Palm Beach Royals: Class Reunion

Over the course of the last few hours, Jace had tried to catch up on sleep from where all of the driving he had done made him drowsy. Unfortunately his plans for rest failed. Instead of having the possibility of missing his alarm and being fashionably late, the man spent the last four hours taking an extra long shower, trying on twenty different outfit combinations and completely stressing out over what was going to happen at the upcoming cocktail party. While changing from outfit to outfit, his mind spun scenarios of Amanda giving him the middle finger, him punching Grayson in the face for simply breathing, and the Kings Men getting completely wasted and making fools of themselves. Of course two out of three of these things had only a fifty percent chance of happening, but the fact did nothing to ease his anxiety. How many cars had Brent sold lately? Did Dre still take an enormous amount of pride in basketball? Had Alex got fat?

After all of these thoughts and more, Jace settled on a light gray dress shirt, a dark pair of jeans and a random pair of fancy boots. Not to flashy, and hopefully not to shabby either. Eventually the clock struck ten minutes til eight, sending Jace through his hotel room door, down the stairs and to the party destination.

The decorations weren't overboard, but not entirely what he had been expecting either. Who actually wanted to wear or wanted to make people wear Hawaiian shirts anymore? Taking in the rest of the scene, he noticed that a woman was already sitting at the bar.When one of the waiters strolled by, Jace simply ordered a bacon cheeseburger and fries. This reunion was a sort of little vacation, so he figured he might as well enjoy everything while it lasted. To nervous to approach as him memory failed to match the name with the face, Jace took a seat at one of the tables near the pool. Pulling out his phone to check the time and any random notifications, he noticed that the clock officially read eight. Hopefully more people would be making their grand entrance soon.

Henri is nothing like his father or his older brother. He's not a charismatic man who would flirt with the ladies during a political party. He wouldn't even flirt with any lady or lord. He would be the guy slipping out of the ballroom to escape the proud people who think too much of themselves. Henri is an introvert who enjoys his time alone and with nature. He is most happy with a camera hanging on his shoulder and walking through the forest of his home country.

During social events, Henri tends to stick to people he knows or has met in the past. He's not one to mingle on purpose; in fact, he would rather avoid it. Hell, Henri is the one in search of the pet at the party. Poor boy can't even dance or hold his liquor.

While Henri is docile in nature, he can be rather blunt to those who do strike a conversation. He cares very little about what people think of him and does things on an impulse. Henri usually has a distant look on his face and carries an indifference sort of attitude to him, making him seem a bit unapproachable sometimes. It's not his intention to be like that, but he can't help the way his face looks. It also doesn't help that he could be cynical around other royals or people who know who he is.

Prince Christian Henri was born to Henri and Josephine, king and queen of Luxembourg. Christian is the second oldest of all of his siblings, putting his second in line for the throne. His childhood was a relaxed one. While his birth had been celebrated, like all of his siblings', it had been no match for his older brother's. Since birth, Christan lived in Elias' shadow. They may have had the same education and the same opportunities, but Elias was the heir to the throne, and there was nothing he could do about it. By no means, Christian neglected by his parents, but he always knew that Elias would always come first.

Christian wasn't bothered by this one bit. He was five years when he realized that he rather enjoyed staying in his brother's shadow. He was able to do things Elias wasn't allowed due to the media's focus on his older brother. Christian was able to sneak out and explore his country since not many knew his face. He was able to join a rock band without much complaint from his parents. Hell, he was able to do pretty much what he wanted.

Elias was jealous of Christian, and he knew it. There was some tension between the two brothers. With Elias wanting more freedom and Christian boasting about his liberty to do whatever he please, Elias took it upon himself to make his little brother feel what he felt.

After some framing and false accusations, Christian was sent to a boarding school in France when he was around 16. France wasn't too bad! Christian had made some friends, joined another rock band, and passed the time with a distant cousin he didn't even know he had! While he wasn't too happy with the fact his older brother practically forced him out of his home and into another country, Henri wasn't complaining too much about it. At least he didn't have to see his father's disapproving gaze.

He also fell in love with a boy named Chris. Funny, he had thought when he first met the older boy. Chris was the son of some famous French Duke/Actor, so they hit it off well since the beginning. They both knew the struggle of being born and paraded around like some spectacle. Christian and Chris confessed to each other months after meeting, and like most young love, they thought they would be together forever. However, Chris was a year older, which meant he would have to leave before Christian. But it was okay! They both had it all planned out. Chris would go off and get enough money until Christian graduated, then they would run away together. Of course, none of that happened. Chris left as soon as he graduated and never contacted Christian again.

