@ArenaSnow Yes. That was almost exactly my point...I can only hope you're laughing with me.

Somebody made a rule specifying, only one certain thing can exist. Contradicting themselves immediately, by proceeding to describe something, in a way, that would only make sense for multiple things to exist. It's shitty writing.

@ArenaSnow But that would require giving you an aneurysm...If you're actually that curious/and won't start in between drama with the person's thread I'm talking about. I'll pm you it. I only scratched the surface, because it's only the latest example that I'm aware of, where rules are abundant, senseless and likely not even followed. <.<

I frequent the 1x1 forum, manage to keep up to date on threads from most other forums including free and general interest checks, read through dozens of characters on roleplayersguild, survived a braindead discord and experienced innumerable idiocies across the internet.

My mind is a potato, and my body is the embodiment of cancer. There is no more sanity left to be lost to knowledge. <.<

@SleepingSilence Thanks but far from healed sadly. Normally I can crank out 6 10k posts in 2 hours, right now it is taking me a day to prep and type up a single one half that length. Recovery is slow and having to pace myself though I guess I am having to just harness my inner "guy" - typing one handed. :P

@Lady Amalthea That sucks about your hand, Lady A. Hoping it heals soon, even if it's looking less promising now.

Oh.. Can I add people setting massive word count minimum, and such.

I get quality posting but sometimes less is more. A good post can be 3 or 30 paragraphs based on the situation.

Theres always abit of room to work with, and needs to be to keep people intrested and not fluffing up a extra few paragraphs of padding describing a coffee in 500 words alone.

I hate it when people try to backseat-GM a roleplay. I'm fine with suggestions, but when you are not taking no for an answer and aggressively trying to push your own systems on to the one I've already laid out, then its probably time you joined a different RP or better yet, made your own one.

Ninety percent of the time if a character is described as "snarky," the writer probably doesn't know what that means (same goes for self described "snarkers" out there).

Urban Dictionary:
A word that should be googled to find the definition as per direction from Dane Cook. It means short tempered or irritable.
"He was being very snarky with me. Yeah, snarky. Its a word, google it." -Dane Cook

How incredibly interesting.

In the meantime, try to PM someone if you're interested in their content, and not ask them if they are able to PM you. They are probably able. But it's probably up to you, as the person expressing interest, to do that in the first place. >.>

I do find it weird that so many people wander through the interest checks and then take the time to post, but only to say PM me. This seems like an inefficient method to begin communications. It irks me whenever I see it, and I'm not even the one who wrote the interest checks.

I tend to just ignore those replies. I tend to have somewhat steep requests for people expressing their interest (often summed up with the phrase "sell it to me") and that course of action is so far below my level of expectation that its not even worth the effort to acknowledge or explain why it's disqualifying.

Does this extend to IRL tabletop roleplay as well? Regardless, here goes:

The thing that irks me about tabletop, nominally D&D and Pathfinder, is shitty group dynamic. It's 100% more enjoyable playing with friends you know well and can trust not to abuse the game, or disrupt the flow of play. Playing with strangers makes me want to flip the table. I don't have any GM experience, so this is coming from my background as a player. I understand that people play the game for the freedom to be whoever they want and do things they can't in normal life. But that's hardly an excuse for being insufferable pricks.
I can't stand the murder-hobo mentality, ignoring any sensible norms that the GM's world may have and doing fuck-all to delve into the plot (if there is one). Part of me thinks the casual, pick-up style of official modules and things like Pathfinder Society is to blame, being very combat/encounter-oriented and eschewing roleplay.
Every group also has that one jackass that thinks he's the next king of standup comedy. I don't mind out-of-character banter when appropriate; it's actually somewhat necessary to break the ice in a group of strangers. But why do people feel the need to insert their shitty one-liners at every opportunity?
Then you also have your powergamers and outright cheaters, rules-lawyers and so on. The assholes that'll do anything to get a leg up on everybody else in the party and have the 'me vs. the GM' mentality. I have no patience for people who adhere unflinchingly to the rulebooks as written, and refuse to acknowledge discrepancies in the GM's setting and the game's own.

When I roleplay, I do so for the story. To be someone I can't and to explore a world different from my own. The things that stand between me and fulfillment of that objective is 99% other people. And I hate them for it.
