those two questions. It never left his mind when he was going to school, playing with his friends. It especially was the case when his quirk manifested and he truly was divided between being like his father and mother.

Then, as the acceptance letter into Isshin Academy came into the mail, guilt overcame him. It was a mix of being forced to leave his home for this academy and the uncertainty about what kind of hero he wanted to be. He loved his parents an equal amount and looked up to them. They were his heroes. Choosing to be like one over the other made him feel almost as if he was favoring one parent over the other. How could he choose? It was like life was forcing him into an impossible decision with so many variables that made the choice nearly as difficult as the circumstance of his position he was placed in. He just didn’t know what to do.

Character Development & Conceptualization
The initial idea came to me when I was thinking about what concepts work and concepts that don’t. And as I was pondering quite intensely about this character, I arrived at one that works brilliantly in a lot of ways, but mainly, Yuki is the kind of guy who has yet to find his own identity. Taking in mind his parents and how so vastly different they are from each other, Yuki embodies both of them. Personality-wise, he is every bit of his father’s coldness as he is his down-to-earth like his mother, yet he’s neither fully cold nor fully earthly.

Something I want to really explore is this identity crisis explained above. I want to explore this and see what could happen when he embraces one side more than the other. I want to see what it’ll do to him and how it might affect him. I want to see how Yuki will seem to others and how it’ll shape his future in the long term. This is without a doubt one of the main arcs that, in my opinion, will be key to his development into the hero that he knows he is (even if he doesn’t realize it yet).

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Emitter

Quirk Description
A common misconception about Yuki's quirk is that it's an earth-based quirk with an influence of the freezing touch, or that it's more ice-based and that earth as a sub-ability. In truth, the Emitter-type quirk, Altered Tundra gives Yuki the ability to freeze any, natural minerals found in the ground. Be it rock, soil, or the surface level of the ground itself, its core temperature is decreased to freezing levels.

Though a handy and useful quirk to have, it is not without its weaknesses. Aside from the obvious that only natural ground is suspect to this freezing ability. That aside, Yuki must remain completely stationary if the freezing of the ground is to go without a hitch. Lastly, due to his lack of experience using his quirk, Yuki cannot freeze more than a five-yard radius, though this may increase as the mastery over his quirk does.

Other Talents & Attributes
Adaptable
If there is one thing that is absolute about Yuki, it is his ability to adapt to nearly any given scenario that comes his way. This doesn't automatically mean he knows just what to do at every moment that comes to him. This is more about him being self-aware. Given the way his brain is wired, being able to switch one part of you off so the other can come on is just a small part of being able to adapt to different situations and scenarios. He found himself being able to get used to the new school he was placed in and the new city. That in itself alone shows he has no problem accepting change and has the ability to do what needs to be done to embrace it and not let it send you into a paranoid frenzy.

Examplenary Student
Something that Yuki has always prided himself on doing was excelling in anything that involves studying. So far that has been being a perfect student in which he gets the best grades he is able to, understanding the workings of earth and ice through extra lessons given to him by his parents, and, though this isn’t exactly in the tradition of being a student, Yuki always found that being respectful of his peers and instructors was always in the job description of a good student, so that is exactly what he is. Whether donning his father’s distant persona or his mother’s sociable one, you can always count on Yuki being the best student that his mind allows him to be.

Understanding of Human Behavior
Both a skill and a personal interest, Yuki can understand human behavior because one his mind is wired in a way that makes him aware of certain quirks of those around him (this could also double as a side-effect of being adaptable). But that’s not the only thing. There is also the fact that Yuki himself suffers from an identity crisis and knowing the way those around him work helps him along that journey. It’s a beneficial skill he has for him as well as it is for those around him.

Personal Dossier

Name
Mizushima Kazuo

Age
15

Origin
Sapporo, Japan

Physical Description
Kazuo is roughly 5'4" tall with a lean, but muscular physique. Contrary to what many would believe based on his quirk his body is not built like a tank. It is built compact, efficient muscle mass, strength and mobility. Most at a first glance probably wouldn't expect him to be a bit scrawnier at a first glance. This is because of his choice of clothing. It is typically form fitting, though a bit on the baggier side for comfort and mobility. His hair is dark brown, bordering black, and almost always worn in the same seemingly styled, unkempt manner. Pulling his look together is his eyes, which are a dulled yellow usually set to express and calm or bored demeanor even if he generally wears a smile and rarely a scowl.

Characterization
  • Competitive
  • Confident
  • Indulgent
  • Playful
  • Rebellious
  • Resolute
  • Snarky
  • Truthful

Personal History
Kazuo Mizushima was born into a family of three. He was loved, but that didn’t take away from his having to deal with something of an unbearable father.