Christian returned home after graduation calling himself by his middle name. To everyone, Henri seemed like he had finally matured. He no longer sneaked off. He usually stayed home in his little gaming room when he doesn't have classes. He only talks to his younger siblings and mother and tends to avoid his father and older brother, not that they complain much.

Now, Henri is studying to major in fine arts and photography while trying to do whatever his father tells him to.

Henri has been considering coming out to his parents, knowing they might not react too badly. It still scares him to the core despite knowing that they might not mind.

Leonor is a woman of passion. It runs in her blood; her parents like to say. Whatever she does, she does at one hundred percent and with all her pride. Because of that, Leonor is a focused and determined woman. Her need for perfection drives her to be a workaholic and often forgets to take care of herself when she is lost in a task. She is afraid of failure and tends to stay away from anything that she knows she will likely fail. Impulse is another thing Leonor is rather wary of. She keeps her own impulses in checks and rarely acts upon them, afraid they will lead to any sort of trouble or failure.

Despite this, Leonor stays in touch with the people around her and keeps up with everyone she calls a friend or family. Her ability to sympathize with others extends to strangers as well. She loves to talk to people and listen to other's problems. Or gossip. Anything really, as long as she had human contact. With a friendly demeanor, she is always considerate of others and diplomatic -- a good trait to have for ruling a country.

Leonor was born to Queen Esperanza and Prince Consort Felix. She is the oldest of four children, all of them two years apart, making the youngest sixteen years old. As the firstborn to the queen and future heir of Nevarrea, she was kept in close doors to protect her from any gossip or media attention as she grew up. Leonor's studies started even before she was born with her mother playing classical pieces while she was pregnant and even going as far as to read poetry. As soon as little Leonor was able to walk, her formal studies started.

Queen Esperanza wanted the best of the best for her daughter, and so it was. Leonor learned to speak English, Mandarin, French, Portuguese, and German before she got the age of puberty. Musical instruments were also part of her studies, which included violin, piano, and later on guitar. Leonor's mother also forced classical literature and poetry towards her, which only made Leonor hate reading so much, especially poetry. Despite that, Leonor did her best to impress her mother and at the same time, all of Nevarrea. By the time she had thirteen, Leonor had been unofficially introduced to the media.

At fifteen, Leonor's first and most memorable celebration had taken place. Her quinceañera was a big milestone in her culture, like the many cultures around Nevarrea. The celebration lasted three days with all night long parties all over the country. Parades and Catholic ceremonies were held in Princess Leonor's name. Three grand ballgowns were made for her for each day of the celebration. It had been a bigger celebration than her mother's. The whole thing had gotten international attention, too, with many other royals and political allies being invited to the quinceañera. It had truly been Leonor's best three days.

Of course, not everything good last. Just a year after Prince Consort, Felix died from a heart attack. His heart never recovered, and there was no time for a transplant. The country mourned while the family held their chins high for them. However, Leonor didn't take her father's death easily and secluded herself from her family and friends. Her father's death made her realize that she would have to go through something like that. A second she would be a queen and the next nothing.

It caused Leonor to lash out. She would sneak away at the dead of night to drink and do whatever rebellious teens did during her age. She fooled around with women only, always making sure to keep her name a secret. She may have wanted to feel a sense of freedom from the weight of Nevarrea off her shoulders, even if it was just for a few hours.

Queen Esperanza could only take so much of Leonor's behavior, so she sent her away to a boarding school in France. She only stayed there for two years, but the fact she had been separated from her brothers and sister made her resent her mother. Leonor blamed herself too, of course, but she had only wanted the attention of her mother. After returning to Nevarrea, she began to perform her Crowned Princess duties, as any would.

Political talks, diplomatic meetings, interviews, and overseeing of reforms. Leonor had come to realize she was not a child. She couldn't run off as she used to when she was younger. She owed it to her father to be the next Queen. A Queen that would not abandon those who she cared for when they needed her the most.

Queen Esperanza Acosta Bourbon
Queen Esperanza inherit the throne from her mother, just like her mother did before her. Queen Esperanza's grandmother known for ending the economic instability in her country by introducing the trade of military weapons and the trade still continues to this day.

The Queen is known to have been a stubborn and determined woman. Her leadership has been described as a tight but securing grip on Nevarrea. To the media, she is a woman of high morals and religion, but always open-minded to everything. Hence, the many liberal bills she has passed ever since she took the crown.

