Also, for those who are awaiting for the grand opening of this roleplay, either tomorrow or Thursday is when this roleplay will be open to everyone who expressed their interest. Keep your eyes peeled everyone!

Hnng... as much as I want to let you join in Arty, I prefer not to compromise what I just said. I'm sorry, but you can't join now.

... however, from the way I'm centering things, I'm more than willing to let one to three new people join at the end of each arc we have planned (except for the prologue and final arc for year one). Once I have the ooc up, if you are still interested after the prologue and chapter one, jump in on this roleplay.

And for anyone else who decides to drop at this point, but expresses interest later on, heed these words.

I was thinking of some sort of protection or healing power where my character could take on other people's wounds, combined with a minor form of regeneration so he/she wouldn't have to deal with months of rehabilitation every time they heal a broken leg. The wounds wouldn't heal instantly, so they wouldn't be invulnerable, but they would be a lot more capable of taking a beating than the average person.

Glad to see everyone voicing what type of powers they're probably going to use. So far, I have telekinesis, demonic manifestation, and smoke manipulation for my three characters I have an idea on.

I'd be interested in an alien slot, if no one else is gobbling them up?

You can get an alien slot, and like powers, there will be no reservations. If you get the slot first and the three gms accept you, it's fair game.

I would say both. The only limits we will impose on said powers will be if they're too op at the start, there are too many of the same powers, and if they go above the hard limit of average. So yeah, come up with the weirdest powers you can think of, or the general types.

Ever since the dawn of time, humans have constantly adapted to any situation. To live and thrive to the best of their skills and abilities. However, what if I told you that creative thinking and our own enduring spirits weren't the only thing that influenced our lives? What if those stories about mythical creatures and supernatural happenings were real? And aliens? Psh, what is this, some sci-fi story? Eehh, somewhat... but, uh, yeah, there are aliens.

Ever since the dawn of time, humans have always had abilities that far extended the reach of regular beings. Some people call it magic. Others of a religious standing denounce it as mere workings of the devil. However, I prefer to call these special quirks some of us have superpowers.

Alright then, ladies and gents, this small excerpt of the main introduction will be a lot bigger than expected when my two lovely co-gms and I get the thread up for Palladium Academy. For the most part, the setting of this roleplay will take place on four artificially created islands, one of which will be your schooling, of course. Why isn't there some underground facility or cover-up school that works under the premise that it's for teaching students of higher intellect? Because people are aware of superpowers. People know that they are much smaller fish in the huge world they call Earth. The identities of supers are another story, as for the most part, their names are kept under wraps by not only them, but other organizations...

And if you ask if the government is one of em', then yes, yes they are.

Let me tell you one thing though - only those graduates who are the cream of the crop from one of these prestigious schools usually end up being the ones who become "heroes" you see in stories, the ones mainly hired by organizations to handle other superpowered threats, or small organizations which could possibly disrupt society.

For the most part, you are to live as normal of a life as you can, learning to control your powers so than in the future you don't accidentally destroy everything within a four mile radius. If you do end up as the cream of the crop, congrats. You still have to Clark Kent with another job, because it isn't like every single week a new "villain" will pop up that they have to apprehend.

I will say that genetics will play a big role with superpowers when it comes down to it all.

Here's a few tidbits of information I think you should know before signing off on this all, ic and ooc.

■ Remember how I mentioned genetics will play a big role just a few seconds ago? For one, they determine what power your characters will have and pass on to their off-spring. Second, only 3% of the human population is compromised of supers. Don't worry, it's growing.

■ It is possible for a character without the genetics to attend Palladium Academy, but they need to have a Conduit. Conduit's are essentially powerful items that give a person the powers of a superpowered human without the need to be born as one.

■ There will be aliens you can play as, but there will be guidelines to follow. Also, there are only four slots for aliens.

■ All characters (unless they're facility workers) will be around the ages of 13 - 18 when they are accepted. Plan accordingly.

■ Along with the characters that aren't facility workers, the amount of training they will of had will range from no training at all to average as the maximum amount of training your character can have.