It started with his sister, Hotaru Mizushima. She was on the fast track to becoming a hero despite their father’s, Shigeru Mizushima, wishes. Shigeru hated heroes. In his eyes they were a bunch of money hungry, fame crazed, showboats who thought they could do whatever they please under the guise of protecting the people. They worked around the rules, doing just enough not to get in trouble. And yet, the people idolized them. His mother, Honoka Mizushima, on the other hand, always instilled in their children the belief that whatever they did was fine so long as they were happy. It was likely because of their differing views and Shigeru’s stubbornness that he and Honoka came to be separated, though they have yet to divorce. So, in keeping with the beliefs of their mother, Hotaru was the first to follow her dream. She wanted to be a hero and she wanted to travel the world. Even now, she has found some success in America after completing her time in a university over there.

Kazuo on the other hand was left at the mercy of his father quickly after her departure from home. Shigeru was by no means a terrible man, nor was he a bad father per say. He was, however, extremely controlling and difficult to communicate with. The man would not budge on his thoughts, and though he had lost his daughter to the fantasy of being a hero, he would not lose his son. He began to train Kazuo. Combat, the law, and many other subjects were covered. In truth, Kazuo is who he is because of this. He could see there were things about his father’s way of thinking that were correct, but he refused to acknowledge that. His father had become an obstacle. That and his admiration for his sister, along with countless other heroes, drove him down the path he felt was right.

Kazuo became unsure of whether or not he could accomplish his goal, but whether or not that was the case, he figured at the very least he could use his dream as a form of rebellion. Even so, Shigeru refused to let go so easily. He convinced Kazuo to at least go to school in Sapporo. Ishin Academy was a prestigious school in it’s own right and that way he could at least be close to home. Besides, the chances of him entering U.A. were slim to none. Kazuo might have applied anyway, if not for his own doubts.

Character Development & Conceptualization
The goal behind Kazuo’s creation is to take a play around with some of the usual themes that make a hero and a shounen protagonist. Some of the basic tropes include dead parental figures, a never ending drive to become the best, and a lack of brain power in anything other than combat. Kazuo is a character who still has both of his parents, though they are separated. He respects and loves both of them, but for different reasons and to different degrees. They are both present in his life and influence his growth and the decisions he makes in different ways. He does have the drive to get better, but he does not suffer from the tunnel vision so many characters like him suffer from. His goals are not delegated to fulfill a single purpose. Additionally, he uses his mind as much as he can because of some of the adverse side effects that come with his power.

Still, Kazuo is torn in his life. His mother is supportive, but his father isn’t much a fan of heroes. He believes such work should be left to police and if they want to fight crime they should join the police. Because of this Kazuo wants to prove the worth of a hero to his father, but at the end of the day he just wants the man’s respect and an expression of pride. He is also afraid of his own strength, of his own emotion. He fears hurting somebody if he can’t control it properly, especially given the volatile nature of his quirk when faced with powerful emotion. Honestly, I think Kazuo has the making of a good character, even if he’s used more for support than as a front runner.

And I think playing him would be both fun and interesting. He has to change and move past his indecision and petty feelings. It’s simple growth in theory, but if I can manage to do it right he could be a good character to have around.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Mutation

Quirk Description
Kazuo’s power stems from his Internal Furnace which is a flame located within the abdominal area, somewhere around the stomach. As a result his core body temperature is higher than the average person’s, giving him heightened resistance to varying hot and cold temperatures, though this does not equate to immunity. It also imbues him with superhuman strength and heightened durability. At base level he can lift a small car, albeit it he does struggle a bit to do so, and take powerful blows and falls from heights of at least 5 stories with no real trouble. Kazuo’s strength and durability seem to grow exponentially, and to seemingly limitless heights, depending on his mental and physical state. Even so, this supposedly limitless strength comes with a price. The power is extremely difficult to control and furthermore seems to have a strong connection to the Kazuo’s mental state, which in turn brings about various side effects.

This quirk is a double edged sword. For example, Kazuo’s abilities may be amplified or weakened depending on his emotional state. The more determined, angry, happy, etc. he gets the stronger the flame burns. As the flame burns brighter and stronger the user's strength, and durability increases, but in addition to that, he also begins to grow hotter. His body will rise in temperature adding more power to his strikes and he may even experience abilities akin to pyrokinetics. Still, eventually his skin will become hot to the touch, and small bursts of flame will sprout along his body until eventually he is set ablaze in his entirety. The heat may go to his head making him dizzy or it may possibly even cause him to pass out.

Should he manage to keep conscious, Kazuo will be exposed to even worse dangers. The flame will continue to grow and will likely go out of control and "eat" him alive. On the other hand, even getting depressed or some other form of negative emotion will weaken the flame. In this case Kazuo may experience cold like symptoms, fevers, shivering, and fainting spells. Thus, he must remain in complete control, at least to a certain degree, at all times.