Prince Consort Felix Gonzales-Bourbon
Prince Felix was a famous fiction and thriller author. He married Queen Esperanza just two years after meeting her. He was described as a gentleman who cared deeply for his family and was passionate about his works of fiction. Many of his books were transferred to the big screen.

Prince Felix had never been one to bask in all the attention, so he tended to stay home with his children and care for them while the Queen went out to her meetings. Prince Felix's death was a devastating blow to the country.

• Nevarrea is mostly known for the white sandy beaches, warm waters, and dreamlike landscapes. The country attracts a lot of tourism during the summer, but they keep it regulated and limited.
• Number one in futbol, or are North Americans like to call it "soccer".
• Coffee, sugar, and tobacco are the most exported goods from Nevarrea. The tobacco is famous over the world and is sold at a high price out and in the country.
• The people of Nevarrea are very open-minded and welcoming of every culture and person.
• The famous Teyok volcano sits by the eastern coast of the country, it is still active.
• Nevarrea is also known as one of the top arms dealer, trading to North America, Europe and most of Asia. While their own military is rather small compared to the Northern neighbors, they have advanced military weapons. Because of this, tensions with neighboring countries have been at a rise.
• Nevarrea is famous for its colorful culture, sweet foods, and spicy drinks. Yes, spicy drinks.
• It was the first country to legalize same-sex marriage in 1950 after the majority of the Teoko population protested for it.

HISTORY

After the Iberian Peninsula sent colonizers to South America in the late 1500s, Nevarrea was established. Europeans seized the land and claimed it as it's own by placing various houses from Europe to rule over the country and keep the peace. There were six main houses that ruled over Nevarrea, the Bourbon, the Acosta, the Diaz, the Caballero, the Fuste, and the Jurado. While the land was not deserted, there was a large population of indigenous called the Teoko who populated most of Naverrea.

The Iberian rule lasted for almost two hundred years. They had enslaved the large Teoko population and worked them in the tobacco and sugar fields. It was no surprise that the population of the Teoko people began to decrease. As a result, many of the ruling houses began to bring in slave trade from the neighboring kingdoms.

The Acosta and Bourbon houses were some of the few that rejected the idea of slavery and instead welcomed the Teoko people to their land to escape the other houses. It wasn't long for war between the houses to erupt. Around the late 1700s, the kingdom of Nevarrea was at war with itself over slavery and the rights of the land. The Acosta and the Bourbon stood against the other three remaining houses. It seemed like a losing war, but the two houses came out victorious at the end.

On November 15, 1801, Nevarrea became a united nation with the help of the Teoko. The Bourbon family was appointed rulers of the newly formed nation and formed close ties with the Acosta Family and the Teoko. Sofia Maria Bourbon was named the queen and Ti'chilla Etzili as governing ruler of the Teoko people.

Since then, Nevarrean and Teoko people are grown closer. There have been a few Teoko royals and the royal family now carries Teoko blood, bringing the people closer together.

Throughout its history, Nevarrea has stayed a neutral country. While they have not fought in any major wars since the forming of the kingdom, tensions with the neighboring countries have been on the rise. Because of this, Nevarrea has invested largely in its military weaponry. During the early 1900s, Nevarrea opened it's arms trade to most of North America, Europe, and Asia while keeping a close eye on neighboring kingdoms.

RELIGION

About 57% of Iberian descents Nevarreans are Catholics, 10% are other denominations of Christianity, 5% are from other Abrahamic religions. 15% follow the Teoko Religion, 7% are non-religious or do not follow a religion, and the remaining 6% do not believe in anything.

There is a strict separation of Church and State.

OTHER

• Nevarrea's economy has been at a rise since the 1900s, and its military presence is growing. Tensions between the neighboring countries are growing.
• The country had put a large amount of funding to its schools and has developed a similar system as Sweedish school systems, making them one of the top educated countries in the world.
• Naverra's official language is Spanish, Teoko, and English; most public schools offer the three.
• The country has a low crime rate and a life expectancy of one hundred.
• Naverrea's infrastructure has been going through changes to improve it.
• The country legalized recreational marijuana recently and has begun to export it to other countries, mainly Europe and North America, and have put the gains into their military.

