A simple question poised more toward the prospective playerbase rather than the GM team. With the information we currently have [which is admittedly little] what are your thoughts, concerns, and wants for this project? Answering this constructively can be used productively by the GM Team, I imagine, so let us keep it within the realm of what could be good for the game.

Player controlled Empire against player controlled Republic, with the outcome being decided by the timely arrival of player controlled smugglers and bounty hunters. Sith and Jedi players doing their thing, advancing their storylines with the larger battle as backdrop, boarding vessels, meeting blades planetside.

Actual winners and losers, even if it takes a week of refereeing OOC to get to as close to a mutual satisfaction with said results. New players having picked up characters and jumped into it all, some ignored IC because they broke whatever unspoken (or spoken) rule and will have to try again, some who get it right and have an action packed introduction to the RP.

Groups of players with IC families in fantasy sci fi settings. Hard darkness, bright neons, and cold rains in cityworlds where a pair of slicer players dive into a cyberpunk noir story.

Watching players actually realize what this is and really take ownership, in short.

Some player out there will probably be the Dark Lord of the Sith at some point if it takes off, and for some reason I find that fact endlessly entertaining.

Whilst I had not directly participated in the previous PW (though I did take a look at it several times while it was still running), I do feel in the Star Wars PW the character (or even group) application process should be more streamlined, though the main thing I had issue with EH's application process was the tiered system. I don't want to spend a ton of time worrying over my character's power level, I just want to make a character that's cool yet realistic (in SW terms) that the PW mods approve of, especially with how Jedi/Sith are already pretty OP to begin with.

For a persistent world roleplay I would like to see that any story I create has some impact or is perhaps referenced by another group of players, possibly for their own use. For example, and using Rogue One as an example, if I was to have a story where my character was to obtain the blueprints to the Deathstar, that information is now readily available for another group of players. They don't need to know the entire roleplay persay, but a short summary for what was achieved would help. If the GMs think that what was achieved was too much, then they could alter it by saying the data was corrupted or something, but that's where their expertise in balancing the game comes in.

To sum up, perhaps a thread listing an index of the outcomes/summary of each RP would be a good option.

If we had someone with a lot of time on their hands willing, there could be a dedicated lorekeeper for it later on if anyone wanted to write the summary similar to that like a wiki page, though that might be asking a bit too much.

Yeah, I agree, a way to keep track of plotlines would help folks when designing characters, and jumping in.

Like if I want to make a smuggler, sith, or jedi, or whatever, I want to know what's going on, so I don't accidently step on someone's shoes in the process of doing something. Also I agree with the whole we could see a player becoming the top dog of the sith or jedi. Just be prepared for someone to overthrow the sith. The key to an ongoing world is making sure folks remain engaged, whatever that takes. It can be a variety of things. I lack as much knowledge on this time period as I do on later, but I'd certainly be interested if there was a sort of "tutorial" provided, or clear guide stuff.

Of course, the dedicated lorekeeper job could be multiple folks. At least two to start, for say good and bad, and that way, it reduces the work load, and makes sure there's folks monitoring as able. And then it can be expanded going forward. I'm not offering myself as tribute, I wrote massive lore documents for something like this before, and I'm not suffering through that again so soon. Still recovering from all the writing I did back then, only for none of the players to really read. It hurt. But they're still going strong, regardless of background lore.

tl;dr: agree with above points, just adding my own angles.

This is a very good idea. I know it's a very good idea because it occurred to me as well after reading @Ruby's post. I was pleased to see someone else had beaten me to the punch.

The only other successful Persistent World that I have ever been a part of was coincidentally also the first RP I ever participated in. It was called Live the Legend and it was a Jurassic Park PW. We all played dinosaurs. Realistically, too. No talking. Just growling. Someone made a wiki for that, which still exists: jpl-live-the-legend.wikia.com/wiki/JP… The PW and the site it was hosted in (Jurassic Park Legacy) are gone, sadly.

A community-created wiki that chronicles pivotal characters and plotlines should be feasible as long as we have people on top of that task from the very beginning. Everybody likes to be important so I think you'll find plenty of players who like creating wiki pages for their characters and their storylines.

I wouldn't say that's necessarily a PW Mod/GM's role, but a player's role. You are running and managing your own individual RPs in the game, and part of that would be to give feedback on what has happened in your RP. The PW Mods can chase you up, but they should not have to write up a wiki summary on your story. Besides, I'm not talking about a 20 page submission on every fine detail, it just has to be a short paragraph similar to what you would see on the back of a DVD cover.

By offering feedback you are also opening up the opportunity to hear about other things that may affect your own RP.

Low level characters (including Force users) will need no approval at all. (If they're broken they'll get ignored IC, and/or fixed by a GM.)

Streamlined enough?

Yeah; I agree with your idea, although I wasn't necessarily implying the Mods/GMs should have to do it. It was more so me voicing an idea so that the setting could have something similar to the Wikia for Moon Guard, hence the "dedicated lorekeeper" comment. In the end, such an idea isn't truly needed as an integral component for the PW, but it would be nice to see something like that come to fruition.

Edit: Rereading what I said earlier, I can see why you came to that conclusion.

I don't think so, personally. I think there needs to be more checks and balances then "the GMs will get around to telling every application/submission needs fixing".

Get out of my head, Roobs ;)

I'd love for less "epic galaxy-wide plots" and something more planet-based, or perhaps city/neighborhood. I've always loved Coruscant for settings, especially the gritty underbelly and all [insert number here] levels since any faction can be apart of the madness.

Simple... It would depend on the situation but if your charceter can beat everyones flat in combat, buy them all out. Or has a eclipse class personal ride, your high power.

If your in a high power RP of fleet leaders etc, its diffrent vs a back water planet where your moisture farmers.

All about the situation.

Not exactly sure yet. The example I usually give is, "Jedi Padawan/Jedi Knight."

No, that person thinking "but Padawans can be OP" isn't the first to think that but you gotta draw a line and that's generally the best example. For Imperials and Republic folks it may go by rank, or ship/reputation/wealth for other types. I'm fairly certain the GM group is on it.

From what I recall there were really great games-within-games in past SW PWs I've seen. The right planet, the right group of players, ya never know.

But it should be fun.

I'm more partial to a small-scale story, with only a few characters and settings; I find it a refreshing change from all of the galaxy-conquering awesomeness.

To be honest, I don't really know what the specific setting is yet- it'd be nice to get an idea of what we're precisely dealing with. It's definitely some time in the Sith Wars span of time (at least from what I've heard on the Discord), but which date BBY? What are we relegated to? Confirmation there would help make some aspects of our characters & setting easier to understand.

I mean, I'd like to see something that acts as a tie in for all the various stories. Even if your RP is only taking place on one world in one city, the larger scale war will still affect you. Nothing that hasn't been said already, but what about characters like smugglers? A good smuggler isn't going to just sit on one planet in one story, they're going to be cutting deals, delivering cargo, moving around. A way to manage all of that would be good.