Other Talents & Attributes
  • Combat - Kazuo is a naturally gifted combatant and fights primarily while moving on instinct. That was likely why his father began training him to fight at such a young age. While he does not have the same resources as some individuals, being the son of a police officer, he did receive fairly good training from “the old man,” as he calls him, in Taiho Jutsu. However, he also attempted to branch out beyond the reach of his father's controlling hands. He incorporates Karate along with Savate into his fighting, although it should be stressed this is mostly self taught.
  • Cooking - Kazuo is a pretty good cook due to years of watching and helping his mom. Sometimes, however, the food he makes tends to take a turn from normal to spicy. He doesn’t usually notice this himself.
  • Law Enforcement Knowledge - Kazuo’s understanding of police procedure and the laws of his society helps him in various way. It is particular helpful in allowing him to bend the rules just enough not to break them.
  • Multilingual - Kazuo has learned to speak English and Spanish under the strict tutelage of private instructors hired by his father. It started off as a chore, but as he came to see the uses of it, he began to study more diligently for himself.

Name
Hiwofuku Akane

Age
Fourteen

Origin
Shimanto, Kōchi Prefecture, Japan

Physical Description
Height-wise, Akane is probably considered average for girls her age, standing at around 5 feet and 3 inches. Weighing 128 pounds, she's more lean than just thin. As her father, she possesses two inch-long horns located on her forehead, crimson red eyes, and pointed ears. Akane's upper canines are more prominent while her nails are a bit longer and sharper than usual; she finds it a point to keep them filed with the edges dulled. Her skin has a pinkish hue and appears perpetually flushed.

Akane sports a bob out of practicality as she dislikes it when her hair gets in her way; when more dynamic activities are involved, she tries to keep her hair tied in a ponytail. With her eyes in a partial droop along her typical flat expression that sometimes borders disinterest, Akane's general demeanor is casual and laid-back. This is also made evident by her choice in clothes that are loose and comfortable but most likely questionable fashion-wise.

Characterization
Stoic
Straightforward
Logical
Practical
Reserved
Determined
Unapproachable

Personal History
Akane's parents were Hiwofuku Naomasa and Kokoro Harumi, the co-owners and executive chefs of Koge, a well-known restaurant in Roppongi that specializes in both teppanyaki and sushi. Their claim to fame was the dining experience that they provided; their skilled use of their quirks and the synergy between the two, along with their bright and welcoming personalities, were the reasons behind their extraordinary level of showmanship and extravagant performances in food preparation.

With her quirk turning out as it did, Akane was meant to join them and eventually carry on the legacy that they had established. Unfortunately, being overexposed to such an environment had been counter productive to their wishes. At the young age of nine, it was apparent that Akane grew jaded of the culinary world; whenever topics related to it were brought up, the boredom and disinterest in her eyes were hard to miss. As much as Akane's parents wanted to address this, they were too preoccupied with work. Although she didn't take this against them as they were simply doing what they loved, Akane couldn't help but feel envious. She wanted something to be passionate about, but sadly she had nothing.

Given what we know now, the reason behind Akane's application to Ishin Academy was still unclear. Several years back, while being driven home from school, the vehicle Akane was in - along with others beside them, were caught in an accident caused by a rampaging criminal. She couldn't recall all the details as it all happened so fast, but she remembered finding herself hanging upside down with only the straps around her waist and across her chest keeping her from falling. She was lightheaded and a bit dizzy as blood was trickling down from her face. Turning her head towards the window, Akane had a good view of the individual responsible for the situation she was in. Still flailing it's arms and screaming at the top of its lungs as it was being suppressed by several heroes. Instead of feeling awestruck or something of the like for what she was witnessing, Akane couldn't help but focus on her disdain and anger for the criminal. However, before the hate she was experiencing became deep seeded, it was immediately plucked out by feelings of respect and admiration. But for who exactly? Well, as the fight had continued to go on, a few more heroes had appeared and turned to the civilians. The concern that was directed towards her felt genuine; the outreached hand extended to her made her feel safe. As Akane's consciousness gradually faded, she smiled. Finally, she knew what type of person she had wanted to become.

Character Development & Conceptualization
Currently, Akane is determined and believes that she has the right understanding of what heroism is about, but unknowingly lacks a holistic grasp on it. I wanted her to start of as the type of character who abides to and enforces the "rules", or at least she'll attempt to. Her struggles at the start would be communication-related and on how she presents herself, given her somewhat tactless manner of speaking and general vibe. Although willing to collaborate with others, she isn't the type to blindly follow instructions. If need be, she would challenge ideas conflicting with her own. I wanted a character who was loose and laid-back in demeanor but stiff and strict in belief. I hope that Akane would learn from others more and be open-minded in what her idea of being a hero is all about.