Christina “Chrissy” Li (NPC)

𝓒hristina 𝓛i (who most people just call "Chrissy") is a nosy twenty-something-year-old who writes the daily gossip column in The Lynston Daily, AKA one of the most notorious tabloids within the entire kingdom. At a mere five feet and two inches Chrissy is certainly not the most formidable of people, but her cynical "fuck off" flippancy and acerbic tongue make up for her lack of height (as do her six-inch heels). Although she has not been "officially" invited to the celebrations, Chrissy is determined to somehow worm her way in and hopefully score herself the juiciest story of her entire career.

Although Beatrice was born and raised in Königreich der Welten, most people will say that she looks more like she should be 100% Liangii. She has her mother's face, somewhere in between 'heart-shaped' and 'oval', and she has inherited her mother's ink-black hair, as smooth and sleek and silky as that of any Liangii woman's. If there was any hint of Königreich der Welten in Beatrice's hair, it had long since been swallowed up by the glossy darkness.

Beatrice likes to wear her hair long and loose and free, though she is certainly not adverse to putting it up into a fancy hairdo when the occasion is appropriate. And she has always loved experimenting with braids.

Beatrice's complexion is rather pale, taking after both her mother and her father, and her eyes are a dark gray-blue, framed with long-ish lashes. Beatrice is not extraordinarily tall, standing at 5 feet and 6 inches, but she does happen to favor all sorts of high heels, giving her a few more inches of height. Unlike her mother, Beatrice tends to go rather light on the makeup, making it a bit heavier for formal events - she's definitely not been one to cake on the cosmetics, though.

In terms of her clothes, Beatrice favors elegant, streamlined looks. She likes the simplicity, and she has never been one for frills. However, that is not to say that she does not enjoy a gown with intricate beadwork or lace or embroidery every once in a while.

Everybody says that Beatrice takes after her mother. And indeed, in many ways she does; she has her mother’s steel, and a bit of her mother’s cold cunning, hidden behind her mild-tempered demeanor and small, polite smiles. Beatrice is constantly analyzing everything. She is constantly picking apart your every word and monitoring your every glance, your every blink, your every flinch. Observant and perceptive, Beatrice is more than happy to let others have the limelight…depending on the situation.

And even if Beatrice takes after her mother, there is no denying that she has much of her father in her, too. Charming, charismatic, and amicable, Beatrice has an uncanny skill with remembering names and faces. In fact, she has a pretty decent memory in general; she's been known to randomly recall stray tidbits of information that she heard years ago. Beatrice is not particularly confrontational, and she would much rather settle disputes in a polite, civilized manner (preferably over a cup of green tea) than start a a fight, of any sort (especially not one of the physical sort. Fisticuffs are so unbearably uncouth). Beatrice carries herself with a quiet dignity and an inexplicable refinement; she's approachable, but not too approachable. Calm, collected, and level-headed, Beatrice rarely ever loses neither her composure nor her temper.

Perhaps the one thing that she has taken from both her mother and her father is her willingness to do whatever it takes. Her parents make for a pretty picture - her father in his crisp uniforms, her mother in her elegant gowns - but Beatrice knows, deep down, that to some degree, both of them are as ruthless as they come. Her mother, especially; Beatrice knows that her father does not see the brutality, nor the resentment, within his consort. Beatrice knows that her mother is manipulative and deceitful, behind all her gowns and high heels and lipstick - the perfect politician. And anyone who has met the queen of Königreich der Welten knows that her youngest daughter takes after her, in almost every way.

Finally, Beatrice is a good listener and is very quick to pick up emotional cues from another person. She is extremely meticulous and thorough and detail-oriented. Loyal and dutiful, Beatrice is knows that she has her place and her role in the grand scheme of things, and as much as she chafes against the roles that have been assigned to her, she knows that it is all for a purpose. The question is, of course, what exactly is she loyal to? She has always thought that it was to her kingdom, to Königreich der Welten, but in more recent years, she has started doubting this loyalty. She has realized, through the years, that she is not loyal to Königreich der Welten, but to her siblings, and to her mother.

And that, Beatrice knows, changes everything.

The fourth and youngest child of King Niklas and Queen Mai König, Beatrice grew up to become the darling of her kingdom. It wasn't enough for her; of course it wasn't enough. She is too much like her mother for it to ever be enough. Queen Mai saw this, and though she tried to teach Beatrice all the subtleties that she herself relies on - which Beatrice took to as well as Mai did - Beatrice doesn't want to have to hide, the way that her mother does.

