The Sun had just broke over the distant horizon of the big blue patch of water known as the Sea of Rutria. Its calm waters that shone like a pearl laid beside a great fireplace would soon be the stage of yet another large scale conflict in the never ending war of those who inhabit the Nexus. The present conflict being a race against time, to see which of the factions can gather more of the eldritch resources scattered across the Ruins of Lenuria. Said to once have been the great capital of powerful and advanced civilization who was sunk beneath the waves when the gods who presided over its world of origin struck down the Lenurians for their hubris, Lenuria now lays at the bottom of a fissure, circled by an archipelago full of breathtaking tropical wonders that only the Nexus can house.

There are rumors that the fearsome Leviathan might use the ruins as a resting place but no one knows the truth of it. If it turns out to be real, the Leviathan's awakening would throw the battle in disarray, without doubt. However, it's also said that if a being of Demonic alliance were to use the legendary Flute of the Sirens, they could control the ire of the mighty serpent. If this happens to be true, the other two factions would be a huge disadvantage, even with they own trump cards at hand. Said trump cards were, for the Machina, the dreadnought warship, HMS Contender, capable not only of swift movement over the waters, as well as dropping depth charges that could cause massive damage for anyone were they are deployed. The Angels, thanks to their crushing defeat at the Dianex, a short while ago, would have to make do without their most powerful forces, however to their luck, the Dwarves came to their aid, bringing a new hope of victory.

The ruins of the ancient City are divided nine sectors each of them being distributed around a mighty pillar with an altar by their base. In order to allow their forces to gather the resources of Lenuria, each faction needs to dominate a patch of the terrain by having at least two of their agents touch one of the altars at the same time. As soon as a sector has been dominated, it'll begin to produce resources that are automatically collected and sent to each of the factions' bases, whoever reaches the objective quantity of resources first, will be declared victor of the day.

♆ Objectives and Rules ♆

"All is fair in both love and war but, even then, there are some rules that one must abide, lest they become lesser than animals."

Such rules are:

  • The battle will take pace in "turns". During each turn, a character can take up to two actions (in any order or combination), which can be:
    • [Move], to a sector of the city that's adjacent to the one you're currently in. If the character has any form of fast movement abilities (eg: teleport), they can move to anywhere within their movement range, in one action.
    • [Do Something], like engage in combat, use an ability, command troops or vie for control of one of the pillars.
    • Defensive weapons, traps and passive abilities and similar cases, don't require actions to perform their function however, they may require one to be activated/deactivated, depending on their description.
  • After every 04 (or more depending on the battle's pace) elapsed turns, every faction will be awarded 50 resources for each sector under their control, in an Update Post issued by the GMs. The first faction to reach 1000 resources wins.
  • In the event of a tie, the battle will continue until one of the factions has an advantage of at least 100 resources over the others.
  • To dominate a sector of the Ruins, at least 02 characters of the same allegiance must touch the altar at the base of pillar, which lays at the center of each of the Ruins' sector.
  • A sector cannot be dominated as long as there's opposing forces actively disputing its dominance.
  • Special Rules:

    • The Contender can use an action to launch a Depth Charge attack, causing extreme damage to anyone on the sector right bellow it. This can be done 03 times during the whole battle, but not on consecutive turns.
    • All actions of the Contender can only be initiated by its Captain or an appointed Machine Field Commander.
    • Once during the whole battle, the Angels may call upon the support of the Dwarves. When this is done, they'll summon a huge lump of iron high up in the air which can hit anywhere on the battlefield, 02 Update Posts after it was summoned, killing anyone in the sector hit by it as well as causing that sector to become useless for the remainder of the battle.
    • The Leviathan is currently asleep, buried under the ruins of one of the sectors, if someone tries to dominate it, the Serpent of the Abyss will wake from its slumber and attack anyone within the Ruins. The Leviathan will be weakened once it wakes (though it's not to be underestimated under any circumstances), but will grow in power as the times passes. It's full power will be reached after 03 Update Posts. At this point, pretty much nothing will be able to stop it.
    • The Demons can control the Leviathan using the Flute of the Sirens, currently in possession of the responsible for their previous victory, Victoire Bordeaux, if they are at the same sector as the Leviathan.
    • Ascalon, the Wyrm Slayer, the holy sword belonging to Diana, can cause massive damage to the Leviathan, currently its under the possession of the Machina unit Shizuka Meido.
  • Every faction will begin the battle with one dominated sector and 50 resources. The progress of battle as well as which faction currently controls which sector, will addressed in the Update Posts, with a map such as the following one:

