Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.
3 yrs ago
I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

It seemed, for the moment, no-one was making any unusual moves towards the princess at this very moment. For now, at the very least... no, much of the crowd seemed quite distracted by the sudden disappearance of the cake.

"Ah, Sir Gerard, was it?" Eliabelle said with a smile as the knight approached, "Aside from the sudden disappearance of the cake, we're doing quite well."

She frowned again, as her eyes returned to the empty space the enormous ode to all that was baked goods had once sat.

"Really, who takes an entire cake? It must have been a mage..."

Fanilly glanced towards Sir Gerard. Was something the matter? It wasn't as if she had any particular reason to suspect as such aside from the vanished cake, but when one of her knights suddenly approached her, asking if all was well... it arose suspicions. She didn't want to ask in front of the Princess, disrupting the mood would have hardly aided anything and she didn't want to frighten Eliabelle either, especially if it turned out that nothing was wrong at all. Ah... she couldn't really count on her questioning look towards her knight coming across at all, either...

What was she to do?

Before she could say much else, however, there was suddenly more commotion towards the gardens, drawing much of the crowds' attention. Perhaps now would be the time to look for an intruder? Though nothing seemed out of the ordinary at the moment...

"Manti... core...?"

Violette tilted her head. She had only ever heard of such a creature, and to know it existed and was actually something that a living person could encounter... that did serve to catch her interest, certainly. Even if she quickly tried to bury it under a much less intrigued expression, looking away once more.

It was only obvious she wasn't the type who was often honest with her interests.

"... I suppose something like that is different, at least..."

In the gardens, the black knight stared at the sudden approach of the seemingly-drunk Elwen. They said not a single word, expression completely hidden behind their face-concealing armet, but at this distance one thing was perfectly clear:

The knight was incredibly tall. Over two meters, perhaps even more. This cut quite the striking figure, especially combined with the completely black armor. Additionally, the knight was equipped with a short sword on one hip, but also an incredibly long zweihander, larger than all but perhaps the blade wielded by the Iron Rose Knights' eldest member, matching the huge knight's height at least.

The knight continued to say nothing, but the small girl with dark gray pigtails swiftly interposed herself between the two of them. She was young, thirteen perhaps at the oldest, wearing a navy blue dress in contrast to her fair skin and light brown eyes.

"Haelstadt isn't this Sir Gareth, drunkard," she protested immediately, "And neither of us have a single interest in entertaining your boorish behavior."

Sophie raised an eyebrow. She hadn't even yet selected a job, and the huge hundi was offering to go with her? To make up for his behavior? Hmph. He had another thing coming, if he seriously belied she was going to just accept it. Ifari, too. The dark elf had butted in of his own accord and tried to come up with a solution she didn't recall asking for. The young warrior hardly desired to be picking up anyone who blindly wandered into someone directly in front of them, even if they had apologized.

Besides, Sophie hadn't even picked out a job yet. Between the clearing of orcs and the disappearances near Haesting, both of them seemed important to the safety of the common person. This was undeniably something that she had to keep in mind. Orcs were vile barbarians, who enslaved and even ate other thinking beings. Their nature was one that pillaged and destroyed, without any thought or care for anyone but themselves. Thus, killing as many of the bastards as she could was certainly not an invaluable duty.

That being said...

The disappearances near Haesting were quite concerning. There was so far not even a clear indication of what was causing it, but whatever it was had to be eliminated without mercy.

Both of them were choices that were hard to pass up, and yet she could only take one.

"... I'm taking either the job to slay the orcs, or to halt the disappearances near Haesting," she said, finally, leaning slightly closer to the board as she did, "Any decisions you make are your own."

There. Ideally that wouldn't be encouraging.

@SilverPaw@Derg2
For a few moments, Sophie was silent. The fact that the over-sized hundi had almost immediately apologized profusely was something of point in his favor, really. The purple-haired girl had been fully prepared for a complete refusal to admit fault, or some other equally bone-headed and idiotic response. Blowing off Nehir's attempt to discourage her from speaking so harshly, the petite girl turned around once more to face the huge dog-like warrior.

Arms still folded across her slight chest, the girl glared up towards the huge man.

"Hmph. Fine. Don't do it again, or you'll really be stupid."

While her tone was rather short, Sophie at least wasn't one to reject a serious apology... at least, when it came so quickly and sincerely. Still, it wasn't as if this was what she wanted to be dealing with right now.

What the Velmet heir was interested in at the moment was selecting a new quest. One didn't become one of the guild's top adventurers-no, the top adventurer in the guild-by spending too much time on sources of annoyance. Even if they did at least apologize.