And so, in secret, her mother and her mother's uncle (Emperor Ming Mei of Liang) have arranged for Beatrice to marry a man named Zheng Hu (Hu Zheng, if we go by Liangii naming customs), Ming's (secretly) appointed heir. They are to rule jointly over Liang, as emperor and empress. The plan is not without risk; Beatrice's father, the king of Königreich der Welten, intends to annex Liang into his kingdom, once Emperor Ming dies - because as far as anyone knows, Ming has no heir. Queen Mai refuses to see her husband take over her homeland in this way, hence the plan for Beatrice to rule with Zheng.

Recently, King Niklas has betrothed Beatrice to Crown Prince Raiden Zhao of Xi'n. Beatrice recognizes this for what it is - a ploy to make sure that Königreich der Welten has allies nearby, once Niklas begins the process of formally annexing Liang. Beatrice knows that the engagement will fall through, but she'll go along with it, for now.

She'll be empress of Liang, as soon as the time is right. And Beatrice is nothing if not patient.

Detailed Bio

Princess Beatrice König is the darling of her kingdom, the jewel of Königreich der Welten.

Born to a beloved king and his Liangii queen, the people of Königreich der Welten love all the royal children, just on principle. Their firstborn, Eugene "Gene" König, is said to be a younger version of King Niklas - he is the dutiful soldier-prince that his father once was, with a bit of a mischievous streak that he still has not outgrown. And Olivia, the second oldest, is said to be reserved, but kind, also with a strong sense of duty. Ming, named after the emperor of Liang (and their mother's uncle), but referred to as "Alex", is the charming trickster, friendly and amicable.

And Beatrice? She had already wormed her way into the peoples' hearts as a baby, being the youngest of the royal family, and when she grew up into a woman who bore a remarkable resemblance to her mother - her poised, elegant mother, with her soft smiles and gorgeous gowns and air of polite refinement - she cemented her place as the jewel of the kingdom. Like her mother, she is charming in a demure way; like her mother, she is perfectly put-together, no matter what the occasion, oozing refined elegance and a quiet sort of dignity.

And, just like her mother, if you peel back all the layers of smiles and makeup and polite words, Beatrice is cunning and calculating and a bit, well, cold. Not as cold as her mother, Beatrice would like to think, but cold enough.

Beatrice is not the jealous sort. She is, however, more than just a little bit ambitious. From an early age, she was always vying for her father's attention, because she didn't want to be married off to some stuffy old noble for political purposes. She didn't want to be nothing more than a pawn for her parents to use. Beatrice managed to keep all of this to herself, until one day she simply exploded at her older sister, asking her how it was fair that Gene and Alex got to go sit in with the military commanders when Alex was total shit at talking strategy.

Her mother, Queen Mai, overheard. Beatrice had frozen, afraid that she was about to be punished, but her mother had simply smiled at her - not one of those smiles that she put on in public, those smiles of polite, mild interest, nor the loving (but somehow off) smiles she gave her husband - but a small, sad smile, tinged with a bit of...wistfulness? Beatrice couldn't say.

Her mother told her that she must learn to be patient. That there were ways to influence the course of events, from behind the scenes. She taught her how to lie, how to be the princess that the people wanted to see. And slowly, Beatrice came to realize that her mother held not a single ounce of love for her father. Slowly, she began to realize that her mother probably hated her father.

And Beatrice didn't want to be like her mother. She didn't want to manipulate and play puppetmaster from behind the scenes - she wanted to be in the foreground, making the decisions without having to hide. The hiding and the deception is what Beatrice hates the most, perhaps because it scares her so much. It scares her how cold her mother's eyes will get, when they are alone, or how tight her expression will go, or how soft and quietly deadly her voice will get. Beatrice sees murder in her mother's gaze, sometimes, and fucking hell, it scares her.

She wonders - do Gene and Alex and Olivia see this side of their mother? The same woman who would sing them Liangii lullabies when they couldn't sleep, or who would feed the ducks in the pond behind the palace, or who would laugh and tell them jokes at dinner. The same woman who kisses her husband good-night and sleeps beside him, in the same bed. Beatrice wonders, sometimes, how her mother has lived through all these years, how she has kept Niklas from seeing how much she despises him.

Beatrice decided, early on, that she would rather die than marry someone she hated as much as Mai hated Niklas. Beatrice didn't know why her mother hated Niklas so much, but she knows that she isn't as strong as her mother; her Liangii mother who was told to eat her own bitterness, and who has tried to pass that on to Beatrice, but goddammit, Beatrice doesn't want to. Why should she have to suffer like this, eating her own bitterness, simply for being a girl? Why should she have to marry someone she doesn't like, be the consort with no real power besides her own skill at deceit and manipulation? It wasn't fair. Fucking hell, it wasn't fair.