■ Speaking of facility workers, you will have above average training when it comes to superpowers (if you have superpowers), and can even function as a teacher at the school, or a shopkeeper in the shopping district.

■ As for superpowers, there are no reservations needed for certain powers. I won't impose any "superpower-type" limits (i.e. there can be two characters with super strength)... unless there is a huge lack of diversity in powers, which I doubt.

■ This should be a given, but try not to make your characters op, or "ahead of the curb." I know this might be a bit limiting, but all student characters are newbies to Palladium Academy. This won't be your second or third year here. No compromises on this one. Nada.

■ I expect a casual to advanced amount of depth when it comes to character development, how many paragraphs there are (two minimum at most), etc.

As he observed the outside before him, he reached out a hand towards the window, aiming to lay it on there... and he saw...

Oh dear god, what was he looking at?!

Alexander's hand visibly recoiled back just as it was about to reach the glass, the teen jumping back just a little as his eyes widened, mouth agape. Swirls of colorful neon green and purple were what he saw before him... it was as if he was staring into the abyss after taking a huge dose of LSD, mucking around with his head.

He began stepping back, trying to get the hell away from whatever this... slime monster was... and then the walls started rusting. Oh good, so he was right about being stuck in a Silent Hill setting as well. That was probably the most normal thing that he had seen so far...

Because this goop started becoming legs. Why was he getting scared? "Calm down Alex, you're just surprised, that's all, you can get out of here!" Why? Why was he breathing so heavily? Were these his instincts telling him that he was going to die? No way! Not a chance in hell! As he drew his baton, it hit him.

He was surrounded by the noxious puddles of slime, now dripping with decaying pink sinew... Alex might of thrown up a little in his mouth at the repulsive sight... and then there were golden eyes. Excellent, just... perfect.

As one of the fleshy eyes began to near him, he reacted with swift impunity by stamping down on the golden eye, hearing the squishing under his foot. That... that didn't help him at all!

As the strange goo began closing in on him, there was another option that he honestly should of just taken.

Jumping out of the middle of this puddle of caustic unfamiliarity.

Alright... one, two...

Three.

With one valiant push Alex launched himself into the air, almost seemingly making it... if not for the sludge that was still attached to his shoe. He quickly plummeted down into the gunk, now covered in it, face and clothes! Trying to get up, he found that much to his horror he couldn't get out. It was on him!

Struggling only made it worse as he attempted to wrangle the goop off of him, only to have his hand stuck... oh my god, this just went from bad to worse.

...

OK, NOW IT'S AT THE WORST OF THE WORST! Claws and mouths were spawning in the sickly goo that was now enveloping his body, biting at him, scratching his cheek! He winced as it scratched at him, causing a bit of blood to trickle down his temple. All of them, the others... they were seemingly at a loss at what to do...

Until suddenly he saw it.

A huge wave of that repulsive mix of toxic flesh was about to come crashing down on him. He... he had to do something, no matter how futile it was. There was no way in hell he could go down this easily...

"Get the hell away from me," he bellowed at the wave that was coming down on him, swinging with his baton arm at the crashing tide. This was true desperation as he was covered by the tide.

The world, it became muffled to him. This... this was so disgusting! It was blinding him, he couldn't breathe! Alex thought he might lose consciousness, until suddenly he barely made out a familiar voice...

"Maita-san?" The only thing that was visible was the back of his other hand and some parts of his arm, dipped deeply into the fluids. He tried to reach out, he didn't want to die here... he... could he? He felt at a loss here; should he truly give up? No one would try to use him anymore, to get a head start on the latest trends.

Plus, who would really miss him? Some people he just met and was cold as ice to? His parents? Anyone who only cared about fashion? Then why was she...

Alexanders hand reached out just briefly... before receding. The goop slowly made its way up, working to finally envelop the young man.

... it hurt.... all of it... it felt like he was being torn to shreds. They didn't have to waste their time on someone they just met, so he tried to scream "Get the hell out of here, run!"

... yet, his attempts were muffled. Alex had no strength to move his mouth, though, not like he was able to move it in the first place. This... thing that was consuming him was keeping his whole body on lock-down...

It hurts...

It hurts...