Quirk-wise, I took inspiration from Izuku Midoroya's parents. I always appreciated their quirks and had ideas on how a combination of the two would turn out. Akane's quirk is more of control-based and paced, instead of heavy in power like Endeavor's or Todoroki's. Eventually, working on strengthening the destructiveness of her quirk would be nice, but that would be for sometime down the road. For now, fine tuning and control is how Akane approaches her ability and what she probably needs to learn first would be how to use her flames in a practical and versatile way.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Emitter

Quirk Description
Akane's quirk, Spitfire, is a combination of her parents' that grants her the ability to generate flames from within her and release it from her mouth in the form of streams, spheres, or cones. She can further manipulate the flames she produces using hand or arm gestures to guide its trajectory, concentration, or to simply extinguish it. Drawbacks to Akane's quirk would include it's dependence on her respiratory function, namely her breath control, diaphragmatic strength, and respiratory capacities. When physical fatigued and out of breath, her quirk is unable to efficiently function. Given the nature of her quirk, not only does Akane possess an inherent resistance to heat, her core body temperature is also greatly above average. This gives her skin a flushed appearance and makes it warm to touch.

Other Talents & Attributes
  • Akane has caused her fair share of burns over the years, but it did not take long before she learned on how to address these types of injuries. What was once an obligation turned into a general interest as she continued her training on the practice of providing first aid.
  • Despite her fondness of sweets, Akane is physically fit as she regularly exercises daily. She usually focuses on calisthenics and aerobic exercises. During middle school, Akane was a member of both the track & field, and swimming team.

Name
Kunze Adrianne

Age
15

Origin
Düsseldorf, Germany

Physical Description
Adrianne is a composed lady, standing at about a striking five feet and ten inches, which is a height above most female peers; funny enough, shes still growing despite it all. For the most part, she displays a moderately muscled, hardened physique, with a flat, taut abdomen to boot. Her figure, for the most part, is one expected to have at this state of growth in a teenager, and tends to do her best when caring for said body. Like her family, Adrianne's natural hair coloring is black, with the white steaks being dyed and "experimental" as she calls it. Following more traits of her family (mother's side) are her piercing, focused red eyes; she used to wear glasses, but now sticks to wearing contacts due to the nature of her powers. The only thing she really got from her dad was the fact that she grew two small horns like him on the sides of her head. Other than that, she often has a frown that generally makes her appear to have a scornful, resting bitch face.

If anything is to say about her clothes, its... that Adrianne has never picked them out. Honestly, if it looks good to her parents, she'll just roll with it, such as the given example of her current wear displayed above. The first thing to note is the clear, white blouse she has on, which is somewhat large considering that it obscures the skirt she has on. Following this are a couple of purple ribbons that she has been taught to tie around at certain portions on her body. The only thing she can really say that she likes about said clothing is that it mostly is loose.

Characterization

- Vindictive to a certain degree

Personal History
Quirks... they defined the family legacy, their culture, and why they were so specific. This is what made the Kunze's reject any notion of those who didn't fall under their concepts, their creation of a hero, their desires, the history they wanted to leave on this world. So what happens when someone is born not fitting into this mold? It depends on the progenitor, the parents they come from... as well as the current matriarch or patriarch of the house and triumvirates.

They weren't revered as a great house that bred top heroes for nothing, especially since attending some of the top schools for being a hero was the norm.

Adrianne was born in Düsseldorf to a pair of Pro Heroes, one of which had a job outside of heroism; her mother with telekinesis who was one of many children born from the Kunze lineage and her father who had the quirk to transform any part of his body, sometimes his entire self, into an entity resembling a demon in old myths and legends; he also worked as an elementary teacher. Growing up, she was the middle child, between her older brother Lukas, and her younger sister, Lisbeth. For the most part, their lives were normal, as much as you could call normal in this quirky world. However, it was more like Adrianne's world was a ticking time bomb as a result of the family she was born into.

Her mom was of a Germanic heritage, one that cultivated and grew children with psychic quirks... mostly telekinesis. They would often grow these children to be the very best through strenuous training that forced them to expand their powers before sending them to one of higher up hero academies of the world when they came of age... mostly U.A.

While her brother and younger sisters quirk manifested as Telekinesis, hers... well...

She gained her fathers quirk instead - being able to transform certain parts of her body into limbs or parts that were similar to those of a demon. Upon hearing this, The Kunze's generally consensus for disposing of children like this was to put them in an orphanage. Usually when this happened, a divorce would surely follow, but yet, there was none of it. Her mother, nor father fought about this and decided that they wouldn't abandon their child to uphold that legacy.

This made the annual family meetings in Germany awkward, especially when it came to discussions about further training involving said children. None of the adults, aside from her own parents even acknowledged her; playing with her cousins was an alright ordeal, at least until she noticed something - that she had a different quirk than them all. Honestly, it was a bit strange, but she never felt the impact later in her life until more and more of these annual meetings continued.

Everyone became so... distant. Instead of the silence from the adults, she was met with callous remarks. Only when her mother eventually took her aside, she then learned what was going on and why. While it was a bit difficult for her childlike mind to understand, there was a certain type of juvenile hatred, yet desire to be accepted. She tried her damndest to be noticed, or have them acknowledge her, only to be met with the same condescending attitude than before.