Beatrice never said anything, of course. But her mother saw right through her. Her mother always saw right through her.

She was sixteen when things started to look up. She overheard Mai arguing with Olivia, her older sister. Mai had been working, behind the scenes, to get Olivia instated as the empress of Liang, through some sort of political marriage. Beatrice had never been jealous, because she was well-aware that Olivia would have been nothing more than a figurehead, had the plan gone through.

Olivia said that she didn't want to be empress. Mai, as Beatrice had come to expect, did not argue, and Beatrice remembers the bitter taste that filled her mouth when she realized what her mother was doing. Her mother was pretending to agree while she retreated inwards, while she made plans to fix things behind closed doors, because that was what she was supposed to do, as a consort. She wasn’t supposed to put up a fuss. She wasn’t supposed to make a scene. Mai had backup plans upon backup plans, schemes upon schemes. Beatrice knew for a fact that she was running through them all in that moment, trying to find the best way to manipulate the situation in her favor.

Olivia - blunt, straightforward Olivia, who was as frustrated with their mother as Beatrice was - had demanded an explanation. Mai had given one.

"Beatrice wants to be an empress, you know," said Olivia. A pause. "You know that." Another pause, slightly longer this time. "Why won't you give it to her?"

“Because Beatrice would not be happy,” Mai had answered, finally. “She is...your sister is too much like me. She would not be happy being second to a man. But, just like me, she would be determined to work around it.” Her voice was laced with a sad sort of bitterness. “You, my dear, are much more straightforward than that. You are not so interested in...politics. You would be happy simply serving the people. It would be enough for you.”

Her mother was right. Of course she was right. And after that, when the plans with whoever Olivia was supposed to marry fell through, Beatrice came to her mother with a proposition. She would be empress of Liang, and since the Liangii court would not accept her as the standalone heir, she would marry an heir that Mai and her uncle picked out.

Her mother had wavered. Her mother, Beatrice was coming to realize, did not like to take risks (or, perhaps, she just could not fathom a world where it worked, a world where the emperor and empress ruled with equal power). But she had agreed, and the plan had been set into motion. This time, however, it was done secretly. Her father had plans to annex Liang; her father would not want the current emperor picking an heir. He would rather appoint one of his trusted officials as the ruler, once Liang was fully annexed, marry Beatrice off to them, and send them on their merry way. And Mai was not going to hear it.

And so, after a few years of "vacations" back to Liang and whispered phone conversations in an obscure mountain dialect, Mai and the emperor found a certain Zheng Hu to take the throne, after Emperor Ming eventually died. Beatrice has not met him very many times, thanks to the secrecy of it all, but she knows that her mother would not have picked someone who would force her to be the agreeable consort that Mai has molded herself into. She knows that her mother would not have picked someone who would be cruel to her.

The only wrench in everything, of course, is her father. Mai has forbidden her from telling Alex and Gene about the plan, and though she hates keeping secrets from her brothers, she understands why her mother would do this. Alex and Gene are her brothers, and they have spent more time with Niklas than they have Mai. Beatrice knows that their secrecy is not guaranteed.

And, of course, there's the fact that King Niklas has recently betrothed her to Prince Raiden of Xi'n. Beatrice recognizes it for what it is - a ploy to make sure that Königreich der Welten has allies nearby, once Niklas begins the process of formally annexing Liang. And now Beatrice can see how much her mother loathes him, more than ever; and though Beatrice's heart will never belong to Liang the way that her mother's does, all she wants to do is to make the murder in her mother's eyes go away. One day, she'll be an empress, and her mother won't hate her father so much.

Her middle name, Mei, is not to be confused with her mother's maiden name - although the romanizations are the same, Beatrice's middle name is a different character, and thus has a different meaning. Her middle name means "plum blossom", for the significance/symbolism it has in Liangii culture:

The plum blossom is seen as a symbol of winter and a harbinger of spring. The blossoms are so beloved because they are viewed as blooming most vibrantly amidst the winter snow, exuding an ethereal elegance, while their fragrance is noticed to still subtly pervade the air at even the coldest times of the year. Therefore, the plum blossom came to symbolize perseverance and hope, as well as beauty, purity, and the transitoriness of life. In Confucianism, the plum blossom stands for the principles and values of virtue.