At the moment, there were four jobs that seemed appealing. Orcs were a problem, and could potentially hurt a lot of innocent people if they weren't dealt with. A Merchant's caravan was something important to Estival as a whole, as the daughter of nobility she knew that quite well. Disappearances... that couldn't be tolerated.

Finally, recovery of artifacts for the church seemed like a worthy cause as well. Though, if she had to be honest, Sophie felt herself a little more interested in the clearing of orcs and the recovery of those had disappeared...

She was hardly about to make her indecision too obvious, however.

@Derg2
I'm honestly curious about what people who aren't in the know(there's only a couple even counting people who returned from the previous version of the RP) think is up with the mystery loli at the moment.
"Ah?!"

The sound came, unbidden, from Sophie's lips, as someone considerably larger than herself stumbled into her from behind. The impact rattled her armor and caused her stagger forward, nearly colliding with the wall.

In that instant, fury almost immediately rose in her heart.

Really?! He couldn't possibly see that there was someone there?! Only an idiot would manage to miss that entirely. Only someone truly, completely, and utterly stupid could possibly fail to realize that there was someone there and that they shouldn't charge up like a complete moron! The small, purple-haired girl was aware that one of the guild workers, obviously a Nem, had already begun to lay into him. When she turned around, it didn't take too long for her to realize who it was.

That oversized, stupid dog! Why was he so tall!? Weren't hundi supposed to be short?!

Needless to say, the rapidly-mounting anger building up in the core of Sophie's small frame required some kind of immediate release.

"You idiot!" snapped the diminutive adventurer, "Couldn't you see someone was here already?! Hmph! As if a true adventurer would be so braindead and ignorant about their surroundings as to blunder around like that! If you have to get right up next to the board to look at the avaliable jobs, wait your turn, moron!"

With that, the Sophie rounded on her heel, her gaze now so intensely fixed on the board that she was practically staring a hole through it.

Anyone even slightly familiar with the axe-wielding adventurer would know that she was rather tempermental, so perhaps this wasn't exactly surprising.

@Derg2@ghastlyInc
@Vec: There are bathrooms of some sort, and a much more functional and modern sewer system and plumbing for cities then the corresponding time period in our world had.

No electricity.
@HereComesTheSnow: Did I miss something? ^^;

Also yes, heading to the tables.
IC is go!
It was a fine summer's day. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and there were people out on the streets doing all kinds of things. From children playing to adults carrying out their daily work, the city of Venne was a bustle of activity. After all, there was no way anyone would ignore the opportunity to take advantage of such wonderful weather. At least for the most part.

And the adventurers of the guild were no exception to this fact. The Guild hall, too, was surrounded by activity. Citizens of Venne were busy submitting jobs for the guild, ranging from simple low-level pest control to bandit hunts, to even clearing a location of goblins. There were all kinds of jobs ready for any adventurer of any level.

Inside the guild hall there was no small amount of activity, as well. Adventurers of all sorts, ranging from the lowest ranks to the highest, were purchasing food or drink, registering bounties, trying to find a party to tackle whatever jobs they were taking on. The guild staff behind the counter, in charge of handling administrative duties for the adventurers, certainly had their job cut out for them on a busy day like this.

"So you're looking for a job today, Sophie?"

The girl who spoke was silver-haired elven girl. The one she spoke to was a very short pale girl, one who could easily be mistaken for a child, her dull purple hair tied up.

"Of course," responded Sophie, folding her arms as she glanced towards the notice board, "What else would I be doing? There's no way a good adventurer would be slacking off on a day like this!"

She nodded, firmly, to herself, as she looked over the day's avaliable jobs.

"Aaah, I wish I could come with you..." lamented the elven mage, "But my sister and I were supposed to clear out a goblin's hideout today..."

"It's fine," asserted Sophie, with a nod to herself. She didn't have any doubts that she could handle whatever job she chose to take on... and, frankly, probably quite a few that were above her current level, but they wouldn't let her take anything more then a couple ranks above her own rank. Even when they seemed perfectly within her reach... whatever, one way or another she was going to become the greatest adventurer she could be! "I don't think I'll have any trouble!"

"Well... okay!" replied the elf, with a nod, "Um... I have to go meet up with my sister... See you later!"

With that, she was off... Sophie waved after her, before returning her attention to the quests board. She wasn't going to accept anything low-level. Clearing giant rats... she'd surpassed that level long ago! And it had been a worthless quest back then, anyway... that was the kind of thing reserved for people who were just learning how to fight!

Sophie wanted something on her level.

There were numerous questions on the board, some had been sitting for a little while, while others had been posted up that day...