This only seemed to embitter Adrianne, driven now by a mixture of spite and a desperate attempt at being loved by those who chose not to acknowledge her, even going so far as to mimic the training she saw Lukas and Lisbeth go through! Of course, when some members of the Kunzes caught wind of this, well... they decided to play it off to their advantage, maybe break the girl a little and drive her away since she besmirched that legacy they were constantly trying to make.

Despite saying she was behind and constantly decided to push her and put her into scenario's more befitting of telekinetic users, she ultimately failed there... most of the time. Often, she would either power through, or be helped by her older brother, which caused some small amount of resentment to slowly build up towards him over time. Other than that, she often proved to be superior to everyone else in physical activities, taking pride in displaying that she was better than them at that... yet, it was never enough for the Kunzes.

After her first time training with the family over summer vacation, Adrianne's father decided to... take some of the matters into his own hands, via utilizing a "specialized" version of quirk counseling that the children received by supplementing her with his own version of training her up... as well as making sure she had time to relax by taking her out on fishing trips, one of his favorite past-times.

Every year ended up being the same rinse and repeat, with certain aspects of her personality and life beginning to boil over. She honed her body to a grandiose scale, but at the cost of alienating other people/sacrificing any aspect of a social life she would have, as well as having a strained relationship with her very own brother to the point of always trying to one-up him.

Of course, that was made worse when he decided to attend U.A., the #1 ranked school in the world for heroics. The Kunze's encouraged it, seeing it as a way to continue displaying their greatness, as well as giving the boy a chance to shine... plus, it did help that a few of them were graduates from that place, including the current patriarch.

Upon hearing this, their father was ecstatic and approving of the choice... however, their mother was against it for a multitude of reasons at first. However, she was eventually won over after witnessing the hard-work he had gone through, the enthusiasm he displayed, and a certain desire in his eyes, she eventually cracked.

While the Kunze's began utilizing their connections to ensure he got in through recommendation, making meetings with some of their children and friends to prepare for his lodgings, and so on, Lukas and his family began filling out all the paperwork (with him doing most of the work)... with Adrianne bearing witness to all of this. During this time, she became more unresponsive, quiet, brooding, and above all envious.

There was a certain chill during this time as she began to push herself and train even harder to the point where she would just pass out from frustration, exhaustion, or a mixture of both. The demeaning comments from the Kunze's as she continued to push herself didn't exactly help her state of mind.

Upon witnessing this, something just cracked inside of her.

Instead of trying to attend the school her mother or father attended, she began researching Japan, forgoing the original desire to head to the #1 school in Europe to prove herself. That wouldn't be enough, no. They would continue to ignore her, treat her lesser than the dirt she walked on. She pondered on attending U.A. for a second before recalling her older brother. How would she be able to stand out from someone who was going to get in by recommendation? The Kunze's certainly wouldn't do that for her.

How would they be able to see what she was capable of? How would they appreciate her for the bullshit she had to deal with? They would never understand her...

So her next target became the second best school in Japan - Ishin Academy. She was going to rip that spotlight away from him and show the Kunze's, the students, the staff her worth. She wasn't just going to be a shadow to her brother, constantly being overlooked.

In the midst of her training, she began pouring more and more research into the place, even requesting that her parents get that same Japanese language tutor they had for Lukas over. Of course, they said no and constantly tried to get her to apply somewhere else... that is, until they saw something reminiscent of Lukas in their eyes; while the reasons for her going differentiated largely, they saw that same desire. Defeated and mildly worried, they hired the tutor once more.

Over the course of these few passing years, everything continued to get harder and harder for her, especially since she learned more about Ishin through a second hand source - the tutor. She learned about how rigorous the school was as she began recollecting and regaling tales her close friend told her about the place, especially with how they treated foreigners. It caused her to draw more similarities to her own relatives than before, causing a certain disdain for the place to be imprinted upon her mind and only further amplified the sheer spite she had for the Academy and the Kunze's.

It didn't help that the Kunze's caught wind of this endeavor and desire swiftly. During the Kunze's annual training, they made points that only a few of them had been able to graduate from that place with their dignity and pride intact, even occasionally slipping that there's no way someone like her would possibly succeed, and that she should just give up.

The blunt, minor remarks were a far cry from the indirect way of getting her to give up... yet at this stage in her development, they were enough to push her even further, stirring up the accumulated spite within even more...

She wasn't just going to give up... it wasn't in Adrianne's nature after all.

Character Development & Conceptualization
My first thought over her when creating this chick was a reverse-Todoroki... namely due to where she originated from, but that's a story for another time. Adrianne is a character that I see fighting against society itself, specifically her Mother's side of the family. As a result of not being born with a psychic or telekinetic quirk, she is often forgone by most people over said side, and even shunned or bullied. This (probably) wouldn't be such a large problem if her mother's side of the family wasn't known for producing great Pro Heroes with said psychic or telekinetic quirks, but I digress. In due part, she fights against the discrimination she faced growing up, to make said family bear witness to the powers they ultimately devalue when "creating" new heroes. Granted, this comes with some drawbacks, such as the meaning of being a hero to Adrianne, but that'll be covered later on.