Königreich der Welten ("Kingdom of Worlds") is an advanced, first-world country that incorporates some of the best teachings and ideas of all other countries into its own universities, producing intelligent students that often go on to become prominent scientific revolutionaries, capable military commanders, and efficient manufacturers and inventors. Where the Kingdom of Aciras is a sort of cultural beacon, Königreich der Welten is a military and intellectual beacon.

That being said, Königreich der Welten doesn't have as much resource-rich lands, nor do they have the largest industry (though they are prominent innovators of a great many things, such as cars, guns, tanks, aircraft, watercraft, and other larger pieces of technology, as well as some of the more secure, expensive portable pieces of technology), and because of their more hands-off attitude (besides terrorists and smaller, more rogue nations), they lack as much diplomatic power and influence as some of the other European kingdoms. On the social and political scene, they're rather laidback and neutral, though many do have feelers out, trying to predict or sway the actions of other kingdoms.

Königreich der Welten is a kingdom that became increasingly relevant within the European, and then the global, sphere as it industrialized. Economic development and investment brought prosperous times, and indeed, the people of Königreich der Welten enjoy one of the highest standards of living worldwide.

However, this sort of economic development does not come without a cost. Königreich der Welten traditionally placed a heavy emphasis on its military, and this did not change as technology became more advanced. Soon enough, the rulers of the kingdom found that they were totally reliant on foreign imports of raw materials as Königreich der Welten's natural store of resources was depleted. As such, they agreed to help Emperor Ming Mei in his efforts to re-take the Liangii throne militarily, so long as Liang provided Königreich der Welten with a steady stream of natural resources. And to seal the deal, the princess of Liang, Mai Mei, would marry the then-crown prince of Königreich der Welten, Niklas König.

That is all known by the general public. But Niklas' most heavily-guarded secret is the fact that his father arranged for the "disappearance" of Emperor Ming's heir, shortly before Niklas and Mai were married. This way, it would be fairly easy for Niklas to annex Liang, after Emperor Ming died, presumably without an heir.

Personality

Raven - like her father - is proud and take pride in what she does. She's been told more than once that her hubris will be her downfall. One thing that most people notice is her short temper, like her mother. While she doesn't really have outbursts, her anger is more passive aggressive. Sharp remarks and sneaky glares are more than common. Despite her similarities with her parents, Raven is the reserved kind, always have said to keep her feelings under lock and key. So reserved, it is said by some, that the girl is not able to feel emotion at all. Years of reading in the royal library have added to her intelligence, giving the girl lot's of conversation topics to talk about.

Raven is a girl with a witty comeback for just about anything. Despite her ability to go about, make friends and carry on conversation at major events, the girl is actually really quiet. She is also very head strong and independent - hence some of her outfit choices. Once she gets an idea she tends to run with it. The young may come off as sweet and kind to people who get to know her - which isn't wrong. Raven has a big heart, and knows how to have fun just like anyone else. Don't be fooled; just because she is sweet and polite doesn't mean that she can't be bitter and cruel. After all, vengeance is a meal best served cold.

Biography

Raven grew up in what could be considered a loving home, at the least. From the time she was born, her parents felt the need for her to be involved with her country through and through. Therefor, the little princess was taken out on ever royal outing imaginable. Being the princess of one of the most main and well known Kingdoms only made things harder. The girl has been expected all of her life to what could be considered next to flawless. This came as a tough challenge to her, considering her rebelliousness. Thankfully she never really had to live under her older sister Vivian's shadow. Growing up the girls were treated just the same, and the kingdom loved them both.

The children loved their princess, always wanting to dance, sing or play with her in the Town Square when she visited. The adults enjoyed her intellectual conversation, and soon the tabloids speculated that she may one day be an even stronger leader than her father. One might think that this would cause a rivalry between her and Vivian, but it didn't. While Raven took on the more hands on leader approach, her sister dreamed of a life that was more that of traditional values.

Raven always knew that she would be betrothed to a young man one day, but this stirred up conflicting feelings. Raven had always made it public that she could take care of herself, never needing anyone to point her in the right direction. If she was ever to marry she would prefer it to be out of love. She spoke of it to her parents one night at dinner, but was quickly silenced by the wave of her fathers hand. Raven was given a speech about how it was tradition and that she would have to simply 'suck it up'. Upon Vivian's betrothal, Raven was tasked with planning the wedding, as well as the celebrations leading up to and after the ceremony. While completely unexpected, Raven didn't mind the new task and the responsibility that came with it.