Machina Controlled

Angel Controlled

Demon Controlled

After finishing with her 'games', Victoire arrived on the battlefield with a snarl in her face as she noticed the state of disarray in which it was, especially displeased with the breeding argument between Slinke and Henry as well as how much their faction was outnumbered in this battle. Well, at least Victoire had the key to their Victory in her hands, once more.

"When both of you are done with your little stand up performance, would you care to join me on the actual battlefield? We are outnumbered severely already, the last thing we need is these pitiful fights to tear us apart." Victoire said as flew to the middle of the sea. With a snap of her fingers, her dress (which would no doubt get in the way underwater) turned into a swimsuit just as Victoire's toes touched the pleasantly warm salt water. "If any of you are worried about drowning, know that there are fissures all through the ruins from which breathable air is vented. No that I matters to me, of course." After leaving the last piece of information she had for them, Victoire disappeared under the water.

Just at that time, the whole patch of the Ruins under the Demons control would start to get slowly filled with bloody red water as Victoire began to spread her Demon Roses over it.

@Silverwind Blade

It would be better if you dropped by the OOC. There's a link to it right above.

Just dropping an announcement from your GMs. The intro post of the Battle of Ruthria will be ready no later than a couple days from now, possibly even before.

Once it's out, be sure to pay extra care for the Objectives and Rules section, as it has been tailored to enhance everyone's fun, while trying to avoid some of the issues from the previous battle. Not paying attention to them, will not only jeopardize your faction's chance of victory but also force us to null a lot of your posts and the last thing we want is make someone lose their time.

So, read it.

~Eleonor~

Eleonor watched as Axon failed to deliver even the simplest of the relies, finally turning away from him, when Lorelai's words snapped her back to reality. Holding back the urge to punish herself for causing yet another person who believed in her to be distressed, when the one at fault was none but herself, Eleonor laid a hand of Lorelai's shoulder as she guided the Abyssal Knight, along with her sister, for the stables.

"I apologize for causing you so much distress, Lorelai. The truth is that I'm not the hero you admire, I'm just a woman that has made many mistakes and lived her life running away from them. Yet, it doesn't mean that I can't try to set things right for once." Eleonor got one of the readied horses and handed the other to Solanne, before continuing, "Actually, it's quite the contrary, Lorelai, I don't want to burden you and your companion with us; he's a warbeast, not a pack animal, both of you will do your best if you are not worried with being used as transportation."

"Now, Lorei and Sol, we must go, enough time was lost, already."

Back at the Arcadian Ruins, the Twins were starting to get quite tired from the excessive heat of the Sun burning right bellow them. However what called for Sienna's attention was a much more important fact. "Huh, where's Tori? I thought that she was just behind us." Before anyone could notice, Tori had disappeared, how and why was left for wonder. The fact stood that she just wasn't there anymore.

"Damn, what if she entered on of the other passages? We don't know what can happen." Sienna said just before the two of them were addressed by Alex. "It is game, Alex. I bet we have to step on the Sun tiles to reach the other side. I think we need to wait and figure out the pattern." Linea replied in her sister's stead, as Sienna already began to try and memorize the tile patterns. Once the three of them were able to cross the chasm, they would land on another portal.

On the other side of the portal laid a chamber as dark as the void of space, in fact they would find themselves floating at the zero gravity environment, in which the only features worthy of attention were a nebula, which illuminated the place with the light of its thousands of stars, and the floating ruins of some sort of temple, or altar, right in front of them. Amid the ruins a single being, who looked like a small girl dressed in strange looking robes and holding a staff taller that she was, which ended in a globe where a veritable galaxy's worth of stars danced slowly. [NON-AUTHORIZED BIOLOGICAL ENTITIES DETECTED IN THE CORE CHAMBER.] The girl said in a deadpan tone as her eyes seemed to flare to life in a menacing red glare. [ERECTING DEFENSIVE BARRIER AROUND CORE CONTROLLER AND PRIMARY REACTOR. BARRIERS SET, STARTING MAIN ENGINE. REQUESTING CONFIRMATION CODE, FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL TRIGGER STANDARD PROTOCOL ALFA.] After another long string of robotic speech, the girl fell silent, most likely waiting for a reply.