Right now, I see her as being antagonistic to a certain degree, and probably not making a whole lot of friends. If anything, she'll probably be dismissive or frustrated at the other students, namely due to trying to prove herself, but mostly because she lacks any sort of knowledge over how to have a normal conversation with another person. Uniquely, she'll probably impose the views her Mom's side of the family has onto the school itself, seeing them as a stone to defeating aid families mindset.

To add on to the latter portion, namely the way she interacts with others, I made her mostly a workaholic who has a singular goal and works tirelessly at it. Adrianne lacks any sort of social life and has been a sort of reclusive girl her entire life, never bothering to stop and smell the roses. I hope for her to start off, again, not thinking too much, but show some sort of growing desire for acceptance and companionship amongst her peers, eventually blossoming into respect and other things.

Following that, it would help her get through this unhealthy aspect of life, i.e. focusing primarily on work, and not working on improving other aspects of her life that help make a healthy person.

The question, what it means to be a hero I don't think has ever popped up in her mind. In fact, the only reason she's going out of her way to prove herself is to force her mother's side of the family to see the value in powers like hers, as well as to be accepted. Basically, to be a "great" hero; by "great," I don't mean that she'll be selfless and altruistic. Ironically enough, she'll be more like said family at first, motivated purely by her own self-interest. Eventually, I hope to develop her into someone who decides to "shrug" off the family name and strike out as her own hero; one that inspires hope in the "underdogs" of society, and those who are generally oppressed.

To sum it up, she ironically is becoming the same thing she is fighting against, but I want her to grow out of it, possibly learning to not only be a better person, but to respect and understand others, and do what it takes to go beyond and become her own person.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Transformation

Quirk Description
Adrianne's quirk developed from her father's side, allowing her to take on the guise of a [Demonic Manifestation]. This allows her to take on the traits associated with demons or demonic beings from myth and legend, allowing her to augment her physical ability based on which physical shape she transforms her body into. Two examples are changing both of her lower limbs into goat-like legs, increasing her agility, as well as allowing her to cover more distance vertically when leaping into the air; the other example is altering her arms (and to some extension the area around her spine) into a chitinous, gnarled, twisted claws with jagged edges going all the way down to her spine. The main part of this all is that she can utilize this as a way to increase her strength and tear opponents to shreds rather easily, but also has a few other functions as well (i.e. a bit of defense and slow climbing).

Due to not having complete control over this quirk, she can only change a specific portion of her body to encompass said strengths and traits of a demon. Moreover, while she can swiftly transform said parts of her body to match a specific trait, doing so too much in a short amount of time will result in her becoming more and more tired, as well as causing Adrianne to bleed around certain parts of her body where she formerly transformed.

Other Talents & Attributes
Don't Underestimate Me!: You think she can't handle a punch or give one back without her [Demonic Manifestation]? Family training on her mothers end, as well as her fathers training, boxing lessons, as well as a few scuffles without her quirk will say otherwise.

German, Japanese, I Got It: As a result of trying to prove herself to her own family, as well as being able to speak with future classmates, she has taken it up to become bilingual. While she did pick up the tongue of her German heritage rather quickly, Japan was a bit difficult to come by... but nevertheless, she doesn't make as many mistakes as she did before!... probably.

Hook, Line, and Sinker: Whenever she wasn't busy working herself to be the absolute best, her father often brought her out on fishing trips... rather, dragged since she would probably keep declining if he didn't. She started out hating it, then begrudgingly going along with it since there was nothing to do, and finally silently enjoying it.

Jab, Jab, Left Hook!: As a part of her own physical training, she often works out and partakes in boxing. While she is a bit of a rookie, Adrianne has a really nasty left swing, and is more of a southpaw than anything. This training also helps her destressify, via inelegantly punching the crap out of a bag or her trainer.

Mind Spotting Me?: To continue over the latter, this is a part of her families (mothers side) training regiment, taking to it a lot easier than her cousins and very much excelling in it. Enjoys taking in the fact that shes superior in this section when compared to said cousins and even her own brother as well.

Name
Ishida Mizuki
いしだ みずき

Age
14

Origin
Kyoto, Japan

Physical Description
Mizuki takes an average height for her age of 5'3", showing a lack of distinction in that respect. Her glassy eyes are a seemingly unnatural salmon which help shape her perfectly round face along with her pointed nose and a lipless mouth identified as an open stitch. Mizuki's bob-cut hair is a dirty yellow, coloured the same as the straw found within her body, often found beneath her sun hat when she permits herself to wear when dressing casually. Alongside this, she prefers dungarees and flannel shirts - doting of her time spent working on the farm.