Recent // Relevant Kingdom History

-Founded in 1476, the Kingdom of Aciras broke away from the Kingdom of Estonia in order to gain their religious freedom. Estonia was a very strict Catholic kingdom, and enforced their religion on the people living there in harsh ways. The war lasted for eight years, and eventually the people of Aciras won their freedom.
-In the year of 1861, the country had another war. The currently ruling family of Rollings was leading the kingdom into times of famine. The ruling king spent his money frivolously, leaving next to nothing for repairs, paying the towns people, etc. It was the commander of the army - Christopher Willow - who would eventually become king when the war was over in 1866. The Willow family has been ruling ever since.
-When 1929 came around, another war ensued with Aciras' neighboring kingdom, Lindale. This lead the Acirans into a time of economical depression as all the money was being spent on the war. The people of Aciras chose this time to grow closer together as a community, however, and after seven years the war was won. It still took some time for the Kingdom to get back up and running into it's former glory, but Aciras came back stronger than ever.

𝓞nce upon a time, there was a beautiful princess who lived in the fair kingdom of Aciras. She was kind and sweet and compassionate and could totally talk to animals (at least, that’s what she would have liked to believe), and when she found out that she was to be married to a handsome prince…

...𝓢he posted the news of her engagement on Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and god knows where else - then invited the princes and princesses of the entire world to two months of pre-wedding celebrations.

𝓣hese princes and princesses aren’t just international celebrities, of course, nor are they merely the sons and daughters of the richest men and women in the world. They’re royalty, and with the royal status comes certain expectations from both their parents and their kingdoms. Many of them have been betrothed to another since a very young age, and although they may have contact with one another on official business, this will be the first time that many of them will be spending a prolonged period of time together...so hopefully it goes better than your typical first date with someone you matched with on Tinder, yeah?

𝓞f course, there are also some who are single and ready to mingle (for political purposes or otherwise), and still others who are here to socialize, explore Aciras, or negotiate trade deals and/or alliances. No biggie.

𝓐ll politics aside, there’s bound to be drama galore. Celebrity Twitter fights are nothing compared to the scheming and back-stabbing of these pretty princes and princesses, and hey-what happens when they end up falling in love with the wrong person?

𝓐s the description suggests, this roleplay will be about an extended social gathering in the main kingdom of Aciras in the months leading up to Princess Vivian's wedding. Vivian is a NPC. More information can be found later on about her in this post. All the invitees are princes and princesses of their own respective kingdoms (see "Rules" section for the policy on non-royal characters) and unmarried, and it is recommended that you work out a betrothal with someone before the RP starts (but not necessary/required). Once people have CSes up, I will also run every character who isn't already betrothed through a random number generator and post results in the OOC, in case any of the pairings inspire ideas.

𝓐ciras is the kingdom in which the RP takes place in, but you will be loosely creating your own kingdom in the process.

The Aciran Castle

Castle // Built in 1519, the Aciran Castle is home to the royal Willow family. The castle has been slowly renovated over the past few decades, with some construction still underway. Among the castle staff are seven maids and ten chefs. The Aciran staff are to live on the castle grounds during these current times due to there being such a higher volume of people in the castle.

Bedrooms // One of the most recent renovations, all of the bedrooms in the castle are identical. They all include a king sized bed, walk-in closet, bathroom, desk and windows. All of the rooms can be found on the second floor of the castle, along with the library.


Garden // Aside from the spiral staircase, one of the most stunning views of the castle is the garden. Also found on the kingdom grounds in a tennis court, basketball court, horse stables, and multiple riding/hiking trails.

Vivian Lucille Willow

Vivian is the first born of two sisters. Betrothed to a lovely young man named Christopher. The two of them are said to be a perfect match, and unlike most betrothed couples - they actually seem to love each other. Vivian is currently twenty-five years old and has tasked her little sister, Raven, with planning the wedding and the events leading up to it with help from some of the royal staff.

-If you end up having a problem with a fellow writer or the roleplay in general, please come to me in PM's/DM's and I will resolve it to the best of my ability.
-Romance is more than encouraged, but let's not post smut on the main forum.
-This is a character driven Roleplay. Interactions are required between characters, so please don't isolate your character in the back corner of the room.
-The main thing is basically to not be a dick and have fun.
-One post per character is required every two weeks. If you miss a deadline, you will not be able to post until the next posting cycle.