Right about this time, a huge rumble shoot not only the ruins where Alex and the Twins were located, but the very world itself. No matter were one was on the Shattered Realms, they would feel that some ancient power had been put in motion once again. "I don't know what just happened, but I have a bad feeling about it..." Sienna said as both of the twins fell silent, waiting for Alex's decision on what to do.

Will someone do me a favor in case I forget to check and mention me when things move forward?

I'm very terrible at checking

Sure, I'll do it.

"Wha-what do you think you are doing?" Yuriya couldn't believe at what she had just seen before her eyes, first Jack tries to tempt fate by poking at the unknown sink and now, Anri pretty much cursed them all to death, if the ill omens up to now were to be believed? "Get a hold of yourself before you get us killed!" The dark haired girl slapped the lighter from Anri's hand and pushing him to the side before he could do anymore damage as she tried to find a way to halt the spreading fire. They had to worry about not being burned alive, before worrying about curses.

Back at the Science Laboratory, Shinobu would find that the Insane Axe Girl only continued to ramble the same phrases about light, monsters and how she did killed the other student who tried to leave the room. At least until she was addressed directly.

Just as Shinobu tried to communicate with her, the girl turned to look at the new presence inside the laboratory. She didn't said a word, instead mumbling incomprehensible gibberish as she until she got close enough to Shinobu. "Y-you won't get them here... T-the light is bad... I-I-I-" Ou of the blue, the girl swung her axe at Shinobu, though she wasn't even aiming it, so the most that could happen is the scarf-wearing girl be hit by the but end of the blunt end of the tool, it that much.

I hate to say this, but I'll be putting this RP, on a hiatus to reconstruct it. The way it's now, I've been struggling to put out a post for nearly two weeks but I can't bring anything up.

I'm sorry but, ever since that rock from Mary screwed the IC and some shadow GMing/argument incidents happened on the OOC, I can't bring myself to move this story as I should.

I'll bring an updated version of this RP up, eventually, if any of you feel like it, please hop in when it's out.

My apologies again,

Farewell.

Iona remained silent as the others exchanged words, at least until they began to form something with the semblance of a plan, despite being one that was mostly futile. Of course, strategy and tactics were vital for success, but those born of subterfuge only caused Iona's stomach to twist in disgust.

When she found an entry point into the discussion, Iona said, "I don't understand why you must rely on such tactics, instead of doing just as my Master and... Deos proposed, even the Necromancer's suggestion is sound enough. A simple direct attack. We have in our hands enough might to put Melaron to its knees several times over, even without accounting that we have the God of Hunger among us, between just the Venerable Wyrm and I, all the city's armies could be destroyed at least trice over. Even their mages cannot hope to bring the two of us down, given that ancient beings like us are innately resistant to any magic a mortal of these days can hope to master."

"I do understand it however, beings used to hide and skulk in the shadows and yet call themselves lords and masters of something, only to cower when a ray of light is cast on their dwellings, can only behave like this. If my Master allows, I'll lead the charge as is my role and, once more, show them that their light is a force as destructive as any other one." Iona's voice was low, and had matter of fact tone as she exposed the truth none of these before her ever acknowledged. Beings used to wall themselves in ancient towers and dark cities, and sinister tombs, may think they have the right to rule over something but the truth is that they only seek refuge from the light. Given that Iona's light burned brighter than any other, despite the fact that she was a daughter of the God of Evil, this kind of behavior was only good to disgust her.

"As for the location of the seal holding my Father imprisoned? I can sense it even from here given that I was born of the flesh and blood of the God of All Evil, locating his prison will be no problem. Once the time of the festival comes, my Father will be free to walk this earth once more. There's no way we can fail, unless you let betrayal cloud your vision as was addressed already." Once she said all she had to, Iona stepped back to Aesir's side and exchanged a quickly glance as a voiceless apology for speaking out of her turn, but she had to say what needed to be said.