In spite of years of hard labour, Mizuki's frame doesn't really represent it, being fairly slim yet with a ragged dirtiness about her, however let it be known that her vitality has grown immensely from her work. Additionally on her body are numerous stitches where her limbs are most easiest to tear off; Mizuki's skin is less so skin and more akin to a burlap material, being almost baggy and much less strong because of this. Her hands and feet are also more rough to touch than the rest of her, in spite of not being able to have callouses.

Characterization
Disciplined
Candid
Tender
Glib
Forlorn
Irregular
Flippant

Personal History
Mizuki is the child of Ishida Hiroji and Emi, both once earnest farmers who shaped their daughter to become the hard worker she is today through putting her to work on the fields with them from a young age. Understanding that in spite of working being an immense chore for her, it benefitted her family being able to help secure a profit, especially given how small of a supplier they were. Of course, this did not take away from her education, which Mizuki took in her stride as becoming distracted by friends was difficult given how they were hard to make due to people finding her straw composition kind of strange despite some of the weird quirks many pro heroes have.

At the age of twelve, due to Mizuki's family's income being pushed down by monopsony power becoming a larger issue, and the birth of her baby brother, Yuuto, the family sold the farm and moved into the city in hopes of seeking greater fortune. It was at this point that Mizuki became more involved with the idea of becoming a hero, with the presence of pro heroes being much more common now that she lived closer to where all the action happens. With her family still putting immense pressure on her to work, she believed she could be something more than just something to help sustain her family's needs and that becoming a hero fulfilled a duty within society that could be what she needed.

As a result, Mizuki decided to enroll at Ishin Academy, knowing that she needed to vastly expand on her knowledge of heroism in preparation for this undertaking. Obviously with the school being well known for its strict tendencies, she took every moment of her free time studying for the opportunity to be accepted, embracing the idea of a stern education to help bring out her best potential.

Character Development & Conceptualization
Mizuki is a character born from the idea of a more realistic individualism, that is to say she is not cold or demeaning towards others, in fact she is generally kind with people she barely knows, yet it has always been better for her to work alone. As a result, interference can be a bit of an annoyance to her, however she would never blow her top because of it. Throughout her journey, she will open up more to others and become more cooperative through understanding that teamwork is an integral part of being a hero, relying less on her own ideas which may be wrong and be more accepting of others opinions on what may be right.

Another shortcoming of Mizuki is that initially her motivation for becoming a hero will primarily be the partially-selfish reasoning of wanting to escape her family forcing her to already be limited in life; to jobs which don't bring her happiness and only help her along a path of menial labour. Due to having spent most of her life without the massive influence of pro heroes from the media, she had not really considered the emotional effect they have and how they bring hope to many people, instead simply understanding that they seem to be free and a force of good. During her development, Mizuki will discover that the true essence of being a hero can't be studied for and just how much it means to be a beacon of light to those that need it.

Because of these two factors, the primary direction for Mizuki's growth will be to become more selfless and compassionate, especially to strangers and society in general, with her family also growing closer together being able to bond over her accomplishments. She will be able to flourish instead of being limited by her circumstances in life and find a certain sense of purpose beyond what her home life requires of her, allowing Mizuki to feel less forced and obligated in the path she has taken, instead feeling honoured to be able to be a part of it.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Mutation

Quirk Description
Scarecrow, passed down from Mizuki's father, gave her the physiology of a scarecrow; that is she is entirely made of straw with burlap skin and many stitches around her body, with the most dense part of her being wooden bones. Of course, this immediately presents fire as a lot more dangerous to Mizuki than most, with even the smallest cinder being able to burn her up fervorously. This also contributes to her having almost no muscle mass and a reliance on the wood within her to provide force in combat.

In spite of her weaknesses, Mizuki does benefit from being able to tear off parts of her body which can act independently of her, for example she could tear off her left arm and it could crawl around whilst she performs without it. Although, if enough straw fell out of the hole made by the tear, it could incapacitate the limb and it also takes time to stitch them back to her body afterwards. The limit to this ability is that so long as Mizuki's head remains, the rest of her could be destroyed so long as a new body can made for her.

One large support for Mizuki's power is the fact that she possesses straw generation and manipulation, being able to create constructs out of straw expelled from her body without worrying about too much leaving her. Most commonly, for offensive purposes she creates large hay bales from her arms, like hammers, using the density to convey force and for defensive purposes, Mizuki creates soft hay piles to cushion those travelling at high velocities in need of a safe landing. She's not very creative with what she makes, but over time she'll learn to come up with better builds and it is just straw, so it has a limit to its strength and capabilities. The rest of her quirk is pretty self-explanatory; whilst Mizuki does not necessarily need to eat, she has a great yearning for field crops, particularly corn, and does sleep, yet in an upright t-position.

Other Talents & Attributes
Mizuki is well-versed in horticulture, understanding the growth patterns, climate conditions and nutritional requirements of many different crops.
Mizuki is a tailor. She is extremely talented in sewing and making her own clothes due to how often they would wear out through her work, as well as stitching herself back up.

Despite a myriad of personal, cultural and social differences, they fell tumbling into love and married after graduation. Richard became a detective and Yumiko worked with the the city’s mayor. They were happy and successful, and together nearly 7 years before having a bouncing baby girl named Jinayah.

Another 5 years saw tragedy strike. A break in occurred at their home one winter night, and Richard and Yumiko were found dead, shot by an unknown assailant. Their daughter, who had just started kindergarten, was nowhere to be found. It was another year before they found Jin, who was caught trying to break into a convenience store. With her father having no living relatives, Jin was sent overseas to live with her mother’s brother.

Jin’s uncle Tairo, and aunt Misaki were both happy to take in their niece, and yet hurt by the circumstances. They did their best with the little girl and tried to help her fit in. They changed her name officially to her their family name, they took her to theme parks and festivals, and tried to be the best parents they could. It took a very long time for Jin to be able to open up and trust again.

Jin was never quite sure of the first time she understood she was different. Maybe it was elementary, in a class photo, where she was far too easy to pick out. Maybe one summer when someone told her that she didn’t have to worry about tanning, or when she overheard someone referring to her as “Hafu” for the first time, and she had to go home and look it up online.

Whatever the cause, her personality shifted dramatically in her first year of middle school. She went from trying to fit in to actively going against the grain. She stood up for the outcasts, and didn’t even try to pretend she was “normal”. In her mind, someone had to defend the people on the outside. The ones who weren’t like everyone else, the ones who didn’t fit in or fall in line. Those people, too, needed a hero.

This behavior caused no end of worry from her aunt and uncle. When it came time to pick high schools, Ishin was suggested as a place that could hone her spirit into something proper. Jin did enough reading to understand the school’s reputation, and what she read burned her up. She knew, that this school would be her first test. She’d make Ishin understand that she belonged, just as much as anyone, and she would be a great hero of ALL of Japan.

Character Development & Conceptualization
I wanted to play with the idea of a character with a chip on their shoulder and a lot to say about it. Jin is as close as I can write to a bully, and I want to push the idea of someone who constantly lashes out in a place where that isn’t tolerated. Either she learns to bend, or she breaks entirely. I want to know what lies beneath that kind of personality, behind all the anger and snapping.

Also, Jin feels like a fish out of water. She doesn’t feel American anymore, and there are some who will forever treat her like she isn’t Japanese. She expects everyone to hurt her, eventually, and while she’d be loathe to admit it, she is constantly waiting for that pain. She’s used to being alone, and to have that challenged would bring her to an unknown point.

Finally, I want to see if I can make a hero out of someone without the usual personality. All Jin has is raw stubbornness. She’s not naturally kind or gentle, most of her would rather not start a fight- because she knows that fight has to end with her winning, no matter the cost. Can someone lonely, angry and afraid have what it is to be a hero?

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Emitter

Quirk Description
One Shot: She can hit anything she can see within 50 yards, but only with objects about the size of a ping pong ball and larger. Jin can curve her shots to hit her target. This takes time, however, and she has to concentrate to hit a faster moving target. If she can’t see her target, she will hit the next closest thing. Without a set target, One Shot is rather useless. The objects she throws or launches are still many of the laws of physics. Heavier objects take more force to throw and aim, while lighter ones are easier but not as forceful.

Overuse of her Quirk causes severe migraines. Jin can tell they're coming when her color vision starts to distort. Usually she can't push herself past that point, as migraines cause all of her senses to go out of whack. The more she pushes past the initial symptoms, the more she will pay for it later. Her worst migraine lasted 3 days.

Other Talents & Attributes
-Intelligence: Jin, despite her unfavorable personality, is rather intelligent. Her high test scores were part of what got her accepted. She loves math and mechanics, and if she burns out as a hero she’ll go to university for an Engineering degree.

-Side Job: Jin fixes computers and phones for money, and she’s quite good at it. Most things require a reboot or a drive cleaning, and she also takes requests for custom builds. This may turn into something she does in the summer, now that she’s entering high school.

-Natural Aim: Jin was in the archery club in middle school, and could have been Captain if she’d chosen to apply for it. She took up the sport because it was a challenge to not use her Quirk – like most sports teams, most Quirks had to not be used, or be harshly vetted to prevent unfair advantage or cheating of any kind. She had to rely on her own eyes and arms and skill, and she loved it. Even without her Quirk, she understands where and how something needs to go to hit a target.

-Big Eater: Jin likes food. She's got a quick metabolism, and always seems to be hungry.

-Bilingual: Despite being away from America so long, Jin still maintains her English with weekly practice. She has a habit of tossing foreign words into her speech when she’s particularly excited.
